Yes, someof those archetypes fall into the category of "are you trying to prove Pentex is right about werewolves?"

There is also the fact that a lot of people that have the truly fancy cars treat their vehicles better then their family.

A car that was stolen by a Glass Walker whose spirit is now hellbent on revenge because his owner treated it like royalty and it's now used and abused by the people the GW sold it to is a fun premise for at least a one shot adventure.
Glass walkers going from cockroach to spider whose ban is not destroying complex tech

Which is so fucking vague and means you should never be able to blow up a building in modern day

Honestly, if I did use that lore. I would have to come up with some complex bullshit about how Ananasa got the Glass Walkers of all tribes dancing to her tune and leaving behind Cockroach. Which for the whole tribe doesn't work but some local sects doing it? yeah I can see it.

Yep, that ban is ridiculous. Wrecking practically anything mechanical invented after the 19th century can fit into "complex tech" if you want to be pedantic (and spirits 9 times out of 10 are)

The best explanation I found on forums is that the Garous as usual dropped the idiot ball courtesy of the Samsa (mockery breed were-cockroaches made by Pentex) and abandoned him due to the percieved slight/fall.

Cockroach trying to recruit the abused new creatures: Yes, come to the side of Gaia and help me fuck up Pentex assets the others can't reach since you are practically immune to radiation.

The Garou: TRAITOR!

Cockroach: ...

Bat: First time?

They had cockroach go full Wyrm apparently but also is trying to betray it and join the bone gnawers which feels like they went "well cockroach is creepy and gross and spider is techy of course so let's make him shadier and associated with the bone gnawers."

Hell, it makes more sense for it to be deeper in the weaver side due to thinking Weaver has won than poorly and vaguely taking something from the Apocalypse book that was meant to be part of a chronicle and hand waving a bunch of developments

Yes, someof those archetypes fall into the category of "are you trying to prove Pentex is right about werewolves?"
Pentex is right about the garou, creating those fucking mutts is the worst mistake Gaia ever made. If she'd never invented those gibbering retards, she'd still be alive. It wasn't any servant of the Wyrm that doomed the earth, it was those fucking mongrels wiping out the only people who could unfuck the situation, and I'll never let them forget that. Now there's nothing left but a rotting corpse, and an endless spiral into damnation waiting for all of us, and those damned curs are the cause.

Having a ban on destroying technology is pretty much just a flat "fuck you, go die" as far as fighting the Wyrm goes. If you can't even try to break the machines raping Gaia's corpse, what purpose do you have? Worthless mongrels can't even rage properly. The ediface of the Weaver has long been bent to the whim of the Wyrm, not being able to break them is just surrender with extra self delusion. If you can't meaningfully damage your enemies' operations because you tied your own hands, you may as well blow your brains out because you've already lost.

Cockroach falling to the Wyrm, when their whole thing is survival at all costs, is ridiculous. The Wyrm is the antithesis of survival, it's everything Cockroach desperately doesn't want, a hopeless slide into inevitably with no way out. There is no good side to the Wyrm to get on, no path to long term survival when you swear yourself to death and destruction, and no hope for a better future. Cockroach wants their children to thrive, and they can withstand the Wyrms influence better than most so I can almost understand why one might think they'd side with it, but throwing themself into the gnashing jaws of annihilation is exactly the opposite of ensuring you have a future. Fuck, these new writers have anti-talent.

One of the archetypes for nuwerewolf is car liberator
Stealing cars from people who "can afford to have a car stolen" because they believe the machine spirit is crying out to them
You can never hate the writers and their pet furry ecoterrists enough

The current edition it literally written by someone that hates Werewolf as an IP, not unlike certain people in this thread that insist on continually talking about things they dislike, what did you actually expect?

Iirc they also have such a raging hate on for the old Get that in the new lore even all of the BSD going back to the white howlers at the same time and of their own will is infinitely more likely than one single modern Cult of Fenris going good again.

It's outright stated in gold letters signed by the pope that no get mechanically or lorewise can EVER be redeemed.

God new shit is just sooo bad!

Yeah I started my lore with V5 but rapidly went to the old editions to actually learn about the lore.

The only new books I can recommend are the Savage Age ones in StoryTeller's Vault. They are fun, they give you that Gendry Tartakovsky's "Primal" vibe, they care about other Fera and the creators are true fans and incredibly nice.

Concerning W5 I am not trying to raise false hope but supposedly the new Tribes of Gaia book I mentioned before on this thread is not bad. I can't confirtm that however as I do not have the book and won't get it untill it comes out officially on DriveThru.

Speaking of other Werewolf fan-works;

I forget if werebadgers and rabbits are a thing but when writing a story where a person attuned to spirits is getting the shit beat out of her by a werewolf had thought of her seeing the spirits of Badger and Rabbit urging her for revenge

Wizard: Uncle Wiggly, Dr. Badger, what have the werewolves done to your children?

Somewhere an early 20th century Malkavian perks up and swears bloody vengeance upon all wolfkind while calling all Garou Woozy Wolf

The board game based on this is still in print

They were never mentioned but it's entirely possible they were a thing.

Currently active confirmed Fera:

  1. Ajaba (werehyenas)
  2. Ananasi (werespiders)
  3. Bastet (werecats)
  4. Corax (wereravens)
  5. Gurahl (werebears)
  6. Hakken (asian/japanese werewolves)
  7. Kitsune (werefoxes)
  8. Mokolé (werecrocodiles/werereptiles)
  9. Nagah (weresnakes)
  10. Nuwisha (werecoyotes)
  11. Ratkin (wererats)
  12. Rokea (weresharks)

Mentioned named lost/extinct Breeds:

  1. Ao (Wereturtles)
  2. Apis (wereaurochs)
  3. Bunyip (Australian Garou)
  4. Camazotz (werebats)
  5. Grondr (wereboars)
  6. Khara (Weresabertooth)
  7. Okuma (Werepanda Gurahl lineage)

Mentioned not named extinct Breeds:

  1. The Insect Races (Bees, Hornets, Ants, Termites, Locusts) - Exterminated by the Ananasi + Moth exterminated by the Weaver
  2. Most dinosaur type Fera - Died out through unknown means during the Wonder Work event.
  3. Supposedly ammonite shifters, bristlecreeper shifters, and bird shifters. The ammonite became extinct along with their animal kin in the Wonder Work, the other two bred/evolved into the mammalian and avian lines respectively
  4. There were supposedly weresloths, wereskunks, and werewhales and were-megatheriums that were slaughtered in the War of Rage, but they might just be a Corax joke
  5. Shapeshifting sea anemones called Qyrall, who served Qyrl (Underwater aspect of the Wyrm). The Rokea defeated and apparently eradicated them.
  6. The Nagah claim there were freshwater fishs Fera, who went extinct in the War of Rage.
  7. The Shadow Lords remember a breed of werefalcons that were destroyed in the War of Rage.
  8. The Fianna remember tribes of wereotters and wereeagles that were exterminated War of Rage.
