Old threadmarks seem to occasionally count as new whenever I visit a thread I haven't seen in a while.
So when an old thread pops up in my watched list with an update, the Go To First Unread feature becomes a bit useless.
 
...Hm. I've seen old threadmarks I genuinely haven't read tagged with the "new" banner despite being too old for that, but I haven't observed that particular interaction.
