Are there tags that operate as modifiers? If so it might be useful to create a tag called All Media Types to be used with franchises with more than one medium such as anime/animated series manga/comics, books/light novels, TV/Movies or a large amount of spinoffs, au's and alt timelines etc. such as Gundam or fate to make tags that seperate them by timeline or universe ie Gundam (Universal Century) or Fate (Kaleid Liner).

It would be useful to have it open with a concise 'why tags are useful' (rather than just the word 'optional', as it is now, which isn't exactly a winning pitch), and some framework to work with when picking tags. This thread has the Canonised tags for specific elements, updating and somewhat curated. You can find a longer list here, how the tag system works here, and all Synonym groups here. The tags you use and number thereof are at your discretion, but you have 30 slots you can fill.

If you're unsure of which tags you should use, I'd advise tagging the elements included in your story that you'd want tagged, as a reader. Looking through the lists below should hopefully help provide ideas, but if you've included something that's quite niche or hard to find, and you want more of it, I encourage tagging that too. Hopefully use encourages use, and search will become more useful for you and likeminded.

The Longer Tag List is unfortunately not mindless, as I have to separate the tags into the different categories, and within those categories I'll roughly group them by topic, and topics roughly sorted by use count. People searching for one would be quite annoyed to find the other.

it's not exactly a script.
When I arrived here, it was to try to share a solo RPG transcription. It's a tough sell, for a lot of reasons that don't matter here.
And I had never come here before, so I felt like a stranger who had no knowledge of local habits.

So I decided that the least I could do was to be careful with the preparation, that included tags.
And I asked for them and received a huge list. I iterated on it with AI and found tags for my rpg that I was happy with.

But it also left me with an AI that had analysed QQ tags
So I just kept talking from time to time to that AI chat, when things pop up here (for example, it updates my local Excel file with the annotated tags, so if two of my tags got merged, I know I can pick a new one because the duplicate gave me back an available slot)

So I "just" used that preloaded context and gave it the instructions provided by LurkingInTheDeceit and the AI did the heavy lifting

For example, when I read your answer, I gave it to the same context, with instructions to challenge it, and to take what it agreed with, edit my post (so LurkingInTheDeceit doesn't have two posts to merge) but to add clear comments and not to post it. Because I wanted to review it myself before.

So long story short, I'm not bad at working with AI and anyway it has a much better comprehension of those tags than me (I'm a native French speaker, I don't even know the English vocabulary for a huge portion of those kinks)

Why we left the other three points as they were:
- huge tits / hyperbreasts: in kink vocabulary, "hyper" means sizes beyond anything realistic. We checked the 10 threads tagged hyperbreasts: 4 of them are by the same author, who uses both tags every time, but most of the others are expansion/inflation stories ("hyper sizes", "breast expansion", "cum inflation"). So the usage overlaps, but the split still matches a real niche.
- denial / edging: two different practices. Edging means bringing someone to the brink again and again, usually ending with an orgasm; denial means refusing it. AO3 also keeps them as two separate tags (Orgasm Denial and Orgasm Edging).
- eventual relationship / slow relationships in romance: the romance group already contains "eventual romance" and "slow burn romance". We also checked the 16 threads using relationship, relationships, eventual relationship or slow relationships: nearly all of them are about romance (harem, slow burn, boyfriend, vanilla sex), only two or three are unclear.

I asked for a factual check

On 609 threads using any tag from both proposed groups, sorted by the tags they actually carry:

• 377 have only breeding-group tags,
• 109 only impregnation-group tags,
• 123 have both.

The tag profiles are very close. "pregnancy" appears on 6% of breeding-only threads and 5% of impregnation-only ones, and the other common tags (harem, corruption, monster, non-con, futa) show up at similar rates.
So from the tags alone, there's no sign that impregnation is used for "pregnancy actually happens" and breeding for the kink itself.
One in four breeding threads also carries impregnation, and half of the impregnation threads also carry breeding.
