This particular horse has been beaten to death, I'm sure, but I'm late to the party since I only got into Invincible this week. There are many examples I can give, but Conquest's battle and escape is good example given we have some real details to analyze it.
He's enchased in a 400 ton block of tungsten-steel alloy, an incredibly hard and dense metal, but breaks out with seemingly no trouble at all even though we've seen Mark taking damage from way softer metals. The scene of him getting hammered over the head is a good example.
'Conquest is stronger than Mark.'
Only problem with this is Mark bludgeoning Conquest nearly to death with his head alone. Mark's head was relatively undamaged, while Conquest's was turned into minced meat. If their heads were equally hard, Mark would've taken an equal amount of damage. If he was weaker, he would've killed himself headbutting Conquest.
Again, Mark took damage by being wacked over the head with that hero's hammer. There are plenty of other scenes where X, Y or Z weapon/material is able to damage him. And he can damage Conquest, so their physical hardness isn't disproportional.
So how did Conquest break out of his prison when the metal encasing him was stronger than he was? (Again, we've been shown that viltrumites are not harder than all metals. Sinclair's tools can cut through viltrumite tissue. Cecil would be aware of this. He wouldn't pick a metal weaker than viltrumite tissue.)
'He might not be as hard as X, Y or Z material, but he can produce a lot of force.'
Doesn't work. You can hurl an egg at a block of tungsten really, really hard. The egg's still going to explode without leaving a scratch on the block of tungsten.
TL;DR—some of the feats in the show/comics don't make sense. best not to think too much about it and enjoy it for what it is, i guess
