Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Out in the white of the blizzard, he saw little. Only his sensors and the pre-mission briefing told him what was near.
Guess the Rebels managed to hold off the Empire long enough for one of Hoth's many blizzards to hit.
His job was to keep the TIE's off the B-Wings. Easy. He'd blown up dozens of TIE's. They were practically made of flimsy.
At least you got proper starfighters to take on the AT-ATs this time, instead of just snowspeeders.
Some paid for this surprise. Two down already. Ril didn't remember their names, but Shell-squadron was new. Pulled together from a dozen near-dead squadrons from across the region.

It was a consequence of their cockiness, to be honest. Resources had started to become less scarce. Success after success had emboldened a not-insignificant number of cell leaders. Now, they were down a half dozen major cells because of foolish mistakes.
Yeah I guess the Mid-Rim retreat not being as bad means the more aggressive cells were still around to get slaughtered.
"The base is nearly evacuated! All squadrons, reposition and escort our evacuation ships off-world!"

From there, Shell squadron ripped around, pivoting back towards the base. A cursory look at the base revealed the extent of their situation.

Every hangar wide open, empty of anything of importance. Even now as the final freighters left, people were dragging any technology and weapons they could carry with them. Someone even grabbed what looked to be the caf machine.
Huh, I wonder if this means Jobin, Mon Mothma's son, got off Hoth in this timeline? He was real good infantry commander and his Wilderness Fighters gave a real good showing against Vader and his men.

If Jobin does get off Hoth and survives the war, I wonder how that's going to affect Mon and her political and personal life going forward? Having a son not die for the Rebellion is a pretty big change up.
Ahead of him was another Whirlwind, tailing a friendly. Its side was to him, gun turrets blocked by its wings.

He held down the trigger, watching with glee as the shots connected, enemy shield rippling blue.

Then the wings folded down, and the turret aimed at him.
Yeah if that's Vader Jobin is probably surviving. Unless his transport gets blown up. Less of a dramatic end than dying by Vader's personal hand.
One day, not long after the destruction of the death star, maybe a month or two to really let the chaos ramp up, I'd take a ride in the asteroid field.
Las after a month or two from Endor your subordinates aren't going to be letting you go on a ship smaller than a Star Destroyer out of fear of losing you.
"Oh stop moping Ife, you'll be fine. Just remember to speak honestly about your feelings, and use protection!"

Her cheeks darkened, and her mouth opened in shock, and I cut the call on the spot. Funnier that way.

Though…speaking honestly. Now that could work…
Las is either planning to be honest with his citizens or getting married or becoming a consort to someone incredibly wealthy. Either way I am here for it.

At least the bright side is that the sectors green as grass naval and fighter forces are probably now being ground into an Elite level formation in their own right by being attached to Vaders Death squadron.

Given time and personnel rotations/ retirement/ service termination due to wounds I could see the sectors academies growing VERY powerful with the influx of elite veterans

Project 3 Orbital Hyperlane Interdiction Net
  • Concept
    • This project involves deploying a dense orbital matrix consisting of thousands of high-tensile, automated tractor-beam minelets. The linked beams would form an invisible net across low orbit to snare and physically rip apart incoming enemy starfighters attempting to drop from hyperspace.
  • Reason for Denial
    • The engineering division overlooked a glaring common-sense flaw. The inevitable tractor-beam resonance cascade would cause the net to snap outward, dragging local communication satellites and our own Imperial supply convoys into the meat grinder.
Still catching up to the story, but I like how this guy nearly reinvented the Stormseeds.

You know what would really be funny, if Mara Jade, hearing about where Vader got his new and much more deadly fighters and ships, came to investigate the sector and somehow ended up half adopted by Laz. Poor guy can't get a date but still got a kid(she should be an adult right now, but emotionally a bit stunted).

Rebel pilots too used to the TTK of a standard TIE will have a fatal first time encounter, when the single direct hit or glancing blow they expected to work plinks off their shields.

Bet the caf machine and a good chunk of their non-military equipment are Myto products. Which is gonna be an awkward conversation when Vader wanders the halls and bays, just to see Myto affiliate logos on everything, from the random tablet laying around to the winterized colonist prefab bunk rooms/buildings.

Vader on holo: "Do you know what this is?" Holding up a tablet

Las: "Yes Lord Vader, that should be a tablet, one of the earliest products my sector produced for commercial tra- ACK!" Starts floating

Vader: "Why did I find this and more on Hoth, are you supplying them?"

Proceeds a half choked conversation that shifts to the tablet's features and the many variants with specialty apps, notably visible interest in the engineer designing programs.

Vader: "... I'm keeping this, send more later"

The tithe continues to take it's toll, but we need to spin this in media to insure the people know why the pressure is high and why the sudden hardships are piling on. The galactic civil war is hitting a fever pitch, their fellow imperials are being besieged on all sides by the rebels clashing with the military and navy, while the pirates and criminals cut at their sides in the distraction. This will feed two loops that Las needs to solve his current issues.

1. Public sentiment, the people may start to get discontent that materials are getting strained that lessens output to the products they want, BUT if the understand that the other territories are under fire and the war effort requires them to send more materials so those sectors can fight back. This tells them that they're safe cause others are taking the flak, that Myto is prosperous as the sole provider of vital resources and will raise their vigilance against odd behavior for rebels.

2. Labor vacuum, "Myto is safe, Myto is prosperous" will be a grapevine slogan on the net. It will continue to draw in more colonists and now refugees fleeing worlds near or currently fighting with the rebels. But now, it'll draw the eye of small to medium sized corporations that see that things in their areas are at risk and any with infrastructure capable of being moved and shipped out will do it despite a governor's or moff's ire, when they're facing poor conditions that'll see them on the chopping block. If we get enough companies wanting to move house and swear to being Myto exclusive, especially with fuel/ore refinery stations will help immensely for the tithes.

I wonder why Hoth seemingly went better for the Rebels compared to canon? I'd have assumed whatever butterflies Las kicked up would've made it even more of a stomp on the Empire's part, especially with all the new equipment that Vader stole requisitioned.

I can't really think of anything too crazy that Las did that would've helped the Rebels really. They've got that station in the sector but I wouldn't think that'd be all that important.

"I spend much of my waking life at your side, and so I know full well that not a single consort, concubine, or whore of any species or gender has graced your bed."

"Well–"

"Your hand doesn't count."

"...my imagination is a potent thing."

I like to imagine our Moff gets called Maidenless once, triggered, and locked in to get himself a lover just because he got called Maidenless

It's the repair yard/dock the Rebel set up near Minda early. They've been using it as a major waypoint for their logistic.

The Mid Rim retreat, probably did not go as canon. Rebels are being heavily supplied on Myto products through the repair station front and they're building more of the special fighters like the B-Wings on the worlds they've taken, won't even be surprised if they're pumping out A-Wings too
