The thirteenth of September, 2026.

It was a dark day, at least for one man. Kirigaya Masato. That was the name of the man who was walking down a dark street after the day had already ended. He had just finished his office hours, having finished another five hours of unpaid overtime as usual in the city of Tokyo.

Walking down the dark street, the around twenty three year old young man was holding onto his phone and not even looking at where he was walking to, his mind having left work and now fully concentrated onto the screen before him. The screen showed a… fanfiction website that he had been using since he had been in middle school, almost ten years now.

'Damn… who would think that the biggest fanfiction website from ten years ago is already shutting down… a bummer, where will I get to read my daily slop fiction at this point?' Masato thought to himself as he was walking.

It was at that moment in time that something caught his eye, it was a fanfiction called Naruto, The simulation.

Raising an eyebrow, Masato clicked it, though he wasn't expecting much, the site that he had used to read so many great fanfictions in the past had been completely and utterly filled by either chinese slop that was translated with AI or even worse, just straight up AI garbage that barely made any sense at all. The love and passion that his generation had for fanfiction had unfortunately dwindled as the era of brain rot fast approached the world and the ipad kids grew up.

Shaking his head, Masato bemusedly thought to himself about how he felt like an old man already at the ripe age of twenty three.

'Man… technology really has made the difference between generations feel greater and greater, I mean if you think about it, at least I used to use phones that still had buttons on them whilst the next generation after me, merely a few years after, didn't get to experience that at all… it's interesting to think about at least.' Masato thought to himself, it was at this moment as he was starting to read the synopsis for the fanfiction that had caught his eye that a bright white light started approaching him at insane speeds.

Lifting his head up, Masato froze as he watched what was clearly a white truck approach him at insane, clearly illegal speeds.

'There… there is no way I'm actually going to die like a damned fanfiction protagonist after having read fanfictions all my life right? Ah… fuck me.' Masato thought as he closed his eyes and in the very next second, blinding pain shot through his entire body, making him lose almost every other sense he had, leaving him entirely consumed by the pain.

Thankfully, this all seemed to stop almost instantly, not lasting any longer than maybe two or three seconds before the pain vanished as if it had never even been there to begin with.

'Huh… what just happened?' Masato thought in confusion as soon as he noticed that the pain was gone, and then in the very next second as that thought finished going through his mind, he came to another realisation on what the likely outcome of what just happened had been.

'Ah… I'm dead aren't I?' Masato thought as he tried releasing a long winded sigh however he found out almost immediately after he tried that he could not do the action.

Trying to open his eyes, he realised that he couldn't either, and neither could he move, or smell or feel anything around him, it was as if he was simply a soul floating in complete nothingness without even a body.

'Strange… I somehow feel like I still have my body even though none of my senses are working and I cannot move… or maybe it was just that I died and it all happened so quickly that my mind or soul or whatever it is that I have now is still confused and thinks that my body is attached to me.' Masato thought as he tried releasing a hum only to find himself stumped again.

'Damn it, this is really annoying.' Masato thought to himself, almost chuckling to himself as the thought of how this could be made into an infinite loop of him trying to sigh at himself and then sighing at being unable to sigh.

Before he could further delve into such thoughts however, Masato… felt something.

'My eyes… are hurting… and my ears are starting to hurt aswell… no, not just that, my entire body is starting to hurt, what the fuck is happening.' Masato thought as his emotions started turning more volatile by the second as the pain that had vanished almost instantly before starting returning, however this time it was far far worse than it had been before, if before it had been an instant flash of insane levels of pain, this time it was a slow ramp up towards that level of pain, lasting much longer than it had before.

As the pain was reaching critical levels almost at the same level as what it had been before when the truck had hit him, Masato's thoughts having almost completely cleared, leaving him with only the pain and the darkness, something changed once more.

Masato felt his eyes snap open as blinding light rushed in, and at the very same second, his entire body returned or rather the feeling of it and the ability to control it returned as he released a scream at the top of his lungs.

He didn't know where he was, what was happening or what he should do, all that he knew was the pain and the blinding light that now surrounded him.

It was inside of those moments that he heard a voice calling to him… and a feeling of some kind of cold liquid spreading through his upper body, gently starting to ease the pain from blinding levels into something more manageable.

'Fuck… fuck, what the fuck was that.' Masato thought to himself as his vision started clearing, leaving him to finally realise that he was laid on some kind of bed… and staring directly upwards at the ceiling of some kind of brown tent.

Chapter 2 New
His vision slowly cleared as the blinding white light slowly receded and what was left was a clear vision of where he was… or at least a clear vision considering that the only sight Masato was currently seeing was the ceiling of some kind of brown tent.

Slowly lowering his head so that he could look around, he came face to face with a woman with long brown hair tied in a bun, wearing white clothes and a headband on her forehead with an insignia that resembled a leaf.

The woman was clearly stressed as sweat was slowly pouring down from under her headband which looked to already be completely soaked, having turned from a light blue colour into a dark blue one.

A heavy blockage suddenly appeared inside of Masato's throat, leaving him with no choice but to start coughing out heavily, the medic instantly moving her hands closer to his throat, the very same hands that had been releasing the gentle feeling that had felt like a sign from god to Masato merely a few minutes ago when he had been enduring the unbelievable amounts of pain that were coursing through his body.

*Cough* *Cough*

Coughing heavily without the ability to even take his breath for a few moments, Masato felt his eyes start to water as blood and saliva dripped out of his mouth as he coughed and onto the white bed under him.

"Just a bit more and you should be finished." The woman finally spoke, her voice was calm and almost emotionless despite the clear stress and exhaustion that she was experiencing, it was likely that she was used to this situation and had already gone through it so many times that it had simply become part of her tiring routine.

'Just a bit more? I feel like im fucking coughing up my entire lung out here.' Masato thought to himself inside of his mind as he slowly but finally managed to somewhat get the coughing fit under his control with the help of whatever the woman was doing to him.

Taking a long deep breath, Masato turned his gaze towards the woman whilst softly readjusting his position on the bed so that he could get more comfortable though from the pain that was currently shooting through his entire body at every movement, it didn't seem like he would get to be comfortable anytime soon unfortunately.

Having finally escaped the pain and then the coughing fit that felt like death coming for the second time, Masato finally got to have a clear look at his surroundings and more importantly, the woman who had just helped him.

For a moment, the sight that stood before him was too shocking for his mind to comprehend, maybe that had also been part of the reason as to why he hadn't reacted to it sooner, it hadn't just been because of the pain and the confusion, it had been because the sight before him was something straight out of a fantasy, straight out of one of those fanfictions that he had spent so many hours reading instead of focusing on his actual real life and studies.

'She's… wearing the hidden leaf headband… and those glowing hands just now… that was the mystical healing palm jutsu wasn't it.' Masato thought to himself, his own voice felt almost monotone inside of his own mind, the shock having pushed aside every single other emotion to the side as his mind tried to find any way to grasp the new reality that stood before it.

"With that, most of your organs have now stabilised and you should no longer be in any danger of death, however that does not mean that you are healthy, you have still lost a lot of chakra during the battle and your limbs and overall health is still… precarious to say the least. As you may notice, we had to amputate both your left leg as well as your right arm, they were both infected with poisons that we have yet to find any antidote towards." The female medical ninja said as she pulled out a small notebook and started writing out the details of what she had done today to Masato as well as explaining his current situation to him considering the surgeries had been done whilst he was completely and utterly unconscious.

Masato didn't react, keeping that emotionless facade causing the medical ninja to stop for a moment and look up from the notebook for a second before releasing a long winded sigh and giving a nod before turning around and heading out of small space that had been cleared out for Masato in the medical tent.

The woman had clearly thought that Masato was in shock, having just heard that he had lost both his left leg and his right arm, most shinobi if not all of them would be in certain shock and even despair at having their career ending so abruptly whilst at the same time knowing that they would be facing the aftereffects of this for the rest of their life.

The woman's thoughts however would most certainly be wrong.

'I'm in the world of Naruto… I'm in the world of Naruto… Rasengan, nine tails… the sharingan…. They're all real here…' Masato thought to himself as the shock slowly ebbed away from his mind, giving way to the next overwhelming emotion… pure joy and pure horror combined at the exact same time.

'I dont have a fuckin leg and an arm, im basically a damned crippled, inside one of the most dangerous worlds in the universe…. I need a trusted adult… oh shit I am the trusted adult… help.' Masato thought as the joy slowly gave way aswell… and all that he was left with was… a bewildering combination of shock, despair, and just…. Confusion.

Chapter 3 New
'Okay… I have to calm down… I have to calm down, there is nothing I can do about this if I just panic, that's just a waste of time.' Masato thought as he took a long deep breath and then looked down at his own body, the sight that came into his vision was about exactly as bad as he had thought it would be whilst at the same time feeling ten times worse than he had thought it would.

For a moment, he felt vomit climb up his throat before he had to swallow it all back down with a disgusting gulp as he gazed directly at the two areas where the damage was clearly the worst.

Flies were everywhere, there were no maggots which Masato thanked the gods for at least however the flies were still disgusting enough.

His left leg was gone, though his mind could still somewhat feel some kind of sensation as if his leg was still there, though Masato knew that such a thing was just a shadow limb of sorts, something that most people who lost their limbs would feel even years after those limbs had been cut off or amputated.

The damage however wasn't just to his left and and right arm which were gone and all that remained of them was two stumps covered in white bandages, no the damage was everywhere, it almost felt like every inch of his body was covered in white bandages, from head to toe.

'Damned it…' Masato thought with a sigh before he slowly lifted his eyes up once more, gazing away from the wreckage that was his body and back into the surroundings.

Noises rang all around him, ranging from groans to even the sudden screams every once in a while, the smell of the entire place was if Masato had anything to say about it, utterly disgusting, the smell of blood was overwhelming and so was the smell of piss and feces from ninja who had lost even their ability to control their bowl movements by themselves.

Thankfully for Masato, whilst he could hear the other ninjas and even smell them and the gore that had been wrought upon their bodies, he could not see them, the large medical tent was split into smaller sections around each of the medical beds with dark blue curtains so that none of the other ninjas could see each other.

'I'm guessing that they did this both so that the ninjas wouldn't freak out at each other but also because if someone saw someone else having a panic attack or being in clear complete hysteria then that could spread to the rest of the group which could lead into an uncontrollable situation for the medical staff on standby.' Masato thought before humming to himself, satisfied with his own conclusion for a moment before his mind wandered back to his own condition than back to the conclusion that he had just reached.

'Right… would someone be frightened enough by my condition and disgusted enough by it that they would enter hysteria…. Fuck, that doesn't bode well with me does it.' Masato thought as his head slumped down almost instantly in defeat.

It was at that very moment however as those thoughts were going through his mind that he heard something else, this time it wasn't the sound of a groan from pain from a nearby fellow shinobi, and neither was it a scream or the soft words spoken by the medical ninja.

Instead it was a clear sound that softly rang inside of his own mind. The sound closely resembled the sound that would be produced from a small bell ringing.

*Ding*

Masato's eyes widened considerably as he looked around himself, however no matter how much he looked around at the ground or the bed or the curtains, there was nothing around him that he could see that would cause such a sound to ring out.

However he didn't have to wonder for long as to where the sound had come from as the reason for it appeared right before his eyes, floating mere centimeters away from his body in the air, simply hovering there as if it was completely a normal sight.

It was a blue holographic screen, something that matched almost every single description of what a system window was described as in the many slop filled chinese Naruto fanfictions that Masato had read.

'That… is that thing, what I think it is.' Masato thought to himself in complete shock which was quickly pushed aside together with the disbelief of the situation as words started appearing on the holographic screen before him, causing him to instantly focus on what was being written out.

[ Welcome User Masato! ]

[ You have been granted the Simulation System. ]

[ The System grants the User the ability to head to alternate timelines of his current world and complete certain system given missions, earning himself rewards that he can bring back to his own timeline! ]

[ Does the User wish to accept the System? ]

[ Yes ] [ No ]

Looking at the holographic screens that had popped up in front of him, Masato felt both a sense of exhilaration as well as a sense of distrust towards the screens, he knew from what he had read in so many of those very fanfictions that he had learned about systems that they could be great tools in someone's journey however they could also be great manipulators.

'It entirely depends on whether this one is one of those that I used to get annoyed at where it has death penalties and all that bullshit… fuck, do i even really have a choice though, I can only accept and hope that something in that thing has the power to help me survive here otherwise I am quite royally screwed considering my own bodily situation.' Masato thought as a drop of sweat dripped down from his brow and onto his chin and then the bed sheet.
[ Yes ]

[ Ding! ]

[ System has been granted Access! ]

[ Congratulations User Masato! ]

Chapter 4 New
[ Congratulations User Masato! ]

[ Beginner Package has been obtained! ]

[ Tutorial has been granted. ]

[ Does User wish to activate the Tutorial? ]

[ Yes ] [ No ]

Looking at the congratulatory blue holographic screens floating in front of him, Masato released a long sigh before nodding his head slightly as he lifted his left arm as well as he could and clicked on the yes button for the tutorial.

[ Tutorial has been activated. ]

[ The Simulation System has multiple boons that it grants the user with. However not all of said boons are activated from the beginning and will only be accessible when User Masato reaches the appropriate level to access them. ]

[ First Boon of the system is the Status screen which gives a description about the User's current capabilities as well as condition. ]

[ To open the Status panel, simply think or say 'Status' ]

Reading the tutorial lines one after the other, at first with concentration and then less so as he already knew most if not all of what was being said, this was basically the most generic and widespread part of the system that almost every single system across all the known fanfictions that he had read had.

'System' Masato thought and as soon as those words echoed inside of his own mind, a new holographic panel appeared right before him, floating there in the air.

[ Status ]

[ Name: Rin ]

[ Age: 14 ]

[ Gender: Male ]

[ Level: 1 ]

[ Job: Hidden Leaf Genin ]

[ Physical : F ]

[ Mental : F ]

[ Chakra : F ]
[ Talent : None ]

[ Bloodline: None ]

[ Overall Comprehensive Description: A useless Fodder. ]

Looking over at the simple status screen laid out before him, Masato felt like releasing a shout of pure rage like those Chinese ancestors did in those fanfictions.

'So my name is Rin… im a gennin…. A gennin without two limbs at that and my physical, mental, chakra… basically every single damn thing about me is useless, yeah, so im just a useless piece of shit who's using up the precious air.' Masato thought to himself as he slowly shook his head in disbelief.

'I mean… doesn't the saying go that god gave at least one talent or something to everyone? That everyone had something going for them… i guess this Rin body just was absent or something when god was giving out the talents and shit.' Masato thought as he took breath before slowly calming himself down as he focused on the tutorial holographic panels once more after closing the status panel with a single thought inside of his mind.

[ Now that User Masato has been acquainted with the Status, there are still two other parts of the system that the User has to learn about. The first is the Quest Window, which is currently empty as there are no quests. Quests can only be gained by heading into a different world through the system and that leads us to the final part of the system that the User currently has access to… ]

[ The System Alternate Timeline Simulation. ]

'Alright… this is… this is what I was waiting for.' Masato thought to himself as his gaze focused onto the holographic panels before him whilst a small smile started to appear on his expression, his heart inside of this utterly beat down body was starting to beat faster and faster as excitement started coursing through his entire body.

[ To open the System Simulation Window, simply say the words 'System Simulation Open' Inside of your own mind. ]

Masato didn't hesitate for a single moment as he instantly said out the words inside of his mind.

'System Simulation Open…. Also do I really have to say this every time? It feels kind of cringey not going to lie…' Masato thought to himself as soon as he finished saying the opening phrase, before he could delve deeper into those thoughts however, the holographic screen that he had been anticipating opened up before him.

[ System Simulation ]

[ Rank F Simulation ] [ Start ] [ ? ]

[ Rank E Simulation ] [ ? ]

[ Rank D Simulation ] [ ? ]

[ Rank C Simulation ] [ ? ]

[ Rank B Simulation ] …

[ Rank A….

….

Looking at the rows of options before him, Masato instantly noticed that there was only one option that was accessible to him currently, the lowest rank simulation, that didn't bother him however as his mind was already caught up in the question mark options next to each option laid out before him. Curiously clicking onto the Rank C simulation question mark, a new holographic screen soon appeared before him.

[ Rank C Simulation : Simulations usually contain timelines where the World has moderately changed, thus events that the user remembers from the Naruto world have a higher chance of being wrong. Example, Gaara of the Sand did not possess the One tailed beast, instead he was in possession of the two tails. ]

Looking at the description that the system had given for the mere Rank C simulation, confusion quickly started spreading through Masato's mind.

'Aren't tailed beasts… kind of like a really damn important part of the anime and story? And gaara isn't some no name either… so if this is just a C rank change… then what would the highest… rank be?' Masato thought as he curiously scrolled down the holographic window.

[ Rank S Simulation ] [ ? ]

[ Rank SS Simulation ]

[ Rank SSS Simulation ]

'The SS and the SSS rank don't have the question mark at all… well alright…' Masato thought to himself before he clicked onto the question mark next to the S rank simulation, causing the new holographic screen to appear before him almost instantly.

[ Rank S Simulation: Rank S simulations are simulations where the world timeline had changed in a major way, causing the knowledge that User has retained from his previous world to become functionally useless. Example: Sasuke defeats Naruto at the end of the series and reigns over the world as the Supreme Leader of all Nations. ]

'What…' Masato thought for a moment as his eyes kept widening further and further as his mind went to work almost instantly, imagining what a world like that could be like and every single time, it reached a single conclusion.

It would most likely be a world that was eerily similar to his own world's North Korea.

'Yikes…'

Chapter 5 New
'Yikes… that really wouldn't be a world that I would want to be in, but all these simulations, its interesting, all of them have something that changed inside of them and the rank varies based on how big the change to the world and storyline is. But in the same manner couldn't the one that I'm currently in also be called a simulation world of sorts since I already am a change to this world?' Masato thought to himself almost amused at the irony of how he was going into alternate timelines as if the one in his own wasn't already altered.

Scrolling back up on the System Simulation window, Masato's eyes locked onto the only simulation that was available to him.

[ Rank F Simulation ] [ Start ] [ ? ]

Clicking in the F rank simulation question mark, a pop up holographic screen appeared before him almost instantly.

[ Rank F simulations have only minor changes to the storyline and thus are much more predictable as well as easier to complete by using User's knowledge of the original world from his past world memories. The rank is also lower because the mission requirements are not as hard as in missions of higher Simulation Ranking. ]

'I guessed as much already, it didn't need to tell me the last part at all…' Masato thought as he felt a shadow cover his face for a moment as he thought about if the system was thinking about him as some sort of complete and utter dumbass.

'Well anyways… there's really no reason for me to wait, but before I do that… since this Rin body is my main one, what happens to it when I head into a simulation?' Masato thought and the reply came instantaneously from the system.

[ User's Own World will continue moving as he is in the Simulation however the System has already thought of this and as a way to help the User, it has implemented a 10000x time dilation difference between the Simulation and the real world. A second in the real world is equivalent to ten thousand seconds in the simulation. User does not have to worry. ]

Releasing a soft pleased hum, Masato gave a nod of his head or at least tried to before the pain stopped him just short of completing the action.

'Sigh… let's just do this.' Masato thought as he lifted his only hand and clicked on the start button before quickly pressing the yes confirmation pop up window right after.

A moment later, every single system holographic window disappeared form his sight as if none of them had ever been there to begin with, leaving only one flashing for a brief moment.

[ The Simulation welcomes the Simulation Gamer. ]

And then that too was gone.

'Huh.. What's happening? Why am I not going into the simulation already?' Masato thought in confusion before he saw it, the edges of his vision were starting to darken quickly whilst his body was starting to lose its sense of smell, touch and hearing. The sound of the groaning patients, the screaming and the awful smell of blood and other fluids quickly vanishing as well.

'Ah… this kind of feels just like dying doesn't it.' Masato thought to himself as he finally closed his eyes whilst his head slumped back down on what was supposed to be a pillow but was more of a stump of grass than anything like a pillow.

The world finally vanished from sight, smell and sound… for at least a few moments.

Just as Masato was thinking about how long this was taking, the world finally returned, or rather some world did.

The first thing that Masato felt this time thankfully wasn't blinding light and an unimaginable level of pain, rather it was the smell of damp grass and some kind of meat being cooked, whilst he heard the soft pitter and patter of rain droplets falling down all around him together with the sound of a campfire crackling nearby.

Opening his eyes quickly, he lifted his upper body up and soon found himself facing a small campfire under a small cave at the face of a mountain whilst it was raining all around it. Trees could be seen everywhere, long and dense, clearly a forest, though it looked more of regular forest rather than something tropical.

'Alright… I look… healthy atleast.' Masato thought as he looked down at his body, and he was right, this body was smaller than the one that he had been given in his own naruto timeline however it still had all of its limbs and it had none of the damage the previous body had suffered.

'There's no time to waste, let's just get into this.' Masato thought as he instantly brought up two system windows.

[ Status ]

[ Name: Araya Shinkara ]

[ Job: Hidden in the Rain Gennin ]

[ Chakra: E ]

[ Quest ]

[ Survive for one week. ]

[ Rewards: 1 Status Point Upgrade. ]
'That's… all? I have to survive one week inside of here and all I get is a single status… well whatever, this is just a F rank simulation mission but… still.' Masato thought before releasing a long sigh.

It was at that moment as those thoughts were going through his head however that the sound of footsteps was heard coming towards the small campfire.

Masato's head instantly lifted up as he gazed towards the sound, his eyes narrowing as his pupils dilated, trying to take in as much light as possible so that he could see what was coming.

And a few moments later, the thing that had made the sound finally came forth, it hadn't been a thing, it was a small group of… kids? Two kids to be more precise, both of them was wearing a hidden in the rain village headband on their foreheads.

'I see… so these must be the npcs of the simulation… well isn't this going to be fun.' Masato thought as his brain instantly entered what he used to jokingly call in his previous world as gamer mode.

Chapter 6 New
"You're finally awake Araya" The first genin said, it was a small girl with long brown hair that came down to her waist and was tied in a pony tail, two bangs framing her face, in the middle of which the insignia of the rain village could be seen, engraved onto the steel plate on her headband.

"Yeah man, you were like knocked out for a while there, that guy really hit you with a genjutsu and I was worried that you wouldn't even wake up for a while. Shizue was barely holding her tears back for a while but I had to be strong y'know, I didn't cry at all." The second boy said, he had short black spiky hair, the same headband tied around his forehead as the girl and a wide, clearly relieved smile on his face.

'Most likely genin, the girls name is Shizue, still no Idea what this guys name is. We were attacked earlier, the previous owner of this body was hit by a genjutsu of some sort that caused him to end up unconscious and then I took over his body. I have to learn more information. Firstly, they're still shinobi even though they are gennin, however that will most certainly make my job of acting like their former team mate easier.' Masato thought to himself before taking a long deep exhausted sounding breath and lifting his head up a bit higher and forming a mile that was almost completely lopsided.

"Yeah… I don't really want to talk about it, even now… I don't really feel well. What… what happened whilst I was unconscious." Masato asked as he looked at the two of them.

"Well… Kazuha basically cried his eyes out in worry though he's trying to act tough now… still we both are really glad that you are okay Araya… really. After what… well I guess… we can just do a recount of the events to jog your memory." Shizue spoke softly, the young girls voice was practically shaking as her eyes started to get filled with tears almost instantly as she seemed to think back on whatever had happened.

'Kazuha… good, so that's his name. Now just keep talking.' Masato thought to himself whilst outwardly he gave a nod of his head, his expression slightly scrunching up.

"Yeah… that would be for the best, my mind's kinda scrambled right now, maybe I'll have an easier time getting my bearings if you jog my memory." Masato said aloud as he looked at Shizue before giving a soft chuckle as he turned his head towards Kazuha.

"Also… there's no way Kazuha cried… no way right?" Masato said, lightening up the mood slightly.

"Yeah, Araya knows it! Anyways… about what happened… well I'll just let Shizue fill you in." Kazuha spoke as he walked closer to Masato and sat down by the campfire.

Shizue meanwhile took a deep breath, lifted her arm and wiped her tear filled eyes before narrowing them into focus as she similarly sat down close by to the two boys and opened her mouth as she started recounting the situation.

"We were on the mission, just a regular patrol as usual around the edges and on the villages to see if any of the civilians needed any help. Sensei Ishiva was with us and was teaching us a bit more about chakra control and then it all happened in a flash, this loud explosion rang throughout the entire area and the next thing I know is that six Iwagakure shinobi body flickered into the clearing, together with a few shinobi from the hidden leaf, they were clearly in a battle, the hidden leaf shinobi were losing, and Sensei told us to run away as soon as he saw the situation, he said that no matter who won, it would spell our deaths if we stayed around and so… we ran, but on the way, one of the leaf shinobi launched a genjutsu or maybe you got caught in it accidentally and you fell down unconscious, Sensei then told us to just grab you and run and… and we did, whilst Sensei stayed behind…" Shizue spoke, the longer she did, the lower her voice got, and the more it shook as she recounted the story, tears finally spilling over, as much as she had tried to hold them back, she had failed.

Looking at her, Masato didn't react for a moment, before his face changed as it scrunched up and he lifted a hand over his eyes covering them for a moment, he took that slight moment that his eyes were covered to put dirt directly into them causing them to instantly water whilst he held his breath at the same time, releasing hiccups intentionally as best as he could, causing his face to start to redden from lack of oxygen whilst at the same time that tears were falling down.

"Fuck… It's… It's all my fault." Masato spoke, his voice shaking, his hands had been lowered and he was flexing his muscles in his hand as much as he could, causing his hands to shake, adding onto the effect that he wanted to produce.

Looking at the boy before them, at their team mate, Shizue and Kazuha finally couldn't hold back anymore either, Shizue got closer as she clung to his arm, sobbing, though even then her voice was low, she knew better than to release any loud sounds considering the situation they were in, meanwhile Kazuha had also gotten closer, his eyes bawling however he didn't sob, he just put an arm around Masato's or rather Arayas shoulder awkwardly as best as he could.

'Mission success. With this, their chances of doubting anything are lowered quite a lot, and even then they weren't that high to begin with, but better safe than sorry. At the same time, I also gathered quite a bit of information.' Masato thought to himself, a joyous emotion coursing through him at the successful act.

Chapter 7 New
A few minutes later, the three of them parted from eachother and sat a bit further away from each other once more.

"So… what's the plan? We clearly can't just head back the same way that we came, and we should also wait for a bit in case Sensei Ishiva comes back for us." Masato said as he coughed into his hand, as if to clear his voice from all the crocodile crying that had just been done.

Shizue and Kazuha gave a nod at the words.

"You're right, we can't really go back the same way… not if we could possibly run into those Iwa shinobi or those leaf shinobi again, that could spell our deaths. And your right… maybe Sensei will come back and get us… I hope… but we all know that the chances of that are slim to none, Sensei is a Chunnin… our village really can't compare to the five big villages." Shizue said, the more she spoke, the more her voice changed, gaining a somber almost defeated quality to it.

'Yeah right, everyone of you guys is basically fodder and then you go and produce freaks like Konan, Nagato and Hanzo… like does the rain village only have two settings, either god amongs men or trash on the side of the road?' Masato thought to himself whilst outwardly he gave a nod in turn to her words before releasing a long sigh.

"Okay… how about we stay here for the night and if Sensei doesn't come back until then, we move away from here and do a circle towards the Rain village, as long as we reach the village, we'll be safe enough." Masato said as he lifted his hand and scratched the back of his head for a bit, the motion utterly casual amids the tense atmosphere around them.

"That… yeah, we could do that. We should take turns staying guard so that we can all be atleast somewhat rested for tomorrow, who's taking the first guard?" Kazuha asked as he nodded and raised an eyebrow in question towards the other two, it was clear that the young boy never was one to take the lead in giving orders and rather simply followed them.

"I can take the first watch, then Kazuha and then you could take the last one Araya? We change every two hours, this way each of us gets atleast four hours of sleep and considering that you were the one affected by the genjutsu, this way you'll have a bit more of a consistent sleep to get your mind as clear as possible." Shizue said as she looked towards the two boys for their opinion on the matter.

'That… actually benefits me the most, acting like the genjutsu took a bigger toll than it did on me was certainly the good choice there. Though i'm having doubts as to whether I'll actually be able to get any sleep even if i tried. Shinobi are trained to be able to sleep under any circumstances however I wasn't trained like a shinobi, I was just a regular salary man merely hours ago.' Masato thought as he felt like releasing a long sigh, this time for real as he imagined just how hell the next few days would be considering that he wouldn't be able to get much if any sleep at all.

"That works for me, thanks Shizue… I, I really appreciate it guys, I'll try my best to not hold you guys back anymore like I did today." Masato spoke, his voice low and weak.
"Dont say that, there was nothing that you could have done today, we're just genin, those guys were like jonin or something… just, just be glad that you're alive okay? We're glad that you are too." Shizue spoke, her voice soft and filled with warmth as she looked at her team mate Araya.

Masato wearing Araya's skin simply gave a nod befre lying down by the campfire and closing his eyes. Kazuha quickly followed suit as he laid down by the campfire and fell asleep almost instantly, his breathing evening out and turning shallower as his mind fell into a deeper and deeper sleep by the second. This left only Shizue up, she slowly got up onto her feet and walked a few feet away from the two of them and stood by the edge of the small cave whilst looking out into the darkness of the forest, her back against the wall so that she could slightly rest whilst at the same time remaining as on guard as she could be whilst her team rested.

Minutes passed, Masato tried his best however no matter how much he did, he could not sleep at all, leaving him there laid onto the ground by the campfire, acting like he was asleep for minutes on end whilst focusing almost completely on his sense of hearing to notice any changes in the sounds coming from the surroundings however he couldnt notice any at all, it was just the soft pitter patter of the rain and the rare sound of a birch chirping in the distance.

That peace however did not last long as around fourty seven minutes after Masato had laid down and pretended to fall asleep, he finally heard something, it was Shizue, she had just released a gasp of breath and taken a soft stumbling step.

Instantly, Masato's eyes snapped open however before he could do anything, the last thing that he saw was a boot and then his entire vision turned red and time seemed to freeze as a holographic screen appeared infront of him.

[ Simulation Fail ]

[ Cause: Player Death ]

[ Retry? ] [ Yes ] [ No ]

'What… what the hell.'

Chapter 8 New
His vision was completely red, practically flashing to him whilst the row of words simply stood there floating before him as if nothing was wrong at all, almost casually announcing that he had just died, died and not even known how he had died, besides the fact that he had seen the boot or rather the sandal and toes of a shinobi before he had died.

'I fuckin died whilst looking at a pair of toes… ugly toes at that.' Masato thought to himself, releasing an inward groan as he mentally accepted the retry button and in the very next instant, his vision swerved as the scenery changed once more and… the pitter patter of the rain and the smell of the woods came back to him once more.

His eyes snapped back open as he instantly jumped to his feet and looked around, and there it was… all around him, the very same scenery that he had first woken up to inside of the simulation, it had truly restarted once more from the very beginning.

'This… isn't this more useful than the rewards themselves?' Masato thought to himself in shock as he kept looking around, however as much as he tried, he couldn't find a single difference between what was around him and what he had seen during the previous run.

'I could definitely use this, If I learn some kind of technique whilst in the simulation… would that translate back to the rewards that I could take back with me to the real world? That could explain why there were so few rewards given in the reward portion of the simulation… that's definitely something to try, though I'm sure that physical upgrades won't be carried over or any stats really… techniques are another matter altogether. And if I know that I could just die and restart the simulation… that lowers my danger levels considerably… meaning that I can use insane practically suicidal tactics inside of here to try and clear a simulation and if it fails then it fails, I could just restart the entire scenario again.' Masato thought and finally he couldn't hold himself back anymore as he started laughing, it wasn't a loud laugh, it was low, however in a way it was more unnerving than if it had been loud, it almost sounded like it was filled with pleasure.

It was at that moment that the sound of footsteps coming closer rang out once more.

Masato or rather Araya turned his head towards the sound and raised a hand.

"Shizue, Kazuha, I'm awake." Masato said as he waved his hand and the two genin came closer towards him.

Kazuha came closer first with a wide relieved smile whilst at the same time showing a look of pure befuddlement inside of his eyes, the same look that Shizue was currently holding inside of her eyes as well.

"Yeah, we can see that, did you go insane or something, why were you laughing like that man? You made me shiver. Still, I'm glad that you're alive." Kazuha said as he walked closer and pat Araya's back over and over, the more he did, the wider his grin grew.

"Yeah… you sure that you didn't lose a screw inside there when you got hit by that genjutsu Araya?" Shizue asked as she walked closer as well, her eyebrows raised up faintly in confusion though the relief was clear to see on her face.
"I'm fine, just glad that we survived, honestly I didn't think that we would, that… enemy attack was… something, damned it. Sensei had to stay back didn't he?" Masato said as he released a long sigh.

'Good, with the information that I gained in the previous turn, I can already deal with this in an easier way than before, though last time I tried to act more confused so that they wouldn't notice how I'm acting since I don't exactly know how the previous owner of this body acted like, this is still better. Now that I know that we are merely an hour or so away from another fatal attack, I can't be bothered with trying to convince them when they likely won't even think too much about it as long as I simply say that I changed from the life and death encounter. The next course of action is how to survive the night.' Masato thought inwardly to himself as his eyes narrowed slightly in thought, his mind whirring into action as he tried to think of whatever he could, however he still came flat, he needed more information.

"Before that, do you all have a map? I want to know where we are. We all know that we can't stay here for long and we should move out as soon as possible, tell me our location and let's devise a route to get back to the village." Masato said as he walked closer to Shizue, he already knew that Kazuha wasn't much for making plans and so he instantly focused on the only person that he knew would be agreeable to making plans, in this situation, that person was young Shizue.

Shizue for her part didn't hesitate even for a second as she gave a nod of her head before her left arm moved behind her to the ninja bag wrapped around her waist and pulled out a small scroll that she quickly unfurled until it reached quite the size. It was clearly a detailed map of the land of Rain. It didn't have any information about the other lands however it was basically a trove of information for Masatos current situation.

'Good, that's great. Awesome basically.' Masato thought to himself as he leaned in slightly to look at where Shizue was already pointing.

It was a small mountain range on the east side of the land of Rain… and unfortunately for Masato… it was on the completely other side from where the village hidden in the rain was situated.

'Damned it. Damned it all. It's never simple is it.'

Chapter 9 New
'We are quite literally as far away from the village as we can possible be…' Masato thought as annoyance surged through his mind for a brief moment before he quickly quelled the emotion down as fast as he could, now was not the time to get annoyed, not when his death was less than an hour away.

"Alright, so where exactly did we get attacked at, I was unconscious and the genjutsu did quite a number on my mind so I don't exactly remember." Masato asked Shizue as he turned his head slightly to look at her.

"Right here, by this small creek." Shizue pointed as she moved her finger on the map to show a location that was quite a bit away, around six kilometers or so.

'That… looks like a large enough distance however considering the speed at which shinobi can move at, it really isn't a distance, thats basically a doorstep, no wonder that we got found out and killed in the previous simulation.' Masato thought as he felt like releasing a sigh, Shizue should have told them that they were far too close to the location during the previous turn and made them move instead of simply deciding to wait out the night for their sensei, however whether it had been because of her inexperience as a genin or maybe simply because she had decided to trust her team mates suggestion, she hadn't mentioned this fact at all.

"We… are quite close to where the attack took place, we need to move. Which direction do you suggest that we take Shizue?" Masato asked as he kept looking towards her, at this point in time, he had no training as a ninja, so he had to rely on her at least until he got more experience under his own belt, not to mention that these two genin had been born inside the land of the rain, the chances that they knew some kind of hidden route was higher than if he suggested something like in the last turn and it only ended up making things worse.

It was however at that moment that Kazuha chose to speak.

"Shouldn't we at least wait out the night here, we still don't know if your capable of combat and we could wait incase Sensei managed to escape so that he could find us, this is one of the marked hidden locations afterall." He said as he tilted his head slightly as he looked towards Shizue and Araya or rather Masato.

"That… suggestion does have merit." Shizue nodded as she seemed to start to get into her thoughts as she mused about the suggestion meanwhile Masato was looking at Kazuha for what felt like a while with a blank expression on his face before he shook his head.

"No, we can't do that. We are too close to the enemies in our current position, and whilst I don't like admitting this, the chances of Sensei still being alive are practically null. We need to move." Masato spoke, his voice slightly shaking at the start before it turned firm and uncompromising.

His words seemed to snap Shizue out of her thoughts as for her a moment her eyes widened, a darkened expression showing on her face before she grimly nodded her head.

"Araya is right. It's… It's true, the chances of Sensei being alive… just… we just can't stay here, betting on that slim chance. As for the direction, I think we should take the straight route towards the village, if the enemies did indeed track us, they would likely think that we are going to go around however that would put us weeks away from the village, something we really can't afford, we don't even have enough rations for more than seven days, the only route that we can take is the direct one." Shizue said as she took a long deep breath before she started pointing at the shortest route possible towards the village of the rain with her hand on the map.

'That actually is a decent suggestion, I wouldn't mind trying it, considering that I can still just retry the simulation incase something does go wrong, and if nothing goes wrong, It would be the easiest way of clearing this simulation… though for the two of them, this is indeed life and permanent death. Thats quite a ballsy move.' Masato thought as he lifted an eyebrow in slight surprise at the suggestion that Shizue had given.

'It seems that maybe I've underestimated her. She really is the leader of this group.' Masato thought to himself before his eyebrow slowly lowered down and he gave a nod of his head.

"Alright, lets go with that." He agreed and in the next few minutes, Kazuha and Shizue moved around the camp, tearing everything down and cleaning everything as best as they could so that they wouldn't leave any signs of them being around here for any shinobi to find after they had left and then use that to track the direction that they had headed in.

Whilst the two of them were doing that, Masato meanwhile had opened his status window once more and scrolled down until he found what he had been looking for.

[ Techniques ]

[ Body Flicker Jutsu ] [ E - Rank Mastery ]

[ Clone Jutsu ] [ E - Rank Master ]

[ Transformation Jutsu ] [ E - Rank Mastery ]

[ Substitution Jutsu ] [ E - Rank Mastery ]

[ Water Style: Water Ball Jutsu ] [ E - Rank Mastery ]

Looking over at the techniques on the status screen, Masato felt a sense of confusion, he didn't know any of the techniques or how to use them however they were showcased inside of the status window, that meant that this body was capable of using them however how would he learn to use them?

The confusion however quickly cleared away, as soon as he thought about using one of the techniques, Masato felt the information on how to execute the technique flow into his mind almost instantly, though he didn't know exactly how the jutsu worked, the body that he was currently holding knew how to use it and thus that covered up for his own inexperience.

Chapter 10 New
Turning his head towards the forest, Masato thought for a moment on which jutsu to use before settling for the body flicker jutsu, it was the one that wouldn't arise any suspicion after all they were just about to leave and head away whilst the other jutsu would cause confusion amongst his team as there was no reason to use them at this current moment.

The second that he decided to use the technique, his chakra flowed through his body, he knew it was his chakra because he could feel it, like a sort of muddy hard liquid coursing through his body whilst his hands moved in a set of hand signs that he knew nothing about but apparently his body could do on pure instinct and in the very next moment, Masato found himself a dozen meters away, almost thirty meters away in fact as if he had simply teleported.

'Damn… that is sick.' Masato thought to himself before he turned his head back to gaze at the other two who had similarly finished packing up the camp and were now heading after him, giving him a nod as Shizue took the lead and Kazuha followed swiftly.

Neither of them however used the body flicker jutsu, they didn't know when they would be attacked and wasting chakra at the current moment in their situation was practically a death wish, it was also why Kazuha gave him that confused look when he passed by him.

'Right… I still had to give it a shot though, can't give a man his first jutsu and not expect him to use it.' Masato thought amusedly to himself as he started running after the two of them.

Running through the woods in the middle of the night whilst the rain continued all around them certainly wasn't a pleasant experience, not that Masato had expected it to be in the first place.

The trio continued to run through the woods for minutes on end, finally the time of his previous death passed, he had officially survived longer than he had during his previous simulation run.

'Good, already an improvement compared to the previous turn.' Masato thought to hismelf however as those thoughts were being made inside of his mind, the world outside changed once more.

Masato had been the one at the back, trailing behind both Kazuha and Shizue who had been running slightly ahead of him, Kazuha had been the one leading the run of sorts through the woods, he had been, and then he had simply not.

Masato watched in shock as one moment, Kazuha was running and in the next second, his head was suddenly not attached to his neck, his body still running for a dozen meters before it seemed to realise that it had no head attached to it and promptly slumped down onto the ground. The head having already fallen down the the ground.

The scene was gruesome, blood had already spilled everywhere however the cut had been so clean that even the blood that had spilled hadn't made a mess. The death had been swift and instantaneous, nothing like the dramatic deaths of the shinobi that Masato had grown to love as a kid watching the Naruto anime.

Looking closer at the scene, because he was utterly unable to look away from sheer shock, Masato who had already stopped running finally saw it, a thin red line or rather a wire, a steel wire that was completely invisible to the naked eye, only visible now because it had been covered in blood that was dripping down from it and onto the ground, that had been the cause of Kazuha's death, he had ran straight into one, neck first.

Shizue, similarly to Masato had also stopped running, however her expression wasn't the same as Masato's where his was blank and utterly in shock, hers was one of pure grief, shock, and despair, her mouth hung open for a while, no sounds coming out of it until finally a small single long note came out… it grew louder and louder until she was full blown screaming in despair as she fell down to her knees, her hands moving as she scrambled closer to Kazuha's head and took it in her arms, holding the head in her lap, clutching it as closely as she could however no matter what she did, the boy would not come back.

"Shizue… calm down, stop screaming." Masato said aloud as he walked closer to her, his shock having already left him, returning him back to his usual calm state once more, his mind had already categorised this all as some sort of hyper realistic game instead of real life, to him the death of Kazuha was simply the death of a non playable character inside of a video game, an NPC.

The young girl however did not stop, her screaming only grew worse as she sobbed whilst holding her dead teammates decapitated head.

'Damned it… if she keeps screaming like that It could attract enemies, if they aren't already here… fuck, fuck fuck, can't this bitch just shut up. I know I can't die but I really dont wanna fuckin experience it.' Masato thought and in those moments when his own panic started surging as he imagined the pain that his deaths had caused him to experience, his hand moved on its own, as if it had a mind of its own, without his own conscious thoughts seemingly affecting it at all.

One moment, the screaming was still ongoing and on the next moment… the child shinobi, maybe aged twelve, maybe a bit older… she was already dead as well whilst holding the decapitated head in her lap.

A black kunai having pierced right through the middle of her forehead and pierced directly into her brain, causing an instant death. She hadn't even been able to react, her mind too lost in her grief… not to mention that she had never expected it, never expected her own teammate… Araya to kill her.

Chapter 11 New
Looking down at the dead young shinobi by his feet, Masato… didn't feel anything, he waited for that feeling of disgust that he had read about in those many Naruto fanfictions that he had read however the feeling didn't come at all, he felt completely and utterly fine, something that perplexed him slightly.

'I felt disgusted and almost vomited when it was my own injuries but I don't feel anything about these other guys, damn, that's great.' Masato thought as he instantly started smiling widely as he lifted his foot and poked at the head of the dead girl on the ground, once, twice before lowering his foot and turning his attention back towards the distance.

'Still, this really isn't a good simulation run either, I'm not going to give up but the chances of me finishing this alone really aren't great. The wire could be connected to some kind of trap that alarms the one who set it up that something triggered it, which would lead to enemies finding my location, and if it's not that, there's also the chance that some kind of ninja like the ones from the inuzuka clan could simply smell the blood here or something and come to check.' Masato thought to himself as he took a deep breath and then crouched down as he started rummaging through the shinobi bags of Shizue and Kazuha, taking everything that could be of use to him later on.

'A few kunai and shuriken, extras wouldn't hurt to have and then there's the map of the region as well as… oh, both of them each have one soldier pill, that is useful, from what I remember from what I read one of these can keep you fed for a few days, hopefully those fanfictions were correct because I can't really remember if it was the same in the anime and manga or if that was just something that fans came up with.' Masato thought to himself as he quickly pocketed the items that Shizue and Kazuha had been carrying before he lifted himself up and turned to head further in the direction that they had been going in, however before he could take a step… he had to stop as he jumped to the side as quickly as he could.

His hands moved on pure instinct as he launched the body flicker jutsu as quickly as he could and his body flickered into the distance, crossing dozens of meters in a single instant, however Masato didn't hesitate even for one moment as he launched another body flicker jutsu, followed by another and another, by the eighth body flicker however he could already feel that his measly chakra reserves were already dwindling quickly and thus had to stop, he had reached a small clearing almost a full kilometer away by simply using the body flicker in quick succession over and over again without minding the chakra expenditure.

'That was definitely an explosive kunai, the sizzling sound and the small flash of light when it was thrown looked like metal reflecting the moonlight. Hell no, no thanks.' Masato thought however as he stood there in the small clearing, his hands on his knees as he breathed deeply, his eyes still focused on the distance behind him that he had just travelled across, he noticed that… he had already been found.

A group of four ninja stood opposite to him, all of them standing on tree branches and wearing green jonin and chunnin vests, to be more precise, it was one jonin and three chunnin inside of a team, they were all of average looks, they didn't even seem like anyone important, merely a random team of leaf shinobi.

'Damned it, there's no escaping this through force or skill, the best thing that I can do is ask for mercy considering that the hidden rain is not at war with the hidden leaf.' Masato thought in slight annoyance as he looked up at the men.

"Hey, I'm from the hidden rain, we aren't enemies, I swear." Masato said as he lifted his hands up in a surrendering gesture towards them.

The jonin, a man with dark black hair and black eyes, used a sign-less body flicker as he appeared right infront of Masato in a split second.

Masato's eyes widened in slight shock as he took an unconscious step backwards.

The man standing before him was taller than his current body, not by much however it was noticeable. He had spiky black hair that went down to his shoulders and pitch black pupil-less eyes that were currently completely focused onto Masato's own eyes, the man had no expression on his face, a completely blank emotionless look.

"He's not lying." The man said as he looked at Masato for a moment longer, his words leaving his mouth emotionlessly.

'Thank god.' Masato thought to himself as he started to nod his head in relief… only to feel a sudden sharp pain inside of his chest, looking down he found that the man's hand had extended forwards and was already holding a small short blade, a short blade that was currently hilt deep inside his chest.

Looking back up slowly at the man, blood already started spewing out of his mouth and there Masato saw it, the man's eyes were red, with three magatama rotating around a black pupil.

"Ah… I was in an illusion from the beginning wasn't I, you made it so that I couldn't see your hand movement… or the fact that you had your sharingan active… fuck. Do you wanna know something?" Masato asked as he coughed out blood, a few splatters landing on the man's cheek.

"What is it?" The man asked, still holding that expressionless look on his face.

"I think… I know why you guys hated the Senju… It's… because they at least had balls unlike you emo shrimps. You shrimpless piece of fuckin…." Masato spoke, his words slowly slurring until his head lolled to the side, dead once more whilst the red screen of the simulation ending appeared inside of his mind once more.

Chapter 12 New
The simulation ending screen was once more before him, the world around him had frozen once more and the only thing he could see was red and the holographic screen flashing right before his eyes.

'Damned Uchiha and their eyes…' Masato thought before once more thinking about restarting the simulation, the very next second that he did, the world reset once more and his eyes snapped back open, once more inside of the cave on the side of the mountain wall surrounded by the forests and the drizzle of the rain all around him.

It was however at that very moment that something… unexpected came up, a ding like notification sound rang out inside of his mind, the sound was similar to that of a small bell ringing inside his mind, and in the very next moment, a holographic screen appeared inside of his vision, floating there in the air right before him.

[ Ding! ]

[ User has killed a Gennin "Shizue" of the Rain Village. ]

[ User has unlocked the experience system. ]

[ Ding! ]

[ User has gained 100 Experience. ]

[ Ding! ]

[ User has leveled up to level 2! ]

Looking at the dozens of pop ups that were rapidly appearing before him, Masato's smile widened as a feeling of exhilaration coursed through his body, without hesitating even a second longer, he instantly opened his status screen whilst removing the popups after he had already finished reading them and he was once more disappointed.

[ Status ]

[ Name: Araya ]

..

'Damned it, It's showing me the status screen for the character that I'm currently possessing inside of the simulation and not my own, I can't even invest or look at the new system yet.' Masato thought to himself with slight annoyance before an idea went through his mind as the realisation came to him.

'Hey system, can I resume this same simulation after I die and refuse to restart, thus heading back to the real world?' Masato thought inwardly and in the very next second, the system came with the reply as the bell sound rang inside of his mind.

[ Yes. Until user finishes the current simulation successfully, he will not be granted another simulation scenario, User can leave the Simulation upon death and return back to this same scenario once more whenever he wishes to do so. ]

'Then… I could just leave and check what the experience system is and what I'm gaining for each level, before that though how about I actually try leveling up a bit more.' Masato thought to himself as the wide smile that had yet to leave his face widened even further, if anyone were to see the current him they would more than likely thing that he had gone insane, to the other people inside of the simulation, Araya had just woken up from a coma induced by a genjutsu from an enemy and the first thing that he had done was get up onto his feet and start smiling so wide that the grin had practically split his face.

It was at that very moment that the sound of footsteps was heard once more, two sets of footsteps coming closer towards him from outside of the cave.

The grin that had been present on Masato's face vanished in an instant as if it had never been there to begin with, thankfully he hadn't been facing in the direction of the footsteps and so neither of the two genin that were approaching had seen anything.

Turning around to face them, Masato lifted his hand and waved slowly.

"Hey guys… have I been out for a while?" Masato asked, his voice soft and concerned as he looked at Shizue and Kazuha who had now entered the cave and were already looking at him with expressions of pure relief on their faces.

"Quite a bit, we were… worried." Shizue spoke first on this turn of the simulation as she walked closer and gave him a hug, unable to help herself, her eyes slightly teary whilst Kazuha remained slightly back, still acting utterly awkward in any kind of emotional situation, his hands fidgeting around his waist as he pretended to be checking his ninja bag that was tied around his waste.

Minutes passed as Masato proceeded to ask the very same questions about what had happened whilst he had been unconscious, as soon as he completed this action which he had only done so as to not seem suspicious in any degree, he instantly turned up his first suggestion.

"We should stay here for the night, just to wait in case Sensei managed to escape… I know that the chances of that happening aren't high however, I just… we should have some hope in Sensei as well and besides this is a hidden location that only rain ninja know about so we should be decently safe around here right?" Masato asked with a tight smile, grief seemingly filling his eyes as he mentioned the Sensei of the group.

Kazuha nodded his head almost instantly, he had been planning to suggest the same thing as well.
"Yeah, I mean our Sensei is pretty strong, I'm sure that he managed to escape as well, I mean we weren't even really the targets of the attack and only got caught in the cross fire anyways." Kazuha spoke as he was sitting by the camp fire next to Masato and Shizue who had also sat down earlier whilst they had been talking about what had happened whilst Masato or rather Araya had been unconscious after the genjutsu.

Shizue thought to a moment, her face scrunching up slightly in thought for a moment before she seemed to come to the same decision as them as she nodded her head.

"Alright, well then we should set up a guard rotation, since I'm the most rested one out of us, I should take first watch and let you guys rest for a bit, and then Kazuha can take the second turn and Shizue can take the last. Two hour rotations?" Masato spoke as he smiled softly towards the two of them.

Chapter 13 New
Shizue and Kazuha nodded their heads in unison as they looked at Araya, their team mate, someone that they had grown up with during the academy and in the village, someone they had gone together on missions with and had learned to consider like family, they held no suspicion in their eyes, the thought that something could be wrong didn't even cross their minds at all, the thought that Araya would do something to them whilst they slept was completely unthinkable.

The two laid down by the campfire whilst Masato headed to the edge of the small cave and leaned against the wall and started counting inside of his own mine.

'One… two… three… four…' Masato counted each second, one after the other, patiently waiting whilst he closed his own eyes, focusing his attention on his hearing whilst he counted the seconds down, minutes passed slowly, finally after a while, he finished counting.

'It's been twenty minutes, I can't wait any longer considering that If I fail to kill them instantly whilst they sleep, the fight could drag out and the enemies that show up during the night after the forty minute mark could arrive and steal my well deserved… experience bags.' Masato thought to himself as his eyes snapped open, his expression had once more changed into a smile, this time not the same grin as before but a rather relaxed joyful smile as he slowly started walking towards his two team mates.

'Unfortunately, I don't have any explosion tag kunai or this would have been much easier… I have to get some of those as soon as I head back to the real world when I decide to head on missions, I really can't understand why shinobi never used them as much, maybe they're expensive? That could be the reason as to why the rain village didn't supply any to their genin even in times of war, I'm assuming that to be the case, especially considering that they're made with fuinjutsu, something to investigate later I guess.' Masato thought as he finally stopped, merely two meters away from the two young genin who were asleep on the floor by the campfire.

Lifting his hand and bringing it behind his waist where his ninja bag was located, Masato quickly took out two kunai before looking down at them in his hand and then back to the sleeping gennin.

'I could throw them however I don't really have any experience with throwing these things, the chances that I don't kill them instantly are really high, now that I'm thinking about it, I really did get lucky during the previous simulation with the instant kill to the forehead.' Masato thought to himself as he took another step closer and then crouched down to Shizue first, from what he had seen, the young girl was most definitely more experienced than Kazuha who had simply rushed forwards on the last simulation and had gotten his head decapitated by a trap, that could have simply been bad luck however he didn't have more information than that to determine which would be a bigger headache if they woke up after the first kill and so he chose the one that he thought would be the most dangerous based on the current information that he had in his hands.

Now crouched above the girl, he lifted his kunai up with one hand whilst he brough his other hand close to her face and in the next instant he slammed it as much as he could, bringing the sharp black kunai directly onto the girls forehead whilst his other hand clamped over her mouth at the same time that he had brought the kunai down.

*Schlink*

With a bloody sound of meat being pierced and quite a bit of resistance, the kunai sunk inside, directly piercing through her forehead and her skull and entering into her brain, instantly killing the young girl before she could even so much as release a gasp or wake up and struggle.

The blood quickly flowed out around the kunai and started spilling down over the sides of her forehead and hair and onto the ground below.

'I can't wait.' Masato thought as he quickly jumped, not bothering with not making any sounds as his body launched itself onto Kazuha who had already snapped his eyes open, the boys nose twitching as he smelled the sudden overwhelming smell of blood around them.

However unfortunately for the boy, he had slept too close to Shizue, and thus allowed Masato to instantly get on top of him and slam his kunai down, this time he wasn't as precise and Kazuha himself had moved his head at the very last second, still, the kunai had directly pierced all the way through the side of his neck.

Masato didn't waste another second, as soon as he saw the damage had been done, he jumped off of the boy and back onto his feet, taking a few quick steps backwards whilst Kazuha released gasping sounds, his body doubled over, both of his arms on his neck, where the kunai was still deeply imbedded into his neck almost fully to the hilt.

The wound was fatal however it didn't spell an instant death, it would be quick, the bloodloss from piercing his neck and artery would be quick however compared to a direct brain pierce, it would indeed be much slower.

Kazuha's eyes moved towards Masato, they were widened, disbelief colouring them, the boy couldn't even utter any words, his throat had already been filled with blood, only gurgling sounds could be heard coming from him as he started losing his balance and sight from the immense blood loss.

Masato stood there, a few feet away, his expression had already returned to that damned easy going smile of his as he lifted his hand and gave a cute little wave of his hand.

"Hey they kazu kazu, you doin good? Got somethin on your neck, want me to remove it for you?" Masato asked, his voice clearly amused.

Chapter 14 New
The light faded from the young boy's eyes and in the very next instant, his body fully slumped onto the ground, his head lolling to the side as the blood continued to flow out, pooling around his body in a much larger volume than the blood that had come out of Shizue.

Kazuha had his carotid artery practically slashed fully, causing the bloodloss to be immense whilst Shizue had been directly pierced through her forehead, most of the bleeding had been because of the broken skin whilst the rest had been internal damage that had showed through the blood leaving out of her nose and ears.

Masato didn't think long about what he had just done, to him these two were simply pieces on a game board, they had been created by the system and as such in his mind they weren't real, their emotions were not real and neither were their feelings or pain and despair.

Quickly walking closer to the two already cooling dead bodies on the floor, Masato's hands moved as he snatched all the supplies that they had, together with the map that was on Shizue before he turned around and started to use the body flicker to leave the area as quickly as he could, however in comparison to the last time where he had done eight body flickers in quick succession, he only did four in this current simulation run.

'I have to save up as much chakra as I can, whilst the chances of this being the run that I finish the simulation are practically void, It doesn't mean that I can't use this to gather further information on the route. I'll try heading on the long secluded route that Shizue mentioned, I don't need to survive the long weeks like them here, I just need to survive seven days, whether this body dies after I'm gone from this world doesn't matter to me.' Masato thought to himself as he pulled out the map after having finished body flickering into the forest as far as he could without completely draining his chakra reserves.

Looking at the map, he quickly found something that could be a good enough location to head to.

The land of Rain didn't only have one settlement, though the biggest one was obviously the village hidden in the rain, there were still countless smaller villages situated all around the land, and one of them was close enough that he could reach it if he continued running for around a day.

'That… let's try heading there. I can simply take over one of the houses from the villagers there and try and wait out the timer. The question now though is whether I can even reach the village without dying on the way first. I have no way to know if I'm being tracked, this body doesn't have any sensory capabilities either and neither do I know of any ways on how to hide my tracks whilst on the road…' Masato thought as he started running once more in the direction that he had set, the trees flashing by him as he ran.

As he was running, he noticed something that he had overlooked before, the speed at which he was running was much higher than he had ever been able to run at whilst on his earth, it was clear that the chakra enhancement even at these low levels was still very much noticeable, running for an entire day would have been impossible in his previous world, at least for most of the population, however in this world even whilst inside this young body, it was completely feasible.
Minutes passed, turning into hours as the first light of the dawn of the next day started shining through the foliage of the forest as Masato continued his run through the forest, he had yet to encounter any danger whilst on the road, in fact he hadn't seen any signs of any kind of human life around, the most he had seen had been the occasion craters that were clearly caused by the clashes of ninja and their battles over the land.

'Living in this world sure sucks ass doesn't it.' Masato thought to himself off handedly as he continued running, finally after around six hours since he had finished his killing of his two teammates, he left the forest and entered a massive clearing, the rain had still refused to slow down or stop, the clouds were ever present and almost completely covered the sky besides the few moments when the light of the sun that had already risen managed to pierce through them and illuminate the world below.

It was at that moment as he arrived at this clearing however that he noticed something else, the clearing wasn't empty, no in fact there was a camp, a massive shinobi camp right in front of him.

Stopping instantly, Masato felt a surge of annoyance course through his entire body, he had just spent the last six hours of his life running through a damp rainy forest in the middle of the night whilst his hands were still sticky with disgusting blood, only for it to all end up with him here, right in front of his enemy and with a squad of shinobi already waiting for him, having likely sensed his approaching chakra from farther away.

"Well… what do we have here? A little kid?" One of the approaching shinobi said from across the clearing, the camp was even further away, barely able to be seen from this distance, they had likely rushed here after sensing Masatos chakra so that he wouldn't be able to come any closer to the camp in the rare case that he was doing some kind of suicidal explosive attack.

Looking at the ninja before him, Masato instantly recognised the engraved symbol on the man's shoulder band, this was an Iwagakure camp.

"A little kid? Your mum didn't seem to mind when she saw me last night though. Should I call you the son of a pedo stone?" Masato spoke as he shrugged his shoulders, a smile appearing on his face.

Chapter 15 New
For a single long moment, silence reigned on the clearing, no one uttered a single word, the only change was the slight widening of the jaws of the Iwagakure shinobi as their eyes slowly moved from Masato towards the man that Masato had just spoken to, to their comrade who wasn't even reacting, the man was in complete shock, this had never once in his life crossed his mind as a possibility when he had first noticed who it had been that had been rushing straight towards their camp.

*Chirp* *Chirp*

The sound of birds was finally heard coming from the forest, breaking the complete silence, and just like a starting pistol, that sound finally broke the man from his shock induced stupor, as in the very next second, his face turned an alarming shade of red, veins popping on his forehead and in the very next second, his body vanished, almost leaving an afterimage behind.

And in the very next instant, Masato felt the strong grip on his throat, the man was already right before him, his hand wrapped around his neck as he slowly lifted Masato from the ground and into the air as if he weighed nothing at all.

"You… snivelling son of a bitch." The man uttered, his voice shaking as his grip continued to tighten until the sound of Masato's neck bones starting to creak was heard faintly if someone was close enough to hear it, Masato was most definitely close enough, it was his own neck, he could vividly hear the sound of his neck about to break as the man tightened his grip further and further.

Masato however was not a man who would give up, not without having the last word at least.

"Is that… the best… ugh that you can do? Can't even curse… me out … properly." Masato muttered, his voice tight and raspy, barely able to come out as he was being choked to death.

The man's face seemed to somehow redden even further, something that Masato thought would be impossible. However, just at that very moment as he was about to kill him, Masato's hand moved directly over the man's face, his fingers finding purchase on the eyes as he thrust his fingers as deeply as he could, blood instantly spurting out.

The attack didn't deter the man, if it had been a civilian, the attack would have likely caused him to back up and scream in pain however these were shinobi, not civilian villagers, the instant that the man got attacked, his grip tightened fully and a clear snapping sound was heard as Masatos neck finally gave up resistance and was broken.

The death was practically instant as the violent red screen of the simulation ending flashed before Masato's eyes, the world freezing once more, leaving only the holographic screen in front of him, obscuring most of his vision.

'How's that you fuckers, fucking finally, I actually managed to do some harm to these bullshit jonin that keep going around and killing god damn genin who aren't even their real enemies in this war.' Masato thought to himself, completely not thinking about how he had done the even more despicable thing, killing his own team mates, his brain didn't register what he had done as something evil, it only registered the other mans act as evil because it didn't benefit him, because to him, he was the player, the god of this world practically whilst they were all characters that he would be playing with.

[ Simulation End. ]

[ Cause: Death. ]

[ Restart Simulation ]

[ Quit ]

Looking at the holographic screen as he shook the thoughts out of annoyance out of his mind, Masato didn't hesitate as he thought about clicking the quit button and the system instantly responded.

[ Quitting the Simulation. ]

[ Ding! ]

[ User has killed 2x Gennin of the village hidden in the rain. ]

[ Ding! ]

[ User has gained 2x 100 experience points. ]

[ Ding! ]

[ User has leveled up to level 3! ]

The popups practically appeared one after the other without a second of delay between each other, announcing that his strategy, just as he had thought had been successful, now all that remained was leaving the simulation and checking his status in his own Naruto World.

Masato didn't have to wait long as his vision quickly started darkening whilst the holographic screens that were floating in front of him vanished one after the other until none remain and the only thing he could see was the red coloured world, the frozen iwagakure shinobi whose eyes had been pierced and who was still holding Masato off the ground by his neck.

And in less than five seconds that sight too vanished, everything returning to pure darkness, darkness that lasted for another few seconds where he had no feeling in his body, where he couldn't see, couldn't hear, smell or touch. And then that darkness swiftly vanished as well as feeling returned to his body.

The first thing that he felt was the pain, the pain of his own broken body that was still inside of the medical ward of the Konoha camp.
Opening his eyes, he found that nothing had changed, in fact it was exactly the same as when he had first entered the simulation.

'The time dilation is one to ten thousand, and I spent around eight hours or so across all the simulations together, that would translate to barely three seconds or so. That… is really convenient.' Masato thought to himself as he looked around the tent for a moment, though he couldn't see much as his bed was completely surrounded by the curtains that the medical ninja had placed around it.

'Alright… Well, no time to waste, let's check the thing that I actually came here to check and then I can head back inside that simulation.' Masato thought as he focused his gaze in front of him and uttered the words softly.

"Status."
