The sound of a pressurized pod sliding open was witnessed by no one. This world was one of death. The androids had scarred this world, forcing Trunks to go back in time; yet when he returned, he killed the androids, but Cell killed him shortly after. Then, Cell, stealing the time machine, disappeared forever.

This was a timeline free from the androids, Cell, and all else. However, Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo, and all the defenders of Earth were gone. Only humanity remained, only just now beginning to rebuild.

From the large pod came a hand, gripping the edge.

Then, a head emerged, followed by a huge body. Light green plating, orange hair, and icy blue eyes were what greeted the ruined laboratory. The pod crackled and smoked with a malfunction before shutting down completely.

From the smoke came a person. No, an android.

"Android 16, fully functional and ready to kill Son Goku." The mechanical voice of Android 16 sounded in the destroyed lab. At that moment, the clouds parted, and a beam of summer sunlight landed over the destroyed laboratory.

Android 16 raised his head and looked to the sky. A sky untouched by anyone, the sky of a world destroyed.

"Scanning for Son Goku...Scan complete. Son Goku does not exist in this world. Scanning for other powerful Ki users...Scan complete. There are no powerful Ki users left in this world. Likelihood of Son Goku's Death...100%," Android 16 said, before lowering his head.

Android 16 rose above the ground, flying into the sky, and he flew for hours, looking for Android 17 and Android 18.

After crossing the planet several dozen times and not finding them, the realization that he was alone hit him.

"I am the only one left." He said, not in the way one might say with sorrow or fear, just soft understanding.

He lowered himself to a stream in the middle of the woods, sitting on a large rock at the edge. The silent gurgling of the stream and the occasional chirping of birds were like music to him.

"I could get used to this..." He said, looking up at a finch that was circling his head curiously, and he gently reached out his large hand, and the finch landed on his pointer finger.

"What's your name, little finch?" He asked, and the finch just tilted its head slightly.

"I see..." Android 16 replied, and then spent the next ten minutes in silence with his new finch friend. Then, eventually, the finch spread its wings and took off, with Android 16 watching it soar away.

"I could protect this..." He trailed off.

Then he got up and floated into the sky,

"Let's see how the world is rebuilding." He said, and sped off through the sky like a rocket.

He crossed over cities, farmlands, and all sorts of enclaves that were repairing their buildings, the damage severe.

"I want to help them," Android 16 said, his eyes narrowing as he saw a construction site in a small town, and flew down. Right as he arrived, the wooden support beams from a small building snapped, and Android 16 blitzed forward as a wall of a building came crashing down on a small white dog that just so happened to walk under it.

In a mere moment, Android 16 held the wall up as the dog leisurely walked out from beneath it. When the dog was out of danger, Android 16 lowered the wall gently to the ground.

It felt good to him.

An old man came running over. He was pudgy, had a thick black moustache, and a bald head. He wore a bright blue tuxedo outfit and bowed profusely to Android 16 when he arrived.

"Thank you, big stranger! My dog is getting on in the years, and doesn't see the environment around him too well. And I'm busy overseeing this site. Here, it's not much, but take this Zeni. It's the least I can do." The man stopped bowing and pulled out a wallet from his pants pocket, and a wad of Zeni from his bulging wallet. He handed it to Android 16.

"Your thanks are appreciated, but I am an android. I have no use for currency. Please take care of your dog better in the future." Android 16 responded, pushing back the man's Zeni, and taking to the air again.

He felt good. An idea was forming within him. Whether it was his own, or a remnant of Dr. Gero's son, he wasn't sure, but he was beginning to want to protect the good people in the world, and take care of the animals.

"I'll look around more."

As he flew, he introspected about his recent situation.

'Since Son Goku is dead, my purpose is complete. Overwriting objective. Objective overwrite complete. I must find a new objective.' He thought. He looked from side to side in his position high above the land.

"It is hard to find a new objective." He said, looking down at the land from above.

However, his objective was decided the moment he sat by the stream; it was to protect the little animals that could not help themselves. To help the world rebuild.

He just had to come to that conclusion himself.

As the land rushed by under him, with the summer sun above him, Android 16 had the striking realization that none of this could happen without the destruction of his partner androids, 17 and 18. He felt some sadness from that. He knew 17 and 18 were mischievous to say the least, but for them to be killed, well, that was a bit much. Still, what's done is done, and the world needed him.

With Goku dead, and no one there to protect the weak and the animals, perhaps he could do it?

With no purpose of killing Goku left, Android 16, who had the base of Dr. Gero's simple but bright son, who was far more peaceful than Android 17 or 18, searched for a new purpose. However, he was interrupted due to an unexpected spacetime anomaly. For a brief second, he heard screaming from somewhere else, and rifts began forming in space and time. He could see a strange pink creature through a shattered hole, and the walls of the universe themselves cracked and shattered like glass. Android 16 was thrown through space and time, tossed into a universe far from those under Zeno's control.

"Commander, we're not going to make it!" A Soldier FA Nikke shouted back to her commander, a young man crouching behind a stone wall nearby. Four FAs, three EGs, and one OW were all that were left after a Rapture Ambush. Their transport vehicles had been torn to shreds, and two commanders had already died. Not to mention, many Nikkes had been destroyed in the resulting firefight.

"I'm trying to think. I don't want to die!" The commander gritted his teeth, sweat pouring from under his short brown hair, his blue eyes clenched shut as he desperately tried to think. A burn wound tore across his shoulder and through his lightly armored outfit.

A screeching scream erupted through the sky, and from a rift of space and time, came an object shooting across the sky.

Boom!

Like a comet, it slammed into the earth, tearing through a cloud of Husk-class Raptures. The Lord-class Rapture that had just arrived was violently crushed under whatever it was that landed. The nearby Raptures turned from attacking the Commander to the new arrival.

Like the calm before the storm, there was a brief silence.

"Where am I?" A low mechanical male voice came from the smoke.

The Raptures opened fire.

"Disengage and follow me!" The Commander, taking action because of the distraction, pulled his Nikkes back, breaking away in a sprint.

Moments later, the ground seized and shook as a brilliant yellow light flashed behind them with a blaring roar. Then silence. Cold dead silence.

The Commander regained his balance, gripping the shoulder of a FA for balance. He stopped and turned back, seeing nothing but a smoking crater the size of a football stadium where the Raptures once were. The buildings, the streets, all vanished.

"Commander, we need to get you to safety." The FA said, tugging on his hand with almost enough force to dislocate it, yet he was mesmerized by what was happening.

"Wait..." He murmured, and sure enough, out of the smoke, walked a man. Well, it looked like a man, but whatever it was stood over seven feet tall, had bulging muscles, and bright green armor on his chest and legs.

"Human, it is safe for now, but I recommend you get to permanent safety. Those machines will return soon. Those machines are bad. I don't like them." The man said in a robotic voice, looking at the Commander before looking out across the horizon of broken buildings and shattered streets.

Turning away, the giant man bent down before shooting into the air with a violent sonic boom.

The commander watched as the giant stopped midair, reached out both arms, and then all hell broke loose. Streams of brilliant yellow energy arced across the sky like shooting stars, before descending onto their targets.

BOOM!

The resulting explosions tore the commander and even his Mass Produced Nikke units off their feet, with their roars of destruction from their detonation far away. As if atomic bombs had just rapidly detonated in the area, massive clouds of dirt and dust burst into the sky where hives of raptures were sensed.

As the giant robotic man descended from the sky, he landed next to the commander.

The mass-produced Nikkes quickly surrounded the commander protectively, one of them shouting at him to freeze and state his affiliation.

Android 16 stood not ten feet from the Commander.

"My affiliation? I am Android 16, manufactured by the Red Ribbon Army. I do not intend to harm humanity, if that is your question. I want to see the animals happy again, and with these machines all over the planet, that is not possible." Android 16 explained, crossing his arms across his chest.

"I have bought you some time. Get to safety." He said, turning away from the commander.

"Wait, don't you want to come back to the Ark?" The commander asked. If he could bring back this strange robotic man, perhaps he could gain some prestige as a commander.

"A strange question. I do not know what the 'Ark' is. It is not in my databases. Until the birds can fly freely in the sky, the spotted deer can walk in the forests, and the little hedgehogs can relax in the sun, I don't think my job is done. Though your invitation is appreciated. Perhaps after I have cleared out a large enough portion of land, I will visit this 'Ark'" Android 16 said, before bursting into the sky again.
Then, just as fast as he came, he shot across the sky towards some faraway place, and was gone.
