This is an interesting premise, I'm writing this at the end of Gaslighting, gatekeeping, planning, reforming. I just saw the video Ordinary Things did on Benito Mussolini the other day. Guy was a trip. You keeping Italy out of the war is actually a very good thing for Germany. If it wasn't for the Italians fuck up in Greece then the Germans would have attacked Russia before winter set in. Possibly taking Moscow and knocking the Russians out of the war.

Lots of typos and half finished sentences. Maybe lost in cross posting. Would have benefitted from another edit pass.

You don't have to tell us every other paragraph how you're disgusted by le evil racism or how propaganda is bad, and that your SI totally isn't racist and hates the "brain washing". Its a Benito Mussolini SI. If it bothers you that much add a disclaimer at the top of the chapter how your views don't reflect on content of the story, racism and propaganda are evil, blah blah blah etc. This is QQ. If people can write about fucking kids, dogs, and whatever else. No one sane will raise a fuss over someone conforming to the cultural norms of the 1940's. Especially a fascist Italian Dictator.

I mean. Italy was a chain around Germany's neck. Getting bailed out in Africa and Greece. A neutral Italy that gives Germany more access to markets it otherwise wouldn't have access too is a massive boon.

Of course that doesn't guarantee German victory, but it does improve the odds. More than you're probably taking into account. Especially because a lot of Americans were sympathetic to Germany. Double especially because England was the springboard. If England falls the US might not be able to effectively fight a land war in Europe. Triple especially with the Japanese running roughshod in the Pacific.

You're going into alt history and it could go any way. Is Hitler gonna get offed by Operation Valkyrie? Is Rommel not gonna off himself. Endless possibilities for a more reasonable Germany without Hitler's meth addiction getting in the way of military planning. Maybe a fun Nazi Civil War.

Oil is one of Germany's biggest limitations. One of the may reasons they invaded the Soviets. To get secure access to oil from the Caucasus region. Libya actually has the largest reserves of oil in Africa. In the global top 10. A neutral Italy providing them oil would be more in their favor than Italian troops fighting the French or British. With Italian oil, Germany could fight longer and harder.

Maybe they kick off Operation Sealion with all the extra resources they have access to.

It's also mentioned that he's taken X territory "without firing a shot" too many times to count. Like a bad catchphrase.

Also, for someone who hates Hitler so much he's pretty okay with Stalin. The guy who killed way more people than Hitler ever did and in ways just as horrible.

Honestly, he should be working towards helping Germany succeed in Operation Barbarossa not hamper it. Then plotting to have Hitler assassinated and help the military take over. A lot of those generals survived the war, like Adolf Heusinger, chairman of the NATO military committee from 1961 - 1964. Divying things up with Stalin just doesn't make sense. Seeing as Russia's whole mission during this time is to turn the whole world communist. Giving them more territory means more resources. Means they might not collapse or they might collapse more violently.

Could take advantage of the fact that Hitler is a nut job and when Hitler rejects the STG, then Italy can swoop in a take over the whole project to rearm its military.

With how much this SI likes city pop, you'd think he'd have reached out to Japan by now because they're part of the Axis. Give them oil or get a Japanese mistress. Something.

City pop isn't even that great a genre of music. Not for how much the SI waxes poetic about it every chance he gets.

Just caught up the the end of the war in Europe. Great job. Liking it overall a lot more. War sucks ass and this fic does a good job of it. Look forward to reading the rest. Now we've added some 80's music. Still not the biggest fan, but it's been reading better overall.

Finally caught up. I'll say it's interesting. Do you actually reply on QQ or just AH?

Curious to see how many scientists, engineers and technology they can steal from the corpse of Germany. Italian Panthers and Jets would be interesting. Also maybe Nuclear research. Seeing as SI knows what the Americans have, he should make his own bombs before the US does a funny and nukes Rome.
 
This is really good, I like the fact that people actually recognise him as the insane mad man he is. And not just accept him as sacrosanct. Also your prose is really skillful and poetic and ways

These interludes are interesting. Hopefully we see WW3 breaking the Soviets in multiple pieces. You engineered the death of Nazi Germany. Now you gotta do Soviet Russia.

Are we gonna get a Japan interlude? All this love of city pop and not one interlude with the Japanese. Nominal allies of Germany and Italy in the Axis.

And maybe an update on tech. See all the new toys Italy has scavenged.
 
At this point I expect Mussolini to get an aneurysm before 1945. Or maybe he'll reach some sort of inner peace. Both are interesting in their own ways.

Although I wonder how SI is dealing with the debilitating stomach pains that'll have him writhing on the floor. Side effects from the training accident in WWI.

also interested in the fate of japan and asia when a fully functional united states with warnings about pearl harbor can much more easily protect asia from the "red menace" and the japanese never get to invade half of east asia. will we get Chiang Kai-shek china, communist china or something different? Same with the fall of japan, without the string of early victories against the USA, and a much less debilitated USSR, does japan surrender to the USA or will it attempt to fight out the russian invasions from manchuria
 
I'm rooting for Italy to go all in on nuclear power and space exploration. Mine those asteroids. Become the richest empire in history. WW3 will also be fought in space.
 
I love this story, the Duce is flipping over the table and causing utter chaos just because he can. He is going to be remembered as the Madlad of Madlads.
I have to admit I would love to see a Soviet & Allied file on the psychological profile of the Duce. Especially after he just so casually laid out on the table his plan for Peace through Terror & Mutually Assured Destruction. It's real if I cannot have my cake, I'll burn the house down with everyone in it attitude.

I litterally kept hitting fast forward to see if I could finally get to the good part, but I ain't find none. Honestly, man, if MC's taste in music is this lame, then he TOTALLY deserves everything that's happened to him so far.😮‍💨
