For some reason, starting either yesterday or the day before, I can't post any images here from rule34.xxx. Every time I try, either by dragging the image onto the tab or copypasting the link into {Insert Image}, it breaks on me. Help?

Maybe they decided they did not like hotlinking and blocked it? Just like Imgur decided they no longer liked being used to have its links here, there's probably not much we can do about it. Download and put on another image host?

Edit: Not that I know enough to answer for sure, but it would be my guess.

Can you give an example of an image that isn't working?

Here's one: https://rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=16553161 (NSFW)

You probably shouldn't use a NSFW image as the example especially with an unflagged link and posting the image raw on a sfw page.

I assume this isn't something that's going to go away, boorus don't want to be used as CDNs. Whether it's blocked by cloudflare or referers, I feel like the link not embedding is probably working as intended from their perspective.

Personally I've been reuploading stuff to imgchest to post here. AFAIK they respect takedown notices and auto-flag illegal content, so if you get the the image from a booru that's dnp-compliant it should be all bueno under rule 3. Some sites are more specious about actually following copyright but I believe imgchest's standard is pretty much the same as QQs.

I can comment it does show up in the reply box if you try to quote it.

But while I can understand it does need to be from there to show your exemple, DO remember to flag NSFW as such at least. This is still a SFW area.

Images inside the reply box are a direct link to the original image rather than QQ's embed. Refreshing that link inside tor browser enough times eventually found an exit which didn't get the captcha screen, and displayed the image - whereas logging into QQ and quoting the post from an IP that was getting the captcha failed to embed the image in my post editor. Since changing nothing other than the exit node was able to resolve this, I'd probably assume it's related to that.

So QQ's IP might be flagged as a bot/for abuse because it's made too many requests trying to retrieve images from the site, and it fails to download the image to serve to users in the embed.

Whether that's only on rule34.xxx or across all sites using that cloudflare captcha service to block bots remains to be seen, but considering QQ is actually a bot it probably doesn't make much difference. If I were to embed the spacebattles admin avatar (another site with a similar cloudflare situation) I get the same thing; it's broken in previews (i.e. in the post), broken in TBB from a bad exit node, but from my usual IP works both inside the reply box and if I access the link directly.

I've always had to save r34's images elsewhere before linking them. They never show otherwise.
