Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Also, Streen is effectively "Anti-Commissar", given that Commisars are part of Departamento Munitorium (part of Administratum responsible for military supplies), and are responsible for "ensuring that supplies provided by Munitorium onto battlefield, are spent in most efficient way".
Streen cares about his Corpses like Pong Krell cares about his Clones, in that he cares about them suffering and dying in as large of numbers as possible. Streen is an actively malicious commander towards his Corpses. His idea of improving his battle plans is increasing the potential amount of casualties on both sides.

He is so human supremacist that his perfect mission is having both the enemy and all his non-human troops killed. With him surviving and getting rewarded for it of course. It is a wonder why his superiors him in charge of a non-human Imperial force, but it makes more sense when you remember the Velcar Free Corps are being sabotaged by the Imperials leaders in Velcar who back the pirates the Corps are suppose for fight.

Description
"The Detsenal, for those who looked upon the Ferdana and still saw corners to cut." - Satirical motto for the Detsenal among Myto's tank enthusiast community.

The Detsenal M-7E Tank is the Primitech Solution's foray into making an armored vehicle dedicated to the arms export market. Promoted as a way to showcase Myto innovation to the wider galaxy without risking any of the more sensitive military technology. The Detsenal is a budget light tank designed for mass production marketed to Imperial PDFs and Imperial aligned allies who lack the budget or political influence to purchase more expensive or powerful armored vehicles.

Background
"All right lads the Sector is in the grips of the Quota and standards have never been lower. Let's show them what older tech can do!" - "Rallying" speech by Primitech's head designer.

Circumstances for tank production had never been more strained than during the Quota Years. The Empire was desperate for military equipment and strategic resources. Their scramble to secure ever more led to shortages in the very industries the Imperial Military relied on.

One of the affected industries was tank production. Expensive components such as military grade fusion generators and blaster cannons were being pulled in over a dozen different directions from both within and without the sector. Amidst all the confusion and shortages Primitech decided to launch a new product. Rather than competing for all those contested resources, the company decided to see how far they could go with a small civilian grade fusion engine. Their proposal was to minimize energy requirements in both motorization and weapons systems to ensure continual production even during Quota shortages.

Design
"Driving this hurt me in my soul, and my back. It is just a groundcar with a turret bolted on top." - Test pilot after completing the first test drive of the Detsenal prototype.

Primitech certainly lived up to its name when designing the Destenal. Inspiration was taken from salvagers' land crawlers on Rykeixia and ancient heavy duty groundcardesigns. The chassis is kept relatively light in armor to save on weight and material costs. Four heavy duty wheels were used for locomotion over the more traditional repulsorlift designs to save on energy requirements. These wheels were symmetrically connected to a stable and relatively high riding hull.

Attached on top of this hull was a fairly cramped 2 person rotating turret able to carry a a gunner and a loader with the driver in the hull. Leg room and back support were sacrificed to keep a majority of non-motive parts within the turret and in reach of the crew. Electronics such as sensors and targeting system were kept to what was accessible to civilians such as civilian grade PADs rather than compete with more favored military products for military electronics.

Armaments were kept relatively low power in line with the Detsenal's design philosophy. Leeway was given to the vehicle's anti-infantry weapon in the form of a light repeating blaster. However, the main cut corner of the design was in its main weapon, the Explosive Launcher Cannon in lieu of a more conventional blaster cannon. A micro repulsorlift powered launcher meant to fire physical rounds in a similar, if cruder manner to the PLX-2M portable missile launcher. A longer barrel than its missile launcher counterpart gives the ELC more range for its dumb fire munitions than the PLX. Unfortunately the need for physical ammunition means the ELC will always have a more limited number of shots compared to a blaster cannon.

The ELC is able to launch missiles, various grenades, and smart munitions. However more often than not the weapon uses dumb fire explosive shells, typically produced locally. The most common munitions are concussion shells, which are concussion grenades whose casings were converted to be more aerodynamic and then modified to detonate on impact. In times of true desperation, even more archaic forms of explosives or even metal slug shells can launched from the ELC. The slugs rarely go fast enough for anti-armor duties against modern vehicles, but they still pulp organics and are relatively dead simple to manufacture so while the ELC can run out of ammo tactically, it is difficult to do so logistically.

All these compromises allowed the Detsenal to use a fusion generator of a far lower output than a typical armored vehicle. The generator had such a low output requirement that replacements could be imported from most starports or manufactured in most light industry deserving of the name. If not for the ELC, the Detsenal could pass for a decently armored low tech civilian vehicle. Combined with the other design choices made the vehicle a reliable, if low quality option that could be domestically maintained on a lot more lower tech and industrial base worlds than its peers.

Performance
"Alright lads, just a few more drives in the Ancient One and hopefully Primitech can foist it off to another sucker and get it out of our vehicle pool." - PDF commander motivating his troops to get back in the Detsenal for another patrol.

To gather field data about the Detsenal's performance, a limited production of testing units were distributed to sector PDFs that owed Primitech a favor. Crews complained about quality of life features and slow speed. Quartermasters complained about the differences from more "traditional" Imperial vehicles. Commanders complained about the lack of all terrain capabilities and low power of the ELC especially when using domestic rounds.

Yet throughout all the filed complaints there were some glimmers of praise. Lower tech worlds praised the Detsenal's accessibility and ease of understanding. PDFs that didn't sent the tank into mountains and swamps found it a long performing, reliable option for slower convoys and low priority patrols. The inclusion of a tow cable system received glowing reviews by quartermasters in postings lacking in vehicle recovery and hauling equipment. Commanders that pitted the Detsenal against enemies of similar or lower tech level found it an economical use of force compared to heavy weaponry laden heavy repulsortanks. There was even some requests for further units from a few lower tech agriworlds to guard their vast fields due to similarities to their farming vehicles.

Conclusion
"Look I know it is not good enough for the General, but if we can't meet those orbit high standards anyway, then we can at least make something that we can sell." - Primitech Solutions designer on the Detsenal's quality.

The overall results of field testing told Primitech the Detsenal had found a niche, however limited, that they could market to. Plans are being made to move the tank from a limited production to a dedicated production facility. Talks were held about reaching out to worlds in nearby sectors in economic cooperation with the Myto sector. While unlikely to see too much profit beyond breaking even, the Detsenal was hoped to be Primitech's foot in the door to a profitable future relationship with the Imperial Military industrial complex for many years to come.

Have been on roll lately and want to get this out before the Fated Day comes in the story. What's worse than the Ferdana Light Tank I made a while back? Rolling back even further to a Sci Fi WW1 aesthetic mix between tank and armored car. A low output fusion generator is still a fusion generator, so powering an armored wheeled vehicle shouldn't be too much of an ask. The Detsenal's attraction is hopefully being "tank enough" for those who can no longer rely on a galaxy spanning military logistics network, which will be far more common after the Emperor plummets into the air circulation fan. Still better than a TIE Crawler in my personal opinion. I can see the Detsenal being a very simplified armored option that could be exported to pro-Imperial allies after Endor with minimal risk of them being used effectively against Las' realm.

The inspiration for the Detsenal was the Star Wars Land Crawler and the Gyb-och Gun Wagon from the Quar tabletop game. The first iteration of the Detsenal (let's call it the M-6E) used to be worse with the seats for the crew having almost no vertical leg room along with an isolated and remote controlled turret that couldn't be access from within the crew compartment. The crew could sit upright in the hull, but their legs were mostly horizontal and the pedals were hip height with the driver. I eventually decided to be somewhat more merciful to those poor tank crews by switching over to the current M-7E design.

I guess that there are "Thug groups" whose leaders "cosplay AT-TE Commanders" on their illegally-gained Detsenals.

Depends how Mad Maxy a world gets after the Death Star goes pop. These may be cheap military vehicles, but they are still military, and if the local thuggery is getting access to military combat vehicles, that world's domestic security situation is well and truly frakked. That being said, if you are a small community or a rival gang, watching your mate Guppo get turned into Goopo via several kilograms of metal going at high speeds is pretty intimidating. I as a civilian would certainly be prepared to start paying protection money if some thugs got a hold of one of these.

Really swap out the repeating blaster for an easier to source and maintain agricultural flamer and a Detsenal would make for an excellent main vehicle/terror weapon for an up and coming bandit warlord looking to carve out a mini-fiefdom out of some villages and small towns in the Post-Endor era. The bigger factions and cartels might kill me, but they also have to be bothered to send the forces to wherever my fiefdom is in the first place. The amount of Jedi and do-gooder expeditions are likely at an all time low in the galaxy at this point, so a warlord could probably last a decent while.
