On a Pale Horse (Umamusume/Youjo Senki)

So, watching the League of Legends Worlds gave me a thought: are the big G1 races going to have trailers/teasers? I know Rice Shower's famous glowing eye comes from a real trailer the JRA put out for that Tenno Sho, so I'm curious if in a world where the competitors can actually say lines, there'll be trailers where you get umas aura farming with generationally hard one-liners.
Every big name racer getting an aura farming video of them fighting for the finish.
Meanwhile Shirogane's wit-maxed racing style video:

Pretty sure that's already a thing, kinda. Putting aside the various billboards in Cinderella Grey, there's also the various individual interview and press conference they sometimes held a day or so before the races themselves. They sometimes blurt out a one-liner or two then.

In chp 161 of Cinderella Grey, there was even special television program where they interview the various Uma runners participating in the upcoming Takarazuka Kinen.

As a random thought, I wonder if there are underground Uma streeet races in this universe? Because with how popular Uma racing is, I would not be surprised if underground Uma races took the place of street car racing for the most part.

Actually I remember reading a fanfic going in that direction that I think was inspired by initial D? I'm not 100% on the inspiration part but it definitely delved into the illegal street racing

In the LN the salaryman reminisce about how often he only comes up as 2nd or 3rd on NATIONAL LEVEL COMPETITION, physical and nonphysical, and concluded that he will never be good enough to be some top level performer. That's why he choose to be an HR manager.
Fannon unfortunately. LN!Salaryman complains about not being able to measure up to true geniuses, but we never get any comparisons about where he stands relative to them either. Even with all Tanya's future knowledge and military otaku hobby she still comes in 12th at War College. She's certainly intelligent, but coming 2nd or 3rd on the national level across multiple fields out of nation of 124 million is bit beyond being just intelligent.

I've always known that I wasn't the best. Unable to compete with the geniuses and unable to match the gifted through hard work and dedication, my personality has grown utterly warped. I'm a mess of convoluted complexes.

Honestly... I get that it's because its trying to sell racehorses, but I'm just stuck wondering if in a fleshed out world there wouldn't be events that lean more towards Olympic Equestrianism instead of just horse racing.

Cross Country distance events, and dressage style competitions where precise movement is the key instead of gotta go fast. Heck, showjumping where it's more of a precision gymnastics event and that sort of thing

and other countries have the 'steeplechase' (which, if you don't know, is basically 'an obstacle course race for horses')

AN. Despite this story being quite happy and relatively carefree compared to my other stories, for some reason it makes me more emotional. Maybe it's actually because there isn't that much conflict. That sounds kind of nice these days.
I feel this so much, seeing Shiro love her family in her own rational/cynical/idk way, and the fam being confounded yet trying their best for her, stirs something fierce in my heart, I just want 'em happy dammit.

She might kind of Tim Duncan her way out of the scene and just disappear.
Shiro boutta Jokic her way into avg'ing the uma musume equivalent of a triple double in her career, "this is just a job", un-Jokic-ly being indifferent about horse racing.

Jungle Pocket was stated to have done that before entering Tracen and was one of the best. Tap Dance City intro also has her racing there. Although, afaik, they still race in turf or dirt, just on abandoned or empty lots.

The talk about explosive force and running methods came to mind when I saw this.

Oh cool, new Horse mutation to add to the horse breeding Meta if the gait is useful for racing.

Always cool when those crop up given how mapped out horse genealogy is these days.
So many in the racing industry pray that they'll breed the next horse to be host to the "Big Red" mutation. (Man o' War, Secretariat, Phar Lap. All massive chestnut horses. All with abnormal massive hearts and perfectly conformed body proportions.)

'A foal is born at midnight
And in the frosty morn
The horseman eyes him fondly,
And a secret hope is born.

But breathe it not, nor whisper
For fear of a neighbor's scorn.
He's a chestnut colt, and he's got a star.
He may be another Man o' War.

Nay, say it aloud—be shameless.
Dream and hope and yearn,
For there's never a man among you
But waits for his return.

from "Big Red", by J.A. Estes

I read that one is carried on only in the mother's genes, so it's kind of a catch-22, getting a monster like Secretariat vs preserving the lineage of the mutation.
