Wait, Qrow mentioned that Amber was inexperienced with her powers... Which makes no sense given how Winter and Penny mastered their powers seconds after obtaining them and were already doing crazier stuff than Amber. Sounds more like a poor excuse by the writing team. For example, Winter had her Aura broken by Ironwood and was still able to go toe-to-toe against Cinder afterwards when she obtained the powers whereas Amber was completely exhausted and weak after having her Aura broken.

The real reason Amber lost imo is that she was like those two huntsman from the Argus train Dee and Dudley in terms of fighting prowess: Bottom of the barrel. Heck, her weapon is a Staff that shoots fireballs. Even Jaune's current weapon is more versatile than that.
