Original Character Do Steal: Dark Maiden Candidates 5 New
And the Fifth Dark Maiden Candidate concept, this ones a two for one:

I've done Fee Clochette, Allie Warbucks, Princess Badoura, and Talia Rosamond all in response to this prompt, but in all honesty Salem would probably have enough Maiden Candidates to fill a medium sized High-School classroom if she was taking the idea of obtaining the powers of the Maidens seriously. As such there's still room for more, and I've a duo for your consideration.

They are Bianca and Samar Straparola, inspired by the main characters of Biancabella And The Snake:

Bianca and Samar Straparola: Fraternal twin sisters with different fathers, Bianca and Samar were a surprise to their parents the Marquess and Marchioness of Zoan, a small town on what used to be the border of the Hellenic League and Mistral before they were part of the same kingdom. The couple had believed themselves to be barren after years of trying and failing to conceive a child. This misplaced assumption of total infertility lead to them being careless at a particularly wild party. The unexpected pregnancy caused the couple no small amount of panic, as there would be a huge scandal if the child wasn't Marquess Straparola's.

The couple were relieved when the twins were born and paternity tests showed that Bianca was indeed the Marquess' daughter, though it would have been easy for him to claim she was if she hadn't been. Her pale skin, sky blue eyes and golden hair all came from him and made declaring her his heir the obvious course of action.

Such tests were unnecessary on Samar, for she was a faunus whose animal trait was impossible to hide. Her green hair and golden eyes were uncommon features but not unheard of, and they contrasted nicely with the pale skin she inherited from her mother... while also matching the scales that covered her shoulders and arms. This was her non-concealable faunus trait, a pair of snake arms. That's not to say she had the arms of a snake, but rather her arms were snakes; her right hand a viper's maw and her left a cobra's hood, connected to her shoulders with a serpent's spine in lieu of regular human bones with both reaching her knees when they stretched out.

What the Marquess and Marchioness ought to do with the faunus girl was something they fretted about until she was weened. It was obvious the child would never be able to live a normal life; her serpentine mouths could never be as dexterous as normal hands robbing her of a wide variety of fine motor skills like writing, turning the page of a book, fastening buttons or tying knots. She needed someone to help take care of her, and they could afford to do so.

And so they raised Bianca and Samar together, and taught them to always support one another. Bianca would do the delicate tasks Samar could not do for herself, while Samar in turn would watch her sister's back and keep her safe. This dynamic made the sisters close in their early years and they remained inseparable as they grew up. Even their diverging educations where Bianca learned how to manage the family estate and Samar began conditioning herself to learn the art of combat did little to divide the sisters, as they both accepted that's just the way things needed to be. They would still be sharing important milestones with each other, and in the end they would be each other's greatest support.

One milestone they shared was the unlocking of their aura on their twelfth birthday. A milestone they did not share was the discovery of their semblances, as Bianca found a high quality Dust crystal while brushing her hair a little over a year later. Shocked, Bianca and Samar combed through all of the human sister's hair and discovered that dust flakes were growing from the girl's scalp and mixing together into full blown crystals in her golden locks.

This was cause for celebration, for over the course of a week Bianca would generate enough dust crystals to pay the manor's staff for six months. The family could now be much more flexible with their finances and they could start upgrading some of Zoan's infrastructure with the increased funds. News spread through town like wildfire and the common folk sang the praises of the Marquess' heir and her Crystal Crown. The sister's would later wish they and their parents had kept things under wraps.

A year after the discovery of Bianca's semblance a bandit tribe descended upon Zoan. The bandits tore down the town's walls, set fire to the people's homes and slaughtered all who opposed them. They came unto the Straparola manor and did worse there killing everyone they could find and carting Bianca off as their prize.

Samar would wake up under the wreckage of a table that had protected her from the collapsing roof of her home. She would find the bodies of her parents and weep as she struggled to burry them with arms not made to work a shovel. After that she would stumble out of the ruins of Zoan the town's sole survivor, her heart brimming with anger as she haphazardly searched for the bandit tribe's trail.

Creatures of Grimm were of course drawn to her anger but Samar would choke them to death with her coils or envenomate them with her fangs. The young girl proved herself to be a savant of combat as she took the fundamentals of the martial art she had been taught and built upon it with practical experience, adapting it to take full advantage of her serpentine limbs. Her accursed limbs also aided her in catching and consuming enough small game for her to live off the land, as her snake mouths were still connected to her human stomach allowing her to eat without the aid of the cooking she could not do.

For the next two years Samar lived as a half-wild creature doing what she could to find the people that destroyed her home. The search wasn't exactly fruitless, she found their camps a week or so after they had abandoned them on more than one occasion, but their continual escape frayed the ends of her mind. This vexing hunt came to an end when a stranger introducing himself as Hazel discovered her and offered his help.

Hazel had originally come to the area to learn how the local bandit tribe was sourcing its' Dust, and quickly put two and two together once he had learned Samar's story. Enraged on her behalf the giant of a man vowed the bandit tribe would be utterly destroyed by his hand. At first he tried to convince Samar to let him do this alone, but after her forceful insistence and an unplanned test of her combat powers he relented and included her in his plan to catch the bandits by surprise.

This plan was a success and the two of them tore through the bandits like a hot knife through butter. Soon the bandits were dead, and Samar had found her sister.

The bandits had not been kind to Bianca, having cut off her arms and gouged out her eyes so she could not escape them. Samar wished she could kill them a thousand more times for this cruelty. Hazel consoled the sisters as best he could, raising their hopes by telling them how those he served could restore Bianca's damaged body. Desperate for any good news they agreed to follow him, which is how they arrived at Evernight and met Queen Salem.

The Queen of the Grimm made good on Hazel's promise, using ancient magics to restore the girl's eyes as good as new. Bianca's arms were in turn replaced by the ministrations of Doctor Watts, as Bianca desired new hands. Powerful hands. Hands that could protect her if she were ever separated from her sister again.

And so Doctor Watts crafted her some of his most advanced combat prosthetics and Bianca began training alongside her sister. The two became a solid combat duo in part to how hyper defensive of their sister each of them had become. In fact some would say the two of them had become unhealthy clingy and codependent, each sister refusing to let the other out of her sight for any reason.

Seeing their drive to improve and protect each other Salem concluded they could be powerful assets, and offered to train them in preparation to pursue the powers of a Maiden. The twin half-sisters agreed as the words of Hazel echoed in their ears: the tragedy that befell their family and hometown was a failing of the modern system of Huntsmen and Huntresses, so to prevent further tragedy they needed to burn that system down so something better could take its' place.

Samar is the more melee focused of the two, using only the natural weapons her body provides as she seeks to perfect her own unique martial art. Her cobra arm is of the spitting variety, giving her a mid range option to blind or distract her foes. Her viper arm has the heat sensing pits of a normal viper, giving her an extra combat relevant sense to work with.

Her semblance is called Bites Twice, and allows her to alter the chemistry of her venom to provide different effects like paralysis or hemorrhaging. After significant practice Samar found she could even replicate certain medicines with her venom, and figuring out how to make new medicines out of her venom has become a favored hobby of hers.

With Samar focused on hand-to-coil combat Bianca focus more on the ranged side of combat. The combat prosthetics Doctor Watts provided can mechashift into multiple different weapons such as Dust powered energy rifles. These rifles burn through Dust quickly but that isn't exactly a problem for Bianca thanks to her semblance Crystal Crown giving her a near limitless supply of the stuff. Other configurations of her arms include Dust powered beam swords and parrying daggers for when the enemy gets close and a set of comb extensions for her fingers so she can quickly find dust crystals in her hair.

Alright so part of my thought process with these girls was to fill a gap with my previous Maiden Candidates. You see Fee partners well with Watts, Badoura partners well with Tyrian and Allie would partner well with Merlot if Salem recruited him in whatever fic you're writing. That means Hazel is the only member of Salem's inner circle who didn't have a Maiden Candidate that naturally partnered with him, so I set out to fix that with Bianca and Samar.

Now the twin half-sisters have a more sensical backstory than Hazel, meaning they're more misguided and traumatized radicals than delusional hypocrites, but this backstory means they share something narratively important with Hazel: they're the most likely Maiden Candidates to turn on Salem if they ever realize how bad the Grimm Queen winning would actually be.

Anyhow what do you guys think of this duo? Do they work as Dark Maiden candidates or no?

Pyrrha Event New
Pyrrha Event
~~~~~~
Reaction Fics, and some shorts usually write Pyrrha's Jealousy as a Murderous Burning Rage:
"How dare that bitch flirt with Jaune!"
She has no social skills, do you know how embarrassing it is to reveal your true emotions like that? She couldn't do that no matter how Mad.
That, or because she has no actual social skills, outside of her sponsor events and Fan Meets, she's more Jealous that someone is taking her time from him, because she knows he's more dense than bedrock. and has mini tantrums.
both are good.
~~~~~~

But I like to think its a more of a "Killing Intent with a Smile", as her semblance rages for her:

Ruby: "Hey Pyrrha, did you see that girl talking to Jaune early today? They look like they know each other."
Pyrrha: "Oh, Is he? That's good, I'm... Glad he has so many friends."

Nora cleared her throat.

Ruby: "Yeah, but it's kinda odd they're all girls though."
Pyrrha: "Is it Ruby? I haven't quite noticed that."

Nora lets out a cough, her corset feels a bit tighter than usual today. Must have been the pancakes earlier.

Ruby: "Oh yeah! Just the other day, these group of girls were crowding him at the comic store. I thought they were looking for books behind them, but they really were there for Jaune!"
Pyrrha:"Really? that must have been an odd sight. did they say anything about him? Perhaps they were from his hometown."
Ruby: "See I thought so too, but they kept calling him Cute and Handsome, which is like two wildly different spectrums of boy."
Pyrrha: "Were they now?"

Nora felt more of a squeeze. That is definitely not the pancakes!

Ruby: "Yeah, and then Jaune called them beautiful in turn!""
Pyrrha: "Did he now?"

Nora is desperately trying to remove her Corset, because of the Integrated Metal that was used to conduct electricity for her semblance is now Backfiring, and slowly crushing her! Mayday mayday!

Ruby: "But get this! When they asked who was most beautiful in the room-

-Creaking was heard, as Nora finally successfully removed her corset, just as it was immediately crushed into a ball. 'Phew'-

Ruby: "He glanced at a Pumpkin Pete poster, and said 'Pyrrha Nikos'!"
Pyrrha: "He did what?!"

The creaking stopped. However, Nora's now removed corset Exploded! 'Why?!'

Ruby: "It was so funny, because technically, you were in the room, you should have seen their faces! I have to go tell Yang, she's gonna tease the heck out of him! Maybe it'll distract her long enough so I can sneak some cookies- oops!- You didn't hear that! Bye, I'm going to go do the thing I didn't say I wasn't going to do!

Pyrrha didn't hear her.

Ruby stopped for a moment, and noticed the crosses on her skirt are now little hearts.

Ruby: "Why does this always happen!?"

Pyrrha finally responded, after Ruby long since left.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"

The Now Fragmented Corset, which was collected in Nora's hands, reformed into a metal firework, shot into the air, and exploded into even smaller Metal Confetti fragments all over area. 'Oh, Come on!"

Pyrrha: "EEEE- cough cough, No-Nora!? When did you get here?"

Nora gave her a flat stare.
~~~
Nora would later work with Ruby to make her corset "Push-of-a-button" removable in case of more "Pyrrha Events."
Original Character Do Steal: Doctor Abraham List New
Funnily enough, this character started out as a character for something else entirely. But then Andrew said something to make me bring him up, and...
Name: Doctor Abraham List
Allusion: Abraham Van Helsing (younger version from the original Dracula novel), with strong influences from the Nome King (Roquat) of the Oz books
Naming Process: Abraham honors the legendary vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, reflecting List's role as a brilliant, obsessive pursuer of monstrous truths. List is a plain, scholarly surname that evokes "list" as in catalog or inventory — fitting a man who methodically dissects and catalogs the fundamental nature of Grimm.
Age: 35
Background: A brilliant physicist and Grimm theorist, Dr. Abraham List studied under the controversial Dr. Viktor Merlot before surpassing his mentor in rigor and insight. He became the first researcher to subject stabilized Grimm samples to high-energy physics analysis, producing groundbreaking (and highly classified) reports on the exotic substance he designated "Umbrite." As the lead researcher at the prestigious De Leon Institute for Grimm Studies in Vale, List has pushed the boundaries of understanding the Grimm threat through a cold, clinical lens. He was once approached by agents of Salem with offers of power and knowledge, but he saw through their deception and refused — though the encounter confirmed to him that an active intelligence guides the Grimm. List walks a solitary path: neither fully aligned with Ozpin's circle nor corrupted like Merlot, he pursues pure scientific truth with ruthless detachment, believing that understanding the enemy is the only path to humanity's survival.
Race: Human
Emblem: A fractured white circle (representing scientific order) being consumed by writhing black fractal tendrils — symbolizing the relentless encroachment of Umbrite and humanity's fragile attempt to contain it
Weapon: "Entropy's Edge": A custom retractable gauntlet-blade reinforced with stabilized Lightning Dust emitters. It allows him to deliver precise cutting strikes while generating localized stasis fields to briefly stabilize Grimm samples in the field for emergency analysis.
Semblance: "Absorption"
Through physical contact, Abraham can partially assimilate properties of the material he touches — gaining the durability of stone, the conductivity of metal, or limited insights into Grimm matter. Mastering this Semblance required extreme discipline to avoid being overwhelmed or permanently altered by the absorbed substance. It grants him unparalleled intuitive understanding of physical and exotic materials, making him an extraordinary experimentalist, though overuse risks psychological or physical contamination.
Appearance: Tall and strikingly fit with a lean, athletic build honed by both laboratory discipline and field expeditions. He has messy, long red hair usually tied back in a practical ponytail, sharp light brown eyes that seem to analyze everything they see, and sharp, aristocratic features that give him an intense, almost predatory scholarly presence.
Outfit: A tailored dark greatcoat over a crisp white shirt and vest, practical trousers, and reinforced boots suitable for both the lab and dangerous field sites. He often wears protective gloves and carries an array of scientific instruments in a custom satchel. His overall appearance is that of a gentleman-scientist ready for both lecture halls and Grimm-infested ruins.
Personality: Cold, ruthless, and profoundly detached. Abraham List views the world through the lens of variables, equations, and puzzles to be solved. His towering intellect and ego make him difficult company — he is blunt, impatient with lesser minds, and often treats people as data points rather than emotional beings. This forced stoicism is a necessary shield; he understands that empathy can cloud judgment when confronting the existential horror of the Grimm. While he rejected Merlot's descent into madness and service to Salem, List remains morally ambiguous — willing to cross ethical lines in pursuit of knowledge that could save humanity. He is not cruel for cruelty's sake, but he will sacrifice much (including personal relationships) for scientific progress.
Notes: Dr. Abraham List is widely regarded as one of Remnant's foremost authorities on Grimm physiology and exotic matter theory. His groundbreaking work on Umbrite has opened new avenues for anti-Grimm weaponry and containment, though his cold pragmatism makes him a controversial figure among Huntsmen and moral philosophers. He maintains a wary distance from both Ozpin's inner circle and Salem's forces, pursuing his own agenda of total understanding. Beneath the icy exterior lies a man who has stared too long into the abyss of Grimm nature — and is determined to make that abyss
blink first.
Original Character Do Steal: Team EPIC New
Moving on to Team EPIC, let's start off with the original post:
Alright so we have a lot of characters in RWBY that are only hinted at in the original show, but stand a high chance of needing to be in the spotlight of a fan fiction. The most obvious example is Jaune's large family, but plenty more of them exist.
Consider Penny's Team. We know she was part of a full team of four before her fist death but the only teammate of hers we know anything about is one scene wonder Ciel Soleil, and while her scene was a great character establishing scene it was still only one real scene.
That scene also told us that Penny's Team was unaware that she was a Robot... which honestly doesn't make much sense. Penny's behavior is too unusual and her efforts to hide her robotic nature too unsubtle for people spending as much time with her as her school teammates would be to not figure it out. It also doesn't make sense for Atlas Academy to not select teammates for Penny that couldn't be trusted with a secret since Atlas' culture should have produced plenty of youth who would obey orders to keep their mouths shut about something.
I know that Ruby knowing Penny's secret was supposed to be part of their friendship, but we aren't really given a good reason why Penny had difficulty making friends with her team. Her teammates knowing Penny is Atlas' most valuable asset before they meet her is a decent obstacle to friendship for Penny to overcome in a story. It also makes the high value Penny places on Ruby's friendship deeper because she made friends with Ruby before Ruby found out she was a robot, meaning the obstacle between her and her teammates doesn't exist with Ruby.
So anyways I've brainstormed some Teammates for Penny. Here we go:
Team EPIC: The administration of Atlas Academy knew that Project P.E.N.N.Y. would attend their school far in advance of her actual attendance. As a result when the school started brainstorming team compositions her unique needs were at the forefront of their minds, and the desire to keep her status as the world's first Aura-capable Robot a secret influenced their thinking. As a result teammates that could obfuscate Penny's robotic nature and the ability to keep a secret were prioritized a bit over unit cohesion, leading to some unexpected friction between Penny Polendina and her teammates.
Emma Seraph (Alita Battle Angel): The daughter of one of the best cybernetics-surgeons in the Kingdom of Atlas, Dyson Seraph, who raised her in Mantle where he did most of his work. Emma suffered a horrific accident in her early years that would have killed her if her father was less skilled with putting people back together. While her father was able to save her life it was a very close call, and she is now a full-body cyborg who's only organic components are 95% of her brain and a handful of her internal organs.
Wanting to make his daughter as hard to kill as possible Dyson used the most dangerous augmentations he could get his hands on while building Emma's body. This caught the attention of General Ironwood's predecessor, who agreed to subsidize Dyson's efforts seeing Emma as a good testbed for Atlas' cutting edge combat cybernetics. Today Emma has a body made of highly experimental technology that makes her one of the most impressive combatants of any room she's in.
As a way to cope with her accident and her new body Emma enthusiastically threw herself into the world of underground extreme sports like motor-ball. Her love for high speed on her motorized rollerblades combined with a feeling of invincibility from her practically indestructible body eventually lead her to participate in illegal races through abandoned sections of Mantle where Grimm would be released onto the racetrack as obstacles for the racers. During one of these races something went wrong with Grimm containment and the monsters escaped into Mantle proper.
Seeing people in real danger Emma acted without thinking to save who she could. While did save several people that night many more lost their lives, and those deaths stuck with Emma. Her nightly excursions were no longer about feeding her adrenaline junkie tendencies for the sake of the thrill, her nightly excursions were now about feeding her adrenaline junkie tendencies in unlicensed Grimm hunts in the abandoned sections of Mantle for the sake of keeping those monsters away from people who don't have near indestructible cybernetic bodies.
Dyson had known about the underground extreme sports, and while he didn't approve he understood Emma's need to feel alive. However, while he had been willing to tolerate her risking herself in extreme sports he was less willing to tolerate unlicensed Grimm hunts, and so he put his foot down and told her she was ether going to stop hunting or go to Atlas Academy and learn how to hunt Grimm the correct way. By this point Emma felt she was doing something genuinely good with her life instead of just living from one adrenaline high to the next, so the decision to attend Atlas was a simple one.
When creating Team EPIC Emma was selected in part because of full-body cyborg nature. Penny Poledina's spare parts could be packed and shipped with Emma's spare parts thereby preventing suspicion regarding Penny's mechanical nature. She was given the position of team leader in part because Ironwood recognized her vigilante escapades as legitimate experience that proved her ability to think tactically in a tight spot. He also hoped that the responsibility of leadership would help curb the less desirable parts of her maverick tendencies. Trusting her with top secret information connected to Penny was a hard decision to make, but after personally testing her character Ironwood decided Emma could be trusted with such information.
Emma Seraph fights using a customized curved sword designed for slashing passes at extreme speeds achieved with her motorized rollerblades. She is also devising a unique style of martial art meant to take advantage of her body's unique cybernetic nature.
Penny Polendina: You know her, you love her. Need I say more?
Indie Regina (Indominus Rex): Shortly after James Ironwood became a Captain in Atlas' military he lead a raid on a facility that was suspected of conducting illegal Faunus experimentation. These suspicions were proven to be correct, and among the experiments discovered there was a young girl that quickly latched onto Ironwood and refused to leave his side. When the girl's parents could not be found Ironwood took the girl in as his ward, in part because of how attached she was to him and in part because his position would help meet her unique needs.
The experiments caused young Indie to develop multiple primeval faunus traits such as a long saurian tail, wicked claws on her hands and feet with scales going up her forearms and shins, feathers on her head instead of hair and a bestial speed and strength that was impressive even before her aura was unlocked.
Indie's obviously inhuman appearance caused problems for her growing up, not just with prejudiced humans but with faunus as well. There were plenty of humans who hated or belittled her for having animal parts. There were plenty of faunus who hated her for being Ironwood's "pet." Yet there were humans and faunus that treated her with respect thanks to the disciplined upbringing Ironwood gave her.
Having seen that terrible people came from all backgrounds Indie came to the conclusion that one's origins had very little to do with the kind of person you were; you ether chose to be a kind person or a jerk. This has given her an extreme dislike of those who view the world through the lenses of human vs. faunus conflict, firmly believing that the issue would have died (at least in Atlas, Vale and Vacuo) if the post-Belladonna White Fang weren't actively stoking the fires of resentment.
Her upbringing has also made her extremely patriotic, fueling her desire to become a huntress as a means of fulfilling her duty to her country (and maybe make her father figure proud). Her ultimate goals in life are to ether become the chief general of Atlas' military like General Ironwood or to become the Headmistress of Atlas Academy… like General Ironwood. Her plans once she gets the position? She fully expects her career to be mostly spent undoing the damage the White Fang has done to Human-Faunus relations in Atlas, so most of her plans currently revolve around promoting species-blind meritocracy.
When creating Team EPIC Indie was selected in part to aid Penny Poledina socially. Indie had spent most of her early childhood in a lab, so it was expected that she could help Penny adjust to life outside of a lab. If nothing else being the bit scary dinosaur faunus people would be hesitant to approach could be used to create a social barrier if Penny became overwhelmed in large high-class gatherings. Her connection to Ironwood also helped with the decision to inform her of Penny's classified nature, as the General already knew he could trust her.
Indie is a natural brawler who engages in melee using her natural claws and primeval strength to rip apart her foes. If the enemy can fly or otherwise keep their distance she possesses two simple service pistols to deal damage from afar. She calls her semblance "Thermal Vision" and it allows her to see in infrared wavelengths when it's active, making it difficult for an opponent to hide from her.
Ciel Soleil: [Insert Ciel Soleil headcanon here.]
So I'm currently thinking Ciel's one of the top students of Atlas' JROTC equivalent, and that she was chosen for Team EPIC because her exacting nature, incredible memory and literal interpretation of things like "give us a minute" means that anyone suspecting there's a robot on the team will point to her first only to find that she's provably human, thereby throwing people off Penny's sent.
I don't know if their are common Ciel Soleil headcanons I need to be aware of when expanding off of her one scene in the spotlight. I'm thinking the team needs a ranged specialist and that would probably fit with her. Would her knowing everyone's file come from a photographic memory semblance, or should that be normal photographic memory leaving her semblance open for something else?
So that's what I have for Penny's team so far. What do you guys think? Do you like 'em? Thoughts? Suggestions?
And now I'm going to add some latter clarifying posts so they're together with the initial idea:
Clarifying post 1:
As for Penny and Team EPIC...
We have Emma Seraph (our Alita Battle Angel expy), Penny Polendina (you know her you love her), Indie Regina (our Indominus Rex expy/gijinka) and Ciel Soleil (Insert your preferred headcanon here).
Emma was made team leader in part to help curb the worst aspects of her maverick tendencies, as being responsible for other people has been known to do that on occasion. I'm figuring Penny's decision to sneak off and visit Vale will be a huge wake up call for Emma, giving her a taste of what she put her father through back when she was sneaking out and participating in underground races and unlicensed Grimm hunts.
I'm figuring her friendship with Penny will come to resemble that of a sometimes exasperated but otherwise loving older sister once they work through the social barriers between them. They're both live life to the fullest kind of people, Emma from her adrenaline junkie habits and Penny from her joyous desire to experience everything that's new to her, so it'd make sense for them to become close once they properly understand each other.
Indie as an Indominus Rex expy/gijinka probably has some underlying anger issues and a bit of a sadistic streak as a result of her raised in a lab-with-poor-ethics trauma. Ironwood's disciplined hand in raising her would mean she has those problems competently bridled and focused. The fact that Ironwood could keep a steady supply of training robots for her to work out her issues with probably also had something to do with how she grew up to be a well adjusted woman.
She probably also relishes any chance she gets to fight Grimm. Nobody cares how brutal you get with those literally soulless monsters and so she has a socially acceptable outlet for her sadistic side. Another reason why she's well adjusted in spite of being a version of Indomidus Rex.
Indie wouldn't have been the only primeval faunus rescued from that lab. While Ironwood fostered Indie a set of quadruplet raptor faunus with similar mutations as Indie were taken in by one of Ironwood's underlings, then Lieutenant and now Captain (or maybe Commander) Owens. Owens raised those girls right, and now they want to be Huntresses to pay his kindness forward and be heroes like him.
Yes, I am suggesting that expies/gijinkas of Blue, Delta, Echo and Charlie could be used to make another first year team at Atlas Academy. They'd need different names though. Open to suggestions.
Once the social barriers are broken I'd imagine Indie and Penny having a cool cousins kind of relationship, since Ironwood is kind of like a strict uncle what with being a male role model besides her Father that she looks up to.
As for Ciel Soleil... well working off her one and only real scene I'd say she's probably Penny's actual partner, considering she's the teammate acting as Penny's handler.
Penny described her as being like Blake- if Blake was under orders to spend time with you, to which Ruby replied with "So Weiss then." However Penny hadn't spend a lot of time with Blake or anyone else on Team RWBY besides Ruby at that point so that description should be taken with a grain of salt.
Are there any popular headcanons about Ciel I should know about before trying to craft something new whole cloth?
Clarifying Post 2:
I think the cliff notes for most people include time obsessed, socially awkward, very formal and reserved but generally highly competent. Maybe she is a little insecure about how robotic some people see her but does not really know how to connect to people outside the strict military hierarchy. Most CielxJaune stories of course focus on Mr golden retriever being the first person who cares to bridge that gap.
Well, I've personally always written her to be on the autistic spectrum and that she has a time dilation semblance, hence her fixation on time.
Okay, time obsessed, socially awkward, possibly autistic, yet incredibly competent and thriving in the highly structured and regimented hierarchy of Atlas' military society. Those are workable things.
...I'm now picturing her with an watchmaking/collecting hobby, building watches and other timekeeping devices from hobby kits and fixing broken antique pocket watches and analog wristwatches in her free time. The prize of her collection could be an old and fancy yet practical Trench Watchfrom the Great War that she sometimes uses on field missions.
And with a watchmaking hobby Ciel would probably be Penny and Emma's go to helper for mechanical maintenance they can't do for themselves for one reason or another.
As far as shipping goes I actually like the idea of Ciel x Whitley. With the watchmaking hobby and the potentially autistic tendencies I'm envisioning a scene where Ciel attempts to have a normal conversation with him at some formal function they're both at only to start vomiting all of the technical details about a very specific stopwatch brand that was only in business for two years three decades ago, her mortification growing with each word escaping her lips because she knows this isn't how your supposed to talk to civilians and why can't she shut up! Fortunately for her Whitley engineering side lets him appreciate talking with a woman that can visualize how a bunch of gears mesh together and work in a 3D space.
Anyways @Titanmaster_117 , could you elaborate on that time dilation semblance? Like what do you mean when you say time dilation? How does it work? How is it balanced so it doesn't break the narrative?
Ah wonderful, another cadet with anger and brutality issues! Absolutely lovely! But yeah, Total Grimm Death is a wonderful outlet for such people.
As for Owens, boring-ass military-nerd incoming.
It seems like Indie was rescued around 10 years ago = +-1991. Ironwood already was a Colonel in the Army Special Forces and Sienna Khan has already left the Atlesian National Armed Forces in search of a better purpose.
By my estimations it was around this time when Ironwood became Major General and a Headmaster of the Atlas Hunter Academy (yes, we are not tying the position of C-in-C and Headmaster together - it is retarded). And soon after in 1993, "Globals" faction of the National Armed Forces have performed their major reform - merging Army Special Forces and Navy Special Forces into one united Special Operations Forces.
Might have been that the primeval lab was the last operation Ironwood commanded before becoming a headmaster and going purely to office work. Owens would be... I would suggest he is from Navy Special Forces, a nod to the fact that the original was a former USMC, and at that time was Senior (1st) Lieutenant. So by V1 he would be Major.
And I already feel bad for the man who would be handling these 4 sisters. But the idea of more cadets for Atlas Hunter Academy is lovely! And I thank you for more info about Indie - even more and more ideas for what would be happening in 2003 in Mistral.
I mean the thing that made Indominus Rex a character instead of a beast was her sadistic impulses and hatred, so Indie would need just a little bit of that to be a true expy/gijinka of Indominus.
That being said Ironwood's firm hand in raising her has focused all of Indie's anger into doing productive things, so she is actually rather composed most of the time and most people would never guess she has anger issues or a sadistic streak if they've never seen her on the battlefield.
So I'm picturing Indie as a surprisingly refined young woman that becomes somewhat unhinged when she has an acceptable target in front of her that gives her a chance to let loose.
Clarifying Post 3:
Well, by time dilation, I mean that she can speed up or reverse the flow of time of any person that she touches, either aging them or deaging them, meaning that she can turn anyone either into a baby or an old man if she so wished.
However, there's a catch to this all, as it seriously weakens her when she uses it for long periods of time. The one time that she used it to age someone to death in self-defence, she was in the hospital on the verge of death herself. so it's not a very practical power. It's actually quite dangerous to herself, as it drains her life force the more she uses it. She's already lost ten years of her life because of it.
Hmmmm.....
On the one hand that's an interesting semblance, and the drawback seems nasty enough to keep it from being abused...
But on the other hand it wouldn't synergize with her fighting style if we make her a sniper or some other long ranged specialist, and semblances do tend to synergize with the Hunter's fighting style.
So personally I'll probably use something more like Colobopsis' suggestion for my own interpretation of Ciel:
Indie is becoming my favorite member of team EPIC morr and more!
And as for time dilation for Ciel, we do need to make it somewhat different from what Andres has - his is a combo of slow-mo/bullet time and foresight - his comes from him being a control freak and over-preparing for the worst type of person - "how this all can go to shit". Slow-mo lasts up to 30 seconds and overuse causes hallucinations and head aches.
May I suggest that Ciel has slow-mo/bullet time + critical points of impact highlight? Something to emphasize her precision. And it also raises the question how does the Semblance manifest visually. Eyes lightning up? Dilating pupils?
It is also popular to go with a sniper rifle for her loadout. Though maybe a rifle akin to PSG-1/M417 is a better option. And M417 is the standard-issue rifle of the Atlas Marines. If Emma and Indie are extreme CQB, Penny is longer ranges, they would better have something for mid range.
So she'd be slowing time from her perspective letting her take all the time she needs to calculate the perfect shot, and because she can take all the time she needs she can pick out details and weaknesses others would miss at a glance and account for them in her calculations. She can also speed things up making long waits feel like seconds, though she uses this aspect of her power much more sparingly.
The problem is that while she can alter the flow of time for her mind her body remains mostly in sync with the normal time flow of the universe, so while she can take thirty relative minutes to account for all possible factors in her next shot her body will only move one real world second per real world second as she acts on her thoughts.
In other words she has a pause screen that lets her take her time to think through incredibly complicated situations, and a fast forward she basically only uses to mentally skip multi-hour flights.
And that can tie into her keeping exact time to a comedic level from her character defining scene in the original show and the watchmaking/collecting hobby I want to give her in relation to that: the time pieces keep her grounded and cognizant of how in sync or out of sync she is with the normal flow of time.
How does that sound?
Clarifying Post 4:
(in reference to Indie)
Does she, in the privacy of her own head sometimes indulge in fantasies of rescuing a man, badly beaten, from a White Fang torture dungeon who says "Actually that wasn't so bad," and seems enthusiastic when she shows off her whips, fluffy handcuffs and leather outfit?
There are some hungers better left unfed.
By that I mean Indie might have fantasies along those lines, but she has consciously made the decision that such fantasies should stay firmly in the realm of fantasies.
Basically when she became old enough to start having a serious interest in romance she had a nice long meditative session where she concluded that mixing her sadistic streak with intimacy would end poorly for all parties involved; because when she gets mean she gets mean, and she knows she'd accidentally take things way too far and betray the trust true intimacy requires.
So she'd have a bit of an internal conflict with wanting something she knows would be bad for her and her potential romantic partner, and she'd be looking for alternatives ways to channel those feelings so they don't spoil what she truly hopes to gain from intimacy: mutual safety in vulnerability.
WAIT A SECOND! THAT'S LITERALLY FALLOUT 3/NV VATS! Like, how you can completely freeze time. And use that to calculate everything. Oh and the "Wait" button is glorious idea. Oh boy, what if she is the stereotypical FNV Sniper Build? Actually, no, those don't use VATS too much. Hmm... Oh, we also shouldn't forget that she can't spend eternity in such mode as it drains Aura, so we need to specify that too.
Overall, this idea clearly differentiates her from other characters with Semblances that involve time perception. Andres is limited, but has several passive abilities, such as flash negation, monochrome vision, foresight. Yes, he too uses it to process info at high speed, but it is all-around.
One of the many ideas for Ironwood's Semblance - "Gun Kata" make him have just a very fast thought process time.
And it seems like Ciel has complete freeze, but her POV is limited.
Fallout's VATS is one of the things I was thinking of when I was forming the idea. Another thing I thought of was the Mind Palaces from the 2010 BBC Sherlock series, with which Sherlock was able to use roughly three seconds of his remaining consciousness after getting shot to process several minutes worth of information to figured out the best way to fall so he wouldn't bleed out or go into shock.
Perhaps with normal aura usage Ciel can stretch a second into a minute or so. It's theoretically possible for her to stretch an entire minute into an entire day, but doing so would completely exhaust her aura supply and require a longer than normal recovery time from stretching things like that.
Penny's Friends List New
Penny's Friends List
I Am Biased And Correct.
~~~~~~

Specialist Winter's Surprise Report:
Report On: Penny Polendina's Friends
(Teams RWBY & JNPR)
~~~~~~
Ruby Rose: a Naive girl, if not for Penny's body being built to resemble a late 17 year old girl and not a younger child. Ruby Rose would have been the perfect 15 year old best friend, and Role model. Due to Penny's Unconventional upbringing and her collection of knowledge more suited for a scientist with multiple degrees, Ruby Rose has taught Penny how to be a child. Though a Huntsmen Child does have it's own trade offs, far more battle hungry than normal children, and -as stated before- Ms. Rose is a Naive girl, a child herself (regardless of the Huntsmen Adult Law.*), who believes that even the most heinous of criminals only need a simple beating and a "time-out" in jail.
Weiss Schnee: I am biased, She is my own sister after all. She is intelligent, Kind-hearted, and can occasionally be humorous**. However, I do not disagree that Weiss can be "Difficult" when she is forced into confrontations and moments not normal to our lives in Atlas. And Penny gets into a lot of New and "exciting" confrontations and situations, that I believe Weiss herself won't enjoy, or wish to explain. Weiss too lived in a life dictated by our father, and doesn't have much experience in the wider world. The two would certainly get along, but I do not see them being close friends
Blake Belladonna: I will not lie, Weiss has informed me of her past. I cannot make a much of a judgment on her character as a whole, as regardless of what I read about Ms. Belladona, I will likely be biased. However, I can say such a pervert, who openly reads erotica, should not be near Penny, and especially shouldn't be anywhere near her during Penny's Book club. The Ace Ops nearly died of heart attacks when she recommend we read one of those Filth books, herself unknowing to the contents.
Yang Xiao Long: No. At least she has the decency not to "teach" Penny uncouth behavior when others are around. Penny didn't understand why she had to eat soap after her report on her Test Playdate***. For every 1 thing decent Penny learns from Ms. Xiao Long, she learns 9 things that her she shouldn't. She's on par of That Drunk her Uncle, and needs to be watched closely
Jaune Arc: Through personal digging (back when Weiss complained of a boy constantly harassing her for courtship) I learned quite a lot about Mr. Arc. A boy who thinks himself a hero, someone who will get people killed. however reports from friends and family on Dustnet and word of mouth, also paint him very favorably. The Test Playdate was successful, very successful, far more successful than even Ruby Rose's. Jaune Arc treats Penny carefully despite her reinforced frame and Aura, and teaches her all kinda of material a child her age should know without ridicule, even common sense advice Ms. Rose wouldn't know, Such as paying attention where one walks****. He's patient with her, if it wasn't for Doctor Polendina's aversion to the very concept of procreation*****, one would think him her older brother. If it wasn't for the nature of his teammates, and his loyalty to them, Project Staff would have Recruited him immediately.
Pyrrha Nikos: [Pyrrha Nikos is not to step within Six Feet (6') in the direction of Project P.E.N.N.Y. for no Longer than 3 minutes. This decision is non-negotiable. Instructions are to separate them when possible if either gets too close. -Signed; General James Ironwood, Doctor Pietro Polendina, Specialist Winter Schnee]******
Nora Valkyrie:
No. Ms. Valkyrie's Semblance passively outputs energy into the air, which Penny's body that automatically absorbs the minor electrical currents in the air, also picks up. One hyper Ginger is enough, thank you, and so while we will continue to allow the two to interact, we will keep contact to a minimum (Prolonged Physical Contact is a No.) She does however match Penny's enthusiasm and make her more confident.
Lie Ren: No. I don't know how, but after she received poems from Mr. Lie due to her curiosity on the subject, Penny somehow contracted Depression. The Entirety of the Project P.E.N.N.Y. Division had to pitch in to cheer her up and return her to normal. (Further investigation into these poems reveal that Mr. Lie pours in his trauma from his time during the Kuroyuri disaster, and Penny was able to read between the lines and see the meanings, each Poem regardless of how flowery and positive is filled with remorse regarding events in his life his deceased parents are missing.) Penny is Not to receive any poems from Lie Ren, and the two can only be in the same room if Nora Valkyrie is accompanying him. Having 2 hyper ginger's is a risk Scientists at Project P.E.N.N.Y. are willing to make. No wishes to see Penny like that ever again.
~~~~~~

* Thank Dust, shop owners have enough sense to deny her purchasing items suited for actual Adults, like alcohol. Likely Beacon's Headmaster Ozpin's doing through a meeting with Beacon Sponsored businesses.
** She inadvertently made a joke regarding The General during her last call, I still do not think she knows. I was surprised at myself that I was able to hold a straight face till her call ended. General Ironwood was reportedly quite confused when I had abruptly ended the the video call the moment I met his face as to not laugh in his face. I acted shameful in front of my superior, It was very embarrassing moment.
*** She hiccupped bubbles!
**** The amount of time's I've watched Penny and Ms. Rose collide into people because they were to engrossed in their conversation was pitiful. Agent Clover ran a betting pool to ascertain how often those two would walk into something, lucky as he may be, I walked away with 50 lien (67 times they walked in to a person, a wall, a lampost, and once, a truck)
***** Doctor Polendina disagreed that he had an aversion to Procreation, he then made a joke how, because he made Penny, he was a "Pro at Creation". I didn't Laugh. No one on staff laughed. I think Penny herself cringed. I didn't know she could, I don't believe Disgust was an emotion she knew. And I've seen her eat from the garbage bin when she was a prototype!
****** At least when Niko's semblance forced Penny into an 'Impromptu extended Hugging Event' Niko's felt uncomfortable enough to no longer be with Penny alone.

On Worldbuilding: Harem Considerations 1 New
In the SB thread I had two posts examining harems in RWBY. Figured I should also bring them over.

Anyways here's the first one:

That and... Is there any man other than Jaune Arc who could herd team RWBY and keep them from destroying any more civilizations after the defeat of Salem? I don't think so.

Yeah, while it was completely unintentional on CRWBY's part the franchise does lend itself to being a harem story what with plot relevant females outnumbering plot relevant males for most of the show's run, and out of the plot relevant males only a small handful of them work as romantic interests for the plot relevant females.

I mean let's go through our list of prospective bachelors real quick, in the order they're introduced to the plot:

First we have Jaune, then Ren, then Cardin and his team, then Sun, then Neptune, then Mercury, then Oscar, and finally we have Whitley.

Let's look at everyone except Jaune first.

Ren is so closely linked to Nora at the show's start that he's functionally already married to her, even if neither of them are willing to admit that they're "together-together." You'd need a character that's just as much a match for Nora as Ren and could smoothly slide into their relationship without rocking the boat too much in order to make a Ren harem work, and I don't think any of the plot relevant girls in the cast fit the bill. As a result Ren doesn't work as a harem protagonist.

Cardin and his teammates are introduced as stereotypical bullies with very little depth beyond that, which makes them bad choices for our single ladies. They also loose plot relevance once the Jaune gets bullied plot line is over. You'd need to spend a lot of time on character growth before anyone on Team CRDL could work as a harem lead, so they're out.

Sun was designed from the ground up to be Blake's boyfriend, no matter what any Bumblebee shipper might claim. As a result he's a genuinely great guy who could make a great match for our single ladies with just a little bit of character development. The problem is, like I said earlier, is that he was designed to be Blake's boyfriend from the ground up. His best character traits are custom made to help Blake grow past her own character flaws (coincidentally the same character flaws that make Blake a bad match for Yang), and as a result the boy needs some retooling if you're going to pair him with any girl that isn't Blake. You could make him work as a Harem lead, just not as easily as some of the other guys on this list.

Neptune was introduced as a love interest for Weiss... but he wasn't designed to be her soulmate or anything like that. In fact it's clear from the word go that his romance with Weiss probably wouldn't work out. He's a skirt chaser that isn't looking for anything serious yet, and it would take some major character growth for him to change his ways and become an actual catch instead of a fling. So Neptune doesn't work as a harem lead.

Mercury is part of Team Bad Guy™, and while his backstory does give him the narrative potential for redemption/switching sides you'd have to realize that potential before he'd be a good match for anyone in the plot relevant female cast besides maybe Emerald or Neopolitan. So once again he doesn't really work as a harem lead. [Edit: However he could work as a harem lead for the girls on Team Bad Guy™ without having to go through a redemption arc.]

Oscar was introduced at the start of Volume 4 and became part of the main cast at some point in Volume 5 if memory serves me correctly. He actually has pretty decent relationship with our single ladies, Ruby in particular, so he actually has some potential as a harem lead... Unfortunately he also has a Wizard older than civilization itself living in the back of his mind and at some point he'll become that Wizard older than civilization itself. This has the potential to make any relationship with any of the main girls weird enough to make things unsettling if you think about it too hard, and this significantly damages his potential as a harem lead.

Then we have Whitley, and Whitley is great. Like in many ways he's the VIP of Volume 8. He's hansom, his heart is in the right place in spite of his terrible upbringing, he's clever, he's rich, and he's got a bit of a bad boy edge thanks to his sarcastic wit. He's basically an almost perfect haughty-rich-boy romantic lead. In fact the only major problem Whitley has is that his proper introduction happens pretty darn late in the story, meaning he doesn't really have a chance to form a dynamic with any of our plot relevant ladies, as a result you'd need to create the dynamic yourself as you write the story. But if you're comfortable doing that Whitley makes a good harem protagonist.

And that brings us back to Jaune. Now let's face it, this guy is the franchise's main character. It was a complete accident on CRWBY's part (in fact they were actively trying to not make him the main character), but his Zero To Hero character arc is the only fully realized one in the original show making him the most fleshed out character in the cast. Jaune possesses all of the characteristics of a classic hero and it honestly isn't a big surprise that the Japanese part of the fandom pegged him as the main character when you take the time to think about it. In other words if you compared him to the leads of any Shonen story that just so happens to have a harem element to it you'd find that he'd fit the same mold as a lot of them. On top of that he's been part of RWBY's story since the first proper episode meaning he has a well established dynamic with most of our plot relevant single ladies, and it isn't that hard to shift a good chunk of those established dynamics into a romantic direction. So if you're going to write a RWBY harem story Jaune is about as solid of a harem lead as you can get.

Every other plot relevant male isn't in the right age bracket to work as a love interest for our leading ladies, and the rest of the boys in the right age brackets have even less time in the spotlight than Team CRDL in the main show, and would basically be OCs if you tried to use most of them.

Therefore if we ranked our plot relevant bachelors on who would be the best harem protagonist using their canon characterizations and narrative roles I think we'd get something like this:

S-tier: Jaune, Whitley
A-tier: Sun
B-tier: Oscar (Without the Wizard's baggage)
C-tier: Mercury, Neptune
D-tier: Ren, Oscar (With the Wizard baggage)
F-tier: Team CRDL

So in summary Jaune and Whitley are the clear harem protagonists that you could make work with most of the girls in the cast. You could believably give both of them their own fairly large harem when you consider how their character archetypes work in the wider harem genre.

Sun can work as a harem protagonist with only a few minor tweaks, but even with those tweaks it would probably end up as him being the only boy in the harem he shares with Blake.

Oscar could maybe work if you either don't mind the wizard baggage, have a workaround for the wizard baggage, have some girls lined up for whom the wizard baggage wouldn't make things weird, or avoid the wizard baggage entirely by not killing Ozpin.

The rest of the guys don't work as harem protagonists right out of the box, so be prepared for a lot of work if you want to use them for some reason or other.

On Worldbuilding: Harem Considerations 2 New
And here's the second one:

So in most circles it wouldn't be controversial to say that most of the Harem Genre is trash, with a lot of people who aren't interested in the genre assuming that the trashiness is a fundamental issue with the genre. However anyone who's actually looked into the genre can confidently tell you that the issues causing the trashiness aren't fundamental, as you can find plenty of harem stories that are genuinely good not just for the genre but in general.

No the real reason why most of the harem genre is considered trash is because the wrong questions were asked and answered in the brainstorming process. You see every author irregardless of genre needs to ask and answer a list of important questions to make their story work; now they don't have to be deep answers, but they do need to be there. (You know questions like "Why is the Bad Guy doing bad things?" The answer could be deep, it could be shallow, but in any case it needs to be there for the villain's actions to make sense in story.) Some of these questions happen to be genre specific, and unfortunately a lot of people working in the harem genre fail to ask and answer the questions specific to their genre.

Questions like: "What is it about our harem protagonist that causes multiple people to fall for them? Are those things enough for those people to stick around in spite of the competition?" Those are simple enough questions that are easy to answer since those are the same questions needed for the industry staple love triangles found in the wider romance genre.

Now if your harem story ultimately ends with the protagonist picking one of the girls you can stop asking questions because then you're just dealing with a more complicated love triangle, but if you're going to go with a true harem ending of some sort you need to ask more questions. Questions like: "Would the harem actually be stable? Are the girls that are going to end up in the harem actually capable of sharing, or will our protagonist become the enteral referee?"

Basically you need to have some consideration of what happens after the wedding/other-official-get-together-milestone if you want to have a satisfying conclusion to the story. Trash harem stories build harems that feel like they'll fall apart the instant the camera stops rolling. Good harem stories build a harem that feels like it will stand the test of time.

And that's why I like RWBY harem stories, Jaune harem stories in particular. I've already touched upon how Jaune is the most natural harem protagonist out of the available boys in the cast, so we'll be focusing on the women's end of the equation.

The three girls closest to Jaune in the canon show are:

1. Jaune's partner and secret admirer Pyrrha Nikos
2. Jaune's best friend who only needed one or two plot developments to become the girlfriend Ruby Rose and
3. His first on screen crush Weiss Schnee, and if her reaction to him being the Rusted Knight meant anything she's who he probably would have ended up with if the show had both continued and given Jaune a happy ending.

These three girls mesh well.

Weiss gets along well enough with Ruby that It isn't hard to construct a believable scenario where Weiss decides she'd be okay sharing Jaune with Ruby. Weiss also admired Pyrrha to such an extent that it also isn't hard to construct a scenario where she'd be okay sharing Jaune with Pyrrha.

Ruby in turn was affected enough by Pyrrha's death that we can infer the two of them became close at Beacon even though the show didn't actually show it and we have to assume they bonded offscreen. In any case it's still easy to construct a believable scenario where Ruby decides she's okay sharing Jaune with Pyrrha, just like it's easy to construct a scenario where Ruby's okay with sharing him with Weiss.

Pyrrha is interesting because of how passive she was in her longing for Jaune in spite of how all consuming that longing was. If another girl got Jaune first and then turned around and offered Pyrrha some kind of place alongside them it's believable that she'd latch onto that offer and refuse to let go, especially if the offer came from a girl like Ruby or Weiss.

In other words the girls closest to Jaune in the canon show are all girls that could believably be willing to try sharing him with each other without breaking character, and then make it work long term.

And it isn't just Jaune and the girls he was close to in canon. It's believable that Yang would be willing to share a guy like Jaune with Ruby, and vice versa. Sun, Blake and Ilia make a believable trio thanks to how Sun and Ilia are both into Blake, giving us a solid core for a different harem. Penny's overeager and sweet nature makes it believable that she'd be willing to share a paramour with a close friend. Emerald's devotion to Cinder in the early volumes make it believable that she'd follow Cinder into a man's bed, and it isn't difficult to see that level of devotion transfer to someone else once Emerald parts from Cinder after internalizing her heel realization. Whitley is an almost perfect harem lead who just needed a few canon interactions with girls not predisposed to distrust him for that to be obvious.

Basically RWBY canon gave us a wide selection of girls that could believably be happy in a harem together without breaking character, to the point that it'd be faster to list the combinations that don't work than it would be to list the combinations that do.

In fact there are enough girls that could believably be happy in a harem together that you could take the three most natural harem leads of Jaune, Sun and Whitley and give each of them their own respectably sized harem within the same story.

So that's why RWBY harem stories appeal to me; all the questions you need to consider in order to make a harem story where the harem ending is a happy ending with little to no caveats have answers right there in the open for you to pick up. As a result most RWBY harems stories are at least decent so long as the author is trying, even if they're a relative novice.

TLDR; Harems in RWBY just work, and that's why I like to see them.

So then tell me @Sift Green

How do the Artic Twins rate on your scale of Harem Lead?

After all in Iessa's own words: "I'm not joining your harem. You're joining mine."

So then tell me @Sift Green

How do the Artic Twins rate on your scale of Harem Lead?

After all in Iessa's own words: "I'm not joining your harem. You're joining mine."

Well, I'd have to reread the relevant snippets to see what they're like as romantic interests. From what I remember there was friction between them and the other cast members half rooted in culture clashes that the twins actively leaned into knowing leaning into the clash could cause friction. I also remember the twins being proactively abrasive with the other girls interested in Jaune after one of them secured Jaune as her boyfriend, with said abrasiveness being conducted in a manner that felt like it reduces the odds of successfully adding more members to a potential harem.

Now I may be misremembering, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if I'm misremembering everything since I have no concrete image of the Twins in my head to attach relevant memories to, but if my rememberings are accurate I'd say they're currently somewhere in C or B tier.

That being said I also don't know the direction their story and character arcs are going, and that's something that could raise or lower their rankings by a significant margin.

So yeah I'm like half "I need to reexamine them" and half "I need to wait and see" before I could give them a solid place on the tier list.

I guess that means my rememberings aren't completely off.

In that case the trajectory of their character arcs is very important. As things stand their deliberate abrasiveness makes them their own worst enemies if building a harem is a serious endpoint for them. So there either needs to be signs they'll be able to get a handle on that before they make permanent enemies of the other girls, or clear signs that they'll figure out how to rebuild burnt bridges when they do push their abrasives too far.

Because knowing a character's most likely trajectory can make their current shortcomings much more tailorable. Jaune's shortcomings in the early volumes are easier to accept since his zero-to-hero character arc makes it clear he'll grow past those shortcomings. Blake's problems are harder to accept because the abrupt abandonment of BlackSun made it clear she'd never grow past her problems.

So if you want the Twins to b A or S tier love interests and central figures of a harem you need to make it clear that their personal flaws are things they are capable of growing beyond, and plant a few hints foreshadowing how they'll grow beyond those flaws before the narrative reaches a point where those flaws cause them major problems.

Naw nothing so complex.

As I once outlined about Vacuian culture, they tend to be friendlier once they've fought you. Because that's how vacuians get to know the measure of you and each other.

As it stands Iella has fought both Jaune and Yang. Which has also resulted in her dating them both separately. Though Yang didn't really see it as such.

Pyrrha is next on the chopping block after the events of Shape of a Soul.

About the only hard no would be Blake. There's irreconcilable differences there due to White Fang troubles.

Yang liked to consider herself a good big sister to Ruby. Most of her thinking stemming from her basically raising her after their dad spiraled. She tried hard to let her grow up without interfering, but alas her protectiveness tended to blind herself to the fact her baby sister was only 2 years younger than she was.

Like right now.

It'd been months since her sister, Vomit boy, and Ren and Nora began a journey to reach Haven. She'd mostly caught up because uncle Qrow gave their location. But now that she was there with them, she noticed how- close Ruby and Jaune were.

Right now she was sitting on his lap, and okay little weird but it was probably a friend thing. Then they gave each other a look, and alright maybe they were having some weird friend shared thought thing.

"Man Yang you should've seen Jaune!" Ruby waved her arms excitedly, "He stopped the Nuckelavee in its tracks! It was so cool!"

"Me? Ren was the man of the hour then! He was doin' a lotta cool stuff!"

Said young man waved them off, "Please, no. I'd been blinded by anger, if it had not been for you all... I'd have joined my family that night."

Ren felt Jaune's hand pat his shoulder, the blond giving him a fond look.

"Well you're stuck with us I'm afraid," he grinned, "Can't go losin' my brother from another mother anytime soon you hear?"

Ren smiled, and nodded.

"Yeah!" Nora suddenly pulled Ren into a hug, "Team RNJR's still gotta kick lotsa butt!"

"Yeah!" Ruby cheered as Jaune returned to the chair they were sitting on, lifting her onto his lap, "Ahh, my throne had returned."

"Oh I'm sorry, what throne?" he asked as he began to lightly poke her sides.

"Nohohohoho stop that!" she squirmed from his attack, "I'm sorhohohory!"

"Better be," he grinned before kissing her.

That had been when Yang rose, walking over to Jaune.

"Alright Vomit Boy watch it," she growled, cracking her knuckles, "Unless you forgot who's little sister you just put your lips on."

"W-wha- Yang no!" Ruby tried speaking, "Jaune is-"

"Hush sis. I've got a punk to give a lesson."

"NO!"

Yang flinched at her sisters yell, and was shocked when she stood defiantly before her. Not a fleck of worry on her face.

"Now you listen to me," Ruby began, "Me and Jaune we're- we're together alright?"

".....WHAT!? Since when!?"

"W-well it didn't start out quickly. But, after traveling for so long together, I don't know I just felt so- so happy seeing him beside me. Then I saw some village girl being all cutesie with him, and I got annoyed and then I kissed him!"

"What!?"

"Hush! After that we- we talked, and then began to date- kinda, was a little hard given we were mostly in the woods, but whenever we went to town we went on dates."

"True!" Nora half yelled from her spot, "Me and Ren would give em privacy every time they did!"

"Indeed," Ren nodded, "Though they didn't state as much, me and Nora didn't miss the growing connection they had."

"B-but- why didn't you stop em?! Ruby's-!"

"A girl who just wanted to be happier alright?!" Ruby yelled again, frown deeper than before, "Jaune makes me happy. We like the same things, we've fought Grimm side by side, we've talked about everything! Why is it so hard for you to remember that I'm a person with feelings?"

Yang stepped back a bit, her anger replaced by panic, and worry, "R-ruby I- I just-"

Her sister sighed, "Look Yang, I know you care about me. You wouldn't have gotten angry at Jaune kissing me if you didn't, or act like a mom when we were little. But I'm not baby Ruby anymore."

She held her sisters hands, "I'm Ruby. Older, stronger, smarter-ish Ruby. So please, let me be older Ruby."

Yang tried arguing, but her sisters words were making her hesitate. So, she instead glared at Jaune.

"You really love my sis?"

He nodded, no fear or apprehension in his actions, "I'd put the moon back together for her if she asked."

She simply stared at him, red looking into blue, before she blinked and her eyes returned to lilac as she sighed in defeat. She gave her sister a sad smile.

"So do I call you Big Ruby now sis?" she tried joking.

Ruby returned her smile, "Nah. Just Rubes."

With that, the sisters hugged, and while Yang wouldn't instantly start to view her sister as fully grown completely yet, luckily she had her friends to smack sense into her and remind her. Still took Nora bear hugging her when she saw Jaune and Ruby go on a date though, but small steps.
Perfect! This is exactly what I was imagining. Yang now has to come to terms with the fact that Ruby grew up while she was sitting at home. She's probably going to feel bad about that. She missed it! She should have been there...
I think it would have been cool if WBY had commented on how everyone was tanned and looked a lot tougher now after their many months on the road by this point in the story. Leaner in the face, harder eyes, that sort of thing.

Don't Take My Man New
Continuing on with copying posts from SB:

This actually has a lot of potential, since fanon has Pyrrha and Arslan as rivals, so Arslan may have an inferiority complex regarding Pyrrha.

So now Arslan catches feelings for Jaune, and is seemingly making progress with him. Pyrrha, however, is not going down without a fight, which makes Arslan panic because she has never been able to beat Pyrrha.

Now Arslan is afraid Pyrrha won't just be victorious on the battlefield, but as a woman as well.
Pyrrha, after seeing her actively pursue Jaune, finally registers Arslan as her true rival, with Weiss being a close second.
First thing that came to mind, and it really stuck when I realized Pyrrha's a dead ringer for Dolly Parton's description of Jolene:

Nikos, Nikos, Nikos, Nikos,
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Nikos, Nikos, Nikos, Nikos,
Please don't take him just because you can

Your beauty is beyond compare
With flaming locks of auburn hair
With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green
Your smile is like a breath of spring
Your voice is soft like summer rain
And I cannot compete with you, Nikos

And I can easily understand
How you can easily take my man
But you don't know what he means to me, Nikos

You could have your choice of men
But I could never love again
He's the only one for me Nikos
I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Nikos

Nikos, Nikos, Nikos, Nikos,
I'm begging of you please don't take my man
Nikos, Nikos, Nikos, Nikos,
Please don't take him even though you can

Just needed to swap out the name and cut the lines about sleep-talking and it just fits the idea presented here.

I really like this scenario.

Like the first weekend after she arrives at Beacon Arslan goes to volunteer at some church related charity event and it just so happens that Jaune is also volunteering at the same event. She hits it off with him without even realizing he's Pyrrha's partner. When she realizes Jaune's a student at Beacon she asks if he could show her around campus and maybe hang out some time, and Jaune agrees because hey new friend.

They hang out after class a couple of days and Arslan finds herself drawn to Jaune, so she asks him out on a proper date that Friday night. Jaune's taken aback but he says yes because how often do attractive girls ask the guy out and it's not like he was getting anywhere with Weiss anyways.

The date is a success, and at the end of it Arslan has fallen for Jaune and she's fallen hard.

It is only after the date that Arslan finds out Jaune is partners with Pyrrha, it just never came up before then and unrelated shenanigans kept her from meeting Jaune's team until after the date.

The new couple go on more dates, and during the first week after the first date Pyrrha manages to hide her devastation from the two of them well enough. Nora tries to comfort the crimson haired spartan by pointing out that Jaune and Arslan literally just started dating, it's not like they're getting married or are even engaged at this point; they could easily break up at some point so she shouldn't give up hope just yet. Pyrrha mules that over in her head for a bit and the little devil on her shoulder whispers that she could make them break up.

Pyrrha finally gets proactive with her feelings for Jaune. She stats to actually flirt with him, subtly at first but she gets more and more blatant as the weeks go on. Jaune is in a state of disbelief regarding Pyrrha flirting with him in part because of his own denseness and also because the idea of Pyrrha being a deliberate home-wrecker conflicts too much with the image he has of his partner and friend, so he keeps looking an explanation for her behavior that isn't flirtation.

Arslan is annoyed with Pyrrha's actions, but she ignores it at first because Jaune isn't taking the bait. Yet as Pyrrha's flirtations become bolder and more and more blatant Arslan's inferiority complex when it comes to her chosen rival begins to show its' face and she starts to grow more and more fearful that Pyrrha will succeed in taking Jaune from her.

Things build for a little while, with Pyrrha becoming more and more desperate to catch Jaune's eye and Arslan becoming more and more terrified that she'll succeed. Eventually things can't build any more than they already have and a confrontation occurs between the two young women without Jaune being present to defuse things.

They agree to take their confrontation someplace that isn't public because neither of them want Jaune to stumble across this and see what's about to happen. Once they're alone Pyrrha prepares to lay into her rival, only to have her furry derailed as Arslan collapses to her knees and desperately begs with her entire being for Pyrrha to not take Jaune from her.

Arslan weeps and wails and is a blubbering mess as the inferiority complex breaks through her composure. And there she is, her whole soul laying bare and broken at the feet of her rival, completely at the mercy of the other woman.

Pyrrha stands there frozen. All the little fears and terrors that had compelled Pyrrha to act, to do everything in her power to get the love of her life away from her rival can be clearly seen in Arslan's eyes. Her rival is at her mercy with all of her defenses stripped away, and all Pyrrha can see is her own reflection in the woman she came here to destroy.

The moment seems to stretch on forever as Pyrrha stands at a total loss as to what she should do.

Where do things go from there?

Nora: "Paintball" New
Living a life wandering the frontier with her best friend had given Nora many life experiences few who lived in the big cities could even imagine. At the same time there were several things about life in a proper city that Nora had never experienced. Sure she and Ren had visited and even lived in different towns and villages that were prosperous enough for a layman to consider them cities, but even the biggest of those settlements tended to lack something or other that you could find in a proper city.

Like paintball.

Nora had never had a chance to play the game before, and she was having a blast! Jaune-Jaune and Sun had organized the whole thing and invited a bunch of other students to tag along. They were even getting some extra credit for this after Sun and Jaune managed to frame the whole thing as a day of 'low risk tactical exercises' to Professor Goodwitch! All they had to do was let her watch from the facility's camera room.

In any case this game offered the high octane action Nora craved, and her heart raced as she rushed down the hallway of the maze the paintball place had set up. She fired behind herself to keep her opponents from pursuing as she relocated to a more secure position, turning the corner just in time. She only had one or two more shots in the gun, meaning she needed to be out of the line of fire immediately.

Paintballs wizzed past the space she used to be and Nora fired her last shots back around the corner to discourage pursuit. She then kept a weary eye on that corner as she felt around her belt for more ammo.

A door just a little bit behind her was kicked open, and Nora quickly glanced over her shoulder. It was Ren.

"Renny! Cover me! I need to reload!"

"Got it," Ren confirmed as he dashed past her and fired a few shots around the corner for her.

Nora spent a few moments fumbling with the unfamiliar loading mechanisms, and she had just found the latch when Ren abruptly stopped firing.

"Wait a minute," long haired boy muttered, "We're on different teams."

"Wut," Nora eyes snapped up to the brightly colored armband Ren was wearing. She glanced to the brightly colored armband she was wearing, and then back to Ren's armband.

The two armbands were obviously different colors. They were on different teams.

Ren slowly raised his paintball gun in her direction.

"Whoa!" Her eyes widened in panic, "Wait, Wait, WAIT!"

Ren unloaded on her point blank.

As Nora fell back with her front completely covered in paint she could see a camera on the ceiling tracking her fall, and she could already hear the lecture Professor Goodwitch would be giving her about situational awareness...

Dodgeball New
Dodgeball

Prompt: Inspired by Disney's Recess

It is gym class.

The game is Dodgeball.

It is boys vs girls with Team RWBY vs CRDL with JNPR split between them.

The girls expect an easy victory.

No one expected Jaune to be a Secret Dodgeball God formerly known as Le Faucheur de Dodgeball. AKA The Dodgeball Reaper back home.

And as Jaune blows the steam off his fingers like a gunslinger blows the smoke from a barrel after singlehandedly wiping them out, the thoroughly defeated girls suddenly find a need to beat a hasty retreat back to the dormrooms for a quick change.

Pyrrha is unable to speak properly for the rest of the week. No one knows if it's the shock of being so throughly humilatingly defeated or if she's achieved some new level of desire for Jaune. She's not the only one who's suddenly submissive toward and craving Jaune.

Ruby:......

Yang:........

Weuss:......... Eh?

They all turn around 180 with their heads creaking as they see Pyrrha ass over head tea kettle with the ball embedded halfway into the Padded and concrete wall of Sports center.

The Boys team stare at Jaune as he stands there staring at his fingers, they are smoking and Ren could even swear he saw burnt flesh with bleeding wounds.

Jaune clenches his fists, his eyes pitched with Dark intent as power sparks in them.

Jaune: I need more..... This isn't my limit.

Jaune's aura flashes a brilliant gild, rebuilding his skin and muscles over the wounded area.

His eyes Lock onto Ruby, as the primal fear common in all living beings catches her heart - Death.

Boys team slowly back off as Yang activates her Semblance, ready to teach him a lesson and she shoots the ball as if a Dragon breathing unholy fire.

Jaune' Palm stops it as if a commandment from God himself and in split second returns the favor to her, and Yang shreiks and joins Pyrrha.

The Girls team surrender but the Boys team cannot think to celebrate, they needed to get the fuck out of here fast, and as soon as Glynda shakingly declares them victors, Jaune's neck slumps forward and the haze lifts his face and he says.

Jaune: Great Match guys! ..... Eh? Where is everyone?

My response to this excellent post:

Are you gonna be my girl? New
Funny idea I wanted to share:

Back when Jaune decided to serenade Wiess, instead of an acoustic ballad, he pulls up with an electric guitar and sings...

How does everyone react when Jaune genuinely rocks?

(For the record, I do believe Weiss would still turn him down, but would be begrudgingly impressed at the performance.)

Are you gonna be my girl?

The teams trouped into the room taking a seat as they did so. Jaune had texted them asking them to meet him in the common room. A seat clearly marked.

"So what do you think VB wants?" Yang eyed the oddly placed drumset with curiosity. The instructions had been vague. For everyone to come down and take a seat on the couch placed in the middle of the room.

"Not sure." Ruby shrugged. "He didn't say anything to me. Though he was muttering under his breath about acoustics."

"I swear if this is another-" Weiss was cut off as the Artic Twins entered the room and approached the drumset. Iella Artic took her place next to it while Iessa Artic stood nearby wearing an electric bass. The two bowed formally before Iella sat down and Iessa proceeded to plug in.

"Oh my." Yang grinned as Iella tapped on a nearby tambourine before Iessa started picking at the bass strings.

A cough sounded from behind them.

"Oh NO." Weiss groaned. As Iella picked up on the drums.

Suddenly both stopped playing as one Jaune Arc suddenly slid across the room into the band from some unseen corner, electric guitar blaring announcing his arrival.

"GO!"

This prompted the Twins to start back up as they played accompanying Jaune.

Weiss groaned. Yang and Ruby laughed. Nora cheered. Ren and Pyrrha just watched on in mild interest and horror respectively.

Blake actually lowered her book with a quizzical look watching the performance.

The band paused as Jaune belted out,
"So a ONE TWO THREE Take my hand and come with me
Because you look so fine that I really wanna make you mine"

Another cord was played before another pause.

"I said, YOU LOOK SO FINE that I really wanna make you mine!"

Jaune rocked out stopping before the couch in front of Weiss.

"Oh a FOUR FIVE SIX Come on and get your kicks!
Now you don't need that money When you look like that, do ya, honey?"

Weiss went completely red though from embarrassment or indignation, no one was quite sure yet.

The song continued as they proceeded through the chorus.

"Big white boots,
Long white hair
She's so sweet with her... GET BACK STARE!"

Yang fell over into Blake's lap laughing.

Jaune continued undeterred.

"Well, I could see!
You home with me!
But you were with ANOTHER MAAAAAAN, YEAH!
I know we ain't got!
Much to say!
Before I let you GET AWAAAAAAAAY, YEAH!"

The band continued to play until they let the song taper off and Jaune drew up to Weiss.

"I said... are you gonna be my girl?"

"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" Nora cheered.

The song repeated a second time.

"So a ONE TWO THREE Take my hand and come with me
Because you look so fine that I really wanna make you mine
I said, YOU LOOK SO FINE that I really wanna make you mine!"

Pyrrha simply shot Weiss a jealous look as Jaune and the twins continued to rock out.

"Oh a FOUR FIVE SIX Come on and get your kicks!
Now you don't need that money with a face like that, do ya?"

Weiss tried to get up and leave but Yang, Ruby, AND Nora forced her back into her seat for the second rendition of the Chorus.

"Big white boots,
Long white hair
She's so sweet with her... GET BACK STARE!"

Weiss proceeded to hit Jaune with that EXACT kind of look even as she continued turn puce.

Yang, Ruby, and Nora joined Jaune for the second round of the Chorus.
"Well, I could see!
You home with me!
But you were with ANOTHER MAAAAAAN, YEAH!
I know we ain't got!
Much to say!
Before I let you GET AWAAAAAAAAY, YEAH!"

Another pause before the expected question.
"I said.... are you gonna be my girl?"

"WHOOOOOOOOO!" Yang and Nora encouraged.

"Oh yeah!
Oh yeah!
Come on!"

Jaune poured his heart and soul into the final chorus.

"IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII COULD SEE!
YOU HOME WITH ME!
BUT YOU WERE WITH ANOTHA MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN, YEAH!"
I KNOW WE AIN'T GOT!
MUCH TO SAY!
BEFORE I LET YOU GET AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY, YEAH!"
UH BE MY GIRL!
BE! MY! GIRL!
ARE YOU GONNA BE MY GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRL YEAH?!"

Jaune had slid across the floor in front of Weiss waiting there expectantly.

Weiss reacted predictably.

"NO!"

She rose and quickly stormed off. Ruby raced after her. "Wait bestie!"

Jaune deflated.

"Aw cheer up VB." Yang said socking him in the shoulder. "Weiss is probably the only person who could resist the Power of Rock by sheer virtue of being so Weiss Cold. I bet ANY other girl would have said yes."

Pyrrha's head nodded so hard it was wonder she didn't snap her neck. "Absolutely. ANY OTHER GIRL." she emphasized.

Jaune gave them a weak smile. "Thanks guys." he turned to the twins. "Thanks for helping out. Even if it didn't work..."

"No bother at all Jaune." Iessa gave him an easy smile. Iella grinned. "I had fun! We should do this again!"

"Hell yeah!" Yang agreed giving Jaune a megawatt grin of her own. "You rocked HARD VB! Where'd you learn to shred like that? We should get you to play for the Beacon dance!"

Jaune went pink at the praise. "Oh... my sisters said that girls liked guitar players and well... there was this one cute cat faunus back home who was into rock and roll..."

---

Ruby easily caught up to Weiss. "Aw come on Weiss! It wasn't THAT bad was it? I thought it was really good."

Weiss huffed and turned away from Ruby. "It was loud! Rude! Completely improper!"

Ruby grinned. "Buuuut you liiiiked it!"

"I DID NOT YOU ABSOLUTE DOLT! I DID NOT L-L-L-LIIIIKE IT ONE BIT!"

"Maybe you just need to give it another try Weiss! He was REALLY good!"

"I W-Wooouuld... Nnnnnnnnnot. be opposed.... to... maybe.... another... try. Just to confirm for sure that... THAT NOISE.... is not REAL music!" Weiss strained.

Ruby grinned already plotting to get Weiss to listen to another song.

NO ONE could resist the power of Rock and Roll!

So I was thinking of giving Team SSSN their own enemies. If only to have something to do with them...

Henrik van Groente, he's an allusion to the Flying Dutchman, sharing a first name and his surname being Dutch for the color green like the SpongeBob version of the character. His Semblance is Wind and he's a boat captain that Neptune and Sun used to play pranks on.
Moog Bowser, he's an allusion to the Demon Bull King from Journey to the West, due to Sun being named after main character, and an allusion to Bowser due to one version of the DBK being an inspiration for him. His Semblance is fire and he's a turtle Faunus that Sun used to also prank.
Peter Rochefort, a corrupt policeman with a metal peg leg, he's a few allusions to Captain Rochefort from The Three Musketeers , that one time he was played Peg Leg Pete, and to Long John Silver. Seeing as Scarlet has a shout-out to Captain Hook, and I love the idea of Hook and Silver having a rivalry, naturally he and Scarlet are at odds.
Oluf Glob, this is something Andrew helped with. He's an allusion to The Bishop of Börglum and his men and a Grimm cultist that Sage stopped in the past. Nothing much to say on him, at the moment.

Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress) New
I know I'm on a bit of a Knightshade kick. I blame Coeur for that. But nothing is wrong with some good ole Black Sun. So to celebrate that I give you...

Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress)

"Yang I can walk on my own!" Blake grouched as she was steered and pushed into the room.

"And if I let you, you're going to walk on your own right back into the library. Stop being such a Sour Puss and come spend time with us." Yang said as she maneuvered Blake into the common room. The secret Faunus had been obsessing too long over the White Fang to the point she wasn't sleeping and it showed.

Blake was forced into the middle of the couch and pinned between Nora and Yang as Ruby, Weiss, Pyrrha, and Ren were crowded around the couch.

"What do you think Jaune wanted to show us this time?" Ruby asked eyeing the drum set that had been there since he'd tried to woo Weiss with a song.

"So long as it's not another attempt to ask me to the dance." Weiss grumbled before lifting her nose to the air. "Neptune already asked me and I agreed." She said Imperiously.

"Speaking of, Blake you're going." Yang informed her.

"No."

"You don't get a choice. You're going."

"No."

"Blake."

"N-"

She was cut off as three individuals shuffled forward taking their places.

Much like last time, Iella and Iessa Artic strode into view taking their places. Iella standing next to the drum set with Iessa wearing a bass. This time however, Jaune was with them and he just walked into view. The twins taking their customary bow as Jaune did some last second tuning to his guitar.

"Shh! It's starting!" Nora hissed.

First there was silence. Then Jaune started playing alone.

This went on for a few seconds with only Iella adding in a few beats. Eventually both twins kicked in alongside Jaune.

As the trio started playing... one Sun Wukong strode in with an exaggerated strut bobbing to the rhythm before he turned to face couch and looked right at Blake.

Everyone's eyes went wide.

"Noooo..." Blake whined.

"OH YES." Yang and Nora chorused at the same time.

Sun inhaled and started belting out.

"Saturday niiight I was DOWN TOWN!
Woooorkin' for the EFF BE EEYYYYYEEE!
Siiiittin' in a nest of BAD MEN!
Whiiisskey bottles pilin' hiiiIIIIIIIIIIGH!"

Weiss blinked. "Huh... Wukong isn't half bad.

"I know right?" Ruby cheer clapping along.

"Booootleggin' booozer on the WEST SIDE!
Full'a people who are doing wrooooooong,
Just about to call up the DEE AYE MAN!
When I heard this woman singing a sooooooongHOOOOOOONG!"

Everyone looked at Blake.

"Do you sing?" Nora asked.

"Nooooo." Blake whined trying to hide behind her hands.

"A PAIR OF FOURTY-FIVES MADE ME OPEN MAH EYES!
MY TEMPERATURE STARTED TO RIIIIiiiiiIIIiiiiiIISE"

Sun pointed directly at Blake.
"She was a long cool woman in a BLACK DRESS!
Just a five nine, BEAUTIFUL, TAAAAAALLLL"

Blake started to turn pink as she squeaked causing Yang and Nora to both start making scandalized siren noises.

Sun dragged a hand over his face deforming it slightly for the next line before letting go.
"Just one look I was a BAD MESS!
'Cos that long cool woman had it alllllAAAALLLLLLL!"

Jaune at this point went to play an instrumental solo.

"Sun please staaaaap!" Blake begged him. "This is embarrassing!"

Sun instead completely ignored her as the solo ended doing a mid-air jump split.
"WOO!"

Nora completely lost it falling over into Blake's lap laughing and keeping her pinned as Blake tried to escape. Yang grinning as she seized onto her partner.

"I saw her heading to the TA BLE!
Well, a tall walking big black cat."

Yang grinning like a mad woman went to tug off Blake's bow. Blake responded by throwing her arms protectively over her head letting everyone see her burning face.

"When Charlie said," Sun whirled pointing at Jaune who sung the next line. "I hope that you're able, boy!" before Sun jumped back in.
"Well I'm telling you she knows where it's at!"

The lights in the room suddenly cut out before going red and flickering in a way that made them seem like they were spinning.
Sun continued on unphased.
"Well, suddenly we heard the SI RENS!"
Sun mock jogged in place.
"And everybody started to run!"
He turned back going the other way with a jump and a roll."
"A-jumping under doors and TA. BLES!
Well, I heard somebody shootin' a guuuuuunHUUUUUN!"

The light cut back to normal in the room. Sun came over and extended his left hand. Yang took it grinning as Sun shook it heartily.

"Well, the D.A. was pumpin' my LEFT HAND!"

Sun then let go and switched hands on the mic before taking one of Blake's
"And a-she was a-holding my riiiight"

Blake shook free but Sun simply leaned in to caress the side of her face with said hand.
"Well, I told her, don't get scared
'Cos you're gonna be spared!"

More scandalized noised from the other girls rose up as Blake started going from pink to red. Amber eyes trapped in Sun's blue ones. Mouth agape.

"I GOTTA BE FORGIVIN' IF AH WANNA SPEND MAH LIVIN'!
With a long cool woman in a BLACK DRESS!"

Sun tucked a loose strand of hair behind Blake's human ear.

"Just a five nine, beautiful, tallllll."

Blake expired on the spot as a steam puff erupted from her head. Pyrrha pouting at Jaune unnoticed.

Sun dragged a hand over his face again.

"Well with just one look I was a BAD MESS!
'Cos that long cool woman had it allAALLLLLL!"

Iessa and Jaune bobbing back and forth as they played the outro.

"Had it allllll,

Had it alllllllAAALLLLLLLL,

HAD IT ALL!

HAD IT ALL!

Had it all!

HMMMMMM Had it all!

She had it all..."

The band faded out as Sun held that pose with a winning smile. His abs on full display.

Blake covered her face with her hands again before erupting. "FINE! YES! I WILL GO TO THE DANCE WITH YOU!" Before Shadow Clone jumping free of the couch and rushing out of the common room.

"Shopping trip!" Yang declared before rushing after her partner grinning in total victory. She spun giving Sun the double finger guns. "I'll make sure she's ready! Just make sure to wear a tie or something!"

Sun double finger gunned her back as she left the room before turning to the band. "Thanks guys! Appreciate the help!"

"Ugh... no accounting for taste." Iella groused.

"Don't blame us if you wake up with fleas in the morning." Iessa said. "You can't trust those Menagerian Harlots."

Jaune held up a brofist that Sun returned. "Good luck at the dance Sun."

Weiss just sat there flabbergasted before turning to Ruby. "...WHAT. WAS. THAT?" she gestured wildly. "Blake was so adamant to skip out on the dance and then Sun just does... THAT and she changes her mind!"

Ruby put a hand of Weiss' shoulder. "That Weiss..." She said solemnly which freaked out Weiss even more. Ruby was NEVER this serious. "...that is the power of Rock. It compels all who hear it..."

The gears started to turn in Weiss' head...

Nora Pyrrha and team rwby are all take a test to see who would be their perfect man. Nora's is Ren Blake's is her hand everyone else Jaune.
Blake is Ozma. Ozma still cant find the person who made that test and somehow has all his personal details and even Salem is confused as her details are on this test and this test has exist for as long as they existed in their new life

Paralyzer New
And now for an all new, BRAND NEW, completely original entry into the Rocker!Jaune series!

Paralyzer

Ruby grinned, fangs on full display as the young Huntress turned Vampire for the night surveyed the party. As was tradition in the Rose-Long household, Ruby's birthday was celebrated early before the hours of trick-or-treating got started on Halloween proper.

Some of her friends growing up had asked her if she felt overshadowed sharing a birthday with a major holiday. Ruby never felt that way.

Double the sweets!

Double the cookies!

Double the festivities!

It was like the world celebrating her birthday! One big party and everyone was invited!

Yang, in her mummy costume (which Ruby was certain she was wearing ONLY the bandages and little else) had helped strongarm their more reluctant Beacon teammates into the party.

As for their sister team? They'd only had to mention the word 'party' in earshot of Nora and the Chaos Incarnate Orange shortstack had rough roughshod over her team dragging JNPR into the festivities. Especially since she got to become the Sloth Queen for the night. She'd tried to make it a whole team theme thing with Pyrrha as her Sloth Princess and Jaune and Ren as her Sloth Knights.

While Ren had simply accepted his fate, Jaune had vehemently refused stating he'd had other plans and showed up Jean Cinnamon of M.O.U.T.H. facepaint and all. Both Nora and Pyrrha had seemed slightly put out. Nora had had plans to get Sloth Knight Jaune 'betrothed' to Sloth Princess Pyrrha.

Blake and Weiss had been a little more resistant. Until Ruby revealed this was her birthday party. Weiss had immediately done a 180 and now Ruby and Yang had to hold her back though Ruby had quite liked the idea of an entire festival in Beacon's Courtyard. They'd managed to talk Weiss down into a smaller affair in order to get Blake on board and Weiss had thrown herself into it.

It had helped that Team SSSN had also showed up. Sun wanting to get in on the party and Neptune looking to try and pick up girls... of which sadly the ones invited knew of his proclivities so he spent the night sulking in the corner hoping the party after this would have better prospects.

Weiss maneuvered the room as the self-designated hostess. She'd gone all in on the whole 'Snow Spirit' deal and drifted through in a shimmering almost ghostly fashion. The uptight Heiress actually seemed relaxed and enjoying herself.

Blake who'd shown up as a Zombie was currently blind folded and stumbling slightly with Yang, Nora, and Sun shouting encouraging word as she tried to pin the furry brush on a cutout of a Beowulf.

All in all, Ruby's Sixteenth birthday was shaping up to be in the top five best ones yet!

Blake finally struck the Beowulf to the laughter of the Party Posse and pulled off the blindfold to reveal... she'd pinned it to the Beowulf's spine.

"Well that's an interesting mutation!" Yang quipped. Blake scoffed muttering about how if it had been 'slay the Grimm' rather than 'pinned the Grimm' she'd have gotten a perfect kill.

Nora had immediately agreed with Blake about the change in rules and tried to argue Yang to let her use her Hammer on the cutout for her turn.

Suddenly a metallic squawk drew everyone's attention.

Jaune had broken out his guitar. The Artic Twins, Iella and Iessa had somehow slipped into the room and had taken their places with Iessa on the bass and Iella at the drums.

"...How on Remnant did they slip THAT in here?!?!" Weiss screeched having ensure that no such setup had been in the room since she entered.

Iella wearing the classic 'Bedsheet Ghost' looked at her. Her grin hidden under the costume but making enough noise to be heard. "We're THAT good." She retorted.

Then Jaune started to play. A metallic strum before Iella went to work on the drums.

The three of them, Jaune, Iella, and Iessa started filling the room with the sound of Rock.

Cheers erupted from half the occupants and the room mostly congrigated around the improptu band.

Iessa paused as Jaune took over the vocals

"I hold on so nervously,
to me and my drink
I wish it was coolin' me."

Iessa came back in with the low base as Jaune continued.

"But so far has not been good,
it's been shitty
And I feel awkward as I should"

"Aw come on! It's not that bad!" Nora yelled back at Jaune who continued despite the heckling.

"This club has got to be
the most pretentious thing
Since I thought of you and me"

"Boooo!" Yang yelled. "Justice for the club scene!" Jaune continued.

"Well, I am imagining
a dark-lit place!"

The band picked up in crescendo.

"OR YOUR PLACE!
OR MY PLACE!"

Both Yang and Nora suddenly gasped covering their mouths. "Oh snap! Did Vomit Boy just go there? Is someone getting propositioned?"

Jaune walked forward and strode right up...

...to Ruby.

"WELL I'M NOT PARALYZED!
but AYE SEEM TO BE STRUCK! by yooooou..."

Everyone froze in that moment. Ruby went full on red and tried to hide in her hood of her cloak. Jaune continued undeterred dancing around her.

"I wanna make you move...
BECAUSE YOU'RE STANDING STILL!"

Nora broke the stillness first. "YOU HEARD HIM TINY RED! DANCE!"

"If your BODY matches what your eyes can doooooo...
You'll probably move right through.
me on my way to you!"

Jaune and Iessa paused letting Iella carry the song as Jaune returned to his place in the band.

"I hold out for one more drink...
before I think...
I'm lookin' too desperately"

"Booo! Yang your sister can't dance! This is her song and she's not dancing!" Nora challenged. Iessa cut back in to join her sister as Jaune continued to sing.

"But so far has not been fun...
I should just stay home...
If one thing really means one!"

"RUBY ROSE! You are NOT going to take that lying down! I REFUSE to acknowledge my sister can't have fun!"

"This club will hopefully... (will hopefully)
be closed in three weeks (three weeks)
That would be cool with me!"

"Not until Ruby dances it doesn't!" Yang growled. "Come on Ruby! This is your Party! You have to PAR-TAY!" Jaune cut back in to join the Artics in ramping up to the next chorus.

Well, I'm still imagining..
A dark-lit place!

"Come on Ruby!" Sun encouraged. "Jaune's dedicating this one to you!" Jaune came down to meet with Ruby again.

"OR YOUR PLACE!
OR MY PLACE!"

Ruby took a breath and started a tentative shuffle next to Jaune.

"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Yang, Nora, and Sun cheered her on. The reaper giving a tentative smile as Jaune shuffled next to her matching the awkward vibe like master dance partner he was ensuring Ruby wasn't dancing awkwardly alone.

"WELL I'M NOT PARALYZED!
but AYE SEEM TO BE STRUCK! by yooooou..."

Ruby started grinning openly and started to step more confidently along with Jaune who gently lead her as they stomped around each other in a circle.

"I wanna make you move...
BECAUSE YOU'RE STANDING STILL!"

Sun snatched Blake's hand and dragged her out to the impromptu dance floor. "Come on Blake! You're standing still! Move with the groove!" "WOAH! SUN!"

"YEAH! COME ON RENNY!" Ren simply lifted a hand and let himself be flung along with Nora.

Yang shoved both Pyrrha and Weiss into the fray. "Come on you two! We're hot and we're dancing!"

"If your BODY matches what your eyes can doooooo...
You'll probably move right through.
me on my way to you!"

The band played out the instrumental as the dance party took full form with Scarlet and Sage being dragged in while Neptune remained on the edge trying salvage his 'Too cool for school' image against the wall.

"WELL I'M NOT PARALYZED!
but AYE SEEM TO BE STRUCK! by yooooou..."
I wanna make you move...
BECAUSE YOU'RE STANDING STILL!"
If your BODY matches what your eyes can doooooo...
You'll probably move right through.
me on my way to you!"

"GO RUBY! GO RUBY! GO! GO! GO RUBY!" the people around her chanted as the power of Rock compelled Ruby to dance her heart out openly among her friends laughing even as Jaune moved with her still playing the song.

"NOT PARALYZED!
but AYE SEEM TO BE STRUCK! by yooooou..."
I wanna make you move...
BECAUSE YOU'RE STANDING STILL!"
If your BODY matches what your eyes can doooooo...
You'll probably move right through.
me on my way to you!"

"You'll probably move right through.
me on my way to you!"
You'll probably move right through.
ME ON MY WAY TO YOU!"

As the song ended, everyone cheered wildly for the birthday girl.

Embolden Ruby bounced up on her toes and kissed Jaune on the cheek. "Thank you..." she sottoed.

"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" went the scandalized siren of the crowd. Ruby snapped back to reality and turned bright red. A burst of rose petals as she zipped to the nearest hiding place... under Yang's hair.

"AH! RUBY! NO! NOT THE HAIR!"

Bringing over some more posts:

Alright! Time to hammer out some more villainous OCs to fill the antagonist gap. This batch of villains has no direct connection to Salem, as while she still needs more minions the setting needs more independent bad guys just as much if not more.

Also keeping with the theme of spooky month these OC's are inspired by the characters of a particular halloween movie. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out the reference.

So with that out of the way let me present The Bagman's Crew:

The Bagman: The individual known as The Bagman has unclear origins. According to most accounts he simply appeared in the criminal underbelly of Mistral one day and made a name for himself as the most terrifying hitman the city had ever seen. The mystery surrounding Bagman is only intensified by the fact that nobody knows if he's a human or a faunus on account of the burlap sack mask he wears over his head, which is part of a burlap sack style jumpsuit he wears under his working clothes. Over this identity concealing burlap he wears fine clothing befitting of a man of wealth and taste such as three piece suits or silken robes. Yet in spite of his wealthy garments the burlap mask is what most people remember, especially since nobody is quite sure how he makes eyebrows and mouth move.

While The Bagman started out as a hitman for hire he only remained in that position for about a decade, as he decapitated three of Mistral's smaller gangs (The Fiendish Fellowship, The Crone's Klatch, and The Boneyard Boys/Babes) and forged these former rivals into a singular gang known as The Bagman's Crew. The Bagman proved to have a decent head for leadership as The Bagman's Crew grew into one of the more powerful gangs in Mistral and serves as Spider's biggest underworld rival.

Today The Bagman leads his criminal empire from the comfort of his personal gambling den, where he frequently sets up life or death games of chance for people that fail to pay their debts to him or his lieutenants. If they win their debts are cleared, and if they loose? Well, don't ask what's in his personal stew...

The Bagman isn't human or Faunus, but rather a Termite King that somehow got its' aura unlocked and developed a hive mind semblance where it could forcibly make other arthropods part of his hive mind. The combined brainpower of the entire termite mound gave Bagman a level of intelligence comparable to a human's. Realizing how he could benefit by become part of human society he crafted a costume his hive could live in and operate, forging the identity of The Bagman.

Cinnamon Shocker: The Fiendish Fellowship was a gang that only recruited horned Faunus and leaned heavily into devilish imagery by making red body paint part of the gang's uniform. Cinnamon Shocker was a goat Faunus who got picked up by the gang at a young age because she managed to unlock her own aura. She rose through the ranks quickly thanks to her inventive cruelty, and she became the gang's third most powerful member.

She was there when The Bagman took over The Fiendish Fellowship, and was the sole survivor of the old gang's leadership. In awe of the carnage the Bagman wrought she swore loyalty to him and eagerly became one of his top enforcers, bringing the rank and file of the Fiendish Fellowship under his command.

Like all former members of the Fiendish Fellowship in The Bagman's Crew Cinnamon still paints her entire body red. New members of the gang are encouraged to chose one of Bagman's enforcers to emulate, and those who emulate Cinnamon adopt the same red body paint. When one of these younger gang members impress Cinnamon she will present them with a set of artificial horns to wear if they don't have horns of their own.

Cinnamon uses a wide selection of simple weapons in combat, but she usually prefers a baseball bat with a selection of spikes and nails driven into it with a pistol when she needs to shoot things.

She has also developed a strange friendship with The Bagman's other top enforcers, namely Lavender Locket and Basil Oaken-Barrel. The three of them frequently work as a team for The Bagman's most important jobs.

Lavender Locket: The Crone's Klatch was an all female gang that styled themselves as modern witches, mandating a uniform that included a witch's hat. The gang was also obsessed with the idea of broom racing, helping each qualifying member build and maintain a hover-bike or hoverboard decorated to resemble a witch's broom. Lavender Locket was recruited into the gang when she managed to beat a senior member in an impromptu race, impressing the gang's leaders. As the race was everything to The Crone's Klatch Lavender soon found herself the fifth highest ranking member of the gang.

When the Bagman demanded The Crone's Klatch work for him Lavender Locket was the only member of the gang's top ten to survive his carnage. Seeing that resistance would only get her and her junior gang members killed Lavender swore loyalty to the man in the burlap sack, bringing the rest of the gang along with her. Satisfied with her actions the Bagman made Lavender one of his top enforcers.

Lavender and the other former members of the Crone's Klatch still wear their witchy uniforms, although a boy's variant of the uniform has now been designed. This is because new members of The Bagman's Crew are encouraged to chose one of Bagman's enforcers to emulate, and Lavender never felt like her position was secure enough to say only girls could emulate her. When one of these younger gang members impresses Lavender she helps them make their first hover-bike or hoverboard.

Her primary weapon is her mechashift hoverboard-axe, though she also has a classical sling to help her toss dust grenades and other less sophisticated projectiles if she has to hit a foe from a distance.

Lavender's relationship with her fellow top enforcers has developed into a strange friendship, especially with Basil Oaken-Barrel and Cinnamon Shocker. Lavender is frequently paired with those two for The Bagman's most important jobs, and she works well with them.

Basil Oaken-Barrel: The Boneyard Boys/Babes were originally a family gang that owned a scrapyard and was willing to do some shady stuff to acquire more scrap to sell. Eventually the gang's operation grew too big for the gang to remain family only, and so they started recruiting friends they could trust. As this network of friends grew and the gang started holding territory they needed a way to identify one another in skirmishes... and if the mark of the gang made it harder to leave all the better. And so the gang started a tattooing ritual that tattooed each member's face to resemble a skull.

As time went on the tattoos grew more and more elaborate, becoming a full body affair for both men and women. As technology became better and better these tattoos gained more features, such as glowing different neon-bright colors on command when the tattooed individual wanted to be more intimidating (works best in the dark).

Basil Oaken-Barrel was born into the gang, and he diligently climbed through the ranks and earned his tats as one of the family's best leg breakers. Eventually he became the boss's left hand man, and he held the respect of the family. So when the Bagman came and offed the boss and the boss's right hand woman Basil did the best thing for the family and bent the knee, becoming one of the Bagman's enforcers and bringing the rest of the Boneyard with him.

The family's tats are still an important part of the new gang, as the Bagman encourages the new members of the Crew to emulate one of his enforcers. New Crew members that want to emulate Basil are given a skeleton themed costume to wear, and those who empress Basil will earn their tats.

Basil fights with a Ball 'n' Chain, though he also has a few bear traps on chains to act as a nasty surprise.

His relationship with the other enforcers is quite cordial, to the point that he considers several of them friends; especially Cinnamon Shocker and Lavender Locket. Whenever the Bagman gives Basil an important job he's normally paired with them, which suits him fine as he knows those two will do a good job watching his back.

Alright, so this gang could be used for a lot of Mistral based storylines. And The Bagman's status as a swarm of sapient aura capable insects could lead to a rather interesting final fight at the climax of a narrative.

But what do you guys think of this expansion to Mistral's criminal underworld? Do they fit? What kind of story would you use them in? And what details would you add to each of them?

okay the goblin smashed in my head with this idea

Jaune as a kid dug multiple holes around his families property looking for treasure but one day found an old vending machine he gets his dad to help get it out and everyone in the family is confused on why a vending machine is buried on the property Isabel thinks its from a drunken event of her and Nicks youth but Nick has a photo album with photos of all of those events and nothing to do with a vending machine and he said it was pretty heavy for an empty machine.

I will leave people guessing whats inside but it is not the isekai vending machine rencaration thing, another hint it is a save point and respawn point from the IP its from

-Blake has an ear infection in her cat ears but she's too proud and afraid to admit it. Jaune though notices it and tries to convince her to let him treat her problem. Hilarity ensues.
It was a beautiful day, Sun thought. The breeze, the shade of the tree, the buzz of distant bugs and the twittering of the birds made this the most relaxing napping spot he had found at Beacon.

Or at least it would have been if Jaune wasn't standing there first, waiting for him.

"Uh, hey Jaune, what's up?" The monkey faunus tilted his head in confusion.

That confusion doubled when Jaune marched up to him, grabbed him by his left arm and started frog-marching him across campus. Sun allowed this to happen because he didn't actually need the nap and could always take one later.

It didn't take long before the two of them arrived at an empty classroom where the rest of Jaune's team was waiting, along with most of team RWBY; Blake was noticeably absent.

"I found our next delivery vector," Jaune announced to his fellow hunters in training.

"Delivery vector?" Sun asked.

"Blake has an ear infection," Ruby explained, "And she's refusing to take her antibiotic."

"So that's why she's been wearing a different bow this last week," Sun snapped his fingers with realization, "To put less pressure on her ears!" Then he frowned, "She's not taking her medicine?"

"She's insisted it will pass normally, but then it got a lot worse," Yang elaborated with a high degree of annoyance. "So we tricked her into taking her medicine yesterday and the day before by sticking the pills into tunafish sandwiches, but this morning the pill crunched in her teeth and she spat it out."

"Alright, so how am I the new delivery vector?"

"You remember that trick you showed us a couple weeks ago, with the cherry stems?" Jaune asked.

"Oooooh, okay," Sun picked up what the other blond guy was implying. "What's the plan if that doesn't work though?"

"Pyrrha and Nora pin her down while Yang pills her, the rest of us hemming her in so she can't get away." Ruby answered, "If she's going to act like a stubborn house cat she'll get her medicine like a stubborn house cat."

"Well, my semblance would be useful for both hemming and pinning, so I'll stick around and help if this doesn't work."

Blake sat on a bench in one of Beacon's many courtyards attempting to read. The throbbing pain in her upper-left eardrum was unfortunately distracting enough that her eyes kept finding themselves at the start of the same paragraph again and again. She hadn't turned a page in more than ten minutes.

But she could endure. This was just a little infection. She didn't need any antibiotics or any other medicines to deal with this. It'd go away on its' own in a few days. She just needed to grin and bear it, and hide her weakness from those who didn't know for just a little while longer...

"Well hello there pretty lady," Sun's voice broke her out of ineffectual reading. She looked up to see the monkey faunus boy hanging from the tree above the bench just a little to her right, his upside-down face level with her own.

"Hello Sun," Blake greeted him with a small smile. "What brings you- mmph!"

Sun's lips crashed into hers in a passionate kiss that completely blindsided her. Her shock at Sun's sudden boldness allowed him to deepen the kiss, and soon his tongue was probing at her lips. Blake found herself melting into his enthusiasm and allowed him entry, and soon her own tongue was wrestling with his.

After a few moments of this Blake suddenly felt a solid object at the back of her throat, which she swallowed reflexively. Sun withdrew with a satisfied smirk on his face.

"What was that?" Blake asked with a strangely flustered panic in her voice.

"People often offer to kiss something better, I decided to make that offer true," Sun's smirk grew smug and smoldering.

Blake's jaw worked up and down as inarticulate squawking spilled past her lips, a blush growing on her face in spite of her indignation...

As a strong contender in Mistral's tournament scene Arslan Altan was no stranger to corporate sponsorship deals. Sure she hadn't gathered the kind of attention an athlete of her caliber could normally expect, but with the Invincible Girl Pyrrha Nikos sucking up so much of the audience's attention it was understandable. Unavoidable even. The fact that Arslan always lost to Pyrrha and was sometimes referred to as The Eternal Runner Up by some of the more crass commentators also hadn't helped with the sponsorship and endorsement side of her fighting career, but she still had some. Mostly from companies that couldn't land a deal with Pyrrha, but there were still a handful of sponsors that they shared.

Those shared sponsors presented an opportunity, a solution to the problem Arslan had found herself in.

The trouble had stared a few days after she had arrived at Beacon Academy. During a formal meet and greet involving all team leaders Arslan had found herself drawn to Jaune Arc, a young man as hansom as he was humble. She had gone out of her way to speak with him during the meeting and found him easy to talk to and she enjoyed his company.

Her next meeting with him was coincidental; Arslan had found a flyer asking for volunteers to help out at a local orphanage for a job that would take up most of the weekend and decided she would help. When she arrived at the orphanage Jaune also showed up at the same time and the two of them spent the next two days working closely together.

That time together, though brief, was enough for Arslan to know that Jaune Arc was exactly the kind of man she always imagined marrying someday. And so she approached Jaune on Monday to try her hand at flirting with him to test the waters, something subtle and low stakes. Her initial pass at him ended up being too subtle and was easily misconstrued as simple friendliness by her intended target, but Pyrrha Nikos saw it for what it was.

At that moment Arslan discovered that the Invincible Girl was also interested in Jaune, and things changed between them.

Back when both of them had been in the tournament scene Arslan had done what she could to foster a proper rivalry between herself and The Champion. At the time Pyrrha had been distant yet polite about it, polite enough that Arslan thought they had been on the cusp of becoming true rivals and friends in spite of how non seriously the Invincible Girl seemed to regard her at times.

Pyrrha was treating her seriously now. She had directly challenged Arslan to a fight at every socially acceptable opportunity, doing all she could to flex her martial superiority over Arslan in front of Jaune. Those fights had been exhilarating, pushing Arslan to her limits every time as she actually made Pyrrha sweat for her victories. On the combat side of things it was everything Arslan had ever wanted in a rivalry...

...But everything else about the rivalry was unhealthy and the exact opposite of what Arslan had hoped for. True rivals weren't supposed to hate each other, and it didn't take a genius to realize Pyrrha was starting to hate her over her interest in Jaune.

The Golden Lion of Haven Academy now stood at a crossroads. She could either back off from Jaune, abandon the pursuit of romance with the boy who was shaping up to be her ideal man in an effort to cool things down and preserve the possibility of the friendship with Pyrrha, or she could go all in on Jaune and abandon all hope of being one of Pyrrha's closest friends.

Neither outcome was ideal. She had been pursuing a friendship with Pyrrha since the very first time the two of them had clashed in the arena, to give that up was something she could not do. Jaune had been so kind and sweet to them during all of their posturing around him in spite of his apparent obliviousness to the fact that they were squabbling over him. He was so earnest and perfect that Arslan could no longer imagine being in love with another man.

Caught in what looked like a no win scenario Arslan had prayed and mediated long and hard in pursuit of a third option, and one of their joint sponsors had just given her a wonderful opportunity to make one.

"Good morning Pyrrha," Arslan called out when she saw the redhead in a mostly empty hallway.

"Arslan," Pyrrha acknowledged her greeting in a polite yet cold tone, barely hiding a frustrated sneer. "What do you want?"

"I'm sure you're aware that Magnolia Makeup is coming out with a new product line soon." Arslan pressed on undeterred by The Champion's poorly concealed hostility.

"I am," Pyrrha tersely replied.

"My sponsorship contracts stipulate that I won't endorse anything that doesn't work as advertised," Arslan explained. "As such I've been sent several samples from the first production run so I can personally test them before any photoshoots or filming can be scheduled."

"I see," Pyrrha frowned. "Why are you telling me this?"

Arslan looked around the hall as if she was making sure nobody was listening in, and then gestured for Pyrrha to lean in so she could whisper into the redhead's ear. Pyrrha rolled her eyes and complied, figuring Arslan had some kind of propriety information concerning the new products that could only be shared with her as she'd likely hear about it when Magnolia Makeup's add team inevitably contacted her mother.

The Golden Lion of Haven Academy whispered into the Invincible Girl's ear, and Pyrrha's annoyed expression froze. That wasn't proprietary information. That wasn't proprietary information at all. Her frozen expression slowly morphed into surprise as Arslan's whispering continued, and by the end of Arslan's whispered sales pitch Pyrrha's face was covered by a luminous blush.

Arslan pulled back and saw the impact her words had on her chosen rival, a triumphant smile gracing her lips as she could see the idea working its way through Pyrrha's mind.

"I take it you're interested in my proposal?"

Pyrrha took in a deep breath as her eyes refocused. "I... uh... I... yes." She managed after a moment. "Do you already have all of them?"

"I have all of them, and I have a room prepared," Arslan confirmed. "Should we go get Jaune?"

"Yes... Yes, let's go get Jaune," Pyrrha fully regained her composure as her eyes became steely with determination.

Jaune stared at the changing room mirror taking in the absolutely bewildered expression on his reflection's face. The reason for that bewilderment was readily obvious to any observer: the young man was on a couch firmly wedged between his partner Pyrrha on his right and fellow team leader Arslan on his left. The right side of his face and neck were covered in lipstick marks in various crimson shades, the left side of his face and neck covered by golden lipstick marks.

As Arslan wiped her lips with a wet washcloth Pyrrha gently grabbed Jaune's head and turned him to face herself, planting a kiss on a yet unmarked portion of his forehead. As she pulled away a new lipstick mark was clearly visible from where her lips had touched his skin.

"Oh dear," Pyrrha fretted as she prepared to wipe her lips with her own washcloth, "Fifty-five different tubes of lipstick and not a single one has been smear proof."

"It can't be helped," Arslan sighed as she finished applying a fresh coat of golden gloss to her lips, "We'll just have to keep testing them until we find some that actually work."

With that Arslan pulled Jaune's face towards her own and planted a kiss on his temple. As she pulled away she quickly took stock of the remaining lipstick; twelve more before they reached the ones that were actually supposed to be smear proof. And those actually smear proof lipsticks would also have to be tested vigorously, just to be sure.

Arslan rarely endorsed the entirety of a product line, but with how swimmingly this was working out the entirety of Magnolia's lipstick collection might just get her seal of approval.

this is for the ear infection one

Jaune: Look, see, if it's good enough for me, then it's good enough for- OH FUCK IT BURNS!!!!
