[RWBY] RWBY Shorts

Blake LIKES the chair. That's the issue. Need to get a hose to blast her with anytime she gets close.

Speaking of Blake, what if Tai and Summer treated Raven how Jaune treated Bad Idea Blake in GTSSW? In other words, got her pregnant regularly so she wouldn't run away and do something stupid. In that timeline, Ruby and Yang are roughly the same age because Raven and Summer got married to Tai at the same time. They probably have at least a few younger siblings each.

I'd say Ruby is more confident because she's the same age as everyone else and didn't skip two years worth of learning, plus Raven isn't going to let one of her daughters be super shy. Yang wouldn't have mommy issues either. Unless you can get mommy issues by having two mothers that is. Tai is probably going to spend most of his time tired.

Well in the GTSSW Blake-future it's more taking care of the kids that's keeping future!Blake from doing anything stupid as opposed to being constantly pregnant. Future!Blake hasn't actually gone through more pregnancies than the other future!wives, she just had multiples every pregnancy.

As for how such a plan might have worked for Raven? I don't know. Yang only remembers having Summer as a mom, so I was under the impression that Raven abandoned the family not that long after giving birth. If you're being a responsible baby making couple you don't try to get pregnant again before the baby can handle solid foods as a new pregnancy can interrupt lactation (because mother's milk at the time of birth is different than mother's milk after a few weeks and so the body wants to go back to the first kind of milk for the new baby). That means even if Taiyang and Summer were so inclined to keep Raven constantly pregnant to reduce the amount of mischief Raven could get up to there would still be a window where Raven would be recovered enough from the pregnancy to slip away.

That being said your idea touches upon something that mildly annoys me whenever I see it: stories where Summer's still alive and happily married to Taiyang and yet Ruby and Yang are still their only children.

Remnant is a deathworld so people on average should be having more kids than liberal first-worlders even in the urbanized first-world equivalent areas. Summer is part of an almost extinct bloodline with Ruby's existence proving that Tai's genes won't overpower what makes her bloodline worth preserving. If both of them are alive and together then Summer and Tai should be pumping out as many babies as they can handle plus one (because that's how you figure out what your limit is), so Ruby should be a big sister almost a dozen times over in any such scenario.

Sift is right.

I know I've pointed out how Jaune, Weiss, and even Ozma and Salem with their children were in a very exclusive club that should be considered the norm.

Hell I make the same lame excuses as Canon does for why Iella and Iessa are Kyinayes only daughters. Dead dad.

They ought to have at least three more younger siblings.

Seriously. Look even at the Belladonnas. Thats the most healthy couple on the board Canon wise and somehow Blake is an only child? With Kali as playful as she is, she should be almost neck and neck with Jaunes mom as a brood mother.

Yeah if you want to make the people are shocked when Jaune says he has seven sisters jokes work logically they you should have them being shocked at the sisters part of seven sisters instead of the seven part. His parents flipped the coin eight times and only landed on heads once, and that's unlikely enough to be surprising.

And the situation with the Belladonnas is definitely an odd one. That's why I went with the poison-miscarriage plot point in the GTSSW, because some kind of fertility issue is the simplest explanation as to why Blake is a single child.

Floating back a couple posts and back to here:

I thought Jaune/Weiss/Pyrrha was called 'Dream Come True' due to the canonical interactions between the three at the beginning where Pyrrha wants Jaune, Jaune is/was infatuated with Weiss, and Weiss was infatuated with Pyrrha.

Now as to the family size situation, I mentioned the seven sisters thing a few times in my stuff. Depending on how you want to do things, a writer could have that leeway of every hunting family can have a maximum of one son. Thus, you could end up with the probability of more women than men on the hunting side of the equation.

Granted, I've put the idea of Jaune's family lineage of only one son per generation as a plot point in my currently on hiatus 'No Secrets'.

Non-hunting families are true coin flips and could end up with 3 sons instead of 2 daughters and a son, or other combinations of sons/daughters depending on the number of children they have.

Though how would you categorize a marriage between a huntsmen family and a non-huntsmen family is dealers choice. Perhaps it's 2 generations of 'normal' and then it depends on what the offspring do. Or, and this could be a plot point. A hunting/non-hunting offspring goes through life and if they go into the life of being a hunter, they end up contracting something early on that makes their children be more daughters than sons. If they don't, it's unaffected.

I think I recall there was this one weird study into this kind of thing.

The stress of conflict and people dying triggers some kind of biological switch in women to produce more daughters than sons during high conflict for some reason. It's only during eras of peace that they will start to produce sons in equal number as daughters.

Something like that? My memory isn't perfect on why. It might have been some feminist rhetoric about women biologically revolting against the concept of war and not producing any men would help end things sooner. Or it could be more that they produce more daughters than sons because of the more scientifically sound concept that in order to have a proper population boom, one man can sire more children than women can birth children since women are the bottleneck in human reproduction.

Again my memory is a little fuzzy on the entire thing, I could be wildly incorrect about all this.

But it could serve as a basis as to why and is more a City/Frontier Settlement environmental reason. Women in the capitals/greater walled cities produce an even split of daughters and sons since they feel safe enough to conceive naturally. Stress does have an effect on pregnancy in a lot of ways.

Frontier settlements aren't as secure and constantly running the risk of attacks and destruction by bandits/Grimm. The stress of which ensures that women in general, and probably Huntresses as a whole, ensure they produce more daughters than sons because of that biological bottleneck.

Even if you take away the whole 'Legendary Arc Fertility' shenanigans, there IS a kind of natural inclination for one man to sire on many women. There is historical precedent to do so and a believed statistic that only a small percentage of men actually pass on their genes. (And considering the current state of society that's looking like it might hold more water than we think.)
