Upon returning to her cottage, Fluttershy soon learned two facts about her situation. The first, was that she was indeed in way over her head. Contrary to what her original belief when she offered to foalsit the so called "Cutey Mark Crusaders", this was anything but easy. The three fillies were...a hooful to say the least. They didn't seem to run out of energy and constantly talked about doing things that Fluttershy saw as dangerous. Like going into the dark, scary, Everfree Forest in some strange attempt to get their Cutie Marks. She tried to convince them to calm down...but her attempts had been less than successful.

"Break anything," she opined while watching the three fall over each other after playing "Creature Catchers". Where Apple Bloom and Scootaloo pretended to be a monster for Sweetie Bell to capture. They had landed on one of her tables and broken it into multiple pieces.

The three of them looked ashamed, Scootalo even more so with a laundry basket on her head. Sweetie Bell was the first to say, "Sorry, Fluttershy."

"Yeah, sorry," Scootaloo followed up.

"Ah guess we aren't Creature Catchers," Apple Bloom finished, all three fillies laying on the floor totally dejected.

Fluttershy started to comfort them, however, every ponies attention was suddenly taken by the sound of someone walking down the stairs. Looking up the four mares saw a familiar face making his way to the first floor. Lucey was smiling while carrying two plates filled with tea cakes down with him. His gaze fell onto the Crusaders, eyebrow raising, "My, my. Did the three of you do that?"

Suddenly, the three fillies were all standing with their heads bowed. Their originally energetic disposition had all but disappeared the second Lucey stepped into the room. Sweetie Bell started drawing circles in the carpet with her hoof, Apple Bloom was rubbing at her hoof, and Scootaloo was the first to speak up, "Y-Yeah. We're really sorry."

Lucey said nothing as he put the plates of cakes down and walked over to the broken object. He crouched down and rubbed his chin while humming to himself. He put a finger on the shattered furniture and gently rocked part of it back and forth, "Yep, this is broken alright. A shame. I did like this table."

Those words seemed to get the Crusaders to worry even more. That is, until he looked at them with a smile, "Guess we'll just have to fix it, won't we? But I'll need you girls' help to do it. Think you all could be my Cutie Mark Carpenters for a bit."

The fillies' eyes all lit up at this words. They yelled out in unison, "Cutie Mark Crusaders Carpenters! Yay!"

While Fluttershy was left rubbing her ears at the yelling, Lucey seemed fine. He sat down on his knees, cleared his throat, then held out his hand, "Very well, let's begin. Scootalo, bring me a hammer."

"Right!" the orange filly dashed away before coming back with a hammer in her mouth. She placed it in Lucey's outstretched hand and waited for his next instruction.

"Thank you, now hold this please," he handed her on of the broken table legs before turning to Apple Bloom, "Apple Bloom? Could you bring me some nails? In a box, please."

"Yes sir!" Apple Bloom hurried off and came right back with a box of nails on her back.

"Good," Lucey took the nails then placed them down next to him, "Now hold this."

He gave her another table leg before looking down at Sweetie Bell. The filly was still standing behind him, so nervous she couldn't meet his eyes. Lucey spoke gently as he carefully reached over and guided her to his side, "Sweetie Bell. You sit here and watch me work, alright?"

"O-O-Okay, but why?"

"Because you're so cute, that you'll give me motivation to work harder," Lucey's words were simple and straightforward, but they were enough to make Sweetie Bell blush like crazy. She mumbled and affirmative while looking at the floor, steam coming off the top of her head. Scootaloo looked to Apple Bloom, eyebrow raising in confusion, but Apple Bloom could only shrug.

As Lucey proceeded to work on the table, Fluttershy trotted over to the plates with the tea cakes. She sighed while picking one up and daintily eating it. This was the second fact she had become aware of since starting; Lucey was seemed to be better than her at this. She didn't know what it was, but Lucey seemed able to corral the three fillies without even trying. When they had arrived at her house, the three had stayed put while he headed up stairs to get the tea cakes. But the second she tried to get them to listen to her, they went right back to being more energetic than she could handle. She figured that was how the whole night was gonna go.

Yet the moment Lucey came back, they were all back to doing as he said. They were even sitting completely still while he worked on the table. He did ask for them to help him out, but only when their actions wouldn't cause any more issues. By the time three minutes had passed, the table was completely repaired. Lucey even took a moment to polish it with his toga to make sure it shined like new.

He wiped the sweat off his brow and smiled at the three girls, "Good job, Cutie Mark Crusaders. You were all big helps. Now, let's see if you got anything."

With excited smiles all three fillies looked at their flanks to see if their Cutie Marks had appeared. But their excitement is soon dashed as they remain blank. All three say, "Awwww", in unison.

"Oh, I'm sorry girls," Fluttershy hovered over to them, carrying a plate of tea cakes with her, "But look on the bright side. You all did a great job helping Lucey fix the table. Now, how about we all-"

"Ha! That's it!" Apple Bloom suddenly shouted hopping up and down while looking at her friends, "That's something we can try to do! Become Digimon...uh...what're ya'll called again, Fluttershy? Digimon...Sitters?"

"Tamers," Lucey answered for Fluttershy, "They're called Digimon Tamers. And that might not be a bad idea. We have been looking for poines to adopt the eggs. What do you think, Fluttershy?"

The three fillies all turned their bright smiles and wide eyes onto Fluttershy. She bit her lip as nervousness took her over, "Uh, I don't know. Having pets are big responsibilities. Are you girls sure you can handle it?"

"We'll never know until we try!" Apple Bloom said, soon joined by her friends.

Still unsure, Fluttershy looked at Lucey. Lucey nodded, "It should be fine. If anything, it might actually be fore the best. Digimon grow based on the bonds and emotions of their owners. And, considering these there are so...energetic, their Digimon should grow rather well. And besides, they have to actually hatch the eggs first. Something that might not happen."

With Lucey backing them up, the three fillies stared expectantly at Fluttershy. While she was still somewhat uncertain, Lucey's words helped calm her nerves. After a few moments of contemplation, she eventually smiled and nodded at the fillies, "Alright. But you girls need to be careful, okay?"

"CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS, DIGIMON TAMERS! YAY!" they all shouted before dashing out the back door and towards where they thought the eggs were. Fluttershy and Lucey followed after them to make sure they didn't do anything too damaging. When they made it outside, they saw the three fillies standing around the nest that had been created for the eggs. All three of them had already grabbed their own, with Scootaloo struggling to lift up one of the solid gray eggs, "Wow! These things are...heavier than I thought."

"Maybe to ya'll, but it's not that bad to me," Apple Bloom said as she easily carried her own egg in her hooves, "They're about as heavy as a barrel o' apples."

"Well that's...nnh...good for you," Sweetie Bell replied, trying to move her chosen egg by pushing against it with her head.

"Girls! Be careful! You don't want to hurt the eggs," Fluttershy zipped over and quickly helped the three get better grips on the eggs.

While she did that, Lucey hovered over and stopped a few steps away from the scene. He put a hand on his chin and raised an eyebrow, "That's strange. They haven't hatched yet."

"Huh? Are they supposed to hatch when you touch them?" Scootaloo asked, looking at her own egg with newfound confusion.

"That's how it worked for us," Lucey shrugged and closed the distance as he explained, "I hatched after Fluttershy touched my egg once. The others hatched overnight. And considering how easy it was for the others to evolve into their Rookie Stages, I assumed something similar would happen with you three."

"Does that mean we already did somethin' wrong," Apple Bloom asked, looking distraught.

Fluttershy came over and rubbed the girl's head, "No, no, Apple Bloom. It's just yours are probably a bit different. They need a lot of love and care before they're gonna hatch."

Chapter 16: Cutie Marks and Cockatrices

Suddenly, the three fillies were all standing with their heads bowed. Their originally energetic disposition had all but disappeared the second Lucey stepped into the room. Lucey said nothing as he put the plates of cakes down and walked over to the broken object. He crouched down and rubbed his chin while humming to himself. He put a finger on the shattered furniture and gently rocked part of it back and forth, "Yep, this is broken alright. A shame. I did like this table."

"But how are we supposed to give 'em that?" Apple Bloom asked, lightly tapping her egg.

"Don't you usually sit on eggs to keep them warm?" Scootaloo said, looking the eggs up and down. She swallowed and said, "I don't think we'll be able to do that."

"Digi-Eggs don't need to be kept warm, necessarily," Lucey stated while crouching to be level with the girls. He then glanced up at the sky and smiled as an idea came over him, "But, I know of a way to check and see if it'll work. It's late enough that the three of you should be in bed."

"What?! Aww!" all three girls said in unison, looking visibly deflated at the thought of having to go to bed. Apple Bloom protested, "But we're not tired!"

Lucey put a hand on his chin, "Hmm, maybe. But, like I said, the other Digimon hatched after the night passed. Perhaps your Digimon will hatch after you get a good night's sleep?"

Lucey's words easily swayed the three fillies, who all made to drag their eggs into Fluttershy's house...with little success. They mostly accomplished just moving the eggs a little bit without really going anywhere. Holding back chuckles, both Lucey and Fluttershy helped the fillies get their eggs, carrying them into the cottage and up the stairs to their room. Once they, and their eggs, were all tucked in nice and cozy, Fluttershy bid them good night. The three fillies said good night then tried to force themselves to sleep, each one with an egg next to them in bed.

After Fluttershy left the room, she let out a sigh and looked up at her Digimon, "Thank you so much, Lucey. I don't think I would've been able to handle them if you weren't here. Haaa, I guess I'm not really made to be a foalsitter."

Lucey smiled then patted Fluttershy on her head, "Now, now, don't be so down on yourself, Fluttershy. I'm sure you'd be a great sitter. But looking after those three requires...a special touch."

"You mean like what you have?" she turned to look up at him with a frown, "How do you get them to hang onto your every word anyway?"

"Oh, it's nothing. Just a little bit of Hero Worship left over from when I saved Apple Bloom and Sweetie Bell, plus using what you've taught me when it comes to handling animals. Soft voice, calm tone, and speak in ways that make them love you," Lucey kept smiling as he spoke.

Fluttershy started blushing as she said, "Y-You learned that from me?"

"Who better? Now, let me go make you some tea," Lucey said, heading towards the stairs. Fluttershy giggled, flying up and muttering happily to herself as she followed Lucey.

Meanwhile, within the guest room where the Cutie Mark Crusaders are supposedly resting...

"Urgh, this isn't working!" Apple Bloom said, sitting up in bed and causing her own egg to shake. She slaps her front hooves onto the bed, "Aye got too much energy!"

"Me too," Scootaloo sits up as well, being a bit more careful with her own egg, "But how else are we supposed to get our eggs to hatch?"

"Maybe we got bad eggs? Ya know, ones that aren't supposed to hatch," Apple Bloom said with a shrug.

Sweetie Bell sat up and gasped, "Don't say that, Apple Bloom! It's like Fluttershy said, we just need to give them love and care. Don't worry, little Digimon egg. You can hatch whenever you want to."

She then started to gently rub the outside of her own egg with a hoof. Apple Bloom and Scootaloo flinched before looking ashamed. Scootaloo was looked at her own egg and smiled while touching it with her tiny wing, "Yeah, sorry little Digimon. I'm sure you'll hatch soon, and you'll be awesome! Just like Rainbow Dash."

"And ya'll get big and strong like Big Loo, lil' guy! I can't wait to show ya 'round the farm and introduce you to mah family!" Apple Bloom gently nuzzled her face against her own egg.

And, a moment after this, the three eggs all began to move in unison. The three fillies gasped, all hopping backwards on the bed as the eggs started to rock back and forth. The three fillies looked at each other, lips curling into excited smiles as they watched their eggs hatch. That was, until all three started glowing so bright that the CMC had to cover their eyes. The light became so bright that it encompassed the entire room and shined out the window. However, as quickly as it came, it soon disappeared.

"Wh-What was that?" Sweetie Bell asked while looking around the room. She squinted and kept rubbing at her eyes, "I still can't see anything."

"Ah don't know," Apple Bloom's head darted in every direction as she tried to see anything, "Did ya'll hear anything? Like an egg shell crackin'?"

"Nope! Nothing like...woah!" Scootaloo shouted as something slightly prickly knocked her off the bed. She heard a small squeak as it fell with her, the two of them hitting the floor and rolling into the wall. She grunted while rubbing the back of her head with one eye closed, "Ah, Apple Bloom watch where you're going!"

"Apple Bloom?" the voice was unfamiliar. High-pitched and much too squeaky. Not like Apple Bloom or Sweetie Bell's voices at all. Stiffening in both apprehension and excitement, Scootaloo opened both her eyes and looked down at what had rammed her off the bed. What she saw was a small, round, gray and white furry creature. It had big, round blue-green eyes that stared at her with curiosity and awe. It's little mouth hung open in confusion, showing that it only had two teeth. One on the top and one on the bottom. On its head was a yellow spine in the shape of a lightning bolt, with four more spines sticking out of its hindquarters. It looked up at Scootaloo and then said, "Who's that? I'm Pusurimon! And, matter of fact, who are you? Are you another Digimon?"

"...EEEEEE!" Scootaloo couldn't help the girlish squeal she let out, as she grabbed the Digimon in her lap. Careful to avoid touching the spines, she squeezed the little guy into a huge bear hug while her little wings flapped in excitement, "It worked, it worked, it worked! I've got a Digimon. And you are so cute!~"

"I don't know what this is...but I like it!" Pusurimon said, trying his best to return Scootaloo's hug.

Apple Bloom and Sweetie Bell, their eyes having cleared up, both stared at Scootaloo and Digimon with their mouths hanging open. Then Apple Bloom frowned and stood up, "No fair! Where's mah Digimon?! Didn't they all hatch at the same-"

"Watch out!" another tiny voice shouted as a small, white creature landed just in front of her. Its body, which seemed to also be its head, was completely white with dashes of red on the tips of its two horns and the frills on its back. It blinked and opened up two bright yellow eyes while wiggling its little black nose. The sudden appearance of the strange creature made both fillies squeak and fall back, sending Sweetie Bell off her side of the bed. Her panicked shriek was cut off as two soft things grabbed her and gently carried her down to the floor. Her eyes were drawn to the similar creature that was sitting on the floor near the bed.

The closest thing she could compare it to was a bunny rabbit. But instead of pure white fur and four limbs, it was a moving head with dusty yellow fur, and its two large ears were pointing out the top of its forehead. Its eyes were completely covered by its fur, but it didn't seem to have any issue watching Sweetie's movements. The unicorn filly slowly crawled her way forward and asked, "Um, uh, um, he-hello, there. Are you...my Digimon?"

"I don't know," the little Digimon said, its voice high-pitched but calm rather than scared. It slowly hopped closer to Sweetie Bell, "Are you a Digimon?"

"No. I'm Sweetie Bell," she said, trying to remain calm and not immediately reach out and rub the Digimon's soft looking fur.

"Hey, Sweetie Bell. I'm Bosamon. What's a Sweetie Bell?" the other Digimon said, hopping around to Sweeite's right side, "You look bigger than normal Digimon. Are you a Champion?"

"No. I'm a Unicorn filly," Sweetie Bell said, sitting up as the watched the Digimon hop around her, "And, I think you hatched out of the egg I was holding. So, um, I figured that meant I was your Tamer."

"Are you?"

"You don't know?"

"I just hatched. There's a lot I don't know. Other than being a Digimon, how to move, how to use my ears, and that you're a Unicorn filly. Whatever that is."

Sweetie Bell and Bosamon stared at each other, both looking confused and not sure what to do next. The silence between them was broken by Apple Bloom shouting Sweetie's name. The two looked up at the bed to see her flying over the edge of the bed while holding onto the Digimon that had fallen from the ceiling. Said Digimon was floating into the air with his two horns glowing purple, laughing along with the young filly. However, its horns soon stopped glowing and the two fell onto the floor. Bosamon moved to the left to avoid the other Digimon falling on top of it, while Sweetie Bell didn't move fast enough and ended up with Apple Bloom landing on her flank first.

"Sorry, Sweetie," Apple Bloom said while helping her friend up. But she quickly rebounded and said, "But did ya'll see what mah Digimon could do?! Little feller can fly!"

"I'm actually just making myself lighter with gravity control," the Digimon in question said, shaking its head to get rid of the stars in its eyes, "At least, I think that's what I did. I just thought it would cool, so I did it."

"Darn tootin' it was cool!" Apple Bloom said, confidently stepping up to and petting the Digimon on the head, "I'm Apple Bloom. What's your name little fella?"

"I'm Gurimon! Nice to meet you Apple Bloom!" the now named Gurimon said while bumping his head into Apple Bloom's hoof. He then looked over at Bosamon and said, "Ah, sorry for almost landing on you. I can't control my powers well yet. But I'll get to it! What's your name?"

"Bosamon," Bosamon said while taking a few steps away from Gurimon, "And, if you don't mind, I'm gonna stand at least a few steps away from you. Just as a precaution."

"Girls! Girls!" Scootaloo came climbing over the bed, landing in between the fillies and the Digimon with her own still held in her hoof. She held Pusurimon up for everypony to see, "Check it out! I got him! I got my own Digimon!"

"So did we, look!" Apple Bloom pointed towards the others who were staring up at Pusurimon.

The hedgehog-like Digimon wiggled out of Scootaloo's grasp and ran over to the other two. Without warning, he hopped on to Bosamon's head, flattening the rabbit Digimon's ears while giggling, "Hehehe, you're really soft! What kind of Digimon are you?"

Bosamon was cut off as Gurimon hopped up and landed on Pusurimon's back. He spoke up, "That's Bosamon. I'm Gurimon. And you're kind of prickly. Ow."

"Yeah, be careful of the spines. They're always like that! I'm Pusurimon! Nice to-wooooaaahhh," the weight of the combined Digimon sent all three tumbling to the ground. But none of them seemed upset. They all started to laugh as they rolled around on the floor.

"They are soooo cute~!" Sweetie Bell said, eyes sparkling while watching their Digimon frolic. Then she gasped and said, "Our Cutie Marks!"

All three looked at their flanks...but didn't see anything. Their excitement soon waned as Apple Bloom let out a loud grunt of annoyance, "Aw, come on! Not even that worked!"

"So, are we not Digimon Tamers?" Scootaloo asked, sounding distraught at the thought of not having her own Digimon.

"I don't think so. My sister's got a Digimon, but her Cutie Mark didn't change. Maybe being a Tamer is about more than having a Digimon?" Sweetie Bell posited while idly tapping her muzzle.

"Hey, yeah!" Apple Bloom shouted, regaining her enthusiasm, "In fact, I bet it has to do with them evolving or whatever it was. We probably have to help them evolve first!"

"What are you three talking about?" Gurimon said, rolling over and gently hitting Apple Bloom's leg, "Are you talking about food? We're all kind of hungry."

A trio of growling stomachs responded to Guriomon's assertion. Hearing that Sweetie Bell said, "Well, I guess we need to go get Fluttershy and-"

"No, wait!" Apple Bloom got in the way of her friend before Sweetie could get close to the door, "We're supposed to be sleep! If they find out we're still awake, they're gonna be real upset."

"Then what are supposed to do? Not exactly much to eat in here except the sheets and...Pusurimon! No!" Scootaloo grabbed her Digimon before it could bite down on the bed covers, "That didn't mean eat them!"

"Aw," Pusurimon sounded honestly upset. Meanwhile, Apple Bloom looked at the bed, then at the single window leading out into Fluttershy's backyard. And she got a devious little idea.

"So, Fluttershy, what do you-" Lucey was interrupted by the sound of something wooden shattering outside.

"What was that?!" Fluttershy shouted, flying into the air and heading towards her backdoor. Lucey followed her, making sure to put up the tea and cakes before doing so. The two of them burst through the backdoor to find Fluttershy's Chicken Coop in disarray. All around, her chickens were clucking up a storm as they ran every which way. Fluttershy gasped, "Oh no! Everypony, what happened?"

"Let's get them all back in the Coop, first. Then we can figure that out," Lucey said, already flying over and grabbing some of the chickens in his arms. With his help, Fluttershy quickly got all the chickens back to where they belonged...well, almost all of them.

"Elizabeak, she's missing!" Fluttershy said after seeing that one of the spaces in her Coop was empty.

"She's not the only one," Lucey called down from the second floor of Fluttershy's home. His wings flapped as he hovered near the singular window, looking inside the room where the Cutie Mark Crusaders were supposed to be. Turning, he instantly spotted a trail leading out of the backyard and into...the Everfree Forest. Though what caught his eye the most were the prints left in the dirt. Not just hoofprints or talonprints, but prints more reminiscent of...

"Baby Digimon," Lucey sighed as Fluttershy ran over to him. He then looked at her as he landed and pointed a finger at the Everfree, "I think I can guess what happened. Seems their eggs hatched sooner than expected."

"So, did their Digimon do this?"

"I think they were part of it. Baby Digimon are really hungry when they're first born. They were probably looking for food for them, but didn't want to let us know they were awake. They came out the window, the Babies saw the Chicken Coop, and probably tried to eat the eggs. The fillies stopped them but, Elizabeak had already gone."

"Oooh, those girls have really done it this time. They've really bitten off more than they can chew...just like me," Fluttershy said, before looking towards the Everfree. She felt fear seize her heart and nearly stopped herself from going in. However, that fear wasn't as strong as her want to protect those three fillies from danger. And that feeling only grew stronger as she felt Lucey's hand pat her back. Looking up at her Digimon, Fluttershy took a deep breath before the two of them flew into the Everfree Forest.

"Here, chick-chick-chick," Apple Bloom shouted, followed by her making her best impression of a chicken.

"What are you doing?" Scootaloo asked, confused by her friend's actions.

"Callin' for the chicken."

"That is not how you call a chicken."

"Oh and you know how to call a chicken?"

"I know that's not the way. Back me up, Pursi," Scootaloo said, looking at the hedgehog Digimon on her back.

But instead what she got was a sad sounding, "I'm sorry I scared the chicken away."

Scootaloo's expression fell and she nuzzled her Digimon's face, "It's alright. You guys were hungry and didn't know better. Just make sure you never do anything like that again, got it?"

"Okay," Pursi said, perking up a little bit, "But it was funny to see Lil' Gu' covered in feathers when he tried to tackle those three chickens."

"Those chickens were faster than I thought. Even managed to avoid me when I was using my gravity control," the Gurimon on Apple Bloom's back, Lil' Gu', said, shaking one more feather out of his head, "And I'm sorry, too. I was just hungry."

"Clearly your Digimon need to learn a thing or two from Fluffykins here," Sweetie Bell said, reaching behind her and patting Bosamon on his head as he road on her back. Said Digimon said nothing, but his ears seemed to stand a bit taller. The two other Crusaders looked at each other and mouthed out "Fluffykins?" as Sweetie Bell shouted back, "And have you seen anything yet?"

"Nope! Not yet," both Scootaloo and Apple Bloom said aloud as they continued after Sweetie Bell. Apple Bloom continued making her chicken noises, trying to attract Elizabeak. Soon she was joined by Lil' Gu' copying her in his own way.

Meanwhile, far behind them, Fluttershy was trotting along the Everfree Forest trail after the girl's hoofprints. She was shaking like a leaf, muttering to herself in order to stay brave. Lucey walked right beside her, keeping an eye out for anything dangerous. Fluttershy looked up and asked, "D-D-Do you see them, Lucey?"

"Not yet. Are you sure flying is out of the question?" he asked, holding out his wings for emphasis.

Fluttershy nodded, "Y-Yeah. W-We might miss them if we fly too high o-or too fast."

"Good point. Still though I-"

"Urgh."

Fluttershy squealed and hid behind Lucey's leg while Lucey aimed a Holy Shot in the direction the sound came from. The light from his finger broke through the dark of the underbrush, revealing the source of the sound.

"Cornelius?! Twilight?!" Lucey said, sounding surprised. Fluttershy looked around Lucey's leg and gasped as she saw what he meant. Sitting within the bushes was Cornelius in his Rookie form with his Tamer...who had been turned to stone.

"L-Lucey? Fluttershy?" Corenlius said, pushing himself to his feet...and revealing that those had been turned to stone, "Is that you?"

"Oh my!" Fluttershy shouted, dashing to check on the Rookie Digimon and her friend, "W-What happened?! What did this to you?!"

"A C-Cockatrice. Twilight and I were...on our way to Zecora. Ran into it. She looked into its eyes and got-petrified before I could evolve. I looked at it too but...it seems that the petrification process isn't working as well on me," he looked at his two feet that had been turned to stone. After grunting to right himself against a bush he continued, "I drove it off with my Blazing Ice and dragged Twilight with me here."

Lucey flew over and gently put a hand on Twilight. She was cold to the touch, but he didn't think she was gone. If she was, Cornelius would probably be panicking much more than he was. He didn't know if they could sense when their Tamers were in danger, but he liked to think that they could sense if something terrible had happened to them. He knelt down and patted Cornelius on the head to comfort him, "My condolences. Is that Cockatrice still nearby?"

"Most likely. I-I don't know how to undo the process but-if you could find a way...please."

"We will, I promise," Fluttershy said, smiling at the Rookie Digimon.

"Did you see Apple Bloom, her friends, three Baby Digimon, and a chicken pass through by any chance?" Lucey asked, though he figured he knew the answer already.

Cornelius shook his head, "No, but if they're out here, they're in danger. You need to find them, fast! Before the Cockatrice gets them!"

"R-Right. S-Stay safe. We'll be back for both of you," Fluttershy said, revolve strengthened by the thought of helping her friend. She looked at Lucey and said, "Change of plans. We're flying, now!"

Lucey nodded and the two took to the skies. Fluttershy repeatedly called out, "Girls?! Girls?!" as they flew, while Lucey kept his eyes focused on the dirt path below. Now in flight, it didn't take them any time at all to spot the three fillies walking through the woods. Lucey pointed at them and the two of them flew down to land in front of the group.

"Fluttershy? Lucey?" Apple Bloom called as the two arrived.

"Wow! What's that Digimon?" Pursi said, hopping off Scootaloo's back and running over to Lucey. He tripped over his own paws and ended up skidding to a halt in front of the Angelic Digimon. But he easily got back on his feet and stared up in awe at Lucey, "You're huge! Am I gonna get that big when I evolve?!"

"Of course we are," Lil' Gu' said, hopping off Apple Bloom's back and coming to stand beside Pursi, "I bet he's a Champion. And once we grow up, we'll probably be bigger than him. Hey there! I'm Lil' Guri'! This is Pursi, and that's Fluffykins!"

"I'm actually a Bosamon, but I like the name," Fluffykins said, keeping his perch on Sweetie Bell's back.

"As much as I'd love to return your greetings, there is no time. We need to head back to Fluttershy's house," Lucey stated, gently patting the two Digimon in front of him to get them to move back.

"But we haven't found the chicken yet," Sweetie said, in protest.

"There's no time for that," Fluttershy began, "There's a Cockatrice on the loose."

"A Cocka-what?" Apple Bloom stated in confusion.

"What kind of Digimon is that?" Lil' Gu' said, sharing Apple Bloom's confusion.

"It's not a Digimon, it's a terrifying monster-"

"-that has the head of a chicken and the body of snake," Lucey began and Fluttershy finished for him, "Now come on!"

However, somehow without either of them noticing, the three fillies and their Digimon were already walking away. With Sweetie Bell saying, "The head of a chicken and the body of a snake?"

"That's not scary, that's silly," Scootaloo backed up.

"Yeah," Pursi agreed, "and if it's not a Digimon, then we can take it. We can beat up any monster that's not a Digimon!"

"Why, I bet if we ran into it right now, it would be scared of us!" Apple Bloom's words sent the entire group into a laughing fit. However, it was cut off when Fluttershy showed up in front of them.

"No, you don't understand! Cockatrice are dangerous! If you look one in the eye you'll-"

However, before the could finish, Elizabeak ran out of a nearby bush and into the distance. Sweeite Bell shouted, "The chicken!" and all three were off. They ignored Fluttershy and Lucey's cries to stop, chasing after the chicken without a care in the world. Eventually, it dove into a bush where they cornered it...but as they approached they noticed something strange.

"Two chickens?" Sweetie Bell said, seeing that there were two chicken heads poking out of the bush.

"I thought there was only one?" Scootaloo said, confused.

"Grab them both!" Apple Bloom shouted before trying to grab one, only for the chicken to dash away from her and the bush. Scootaloo ran in after the other one...but soon realized her mistake. Fear overcoming her, she backed away as the head rose out of the bush, revealing a dark green snake-like body with similar, bat like wings. The fillies all watched in fear, while the Baby Digimon hopped down ready for a fight.

Once the Cockatrice revealed it's full form in the light of the moon, it crowed loudly and went after the panicking Elizabeak. It opened its red eyes and stared the chicken down, quickly turning it to stone. As the now petrified Elizabeak hit the earth, the Cockatrice turned its eyes on the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

However, while the three fillies were filled with fear, their Digimon were ready for battle. Chuckling, Lil' Gu' was the first to say, "You don't scare us, you overgrown chicken-lizard-thing! Bring it on!"

With a battle cry, the three Digimon all charged right at the Cockatrice. However, before they could even get their attacks ready, the monster opened its eyes and subjected them all to is magical gaze. All three Baby Digimon were stopped before they could get close and their bodies swiftly turned to stone. The Cockatrice smacked the stone Digimon with its tail, sending them all flying back at the CMC.

Now fully consumed by fear, they picked up their Digimon, screamed, and ran as fast as their little hooves could take them. Unfortunately, that wasn't very far as they had underestimated the weight of their now stone Digimon. The weight threw off their balance sending them falling down in a heap. Fluttershy and Lucey arrived, the former trying to calm them down. But the girls just kept running around and screaming their lungs out. Lucey kept an eye on where the girls had come from. Soon enough, the Cockatrice appeared from within a bush. It rounded on them with its eyes still wide open. Lucey closed his eyes then said, "Fluttershy! It's here!"

Fluttershy closed and covered her eyes, yelling as loud as she dared, "Girls, behind us, now!"

That got through to the three fillies and they soon all ran to hide behind Fluttershy. The Cockatrice approached, flapping its wings while getting as close as it could to the group. Fluttershy kept her eyes closed for a few moments, trying to think of what to do. Then she opened up one of her eyes and saw how scared the CMC looked. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Bell were hiding behind Scootaloo, who looked like her legs would give out at any moment. Around them were the petrified bodies of their Baby Digimon, their mouths open wide in shock.

Seeing that finally brought out the courage she needed.

"Lucey...I'm going to do something crazy. Can you help me?"

"I think I know what you're going to do, Fluttershy. And I have my own idea. One based on a hunch. If you would humor me, climb onto my back. Quickly now."

Though she wasn't sure what he meant, Fluttershy choice to trust Lucey. She flapped her wings and climbed onto his back, resting her chin on his shoulder. Once she was there, Lucey told her, "Now, on the count of three, we both open our eyes and stare this creature down. Ready?"

"Ready."

"One...two...three!"

In a flash, Lucey opened his eyes and charged forward. He grabbed the Cockatrice around its throat, cutting off its latest crow, before unfurling his wings. He soared into the sky while he and Fluttershy kept their eyes locked onto the monster. He only stopped once they were right at the edge of the canopy, where the CMC could still see them but the Cockatrice couldn't see the fillies.

"You!" Fluttershy began, her voice loud and angry at the monster.

"Just who do you think you are?!" Lucey continued, his own anger coming across much clearer than Fluttershy's, "Going around turning other's into stone?!"

The Cockatrice, not intimidated in the slightest, focused its power onto Lucey. The Digimon's skin began turning to stone, starting with the hand he was holding the Cockatrice with and crawling up his body. But when it reached his elbow, Lucey raised his other hand and said, "Cute."

With a single snap the stone on his arm shattered, leaving it looking good as new. The Cockatrice's eyes widened in shock and fear but things only got worse for it. Lucey pulled it closer to force it to stare into Fluttershy's eyes as she continued her admonishments, "You should be ashamed of yourself! I'd half the mind to find your mother and tell her what you've up to tonight!"

"Or better yet, find your father!" Lucey backed her up, the Cockatrice beginning to sweat, "I'd bet he'd like to have a very fruitful conversation with you!"

"Now you go back," the two began to say in unison, "and turn Twilight, Elizabeak, and those three Digimon, back to normal! And don't ever let us catch you doing this again!"

Lucey had pulled the Cockatrice so close, that his nose was pressing into the monster's beak. It had folded backwards, sweat dripping off it in waves while its eyes were filled with naught but fear. The Tamer and her Digimon said four last words to end it off; "Do you understand us?"

The Cockatrice closed its eyes and nodded. Only then did Lucey let it go, the creature quickly flying away while below them all those who were turned to stone were soon back to normal.

"...and that's when it brought you back from stone," Fluttershy said to a no longer petrified Twilight Sparkle. The two were sitting at a table outside of Fluttershy's cottage, while the Cutie Mark Crusaders played around with their Digimon.

As the two mares caught up, their Digimon were standing across from where the CMC were playing with their, still Baby Stage, Digimon. Cornelius looked up at Lucey and said, "I now owe you twice, Lucey. The first time was when you came to help me with Twilight, and now when you've saved both of us."

"Oh, it was nothing. Just helping my friends, like Fluttershy taught me," he said, smiling at the three fillies as they tried to keep up with their Baby Digimon. Lucey put a hand on his chin and hummed in thought, "Hmm, Cornelius? Do you think we're different from other Digimon?"

"I'd say so. But what, specifically, do you mean?"

"Well, for one thing, you all evolved after you ate something or met your Tamers. But the Cutie Mark Crusader's Digimon have already been fed, and they haven't evolved yet. Why do you suppose that is?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe the stimulus to reach your Rookie Stage is different for each Digimon? Or maybe it's because of how young their Tamers are?" Cornelius rubbed his head and sighed, "I'm not sure. But what I wish to know is, how did you dispel the Cockatrice's power? You said you just...snapped your fingers and it stopped? How?"

Lucey shrugged, "I'm not sure myself. While I was holding it something inside of me just...told me it wouldn't work on me. That I could...cancel it out. So, I did. And it's not the only strange thing. When Twilight and Elizabeak looked at the Cockatrice, they turned completely to stone within moments. But you looked at it, and only your legs got turned to stone. How?"

"...Touche," Cornelius stated before shaking his head, "More and more questions. If only our memories of the Digital World were intact. Maybe we would get some clarity then."

"Maybe. But, being honest, I'm not that worried," Lucey smiled and took to the air, "If whatever makes me different helps me protect Fluttershy, then I don't care where it comes from. Now, would you like me to get you some teacakes?"

"...I'd like that, yes," Cornelius said, smiling as he followed after Lucey.

FINALLY! Sorry it took so long.

Some of you have likely noticed that the images and links I put up for some of the Digimon in the previous chapters are broken. That's cause I used Wikimon, which is a much more accurate Digimon Wiki than the Fandom Wiki. However, it's servers are notoriously out of date and go down a lot. So, I'm thinking of maybe shifting them depending on how things go.

Next time, we're getting the Dogs...and a scene I've been looking forward to writing.

Hope you all enjoy!

Chapter 17: A Dog, Pony, and Digimon Show New
Ampurely let out a yawn as she felt the warmth of Celestia's sun on her fur. She stretched her body across one of Carousel Boutique's windowsills. A low rumbling pur left her throat as she slowly turned over onto her back. Using her ribbons as makeshift pillows, the Meicoomon turned her head towards the window. Outside, Ponyville looked as peaceful and idyllic as ever. Ponies were going about their busy days, fillies and foals were playing, and the warm sun above shined down upon it all.

Though, while it was a soothing sight, Ampurely had another reason for staring out the window; Looking for her Tamer.

A rather famous pony had stopped by the Boutique today; Sapphire Shores, the "Pony of Pop. She had read about Rarity's designs and wanted to get new costumes for an upcoming tour. Which wouldn't have been too much of a hassle. Ampurely and Rarity had already made plenty of dresses that would've worked wonders for her. There was just one issue; Sapphire Shores didn't just want any dress.

She wanted the one that Rarity had just finished. A flashy suit heavily bejeweled with diamonds.

...Along with five more just like it.

Each one with a different type of jewel on it.

So, Rarity had to go gather more gems to fulfill the order. Thus she had set out today to get some from a nearby quarry. Ampurely would've gone with her, but Rarity insisted she stay behind today. Partially because Rarity could "take care of herself" and partially because Ampurely still needed to finish her gift for Babs.

The thought of Spike's Digimon made Ampurely's chest tighten. She had been working on his gift for most of the day, but had stopped when she felt she needed a break. It was coming along nicely. She had finished the body and had already started on the wings. But, what was taking so long was...she wanted it to be perfect. Babs deserved the best gift she could possibly make. Not something that was simply "good enough" or "passable". So, as much as she hated to admit it, she had gone back to the drawing board a few times.

...Like two or three.

One thing that gave Ampurely some solace was knowing that Rarity didn't go alone. She had Spike with her. Granted, she had wished that Spike had taken his Digimon with them, but he was convinced that doing so would "ruin their date". She'd be upset about that, if she hadn't done something similar with Loo. Though at least the three of them could handle themselves if something went wrong. Spike on the other hand...well...

Shaking her head, turned around and looked back at the main floor of the Boutique. Without Rarity, the building was eerily silent. Save for the gentle snoring of Opal on her bed, and the sound of Sweetie Bell playing with her Digimon, Fluffykins, upstairs. Ampurely lifted her head towards the ceiling, her ears picking up the sounds of Sweetie Bell and her Bosamon playing around. She couldn't hear them breaking anything, so she assumed they were doing fine and laid her head down. When she first met Fluffykins, she had two separate reactions. Inwardly, she was happy that one of the Digimon they had defeated had finally reincarnated. Even if they were bad guys, she thought they should be given a second chance to live a better life. And that's what Fluffykins was. Another chance for one of them. Besides, it would be nice to have another Digimon that she could speak to regularly.

Outwardly?

She had picked him up and started grooming him. He was positively filthy when Sweeite Bell came home with him. There was no way she was going to let him stay here without a good cleaning. Surprisingly, he was rather calm about the whole idea. Didn't even complain when Ampurely brought him to the bath tub and started scrubbing him. He even gave her directions on how to avoid his eyes and how to best clean his ears. By the time she was done, his fur was positively glistening. Perfect as a companion for Sweetie Bell.

Outside of that...

"Hey, Ampurely!" Ampurely lifted her head up at the sound of Sweetie Bell's voice. She saw the unicorn filly galloping down the stairs. On her back sat Fluffykins, the Digimon's ears folded back from how fast his Tamer was moving. Sweetie stopped near the window, sat down on her haunches, then lifted her Bosamon up so Ampurely could see him clearly, "Look! Look! Fluffykins learned a new trick! Show her, Fluffy!"

"If you could please keep your eyes on my ears," Fluffykins said, lifting said ears up to get everypony's attention. Ampurely placed one of her paws on her head, propping herself up on her elbow. Once he had her attention, Fluffykins proceeded to twirl his ears together. He quickly entwined them into a spiral that sat above his head. His little body shook as he strained to keep his ears like that. He spoke with a quavering voice, "Sweetie...now!"

Sweetie Bell tossed her Digimon up into the air. He didn't go far, but it was far enough to get him into the air. At which point, he released his hold on his ears, letting them unwind so fast they began to spin. They span in a circle, the lift created keeping Fluffykins airborne....for a few seconds.

But his ears were not as long nor wide as Cornelius'.

They very quickly came undone, along with all the lift he had generated. So, he began to fall towards the floor. Ampurely's other paw shot out and grabbed him by his ears before he could hit the floor. Holding him like a tied up bag, she brought him close to her face and raised an eyebrow at him.

"I have yet to solve the issue of running out of speed and lift. Looks like it's back to the drawing board, Sweetie," he said, leaping out of the Ampurely's grip and landing on Sweetie Bell's back. Once he was settled, he asked, "Still, what did you think, Ampurely? Was it satisfactory to behold?"

Ampurely nodded, using her ribbons to form a smile to show that she did enjoy it. Sweetie Bell and Fluffykins shared smiles, before the filly trotted up the stairs, giggling the whole way. Ampurely laid back down smiling as she turned on her side to look out the window....

...which is how she saw Babs flying towards the Boutique in his Dracomon X form.

Falling off the window in shock and surprise, Ampurely rushed off towards the downstairs bathroom. She quickly washed her fur, smoothed out her claws, brushed her ribbons, and made sure her fangs were sharp enough to look cute but not threatening. Only when she was confident that everything was in order, did she dash out of the bathroom and to the entrance door. Taking a deep breath to steel her nerves, she pulled the door open and smiled up at her friend. She was about to ask what he was doing here, when he landed right in front of the Boutique and shouted, "Ampurely! Trouble!"

Ampurely was immediately on guard as she stepped outside and tilted her head in confusion.

"Spike came back! No Rarity! She's in trouble!"

That was all Ampurely needed to hear.

Without hesitation, she jumped onto Babs back and gestured for him to take her to the rest of their friends. Babs agreed, taking the sky and flying off to gather everypony.

All the while, Ampurely silently hoped that Rarity would be alright.

The sound of hooves thundering down through the rocky valley heralded the arrival of Twilight and her friends. Alongside them was the sound of their Digimon rushing across the ground. On Twilight's back sat Spike, the baby dragon hyperventilating into a paper bag to calm himself down. The only other noteworthy sight was Ampurely on Babs' back as the Dracomon X flew alongside Lucey and Rainbow Dash. The Meicoomon's eyes were locked on the path in front of them, her face contorted into an expression of anger and worry.

"Spike, can you breathe now?" Twilight asked the baby dragon.

Taking one last breath, Spike took the bag away from his muzzle and answered, "Yes, I think so."

"Good, now tell us what you know."

"Yeah," Rainbow Dash said as she flew down in front of Spike, "because all you said earlier was 'Rarity! Woods! Jewels! Dogs! Gone! Taken! Save her!'"

"Not a whole lot to go on there, sport," AJ said while they continued their gallop.

"Enough to know something's wrong," Squirt said, managing to keep up despite running on two legs. Cutey was hanging off his back, with him holding her legs while she held onto his head. He looked over at AJ and said, "And that Rarity's in trouble."

"Exactly! Rarity and I were in the woods looking for jewels, when these creepy guys showed up!" Spike explained.

"Creepy guys?" Twilight repeated, confused.

"They called themselves the Diamond Dogs. They grabbed Rarity and disappeared down a hole in the ground!"

AJ chuckled, "Well this sounds mighty easy. Just take us to that there hole and we'll save Rarity!"

"I don't think it'll be that easy, Applejack," Big Loo said, currently in his Rookie form as he ran alongside his tamer, "I would assume our foes are not stupid enough to leave only one hole that can easily be tracked. They would likely-"

He was interrupted as all the ponies and Digimon suddenly gasped as they reached the quarry where Spike and Rarity once were...

...and saw an entire field of holes dug into the dirt ground.

"-create more to throw off their trail," Loo finished as they all came to an abrupt stop.

"Holy moley that's a lot of holies!" Pinkie stated what all the ponies and Digimon were likely thinking.

Cutey hopped off Squirt's back and put a hand over her eyes. She started to silently count the holes before shaking her head and shrugging, "No kidding. This might take a while."

"Come on girls, lets get-" Twilight was cut off when an orange blur sped right passed her and onto the earth. They saw Babs fall to the ground, shaking his head as if he had been knocked out of the sky. It didn't take long for them figure out what had happened. Twilight looked around with worry, "Ampurely?! Where did you go?"

"AAAAHH! Let go! Let go!"

All the ponies and Digimon looked up to see Ampurely's feet sticking out of one of the holes. Her claws were plunged into the earth as her upper half started to pull something out of the hole. A rough, high pitched voice followed her torso out of the hole, revealing a bipedal canine creature held within Ampurley's grip. Her ribbons were locked around its torso while her paws were pulling on its face. From a certain angle, it looked like her claws had turned red and were piercing through the earth.

The creature certainly looked like a dog. Its body was covered in shaggy, black fur. On its neck was a collar with a single ruby placed into the center. One of its front paws was pulling at Ampurely's ribbons, while the other was trying to pry her paws off its face. However, no matter how hard it pulled, it couldn't get her to let go. Meanwhile, Ampurely was pulling it further and further out of the hole.

"Is that one of those Diamond Dogs you were talking about, Spike?" Cutey asked, pointing at the spectacle in front of them.

Spike nodded furiously, "Yeah, but it's not one of the guys who took Rarity."

"Maybe, but look at Ampurely go! Come on, let's go help her out!" Squirt shouted, leaping off the cliff they were on and sliding down the sandy edge. The others quickly followed suit, all heading towards Ampurely and her captive. Eventually, Ampurely managed to drag the Diamond Dog completely out of its hole and out into the open. The two fell back, Ampurely releasing the canine creature and rolling to her paws.

The Diamond Dog shook its head then glared at her, "Stupid cat thing! Will make pay for...ggaaaah!"

The creature's anger was immediately replaced by fear as Twilight, her friends, and their Digimon all moved to stand behind Ampurely. Squirt, an evil grin on his face, stepped forward and started punching his palm, "Well, well, well. Hey, there buddy. We've got some questions for you."

"And I would suggest," Cornelius stepped forward, forming one of his ears into a fist and punching the other one with it, "you answer truthfully."

"Eeek!" the Diamond Dog whined, flipping around and scrambling its way towards the hole Ampurely had pulled it out of. Everypony made to chase the retreating dog, but Ampurely held up her ribbons to stop them.

Squirt ran right into one of the ribbons and fell on his butt. Shaking his head, he glared at Ampurely, "Hey! What are you doing?! He's getting away!"

Ampurely didn't respond. She remained silent and waited for the Diamond Dog to reach the hole. Only when it dove back inside, digging its way down, did Ampurely lower her ribbons and run after it. Leaping over the edge, she fell feet first into the hole. Cornelius snapped his claws and said, "Of course! She's letting him lead her down. He won't risk closing up the hole while he's still in it, and she can follow him to where Rarity is."

"Then why are we standing around?! Follow that cat and dog!" Rainbow Dash shouted, flying forward and diving into the hole. Squirt called for her to wait for him, leaping into the hole after his Tamer. Twilight used her magic to hold Spike and Cornelius aloft while she dove into the hole as well, carrying the baby dragon and Lopmon X with her.

"After you," Loo waved for AJ to go before him.

"Much obliged, pardner," she tipped her hat to him, before shouting "Yeehaw!" as she dove into the hole. Loo followed after her a second later, taking a moment to dig and make the hole a bit bigger.

"Oh, I don't know about this," Fluttershy stood at the edge of the hole, staring into the darkness with fear in her eyes. She started backing up, until she felt two familiar arms wrap around her barrel.

Lucey picked her up and smiled down at her, "Please, allow me."

Lucey fearlessly stepped into the hole, letting himself and Fluttershy fall in while holding his wings behind his back. Lastly, Pinkie hopped into the hole with Cutey holding onto her back. With a "Weeeee!" the two joined their friends in the hole heading into the Diamond Dog's home.

Going down the hole proved to be a rough ride for most of the ponies. Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Spike were all sliding down the tunnel on their haunches with no control whatsoever. Their Digimon, by contrast, were doing just fine. Cornelius, Loo, Squirt, and Babs were all controlling their falls, keeping at the front of the line to stop any of the bigger rocks or clumps of dirt from hitting their Tamers. Behind them was Lucey, laying on his back with his wings folded over his chest to keep Fluttershy safe. She kept fussing over him, worrying about him getting hurt or dirty. He would just smile and pat her on the head. At the very back of group were Pinkie and Cutey, both cheering with glee as they slid down the tunnel on their bellies.

And, at the very front, was Ampurely sliding down the tunnel. Her eyes were completely focused on the path ahead. Unlike the others, she was on her feet, using her ribbons to speed her along or move obstacles out of the way. Said ribbons seemed to be leaking black cubes of some kind, but they would only appear for a moment before disappearing. Her keen feline eyes were firmly locked on the retreating Diamond Dog ahead. Said Diamond Dog looked behind him, yelped in fear, then started digging downward. He created a new hole that Ampurely went straight down without hesitation. The others followed, either on their own or unwillingly falling into the hole.

On and on their path went, sometimes flying over large gaps in between entrances, revealing a wide network of caves around them. Most of it was simply them sliding down a winding path of a cave, but even that left them disoriented with how much they were moving. Eventually, their slide came to an end when the Diamond Dog finally jumped out of the tunnel, whining as it landed on solid ground and ran off into the cave system. Ampurely landed in a crouch before immediately shooting up and looking at their surroundings. The normal cross patterns in her eyes had turned sideways, forming an "X" within her pupils. The change went unnoticed as her eyes darted faster than anypony could track.

Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Spike all fell out right alongside their Digimon. They all landed in a pile, grunting as they hit the floor. Lucey gracefully hovered down as he flapped his wings, gingerly touching the ground with his toes, before gently placing Fluttershy down. She continued to fuss over him, carefully picking dirt and rocks out of his wings, before going to check on her other friends. Pinkie and Cutey came out last, bouncing as they hit the pile of bodies that were their friends.

"That was fun!" Pinkie giggled while her and Cutey hopped out of the pile.

"Let's do it again!" Cutey agreed, arms up in the air as if she just gotten off a fun amusement park ride.

"Urgh, at least we made it," Twilight shook her body to get the rocks and dust off her. She took a moment to look at their surroundings and asked, "But where are we?"

"Seems like they have an entire cave system down here. Those holes are likely tunnels," Cornelius said, pointing at one of the tunnels directly above them, "The Diamond Dogs likely took Rarity deeper in."

"But there are so many tunnels! How are we supposed to-" before Spike could finish, everypony heard the sound of shuffling nearby. Looking towards Ampurely, they saw the Meicoomon on all fours with her nose against the dirt. She lifts her head while still sniffing, her mane looking much scruffier and with more pointed ends, before she turned toward one of the tunnels. She lifted one of her ribbons and waved it in the direction of the tunnel while bounding down the pathway.

"I think she has Rarity's scent," Loo said, sniffing the air before turning in Ampurely's direction, "And now, so do I. Follow us!"

"Ya'll heard 'im girls! Move 'em out!" AJ shouted as they all galloped after Loo and Ampurely. Spike climbed onto Twilight's back, eyes forward as he kept a look out for any hint of Rarity. The Digimon all remained close by their Tamers, eyes and ears on the look out for anything out of sorts. Ampurely kept her place at the front of the pack with Loo close behind her. She would rush down one pathway, halt, sniff the air, then either keep going or head into a different tunnel system.

As they rounded another corner, Squirt's head whipped all around as he tried to spot any threats. When none came into view he spoke up, "Is it just me, or has anypony else noticed how we're having an easy time running through these guys home?"

"It's not just you," Lucey said, eyes forward as he answered, "You'd think there would be guards around to intercept us."

"M-M-Maybe Ampurely scared that Diamond Dog so bad, that he told them to all run off, get Rarity and give her back," Fluttershy stated, hope in her voice.

"Yeah, right. Doubt it'll be that easy," Rainbow Dash disagreed, "Though I do think they ran away. But only cause they're too scared of our awesomeness to try to stop us."

"Whatever the case," Cornelius interrupted, ears dragging along the floor behind him as he ran, "we must find Rarity. There's no telling what the Diamond Dogs are doing to her."

As if on cue, they all heard a sudden wail echo from deeper within the tunnels. Spike shouted, "Rarity!" and they all increased their speed. None more so than Ampurely, who nearly became an orange blur as she increased her speed. Babs called her name, but she only slowed down enough that they could barely see her. Even Loo could hardly keep up with her, barely managing to keep her in his line of sight. Her eyes were wide with panic, her fur was standing on end, and her mind kept repeating the same thing like a mantra; Please be safe, Rarity.

Eventually, they stopped at a circular room with a wall at the end. A single metal door had been built into the bottom. From within, they heard the sound of Rarity's wailing echoing into the chamber. Rainbow Dash pointed at the door and said, "She must be in there. Let's go!"

However, before they could move, five brown furred Diamond Dogs burst from the shadows around them. They were covered in metal armor, and rippling with muscles. They leaped at the ponies, aiming to land on their backs...

...only to be stopped by the Digimon.

Cornelius' ears wrapped the Dog heading for Twilight and tossed him into a wall.

Loo launched a fireball at the Dog aiming for Applejack.

Squirt and Cutey both uppercut the Dogs aiming for Pinkie and Rainbow Dash.

And Lucey hit the Dog closest to Fluttershy with six consecutive palm strikes to its arms, legs, torso, and head. Its armor shattered under the assault as it was sent to the floor.

The Diamond Dogs all yipped and yelped while running away from the ponies and their Digimon. The Digimon all glared at the Diamond Dogs until they couldn't see them anymore. Then Lucey turned to Fluttershy and gently placed his hand on her back, "Are you alright, Fluttershy?"

"I-I'm fine. Thank you, Lucey. That was scary," Fluttershy said, patting Lucey on his head. He visibly relaxed when he was certain she was alright.

"Everypony. Okay?" Babs asked, the only one to not fight as he was busy protecting Spike.

"We're a-okay thanks to you guys!" Pinkie said, hugging Cutey tightly. Her Digimon returned the hug with a smile.

"That was awesome!" RD said, patting Squirt on the back, "How'd you guys move that fast?!"

"Practice," Squirt said, smugly wiping his nose, "Ain't nothing to it."

Before they could speak more, Ampurely darted into the chamber and stopped before the metal door. She shoved her dark red claws into it, the sound of metal tearing and bending echoing through the room. With a growl of effort she ripped it off its hinges and threw it to the side. The ponies and Digimon all gasped in shock as the metal door landed with a loud clang against the stone floor. The door was completely bent with the middle glowing a bright red. The metal seemed to be melting from some kind of intense heat. Before anypony could stop her, Ampurely dashed into the room with the others lagging behind her. She moved as fast as she could with only one thought in her mind; Finding Rarity.

She soon came upon a large, cavernous chamber with multiple tunnels leading to different parts of the Diamond Dogs' home. But she didn't care about any of that. Because, as she came to a stop, she finally spotted Rarity.

With a rusty, metal harness strapped to her back.

Laying on the ground.

Crying with her face in her hooves.

And three Diamond Dogs standing nearby.

Ampurely froze.

Her heartbeat pounded in her ears like a drum.

Her pupils shrank to the size of pinpricks.

All the fur on her body stood up.

She was vaguely aware of everypony else entering the room, but the world around her slowly fell away. Until the only things left were her and the crying Rarity.

Her thoughts turned from praying that Rarity was safe, to solely focusing on the situation in front of her.

The Diamond Dogs had kidnapped Rarity.

They made her cry.

They put an ugly, rusted, filthy harness on her back.

They made her cry.

They left her on the cold, hard, dirty ground without a single blanket for her to lie on.

They. Made. Her. Cry.

Her fur grew longer and spikier. Her claws grew longer and thicker, turning a dark red color. Her ribbons turned sharper as black cubes of data began to fall from the tips.

As the transformation completed, something inside her finally snapped.

"What are ya'll doing to Rarity, you dirty varmints?!" Applejack yelled, snorting while digging a hoof into the dirt, "And ya'll better answer me! Or it's gonna get rough in here."

"I agree," growled Loo, fangs barred as he slowly advanced on the Diamond Dogs.

"W-We did nothing!" one of them, a tall, lanky one with a red shirt embossed with gems, said, his arms up and waving back and forth. Huddled next to him were a smaller, light brown one with a dark brown shirt, and a bigger, light blue one with similar clothes to the brown one. All wore collars with diamonds inlaid along their lengths.

The small brown one spoke up, "Y-Yeah! We-We did nothing!"

"We just wanted pony to find gems and pull cart," the bigger one said, pointing to said cart filled with gems.

"You were what?!" Rainbow Dash zoomed over to the Dogs, causing them to crouch in fear as she glared at them, "You tried to make Rarity haul a cart? Rarity of all ponies? What's wrong with you guys?!"

"Maybe we'll find out if we hit them on the head a few times," Squirt said, pounding his fists together, "I'll start."

"No!" Spike leapt off Twilight's back and in front of Squirt...before turning around, fire coming out of his snout. His eyes were ablaze with anger as he started marching forward, "Let me have first shot-"

"Oi, dumb mutts."

The sudden voice sent shivers up everypony's spine. Spike came to a halt, his body shaking like a leaf in the wind. Fluttershy hid behind Lucey who was crouched and on guard. Twilight, Pinkie, and their Digimon audibly swallowed while slowly turning their heads towards the source.

Ampurely was standing tall but her body had undergone a sudden transformation. Where before her ribbons were soft and comfy looking, they now had sharp edges that leaked black cubes of data. Her claws had elongated into serrated, glowing red blades that were as long as a pony's front leg. Ever inch of her fur was standing up, bristled and sharper than normal. Her mane had similarly puffed up and now completely covered her neck. Her ears had grown and were pointed towards the ceiling. Her eyes were still green, but the crosses in them had turned into "X"s.

The worst part for those in attendance, was her voice.

It was deep, angry, and reverberated with malice. All of it directed at the cowering Diamond Dogs.

"What did you do Rarity!?" she growled stomping her feet as she marched towards the Diamond Dogs.

"Ampurely?" Babs called, but even his voice went ignored as she pushed passed him. He stared at her back with his mouth agape as she got closer to the Diamond Dogs.

"Rarity," Ampurely began, stomping forward without taking her eyes off the Diamond Dogs, "is one of the kindest, most generous, most beautiful ponies in all of Equestria. So much so, she was chosen as an Element of Harmony."

"Y-Y-Yes! E-Exactly!" the seeming leader of the Diamond Dogs squeaked. Him and his subordinates forced smiles while nodding their heads, "W-W-We were just saying that to pony! How she-"

"Shut it!" Meicoomon roared, loud enough that even Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Squirt, and Loo all backed away from her. The Diamond Dogs cowered even further, seemingly trying to melt into the floor to escape from Meicoomon's wrath, "All Rarity ever does is make dresses for everypony."

She stomped the ground hard enough to make it crack.

"She gives it her all every single day."

Another stomp, another crack.

"Every. Single. Dress. Given her full effort. Each one made to be better than the last."

Stomp. Crack.

"And you....you mangy mutts dared to touch her with your filthy paws. Had the gall to drag her through the mud and dirt to this disgusting little hovel you call a home. Had the nerve to put a rusted, ugly harness on her back. And...above all else...

Ampurely stopped as her shadow fell over the Diamond Dogs. They whimpered in fear as she raised her right paw, extending her claws as her mind filled with ways to make them pay. "...you made such a wonderful mare cry. You-You-YOU-!!!"

Fearing what Ampurely was about to do, Loo, Squirt, and Babs all moved to stop her. However...

"WWWAAAAAAAA!" Rarity's wail pierced through the tense atmosphere. Everypony paused as Ampurely's head whipped over to see her Tamer still crying on the ground. All of her anger suddenly disappeared as she dashed to Rarity's side. Thoughts of punishing the Diamond Dogs fell to the wayside. As did any thoughts of retribution, fury, or destruction. All that was there was a singular desire: Help Rarity.

Her evolution disappeared as suddenly as it had appeared, her body returning to normal in an instant as she bounded over to her Tamer, screaming, "Rarity!"

Kneeling next to her Tamer, she tossed the harness of her then gently placed her paws on her back, "What happened?! What did those horrible mongrels say to you?!"

"Th-They-They c-c-called me a-a-a mmuuullleee!" she wailed, placing her face against her front legs, tears staining her fur.

"They did what?!?" Ampurely whipped her gaze over to the Diamond Dogs. Her eyes were filled with so much anger, that the Dogs yelped and hid behind Applejack, hoping that the cowpony would protect them. Applejack tried to step away, but the Dogs continued to follow her. Ampurely growled at them before looking at the rest of her friends, "Everypony! I need you all to do exactly as I say. No questions asked. Cornelius, Babs, Spike, over here!"

"Wh-"

"Do it!" Ampurely's yell shut down whatever Cornelius was going to say. He and the two dragons quickly ran to Ampurely's side. She grabbed Cornelius and Spike's hands and placed them on Rarity's back, "You two massage Rartiy. Clockwise only. Not too rough or you'll muss up her fur. Not too soft or she won't feel it."

"How does that-"

"We're on it!" Spike interrupted, following Ampurely's instructions to the letter. Cornelius watched the baby dragon in awe before trying to copy him.

Ampurely turned to the other dragon, "Babs, you flap your wings. Use them to fan Rarity. Don't go too fast or you'll mess up her mane."

"I. Fan. Got. It," Babs lifted his wings and started to wave them back and forth. A soft, cool breeze was created and gently blew across Rarity's face. By this point she had moved from crying to sobbing, her eyes still against her hooves.

Patting Babs on the back, Ampurely turned to the Diamond Dogs. Glaring at them, she pointed one of her ribbons their way and said, "You three! Go find the rest of your carts with gems. Now."

"Y-Yes! We-We will apologize to wonderful pretty pony! Will get more gems!" the lead Diamond Dog said, the other two nodding in unison.

Ampurely rolled her eyes then pointed at AJ, RD, Squirt, and Loo, "You four make sure they actually do it. And that they don't run off."

"Riiiggghtt," Rainbow Dash said, landing on the ground next to Squirt. She leaned close to her Digimon and whispered, "What's was that all about? With the red claws and all that?"

"I don't know," Squirt whispered back as they walked towards the Diamond Dogs. He glanced over his shoulder at Ampurely then audibly gulped, "Don't want to find out."

Ampurely ignored him and turned to Fluttershy and Lucey, "Lucey! Rip off a piece of your toga and give it to Fluttershy. Fluttershy, use it to dry Rarity's tears."

"O-O-Okay. Um, Lucey? Do you mind...?" Fluttershy turned to her Digmon who shrugged and quickly tore off a lower part of his toga. He handed it to Fluttershy who thanked him and hovered over to Rarity's side. She gently lifted her friend's head and started dabbing at her tear stricken eyes, "There, there, Rarity. It's okay. Forget what those mean old dogs said, okay."

Rarity sniffled, but was starting to return to normal. Relief growing within her chest, Ampurely looked over at Twilight, Pinkie, and Cutey. She pointed at each of them then at the cart full of gems, "Twilight, get those gems and put them in Pinkie's mane. Pinkie, Cutey, you two are on carrying duty. Keep those gems safe until we get to the surface."

"Why are we doing that?" Twilight asked, her horn lighting up and bringing the gems over to Pinkie. Cutey grabbed any that got close and shoved them into Pinkie's mane. The Party Pony giggled and laughed as the gems entered her mane.

"Compensation for emotional damage," Ampurely answered before turning back to Rarity. Leaning forward the began to whisper into her Tamer's ear, "It's alright, Rarity. They don't know what they're talking about. You're more beautiful than any mule in Equestria. Yours is a radiance that shines like a star in the night sky. Both inside and outside."

"Re-Really? You-You really think so?" Rarity asked, pressing her head against Ampurely.

"I know so."

"Y-You're not just saying that?"

"What reason would I have to do that? I would never lie about something like that."

Rarity sniffled before suddenly perking up. She reached over and hugged her Digimon while lightly kissing Ampurely's fur, "Oh, Ampurely! Thank you so much. You're the best Digimon a mare could ask for."

Ampurely's response was to wrap her ribbons around Rarity's body. Relief washed over her at the fact that her Tamer was back to normal. Their friends all sighed in relief, with Spike wiping sweat off his brow with the back of his claw. For a time, it seemed that everything was calming down.

However...

"EEEEKKK!"

The sound made all the ponies and Digimon jump. Looking around, they spotted the three Diamond Dogs from earlier running out of the cave they had gone into to get the minecarts. They tripped over each other, but didn't stop retreating into a different tunnel. The entire time they were screaming, "Dragon! Big! After gems! Run!"

"Dragon?" Twilight said, leaning over to try to see into the cave the Diamond Dogs had come out of. The darkness of the cave prevented her from seeing very far. So, she lit up her horn and used it as a light source. Poking her head inside she scanned around the entrance before speaking up, "I don't see anything. Maybe they were-"

She went silent when her horn illuminated a big, green, reptilian face. The face snorted, the air from its nose blowing Twilight back. She yelped while rolling on the ground and eventually landing on her rump. Stars filled her vision as she sat up to get her bearings. As Cornelius came over to check on her, the sound of massive footsteps echoed through the cave. All the Digimon got near their ponies and stood ready for battle. From within the cave a large, green, scaly body emerged and stood to its full height. As it did, everypony got a good look at the dragon that had spooked the Diamond Dogs. Which is why they all quickly gasped.

Cornelius put what they were all thinking into words, "That...that's not a normal dragon. That's a-"

"-Coredramon," Babs said, walking over with Spike as Ampurely helped Rarity to her feet. He looked up at the new Digimon and said, "But...green."

He was correct. Before them stood a Coredramon that looked identical to Babs' Champion form, save for a few key differences. Outside of the green colored scales, this Coredramon's wings were less developed than Babs'. They looked almost vestigial and clearly couldn't support the Digimon's weight if it were to try to fly. In contrast, its front claws looked bigger and stronger. The muscles in its arms bulged whenever it flexed its claws. Its eyes scanned the gathered ponies and Digimon, before it seemed to realize something. It lowered the guarded stance it was in, before dusting off its knees, kneeling down and sitting on them. It placed its claws on its thighs before clearing its throat. It...His voice was gruff but carried a softness to it, "Other dragons? And one is a Digimon? I thought I was the only one down here."

"Uh, hi?" Spike swallowed, nervous at the sight of such a big dragon, "I-I'm actually a baby dragon. My name's Spike. This is my Digimon partner, Babs. He's a Dracomon X."

Babs stepped forward and waved his wing at the other Coredramon, "Hello. You. Coredramon?"

"Yes," the newcomer nodded.

"Cool. I. Turn. Into. When. Evolving. But. I. Blue."

"A divergent evolution to be sure. Not uncommon, especially among dragon type Digimon."

"There's more dragon Digimon?" Twilight asked, sounding curious.

The green Coredramon smiled, "Oh, plenty. Enough that you could say we're some of the main species of Digimon in the Digital World. I would explain more, but I'm afraid my memory is not what is once was. Something seems to have happened when I came through to this world."

"Came through?" Cornelius spoke up, catching the green Coredramon's attention, "Do you mean, through a Digital Gate?"

The newcomer nodded, "Yes. I would assume you all did the same, did you not?"

"None of us know. We've been trying to find that out. Do you know where your Digital gate is?" Twilight asked, curiosity getting the best of her.

But the Digimon shook his head, "Sadly, no. The memory of its location has been lost along with many others."

All the ponies and Digimon lowered their heads in disappointment.

"However," they all looked back up at the Digimon, "I do remember how to open it."

Finally got this finished. Sorry it took so long. Been wanting to write that Meicoomon Scene. Maybe some of you can guess where it's from. Again, thanks to AllenVth, my Beta Reader, for all the help. Next chapter we'll continue where we left off, and we'll see if the next focus is on another episode, or something new. Hope you all enjoy!
