Loki: The God of Magic

Wonder what methods the MC will think of to ensure his eventual Eternal Youth/Immortality? Instead of just living for his set 5000-ish years. Maybe his control of his own Atoms will become so complete that he can alter his own physical age? Maybe his Shapeshifting will even go beyond just illusions to true Shapeshifting? Without needing to have the unstable genetics/magic or Angrboda?

Also looking forward to how he handles his training for leading/ruling people. Would be entertaining to see how advanced and successful his village/people become. Would be funny if he intentionally guided them to develop as a Magical World, similar to Harry Potter...

It definitely feels odd that Odin is not coming to the MC for help in keeping Hela contained/imprisoned though. Especially with the MC's ability to both make and power the Tenth Realm.

Midgard

1800 A.D.

It was time.

He was about to descend beneath Midgard's mantle and find the nascent Celestial. He required absolute focus to open a portal into the pocket where the Celestial was.

He opened the portal, straining to keep the connection stable, and walked through quickly.

And arrived before a human-sized entity, suspended in a dark, crystalline cave. It appeared more like a golden suit of armor with four eyes than what he would describe as a living being. What mattered wasn't the armor, but the energy inside it.

Careful to not awaken the Celestial, he began his work. Scans of the energy signatures revealed them to be wildly different than anything he had ever considered. Dense, with the capability of direct control over matter, the Celestial was certainly a dangerous entity to tangle with.

Good thing he wasn't looking for a fight.

He raised his hand to tear off a part but squeezed his fist. It could wake the entity, and then he would be in trouble.

Once he had all the scans he wanted, he opened the portal back to the surface.

"Who are you to disturb this planet?" He turned sharply at the feminine voice. He did not feel hostility from her. In truth, her green and gold garb and mature look gave her a very maternal feeling.

"I am but a humble traveler. " Her presence shared similarities with what he had glimpsed from the nascent Celestial. The Celestials must have worried about possible destruction of the embryos and had left guards behind.

They too feared death.

"For what purpose are you here?"

"I routinely travel for exploration. What of you? You certainly are not a native."

"We have been sent to protect this planet."

He tilted his head. She was telling the truth, and it was not an attempt to led him astray with half truths. She truly believed that was the reason of her existence here.

Loki smiled, eyes lit. This was truly precious. The Celestials had left guards on this world who had no idea why they were truly here.

He opened a gate to Asgard and floated back, eyes still glued on Ajak.

Asgard

He actually considered killing the Celestial's guardian to study her. Too many unknowns existed currently for it. Was the guardian alone? If not, the rest of her kind would seek her.

Worse, if the Celestials investigated the loss of a guardian, Asgard might face with one.

He shook his head. They were not ready for a planet-sized cosmic entity.

Reaching the laboratory, he transferred the readings into the computer. There was much work to be done.

The research on the Celestials had revealed more than he was expecting. The energy consisted of subatomic particles. They could affect matter by changing the composition and state of atoms.

It explained why the Celestials were so dangerous. This was not merely about making gold from lead; it was more akin to creating Uru from pure energy. The synthesizers did the same job, only the Celestials were infinitely more advanced.

Like the difference between a sling and a destabilized seidr blaster.

Assuming control of these Celestial particles could increase his strength to match the ultimate enemy's.

1900 A.D.

"A female friend?" His mother's eyes shone brighter than Asgard's sun.

He knew he would pay dearly for it later, but this was necessary for the next part of his work.

"Yes, she and I agreed on a small trip," he said.

"When are you going to introduce her to us?" For the first time, one of her sons had shown interest in a female, rather than avoiding her advances. She wanted to meet her now.

"If I believe it will lead to something serious, I will bring her to Asgard."

His mother laughed, light and high-pitched. "Very well, but I don't want any excuses."

"Understood."

He would simply have to say it did not work out. Disappointing his mother made him feel guilty, but he would bring a partner to meet her.

Eventually.

Svartalfheim

His mother would be disappointed when he explained how the budding relationship he had with the non-existent lady friend did not lead to anything.

He did not wish to lie to her, but if she learned why he wanted to leave Asgard, there would be trouble. He had cracked the secret behind the Celestial particles. He could create a new brand of seidr particles that would give him control over matter and other fundamental forces of the universe.

Gravity had already bent to him; electromagnetism and nuclear forces were the next.

Creating what he termed as the master seidr particles was dangerous work. Work that he could not conduct in the Tenth Realm. Even the smallest mistake would result in destruction that would disturb the digital world enough to actually kill.

Fortunately, Svartalfheim was empty.

He sat cross-legged in the yard before the palace in the hidden city. He raised his arms, fingers spread and facing each other, eyes closed in concentration.

He would modify a single seidr particle to modify it with the lessons learned from studying the nascent Celestial.

Soft, emerald tendrils lashed from each finger, meeting in the middle. This was far more difficult than creating plasma. He wasn't simply changing its state but adding a new component, an act that has never been done before.

He spent hours, still as the dead world around him, painstakingly modifying the particle.

When he had finally done it, there wasn't time to celebrate. The particle began to act uncontrollably. It began to consume his seidr. He cut the connection, instead creating a vacuumed containment shell around it.

It was a mistake.

Asgard

Heimdall tilted his head.

There was an anomaly on Svartalfheim of all worlds, something that should never happen. The realm of the Dark Elves was bereft of life. He peered closer to where the space was collapsing on itself.

Then came a release of power so great, it followed his sight.

Heimdall's head snapped back, as if struck by a physical force. He looked at the ceiling of the observatory with glazed eyes. His white sclera quickly turned red, and tears of blood seeped out of the tear ducts.

The Gatekeeper of Asgard fell, head bouncing on the metal twice. He did not hear the shouts of his own name.

Odin rushed to the Healing Room. He did not remember the last time he had to hurry in his own home.

"Eir, how is he?" he asked. Learning that Heimdall had been attacked troubled his mind. Rare it was for anyone to subvert the gatekeeper's sight, and even rarer to come close enough for an attack.

He looked at one of Asgard's most devout warriors, lying on the table without his armor. The Soul Forge had already detected the cause of the bleeding, and the healers were working on it now. Even then, eyes were tricky organs to heal.

"Whatever struck him damaged his eyes. He will live, but it will take time for the strain on his brain to heal. He will have to stay asleep until then," she explained. Several blood vessels had been ruptured, but Heimdall's eyes were special and more resilient.

Thor barged into the hall, ignoring decorum in lieu of the emergency. "Father, how is Heimdall?"

"Eir says he will heal, but it will take time."

"That is good."

"Thor, alert the Einherjar," he ordered. "Taking Heimdall out of the equation could be a prelude for an assault on Asgard, or on one of the realms." Without the Gatekeeper, Asgard did not have real-time surveillance of the Nine Realms.

Which made it the perfect opportunity to strike.

"At once." Thor turned back to leave.

"Where is your brother?" he asked, stopping his eldest son in his tracks.

Thor averted his eyes for a moment. "He left Asgard to meet with a lady friend. His communications device is turned off. For privacy, I believe."

Odin's one eye blinked. He had not heard any word on Loki having a lady friend. Yet, the situation at hand made it difficult to show his delight. "The timing couldn't have been any worse."

"Regardless, I shall contact the realms we have communications with." Vanaheim, Alfheim, and Nidavellir would be able to send word if there was an assault. Which left Midgard and some of the worlds outside the Nine Realms, such as Nornheim and Ria, in danger.

"Yes, Father. We will be ready to move should it be necessary."

Thor reached the Tenth Realm's control room. Most Einherjar were inside, honing their skills.

"Send a message to all the Einherjar; tell them to leave the Tenth Realm and report to me at the courtyard."

"As you wish, my prince."

Next, he sent a personal message to his companions to gather at the same courtyard. He marched through the palace. The word of the attack on Heimdall had spread quickly. The palace staff was on alert. The guards on duty were already moving to secure the vault and other strategic locations.

Lady Sif and the Warriors Three had appeared as one several minutes after receiving his summons.

"Thor, what has happened?" Sif asked, dismounting.

"There was an attack. Heimdall has been incapacitated. He will heal, but we must be on alert for a possible assault on the Nine Realms."

His friends shared glances with each other, quietly muttering. They took places, Sif and Fandral on the right, and Volstagg and Hogun on the left.

The Einherjar moved out of the gate in two lines, as if an undisturbed stream of water was flowing out. The lines spread aside and quickly filled the courtyard, standing at attention in perfect order.

He gazed at the most elite army in all of the Nine Realms and one of the strongest beyond it.

"Brave Einherjar," he began. "Our Gatekeeper, Heimdall, has been assaulted. He lies in the infirmary and will heal."

"However, during his rest, we do not have the comfort of knowing when and where an attack might come from. It is our duty to protect Asgard and the Nine Realms. For that reason, we shall stay out of the Tenth Realm until this situation is resolved."

"Report to your stations, and be ready for quick deployment."

The Einherjar slammed a fist over their left breast, right above the heart, as a collective unit. The captains left first, followed by the soldiers.

"Where is Loki? His talents are more than necessary now," Hogunn asked. It was rare to see Thor and Loki separate in such circumstances.

"He is busy with something. Father knows about it." He did not wish to reveal anything regarding this lady because he doubted she existed. Loki would never be so reluctant as to refuse sharing anything.

No name, no destination, not even a reason for turning his comms off. If all he wanted was privacy, they would respect his wishes as family.

His brother had done something, and he had no idea what it could be.

"Still, who could have done this to Heimdall?"

"I only know we have to be on guard now."

He did not share it with anyone, but there was a suspicion in his heart. Mere hours after Loki had left to meet a female companion, Heimdall had been rendered unconscious with no explanation as to how. Even if Loki was willing to ignore Father and Mother's calls, he would answer his.

It made him worry.

Odin had contacted the Light Elves, the Vanir, and the dwarves through the communication systems his currently absent youngest son had created. They all gave similar reports.

No sign of an attack, nor any infiltration attempts.

Nidavellir was the most likely realm to be targeted. The weapons of the dwarves were legends for most of the galaxy, but there were enough people in the know. The Mad Titan was one, and after he had destroyed the last gauntlet, Thanos would need a new one.

The forges of the dwarves were one of the few places that could create a suitable gauntlet for the Infinity Stones.

He had ordered a force of Einherjar and ASF to be moved to Nidavellir for security.

He wondered if Midgard could also be a target. The number of individuals who knew that the Tesseract had been hidden on the youngest of the realms was less than the fingers of a hand.

A cursory glance, learned through his familiarity with the cube, told him that it still lay dormant.

"Husband."

"Wife," he greeted back after a beat. She had foregone her courtly dresses for armor. A sight he had not seen ever since Thor and Loki were babes.

In the real world, at least. She had worn it plenty of times in the Tenth Realm.

The winged helm hung on her hip. The golden plates over her green robes displayed that she was as radiant on the field of battle as she was on the court.

"How fare the realms?" she asked. Her left hand reached out, brushing the red cape flowing down her husband's back.

He grasped the hand gently. "Safe, for now. I have ordered a defensive force to Nidavellir."

"I have been unable to contact Loki. He must be enjoying his time with the lady." It made her happy to see one of her sons find a possible partner, yet the timing was suspicious.

"Did he not give you a name?" The lady in question must be brilliant to catch Loki's interest. His son certainly turned away enough females to be described as picky.

"No. He seemed reluctant. I would say he was shy, but…." She smiled, leaving her husband to finish the sentence.

"Neither of our sons are ever shy."

The tender moment ended when Thor entered the room.

"Father, the Einherjar are ready. The group for Nidavellir is departing right now," he said. He could feel the mood had just changed but did not question it.

"Good."

Now, all they could do was wait.

Asgard did not know where the enemy could come from, and it made the populace restless. Heimdall was always treated as a permanent figure in the Observatory. His absence was felt deeply. Asgard was by no means defenseless without him, but it had highlighted just how convenient and easy he made the protection of the Nine Realms.

Days followed, and no assault came. The allied realms reported the same, leaving the Aesir puzzled. Heimdall was healing and would be awake soon. Then, they could learn the reason behind his state and act.

His eyes opened, and he saw everything. Up, down, left, right, back and forth, through multiple angles. He felt hazy and bloated, as if he had fattened beyond reason. The thoughts in his mind were sluggish.

He did not remember why he was here or where he even was. Even his name did not come to mind. He could not spare any more time to think as his vision darkened once again.

Notes: I am aware this is a bit rushed, but we are starting with the actual story now. Next chapter, we will see what Loki has just done, which is something I have taken from what happens to the protagonist of Arrival : Ruptures.

In the next chapter:

Odin entered the hall of healing.

Heimdall was on the Soul Forge but awake this time.

"Heimdall, how do you fare?" he asked. Eir's report on the Gatekeeper's state made him hopeful for a swift recovery.

"My king, I am well." Heimdall attempted to rise, but a very pointed cough from Eir forced him to lay down. "How long have I been unconscious?"

He grasped Heimdall's shoulders, squeezing slightly. "A week. We had worried you had been attacked to lower Asgard's defenses."

Yet no attack had come on any realm.

Heimdall shook his head. "No, it was not an attack. There was a violent explosion on Svartalfheim. The energy latched onto my sight, and I do not remember the rest."

Loki? You may not actually have a girlfriend to gift flowers yet but you have still managed to pick an entire parades worth of Oopsy Daisies. XD
