I just got a R8 warning for something I don't really think I deserved, but think I don't care enough to appeal about.

But I do now have two active warnings - albeit one that will expire soon - and I just want grasp, because I can't seem to find it in any formal thread, though I'm likely missing it, to what extent is it a big deal in terms of putting me at risk of future, more severe punishment? Obviously, I'm going to try to avoid crossing the line I crossed here going forward, but if this warning/infraction is something I should be seriously worried about in some sense, beyond a general 'do better', then it might be worth actually making an appeal.

I don't think it is something that has me like, teetering on the edge as long as I don't start being obnoxious about R8 and get a bunch more warnings on the same theme (which I don't plan to do), but I want to check, in at least general terms how much warnings should be worrisome, I guess?

We do not have a formal policy on escalations due to past warnings, nor any SB-like feature of automatic bans based on warning points, etc. Likewise, the question of whether a warning is "active" is not directly relevant, except in that it determines the duration of a penalty such as a mute, if this is attached to a warning (not applicable to any of yours).

Staff will consider a poster's history of warnings when deciding on the penalty that attaches to an infraction. This is done on a case-by-case basis, so there's no easy answer about how much of an effect your warnings will have. However, I will note that posters who come in for serious escalations in penalties almost always have a far longer warning history than you do.
