Prologue: Awaken
Within the perilous depths of a deep misty forest, where dancing Willow Wisps and prismatic moths flitted through the blue and white barked trees, each with their blue leaves and small creatures that gathered near and around them, something was moving.
Soft blue grass and moss carpeted the ground, and if one took a moment to stand quietly, they could see within the mists a stag with bluish fur and thick antlers. It has black eyes, occasionally blinking due to the accumulation of water that has built up from the semi-thick mist.
It startled, looking around as it heard the sound of a hissing breath and the dragging of a chain across the ground, carrying something heavy. It turned its head towards the sound, but by then it was already too late.
Crunch.
The sound of a thick ball of spiked steel at the end of a chain slammed into its side and cracked its ribcage as it bleated in pain. It was sent flying into a large square outcropping of red granite.
Its body slid down into the blue grass, and it whinied in pain, and desperately clamored to get up and run, but the damage was too great, and it could not rise.
Emerging from the thick mists was a man in thick steel armor, but upon further noticing, it was clear that something was wrong with this man. Half of the gaunt white skin on his face was falling off in thick strips, and where his eyes were was naught but a putrid green energy.
A red tattered cape clung to his back from the accumulated moisture, and his damaged armor revealed some places where his flesh had fallen and was nothing but bone.
His hissing breath sounded more like a hungry gurgle, even though he had no throat left to gurgle from.
The sound of the stag's hooves weakly battering the ground in its terror was almost completely evershadowed by the chains and the creaking of unoiled plate boots.
The man was surprisingly quick, and he brought back his chain hand, making a complete arc as he slammed the spiked ball and chain against the stag one last time, and the stag's head exploded from the spiked ball crashing against it, and the stag fell silent in its last moment of life.
Pulling the spiked ball out of the corpse, the man dropped the weapon, kneeling next to the stag and bit into the hole that was created in the ribs of the stag, tearing out the raw flesh, and chewing with ancient, rotted teeth.
For the next few minutes, the feasting continued, with the flesh falling through the bottom of the man's jaw onto his armor and down to the grass.
Eventually, the man rose back to his feet. Turning towards a loud boom coming from a few dozen meters away, he gripped his chain and walked quickly towards where the sound had rung.
No doubt he wasn't the only one to hear it.

The voice of an old, wizened man filled Android Seventeen's mind.
"Dark times are coming, and you are needed. Lapis, awaken."
Android Seventeen awoke to find himself with a face full of wet blue grass that smelled much like mint with a hint of blood.
Was it his blood?
He slowly rose to his knees, brushing off his MIR shirt and his blue jeans. His black boots were tied tightly, and there was now a small bloodstain on them that he had just noticed as he stood up.
Right, he had landed in a thick pool of blood. There were the bones of an almost freshly bitten corpse of some large cat animal, with two long fangs coming from its mouth. Likely some form of large sabertooth cat. He couldn't tell which type it was from first glance, but it seemed he wouldn't be given the time to discern at the moment.
To his left, through the misty trees, an arrow was flying towards him. It was quite slow. Far too slow to hit him unless he stood still and let it.
Catching it before it hit him, he grabbed it by the shaft and cracked it in half, throwing it to the ground with an annoyed breath.
"I nod off for just a moment at work and wake up here? Wherever this is," he said, looking around.
All around him, through the thick misty air and blue trees, he could hear long hissing and groaning from men and women, along with the rattling of bones and clanking of armor plates.
Another two arrows whizzed towards him, this time from both sides. He raised both of his hands and grabbed both arrows out of the air as they came close to his head, evaporating them with a small application of energy.
"Alright, this isn't funny. Come on out," he shouted, and with no response, several more arrows came flying towards him from all directions.
With a soft resonating buzz, a blue, clear spherical barrier surrounded him, and the arrows bounced off of it harmlessly.
"Since you're not going to show yourself, then I'll just go to you." Android Seventeen frowned, then disappeared with a flash.
"What the?" He exclaimed, stopping in front of his attacker.
In front of him was a skeleton in soft white rags, holding a thin and brittle bow that looked as if it had a few shots left before falling apart.
It turned towards him ever so slowly, its empty holes where its eyes once were staring directly at him.
He was momentarily shocked by its appearance and the putrid green aura around it.
"Gross," Android Seventeen said, before giving a swift kick to it, where it shattered into bone fragments that embedded themselves in the ground behind it. Its bow shattered from the resonating force of the kick.
Crunch.
A large spearlike icicle bit into a tree a few feet to his right, where it exploded seconds later in a grenadelike exsplosion of ice shards. The shards bounced off his barrier, leaving small frozen patches on the ground.
He turned to see a tall skeleton in vibrant red robes and a tall red hood. It stood at easily seven or more feet tall with long, bony arms that extended from the short, torn sleeves.
"Where the hell is this?" Android Seventeen began to feel slightly worried.
He had thought that he might still be dreaming, perhaps, but his dreams when he had them were not like this.
This meant that someone or something had pulled him from his world and brought him to this strange forest.
Who, what, and why eluded him.
"I don't have time for this." He grumbled before shooting up into the sky, far beyond the tree tops, yet no matter how high he went, it seemed the fog would not clear.
It took him several seconds at a quick pace to rise above the misty clouds into the clear skies.
What he saw was certainly not the Earth he knew of.
Right now, he was hovering over a vast swirling circle of white misty fog that extended for hundreds of miles over a continent that was covered with forests, deserts, flat lands, and vast swamps.
There were no planes in the air, nor helicopters or jets to be seen. In fact, he was the only being this high in the sky.
Again, he found himself echoing his earlier words.
"Where am I?"
He would soon find out his answer, but it wouldn't be one that he would find pleasing.
