Yes. My understanding is that, upon death, the spirit transfers from the Living Force into the Cosmic Force. Qui-Gon, and those after him, found a way to preserve their pattern - their individual consciousness - even while making the transfer, so Force Spirits are part of the Cosmic Force, not the Living Force.

 

Doesn't TCW also have an explanation for it? I think that could have been used. The arc (in TCW) itself also develops Yoda's character quite a bit, which is why I particularly like it.

 

It wasn't Quigon who discovered it, but I get the gist of what you are going for.

 

Unless my maths skills are worse than I thought that would make yoda over 2000 years old. Almost 18 would make him the 900 years old he claims in the films but it's a little too precise for casual conversation.
