Took my first loan yesterday. Couldn't make ends meet for the month, so I felt like I had little choice. Gonna need to be more frugal with my finances for the next year to pay it off, but hopefully I can manage it.

Being a debt slave is not the kind of cyberpunk future I imagined myself ending up as experiencing.

There be reasons why I'm sad that most adaptations of biblical stories focus on Jesus and Moses.
 
For the past few months I've been living out of my car. It was mostly a personal choice. Not something I was forced into. I quit my old job because it was miserable and couldn't find anything I really wanted to do, but of course without work you can't afford rent, so I moved out and into my car. I had already done a bit of part-time car camping and have been doing research for a while so it wasn't too hard of an adjustment. The trick was finding a quiet place to sleep that wouldn't get the neighbors to call the cops on you. Also since I had family in the area I could occasionally bum a shower and do my laundry, and they didn't mind.

That said, while it hasn't been a terrible experience, I found that the hashtag van life isn't for me. My car is just long enough for me to stretch out fully despite being tall, but it's still fairly cramped and you can't really spend an extended amount of time in it. Sure I live in a city and there's a lot open late but at the end of the day I just want a small place to myself. Plus I consider myself a gamer and you can't exactly hook up your PS4 in a small car. Maybe a proper camper van but I can't afford that. I have found a job that I actually enjoy and hopefully have a place to move in next month. It's nothing special, just a small room in a trailer park but a proper bed and desk to put my computer PS4 on with a kitchen and bathroom to share will be nice.

Can you share what's the exact condition you have? One of my friends has something somewhat similar, where his optic nerves apparently cross in such a way that only one of them works properly. They other eye technically works fine on its own, but the nerve connection is fucking it all up. One of the main reasons he has been refused corrective eye surgery so far.

Sorry it took me awhile to respond.

I don't remember the exact condition, but I remember the doctors said that my eye was always weak. So much so that as a child I was only looking out of my good eye. I didn't even understand that I didn't have depth perception for quite a while. They tried to strengthen my eye by putting a patch on my good eye. The hope was that by using my bad eye exclusively it would be strengthened.

Didn't work and they tried for years. All I got for my trouble was a history of headaches.

After all is said and done the doctors tell me that surgery would be a waste of time.

Doesn't sound like I have the same condition as your friend.

Five hours and a bunch of heavy lifting later, her husband comes in from the new patio, freshly grilled flat-irons wrapped in bacon all steaming alongside potatoes and onions with bourbon running like water.

Get home a few hours later, get washed up to head over to my sister's place for my mother's birthday. Sis has made dinner for us all...New York strips with bacon-and-cream-cheese loaded baked potatoes and toasted rye bread.

I think I can feel my heart slowing down.
