On a Pale Horse (Umamusume/Youjo Senki)

Not sure I quite understood what exactly was making Grass Wonder unhappy - just that she thinks Shirogane is so far ahead of her?

I mean. Isn't that just like The Salaryman again?
Not really, like Salaryman is in it to win it. To prove his existence, that he's special in some ways. In Uma Musume term, he probably wouldn't be too out of place with the average Uma Musume who dreams of winning races and be at the top of the running sport food chain.

This one is over all of that, she's in it for the money now. But at least this time she got friends and family to share it with.

Once she saw what her trainee had put together at what seemed to be a whim, Hana ran out of avenues to dissuade her trainee from challenging the Tiara races as well.
venue? Singular?
*marches out with prop rifle singing war time music*

"Oh yeah…she still gets money for second place, right? So she's probably okay then."
The difference in Umas that grew up with her and tracen Umas with their expectations is great.

Now that she thought about it, she should probably talk with normal people more often, lest the athletic obsession warp her outlook too much.
I don't know Shiro, is Tensei really that normal?

Also, I was actually rereading this wonderful fic earlier, and was going to call out that Shirogane was hanging out at the stump, and lo and behold, it gets backed up in today's chapter!

In many ways, being more officially on a trainer's team did not change things for Shirogane.

She still attended classes as she had previously, ate at the cafeteria, her apartment, or at the stump, and she still continued her morning warm ups with Suzuka-san, though that was less due to any explicit decision on either of their part, and more just falling into a habit once they crossed paths several times.

Avenues is correct. "A way of approaching a problem or making progress towards a solution"

Hee, finally they've decided Shirogane is a ghost that came from the stump of despair. Also, wow, even finger guns were enough to set her off. Someone's gonna do something stupid one day like play a video with gunfire in it and be very shocked when she leaps across the table at them.
