I had bits and pieces here and there.

I didn't decide one way or another if Jaune would have aura but I did want him to be stupidly durable, not like full on anime level but like if someone dropped a brick on his shoulder from four stories up a building all he'd have is a really wicked bruise and maybe a cramp.

A big part of the idea was going to be the big tug of war over Blake.

White fang want their weapon.

Salem wants a replacement for cinder. One stronger and raised by her.

Atlas wants to euthanize her because of safety concerns and racism.

Jaune has to deal with Aaaaall of that along with trying to make Blake a well adjusted little girl and save whatever scraps of her childhood he can. And he's still gotta make rent.

I wasn't quite sure how the dice would fall with the Ozpin/Beacon faction.

If Jaune doesn't get aura, you could have a really funny callback to one of his canon lines, where after beating someone with aura he says something to the effect of "Aura? What's that?" If you do give him aura, I don't think he should have his canon semblance. A semblance is a reflection of the person it comes from, and this Jaune isn't the bright-eyed young man full of dreams and passion. It should have some connection to his original semblance though. I could see a semblance that forces aggro or punishes attacking anyone but him to represent the part of him that will always put himself between harm and those he loves. Maybe a semblance that grinds down the aura of everyone around him at an equal rate, including himself, to reflect his slow loss of his old dreams, which would be very powerful with his stupidly large aura reserves and the fact that Blake doesn't rely on aura.

EDIT: Mundane basass Jaune sounds awesome, and I can't decide on whether I'd prefer that or an awesome awakening of his aura with a unique semblance. I'm leaning towards auraless, because of how I've literally never seen that though.
