On a Pale Horse (Umamusume/Youjo Senki)

The problem is that it is Shirogane saying that, not a trainer or a tester. You are assuming that one of the testers told her she was slow. So far, the only person in the story who has said she was slower than an average racer is Shirogane herself and how reliable of a narrator is she?
I don't think she's just making an assumption here. She likely got told her top speed on the test, and either the trainer commented about it being below average for a racer, or Shirogane looked up average racer speed and compared her number to that number. She could also have been observing other racers taking the entrance exams, but her incident with the starting gate makes me doubt that.

Let us just remember that this is Tanya Degurechaff we are talking about here, with a new name and a slightly less twitchy personality. She is NOT known for her perfect judgement about herself. She is known for over-thinking and over-preparing for darn near everything. She is also known for underestimating her own capabilities which is why she pushed herself as hard as she did in her previous lives.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet, but I absolutely love that she has both ear ornaments. Because she reincarnated more than once, and her previous lives had her both male and female.

In other words, the fact that it "felt wrong" with only one is likely the same thing that leads each uma to only have one. It's a spiritual thing.

Edit: for people unaware, Umamusume ear ornaments are subtle indications of whether the reincarnated horse was a mare or stallion.

Isn't the red band around the base of the tail also a warning that the horse kicks?

I have found what Shirogane's first winning song should be:

From Shirogane's point of view, it wouldn't matter what the lyrics are in Polish because no one in Japan will understand the words.

Instant fame in the Polish community for, from their perspective, the absolute balls it takes to sing that straight faced without laughing on live TV.

Given that the English translation is roughly:
"After eating your delicious soup,
I can't move my ass off the toilet
That soup had milk in it
I'm allergic to milk."
GoldShip won't be looking like the biggest troll umamusume around

Unfortunately, putting aside that her name isn't Gold Ship and her finding the lyric, her mother's the one who taught her Polish, I think, and she's not the sort who would survive the sheer embarrassment of her mother hearing about it.

The internet is forever, and she's wise enough not to underestimate Journalist curiosity.

The question becomes whether or not a tester gave her feedback at the time of testing and actually told her she was below average, or if it is just her own assumptions.

Remember we're talking about the person who describes coming in second in multiple national competitions as "average" so I really wouldn't trust their definition of "average".

Also, good trainers/teachers will find ways to push you along even if you are not actually falling behind. For example: telling you that someone else lifted x amount of weight which might be a few pounds or kilograms more than you just lifted... and unless you were right there watching that person lift that weight, you have no idea you were just lied to.
I can see some Tracen trainers telling their Umas.... "Hey, that Uma is faster than you...." just to make their Uma feel the competitive edge more. It does not necessarily mean they were actually faster.
