• A notice about Rule 3 regarding sites hosting pirated/unauthorized content has been made. Please see here for details.
  • Staff is working to deal with the problem of synonymous tags. See here for more information and to suggest tag mergers.
  • QQ will have forum downtime on October 21, starting at 10:00 AM Eastern time, for software updates.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.

I THOUGHT YOU GUYS WERE ALL GONE FOR REAL THIS TIME!

QQ is back, bay-beeeh! Fuck that security hole! Like, who is retarded enough to hear something like 351 key or whatever, and come to the conclusion the keys can be 0 to 350?

Wait, what's the problem? Why is everyone acting like something unexpected happened?
Like, the site administration literally warned everyone in advance that it would shut down at 10 AM in some US time zone.
So, why did anyone think the forum was dead for good?

Could be like me, don't check the forum notices(or the site) for a couple of days and get blindsided :V

Basically a bunch of idiots coded some fundamental internet security thing that caused PHP or whatever to be compromised. As in "4 has been generated as an actual key" kind of compromised.

Naturally any site with an active staff had to scramble and patch as soon as the update went live.

Note: There was multiple unrelated massive security issues that day.

The thing about having "4" as a key was totally unrelated to PHP. That was instead for one of the trusted services that creates certificates files for websites so they can prove they are who they say they are. Which allowed anyone to make your browser think they're actually say Microsoft.

The PHP thing was one of those 'tiny, deep in the code' bugs that gets found from time to time in stuff but would let a skilled hacker run stuff as admin on your server.

It finally dawned on me that I am not as spry as I used to be.

Missed one night of sleep, now my body is rebelling by catching me the virus or something out of the blue. Joints ache, nose is clogged, I cough up my throat, my head periodically aches, my lower back hurts, and I sometimes get a little dizzy when I move my head to lie down.

...once there were times where I could just shrug off a sleepless night, now I feel like I'm at death's door. I mean, the worst feels like it's over by now, yesterday kicked my ass something fierce, but still. My 20s are over. I'm 30 now.

lol. Its October shake it off, go down to the corner cafe get a bagel and some fresh pressed orange juice

Sorry, but does anyone know anything about how and if Sofurry has been reacting to the whole PHP and security issues? By the time I had thought to check and see if the site was down, most of the other sites I usually go to had already been patched. I'm asking because I'm just wanting to know if Sofurry has done anything, and in my experience, just asking on the site itself is a bit of a gamble on how long it'll take to get a response.

So yeah, extremely low voter turnouts are nothing new for where I live, but this is the first ever election that everyone basically blew off or quietly quit on.
Probably because we are redoing it in a week's time, but still.
Usually there are signs placed on every apartment building entrance telling you the exact number of the section where you have to vote.

None this time.

Turnout is allegedly under 20% of eligible voters iirc.

And almost every single president - vice president pair is technically not party affiliated, only backed.
I mean seriously, having to scroll through frigging people's names rather than choosing by party is annoying.

And it was such a massive problem even a bunch of the people working for the election commission were bitching about it in the outside smoking area.

What's more I literally sae people carrying around beer and inside of bars, when it is actually prohibited to sell alcohol during election day and decision day.
🤣
I know we all decided that we will do better on the 1st but this is ridiculously low effort.

... are you bulgarian? I didn't know ya'll couldn't buy booze on election day but its the only country I can think of who had elections recently and has low turnout

Not sure where else I would ask this question and be in the correct thread. Let me know if there's a dedicated space for it, and I'll move there.

The Question: Is there a way to ban tags on QQ? Example; I have my notifications set to alert me any time someone makes a new thread on the NSFW Creative Writing forum. I can browse the new content from my alerts, without missing something if I have to work late, and the threads got bumped into page 3+ while I was AFK. Today, I looked upon my alert list, and spotted no less than three new threads involving fandoms I enjoy... with a loud and proud, "AI Written" or "AI Assisted" tag plastered right in front. Invariably, those threads get an immediate trip to File 13. I couldn't help but wonder, however, if there was, in our technologically advanced era, a method to AUTOMATE that process, so I do not even have to look at such things, cluttering up my alerts list. It SEEMS like something we should have, yet I cannot find it in any of my settings... Can anyone offer some help?

Not from watched forum alerts as far as I know, but as Melmar said, you can create a filter for tags you don't want to see when browsing the forum, which you can then bookmark on your browser for instant access. Of course, if you add/remove tags from the filter you also need to update the bookmark.

Bottom right of the picture, or top right of the forum's box with threads.

While that is helpful for the rare occasions I directly browse the thread lists, I was looking for a way to block tags from here:
I want to block them in the same way you would block a specific thread or user.
