An Undertow of Sand (Percy Jackson and the Cthulhu Mythos)

What a surprise to see you here. Didn't know you're active on QQ as well. Hope to see more. You're expansion on the PJO gods world is quite the fun take. Usage of Cthullu and family, what a wonderful story.

So update on what's happening with this fic since I promised an update and then ghosted ya'll. My surgery Oct 22nd happened. Recovery was a little over a month and shortly afterwards had an MRI to inspect my abdomen. The Oct surgery was removing a severely inflamed gallbladder filled with stones found during an ultrasound of the abdomen because we were in the first stages of playing 'Where's the Cancer.'

Unfortunately, I am a very hard stick.. My record is 4 hours, called helicopter crew and 3 anesthesiologists with an ultrasound machine to get a working IV kind of hard stick. I got my port removed in July since I was optimistic. I was 3 years clean of any issues that needed it, and the result is it taking 2 hours for a working IV for the MRI this time. My hands were bruised to hell and back (and they ended up getting it in my left forearm eventually). This was shortly followed by being informed that I did have a tumor in my liver, seems benign. Have a swelling adrenal gland, no idea why, needs to be looked at and also I have iron overload in my liver and spleen, needs to be taken care of before I start stuffing iron in my pancreas or worse my heart.

The normal treatment for that is literal blood letting. For the rest of my life.

I needed my port back, got that surgery done on the 19th of Dec. Took 2 anesthesiologists with an ultrasound machine and a hour and a half for a working IV, they were on the verge of actually canceling the surgery or sticking me in the neck. Thankfully avoided that, but left me with bruises as they tried the back of both hands twice, my left forearm, my right foot, both elbows twice and the underside of both wrists first (the right wrist with a 24 worked as a hail mary). So.

I am back to writing, have about 5k words done, will get it to you as fast as I can.

I didn't know "Iron diabetes" was even a thing, if I'm understanding this correctly. I hope your recovery goes well.
'Iron diabetes' is a good way to phrase it, as it is a genetic disorder but of the liver leading to unhealthily high iron in the blood. Unfortunately it can lead to actual diabetes through organ damage of the pancreas. As well as liver disease, cancer or heart problems.
