...Honestly, no matter what anyone says, Ang doesn't need a master who has mastered the practical side of earthbending; he needs someone to guide his mindset. Once he achieves that, his soul will allow him to learn everything. That's why it makes sense.

A lot of facts have been revealed decades later, it is very interesting. I don't know why you mention that in regards with the story in particular, but I have been following a series from the Korean War and a lot of things have changed from what was known by the public those days.

Aang will sadly have to do with what he has, but I agree that he needed his mentality challenged to learn the element
