Tanya’s Hogwarts Adventures (Youjo Senki, Harry Potter)

The man seemed scared of Tanya for some reason, which amused Harry. Sure, Tanya was good at magic, but she was not going to hurt anyone. She liked theater club and flying, not dueling. And she was always trying to keep everyone calm. She was a very peaceful person.
"Yes...the subterfuge is working..."

"Anyone know about a second year girl?"

Tanya turned and spoke up. "Is it Lily?"

The prefect nodded. "She's been petrified."
"OH WELL I TRIED!"

You know I wonder if Hogwarts itself helped set things up to protect its charges from the Basilisk. Like in most cases they're far from the bathroom and it has more ability to set things to prevent death, while with Moaning Myrtle she was unlucky enough to be directly there when it opened to let the beast out.
Well every single case of the petrification was arguably lucky when you realize that a genuine, direct look at the eyes of a Basilisk straightup kills you outright.

I dont know how... 'alive' the castle is, and im pretty sure several instances were due to the Basilisk just not fully opening its eyes? But its not a stretch to assume Hogwarts itself purposefully made them hit with only the petrification. Because being dtoned, er, turned to stone, is better than death.

Scattering sparks of thought energy
Lily Moon

Exploring the castle was a fun activity Lily did rather often. So many nooks and crannies to find. Why just today she found a classroom on the second floor behind a door pretending to be a wall. A boring find since it was just a dusty old classroom, but it was a secret classroom so there was something neat about that. Maybe there are secret classes taught in the secret classroom, but if that was true, the room would not have a layer of dust over it, would it?

Having found something though, Lily determined she should head back to the Gryffindor tower so she could tell her friends all about it.

"Hello Colin," Lily said to the camera loving first year.

"Oh, uh, Lily, right?" He asked, nervously, fiddling with his camera.

"Yeppers," Lily said, striking a pose. "I just found a hidden room!" Colin's camera flashed, taking a picture of Lily in that pose. Lily smirked as she sidled up to Colin. "I'll show you it another time, but I gotta get back to the dorm room and tell my friends all about it!"

"Sounds great," Colin said, swallowing thickly.

Lily bounded over to Colin and gave the boy a hug before skipping off. She was taking a path that was a bit less direct, but she liked going through the hallway with all the suits of armor. She once tried to compliment Mr. Filch on how shiny he got the armor there, but the meany head just growled at her, causing Lily to flee.

Lily tripped. There was nothing to trip over, but she suddenly was falling forwards. She tried turning and her eyes caught sight of one of the suits. So shiny you could see your reflection in them.

Eyes.

Yellow eyes.

Lily could not move. She knew her body thudded against the ground, but she felt nothing. She could still see the suits of armor, but could no longer see the eyes. Indeed, she was looking mainly at the wall between armors, unable to move her eyes.

She could not move.

She could not speak.

She had a mouth trapped partially open, and could not scream.

She was on the ground, unable to move.

She heard someone find her. She did not feel them touch her. She did not feel when she was lifted up and moved. She saw the castle float by.

She saw the Hospital Wing and heard as Madam Pomfrey fussed over her. She did not feel the softness of the bed or the warmth of the blanket draped over her.

Lily felt nothing. Smelt nothing. Tasted nothing. She could hear those around her and see what was directly in front of her eyes.

Lily could not sleep. She was aware of it getting dark in the room. And then light.

Time meant nothing until a mop of blonde hair along with curly brown, straight brown, and black came to visit.

"Madam Pomfrey said we could visit you," Tanya said.

If Lily could, she would have smiled and hugged her friends for visiting, exuberantly telling them everything.

Lily could not read Tanya's expression, so stoney that it was like she was the petrified one. Hermione and Lavender and Paravati were all sad, tears prickling their eyes.

Lily wished she could feel the hugs Hermione, Parvati, and Lavender gave her, or the hand Tanya laid on her shoulder. All she got was the sight of them doing it, but could not feel it.

It was almost like ice was in her blood. The lack of sensation painfully prickling at her constantly.

After a few words were said, Tanya told the others to go on without her.

Now alone, Tanya looked Lily in the eyes.

"Madam Pomfrey said you might be somewhat aware of your surroundings." Lily wasn't sure, but she thought Tanya might be stroking her head. "I don't need you falling behind in your studies more than necessary."

Lily would have smiled at Tanya pulling out the Snape puppet if she could.

"I'll need to make you some puppets of the other professors, but…" Tanya cleared her voice and put on her best Snape impression. "Today class, we will be covering the subtle art of transfiguring a toad into a stool…"

Lily watched and listened as Tanya performed a one person puppet lesson for her. She tried answering the questions asked in her mind when the puppet Snape asked them.

It felt like too soon before Tanya had to leave.

The boys stopped by briefly, but as the light faded and returned, Lily looked forward to when Tanya would visit. She didn't know how long it was between the visits, but Tanya would break out puppets, some of the ones Lily made and some that Tanya had made.

Lily could tell Tanya was good at the constructing part, but… the McGonagall, Flitwick, and Sprout puppets were really bad. Lily loved them anyways because her friend made them to help her with the classes she was missing.

The pain of not feeling anything slowly died down as Lily continued to not feel anything. And the only time that seemed to really matter was when Tanya visited. It was the closest way to mark the days Lily had as everything else blurred together, even the visits of her other friends who tried talking to her, but kept saying the same things each time.

Time spun and lost meaning.

Only the Tanya Puppet Pals brought Lily back to herself. Reminded her of who she was. Reminded Lily she was Lily Moon, a student and friend to Tanya Degurechaff.

It was only in watching the puppet shows that Lily was Lily. The rest of the time she ceased to exist, just a frozen body with a fractured mind.

Albus Dumbledore

Dealing with a petrified student was a rather simple issue compared to a resurgent Voldemort that was laying low. It was unfortunate that all of the normal potion ingredient channels seemed to be out of mandrake due to a recent outbreak of Viscera Veil and flesh eating slugs eating up crops, but Sprout was working on a crop in her classes so it was only a matter of time before young Ms. Moon would be cured of her current malady.

Far more concerning was that Voldemort was not just laying low, but had not even summoned his Death Eaters to him in over a month and a half. A month of his movements being untraceable. Students were to go home for the holidays in the morning and Albus would have the rest of the month to attempt to counter Voldemort's plans, but where to start? How do you counter what you do not know is coming?

How do you counter something most would not believe without evidence to put in their face?

The ministry would not take a single move to add extra security around Azkaban without proof of the threat. They would not even accept any of his arguments to get rid of the Dementors any of the times Albus had previously brought up the issues with using Dementors as guards, why would they move now?

Albus had sent letters to a few members of the previous Order of the Phoenix to start gathering steam there, but with such limited resources what was there to protect first? Harry was already well protected by the ancient magics his mother had gifted him in her sacrifice, but where else? What else?

Albus sighed before straightening up as he was alerted to a guest coming up the stairs to his office. The gait of the strides and opening of the door without knocking could only mean one individual.

"Ah, Severus. How may I help you?"

"I just got back from a rather important meeting," Severus Snape said scowling. "Voldemort has been hiding out at the Malfoy's for some time now. And SHE has just recently decided to gather us together to discuss HER plans."

Albus blinked for a moment before leaning forwards, a glint in his aged eyes. "I'm sorry Severus, but you seem to-"

"Voldemort is a woman." Severus interrupted. "Whatever method she used to return to physical form has caused her to come back as a woman. I'll let you take a look at my memories of the meeting later, but we have more important things to deal with first."

Albus schooled his face into seriousness and nodded. "Yes yes. I agree. There are more important things to deal with, though I would be very interested in learning of what method he used to return with. But first, what is he planning?"

"She is planning on breaking her other servants out of Azkaban, both to reward her most faithful and as a way to undermine the minister."

Albus nodded, having suspected a breakout was on the table. "Sadly, there is not much we can do to stop the breakout as the minister is unlikely to believe increased security measures are necessary." Albus furrowed his brows before asking a question. "Did Voldemort say why he wants to undermine the minister? I would think with how much influence Malfoy has garnered over Fudge that Fudge would be a useful puppet for them as things currently sit."

Severus nodded gravely. "She is planning on installing Malfoy as minister. Use the breakout as an excuse to force a vote of no confidence followed by Malfoy running a campaign to be the new Minister of Magic. Control of the highest office without open violence and no one in the public any the wiser."

Albus felt a shiver of fear run down his spine. This was insidious. He could easily throw the plan off by stepping into the ring and taking on the role of Minister himself, but it was a step he never wanted to take. It was too much power. Too much temptation for Albus. No, he would need to find another for the role.

Albus briefly looked Severus over as an option, but quashed that thought quickly. Severus was a trusted agent and capable as a double agent spying on Voldemort and the Death eaters for him, but he was also not trusted nor well liked among the populace.

But there was one man Albus could think of that was generally well liked, trusted, and was already within the ministry so stepping up into a new political role would not be too outrageous.

Convincing Arthur to run would be tricky as the man loved his current position within the ministry and had no further ambitions as his life was as perfect as a man could possibly desire, but the man did have a sense of duty that Albus could lean on. If he learned of what was coming, then surely he would agree to run.

Albus rubbed his temples as he sighed. "This is going to be tricky. I trust you will keep me up to date on any further maneuvering?"

"Of course," Severus agreed with a sneer as though the question itself was insulting. "What are you planning?"

Albus looked Severus in the eye and weighed his options. "I am going to have to help run a counter campaign against Malfoy. I just hope the man I am hoping to lean on is willing to step up."

Arthur Weasley

Arthur was not a terribly complicated man. He had a steady job dealing with muggle artifacts, a wonderful wife that filled his chest full of love, a gaggle of children he loved dearly, and a warm hearth to come home to every night. What more could he want? He could spend his weekends either in the company of his wife, or sneak off to the shed in the back and work on his hobbies experimenting with muggle artifacts, like his Ford Anglia.

Everything he could ever want he already had and anything else he may need was just a matter of budgeting time and money to eventually get.

So he did not think too much on receiving a message from Dumbledore for a personal meeting. Perhaps the twins had caused a bit of mischief just before the winter break. Regardless, Arthur stepped up behind Molly, gave her a gentle hug and kissed her on the cheek.

"I'm sorry, but Albus asked to see me. I'll try to make it quick."

"Oh, what does the Headmaster need that couldn't be said in a letter?" Molly asked, twisting in Arthur's arms and returning the hug briefly.

"The letter did not say, just that he wanted to speak with me about something. Shouldn't take too long, then we can get on our way."

"It better not, Bill will be waiting for us and I do not want to keep him waiting."

"Of course, dear," Arthur said, giving his wife a quick peck on the lips before taking a pinch of Floo Powder and tossing it into the fireplace. "Hogwarts, Headmaster's Office."

The fireplace erupted into green flames and Arthur stuck his head in, contacting Dumbledore directly in a call.

He was quickly answered and invited to step through.

"Thank you for answering my summons so quickly, Arthur," Dumbledore said, smiling kindly as he offered Arthur a seat and a lemon drop.

"Not a problem Albus," Arthur said, taking the seat. "I hope whatever the twins might have done, this will not take long. The missus and I were just about to head off to Egypt to visit our eldest."

"The twins have not caused much trouble so far," Dumbledore said, setting his candy dish down and taking on a more serious look. "I suppose I'll cut to the chase then. I want you to run for Minister of Magic."

Arthur's mouth fell open as he processed what Dumbledore just said. "Me? Why me?"

"You are a good man, Arthur. I fear we will need good men in key positions all too soon."

"Ok. I suppose I have a few years to think on it, but I'm not sure about this."

"I'm afraid you will not have years. There are certain individuals who are planning on pushing for an election much sooner and while I would like to counter their endeavors, I feel my efforts are better spent helping the right man get the position instead. I want you to be that man."

Arthur looked like a fish surprised to be on shore as he flapped his mouth open and closed before he swallowed thickly. "I'll need to talk with Molly about this," he finally managed to get out.

"Of course," Dumbledore said, standing up and helping Arthur back to the fireplace. "Maybe the two of you could talk it over and think about it while in Egypt. I'm sure the sun and space will do you some good as you think it over."

Arthur just weakly nodded as he was sent home to a wife that grew concerned at his dazed look.

"What is it?" Molly asked.

"He wants me to run for Minister of Magic."

"Oh, that's nice," Molly said, smiling for a moment before what her husband said fully sunk in. "HE WHAT!?"

Always love me some Electric Mind 👍

"He wants me to run for Minister of Magic."
Arthur's in an... interesting position. 6 sons, 5 of whom become extrememly competent and important, but he's such a muggle-weeb the entire ministry looks down on him.

If Albus manages to get him in, that'll be an epic feat on the lines of his defeat of Grindelwald!

As to how well he'd do as minister... hard to tell.

On one hand, he's really good at his job.
On the other, as we get to see a LOT with credentialism fails, expertise in one field Does Not infact mean capability in another.
On the third tentacle, his predecessor was fudge and his rival is Malfoy.

Arthur for MoM and the Baron pulling a funny and bringing Voldemort back as a woman so much earlier has thoroughly derailed the canon plot.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes next! Thanks for continuing to write this story even after so many years.

Sometimes bad things take the place where good things go New
Draco Malfoy

In the comforting green of the Slytherin common room, Draco sat comfortably before the fireplace looking at the latest pair of letters his parents had sent him. Letters sent by different owls. Letters signed separately. Letters that contained reassurances.

Draco had been forced to admit he was not the smartest, best student of his year due to his friendship with Tanya and her flock of Gryffindors, but he was still among the best and brightest of the year. Especially without the absurd anomaly that was Tanya. So it was little surprise that he could read between the lines and see what was happening. He did not want it to be true.

He loved his parents.

But it seemed that maybe they did not love each other as much as they might have once. That the marriage was going through troubles and was devolving into just a political marriage.

"Something wrong?" Goyle asked, looking at Draco.

Draco crumbled the letters in his hand and shoved them into his pocket. "It's nothing," he said sharply before looking at the time. "Tanya is probably done visiting her friend, we should head up and meet her."

Crabbe and Goyle both nodded and joined Draco in heading out of the Common Room. Most of the students had left for the Winter Break after Tanya's silly little friend got petrified.

A basilisk was the most likely creature that was going around the castle. Petrification was a rare result of seeing one, only possible when seen through reflective surfaces and not directly into its eyes, but it also fit the parameters the best.

There were multiple long lived serpents that were effectively immortal as they shed their old lives as they shed their skin and are renewed for some time. Any of them could have been the monster of the great Salazar Slytherin, but adding in the ability to petrify, no matter which method, narrowed the list significantly. Checking both Ms. Norris and Tanya's friend revealed a lack of wounds to their petrified forms. That did not rule out venom entirely, but ruled out venom only delivered by bites.

From there, how to acquire a member of the species along with the Basilisk being known as 'the King of Serpents' meant that they were the most likely option.

It took multiple people from each of the houses coordinated by Tanya to figure out the most likely creature as part of a 'group research project' as Tanya called it. It had taken a lot of effort reading through the different books on the various creatures of the magical world to whittle the options down, but they had found an answer.

And with the most likely answer came strategies for traversing the school. Avoidance of directly seeing the Basilisk was the top priority. Tanya began walking around with one of her school ties around her eyes as a blindfold, navigating the school by touch and sound. Those who attempted to copy her quickly gave up as they tripped, ran into walls, and injured themselves in various ways.

Now, most students carried mirrors with them to check around corners and moved in groups with who did the checking around the corner rotating through in some manner. As Crabbe and Goyle were mostly with Draco as guards and followers than actual friends, they were switching back and forth checking for him and Draco was, hopefully, safer than most. All it took was sharing more of the care packages Draco got from home than he normally would have shared.

So the three boys carefully opened up the entrance to the common room and Goyle used a mirror to check both directions down the hall before the three slipped out, staying close to the walls of the hallway. Moving carefully to the next corner and checking both ways, Crabbe and Goyle switched at each corner to check, always looking at the mirror to look.

So far no Slytherin had been attacked and Draco was certain the 'Heir to Slytherin' would not dare hurt a student in Slytherin house. However, Tanya had made a good case that it was likely that Ms. Norris may not have been an intentional target and, even then, an abundance of caution was warranted when a creature capable of killing people with a mere glimpse into its eyes was on the loose.

There was a brief attempt to figure out how to kill the beast, but the only known way to for sure kill it safely was very helpfully and in a manner that hadn't been suspicious at all, been killed. A rooster's crow was the answer the research group had found, and Draco had already known that the oaf of a gamekeeper had a herd of his own, what with the lovely reminder he got every morning. Not anymore, though.

During one of the Magical Language Club meetings before the lessons began, Tanya had presented their findings to Dumbledore on what they had found.

Dumbledore had seemed pleased and congratulated their efforts and promised to get some new roosters as soon as possible in hopes of dealing with the threat. Weeks later and it seemed Dumbledore was frustrated at the endeavor.

The first roosters acquired were not too difficult, but it seemed that the Heir was smart enough to be on the lookout for roosters showing up and endangering Slytherin's beast, killing the roosters. No one had seen who had done it and follow up attempts at getting more live roosters was becoming increasingly difficult during the winter months.

Draco and the rest of the Magical Language Club got an impromptu lesson on farming practices that Dumbledore admitted he had just learned as part of acquiring a new flock of roosters.

Farms apparently only rarely needed roosters as they were only really valuable for keeping the number of chickens at a sustainable level. Hens were the valuable chickens as they laid eggs and provided meat while roosters at best could only provide meat. So most farms kept a minimum ratio of a dozen hens to a single rooster and most kept even more hens than that as they did not want every egg fertilized. Many of the hens were meant to only produce unfertilized eggs for human consumption.

On top of that, there were methods to check the gender of the chicks shortly after they hatched. Hermione seemed very upset to find out that male chicks, as they were basically just a drain on the farm's resources, were culled rather harshly with barely any kept alive to grow up. Draco was not exactly comfortable with learning that either, but he felt he had hid his feelings as well as Tanya had. The rationalization that no matter what the chickens were destined to be killed for their meat and that culling the male population of chickens, if they were of so little value, was likely the most efficient usage of resources the farm could reasonably do.

Draco chose to suppress the knowledge as best he can as nothing he did would change the natural order of how farms worked and would just put him off of eating chicken. While it wasn't his favorite meat, he still liked roast chicken.

The trio made their way up to the Great Hall where the twelve trees were decorated, a light snow was playing on the ceiling, the house tables were pushed to the sides for a single table that the remaining students would eat at with the teachers.

Harry, the Weasley's, some firstie Gryfindor and firstie Ravenclaw, Tanya, and the Slytherin trio were about the only students that had chosen to remain over the break. There were a few older students in the fifth and seventh years who had stayed to study for their OWLs and NEWTs, but they were not coming out of their rooms much and barely seen at all.

Draco scowled at seeing Lockhart already at the table talking to Flitwick about something or other. Hermione seemed to be the only one fully believing the ponce's abilities with most of the other lovestruck girls only enamored, seeming willing to believe maybe there was some hyperbole to his books, but they always pointed out how pretty he is.

Draco took a spot as far from where Lockhart chose to sit and was glad to see Tanya enter the Hall shortly after. Especially with the flash of fear that crossed Lockhart's face. Some thought it was from the way she dealt with the Pixies during the first day of class, but Draco doubted that was right. Pixies were pests, hardly worth getting upset about how they were eliminated.

"Well, this has been a delightful discussion, but I really should get ahead of planning my classes for the next semester," Lockhart said, getting up with a grin showing off his brilliantly white teeth before he quickly made his way out of the Hall.

There was a noticeable relaxation from most of the table at seeing him off.

"Professor Lockhart seems rather uncomfortable with you," the Ravenclaw firstie said to Tanya. "I think the wrackspurts are causing him to see you as some horribly scary creature. Like a Hakuturi."

Tanya took her seat at the table and asked, "What is a Hakuturi?"

"They are a type of forest sprite. Can be rather vindictive if harm comes to the forest without their permission."

"Ah, like the Kodama!"

Draco tuned out the discussion as the two began discussing various forest spirits that populated different woods around the world. The winter break was quiet and Christmas was to be soon upon them. It was a lovely time to be at Hogwarts, even with a monster roaming the halls.

The Daily Prophet

MURDERERS BREAKS OUT OF AZKABAN!

Late Christmas day it was revealed that a mass escape from Azkaban Prison occured. Previously thought impossible, the Ministry of Magic is in an upheaval attempting to find out how this occurred and how to prevent further escape attempts.

Cornelius Fudge, Current Minister of Magic, had the following statement to give:

"We find ourselves in a most unprecedented time where eleven prisoners have found a way to escape. We are attempting to find how they accomplished this, but have little information to go on. The Azkaban Guards are on the case, hunting for these fugitives and will be apprehended. If anyone sees any of these escapees, do not approach. They should be considered extremely dangerous and it is best to avoid contact. Inform the ministry as soon as you safely can of their last seen location so that we can capture them swiftly."

The eleven escapees were all loyal followers of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named including his most dangerous servants of Sirius Black, Bellatrix Lestrange, Rodolphus Lestrange, and Rabastan Lestrange. Previous crimes and profiles of all eleven escapees will follow on pages 8-11. It is likely that they will seek revenge for their former master and the Ministry is providing extra protections around Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to defend the Boy-Who-Lived from possible attacks.

Amelia Bones

Amelia Bones scowled as she roughly put the paper down. The dementors they had guarding the prison were the worst possible option for trying to hunt down the escaped dark wizards. Fudge had gone over her head and made a foolish decision to send the dementors across the country in order to find the eleven escapees.

The Aurors under her Department of Magical Law Enforcement would have been a far better pick as they dealt specifically with Dark Wizards, knew how that sort of scum thought and operated, and could more effectively chase them down. The dementors may not be completely mindless, but they would wander the countryside hoping to stumble upon their targets, frightening and endangering civilians all the while.

If Amelia was not so committed to her duty, including following the orders of the Minister no matter how ass backwards stupid those orders may be, she would call Scrimgeour into her office right now and give him the orders to hunt those damn Death Eaters down.

Amelia took a deep breath, grabbed her mug of tea and took a long drag of the tepid brew. She wanted to go into Fudge's office and kick his ass until he agreed to a better path, but she would keep her cool. Perhaps she would run for the position next time there was an election. The worst part of political positions were always the politicians in those positions always focusing more on their image than actually getting work done. And Amelia would make sure work actually got done with that power.

Ah yes tell me again Ameila how you would be better? Oh what? Instead of doing your Goddamn job irrespective of the minister's stupidity which is actively going to endanger the lives of thousands of muggles and wizards across the country you're just going to do nothing and let him make a mistake to take advantage of the political fallout with a better public image? Tell me again how you're any better than the political ilk that you present yourself as.

God this Amelia Bones is so damn unique the vast majority of fics one sees has her as a competent straightlaced badass instead of the more realistic take of a conniving political backstabbing bitch for her to have reached her position within a corrupt ministry like Wizarding Britain's.

Thank you. I have so much inspiration to take from. And why would anyone think I would keep a political election to just two candidates? I like the messiness.

Side note: Hot Fem Voldemort on Bellatrix action is possibly occurring in the background. Possibly while Bellatrix's husband watches. Possibly in Lucius's bed.

Just some fun thoughts I can't actually write as an omake as this is in the SFW section.

From the sounds of it, going along with the Minister's stupidity IS her job, which would honestly explain a lot about canon.

Nah her job is to go in and do what is required irrespective of politics or advantages that could be encountered, it's not like Fudge is a dictator him simply going over her head and directly ordering dementors across the country when it is under her purview is not only an insult its overreach and Amelia if she had a decent bone (pun intended) in her body she would say 'fuck this' and just get the job done. Hell on the off chance that the MoM really does have no limits or checks and balances, then Amelia herself should have still acted to coordinate with the demenotors to best search the country and establish a clear line of communication and reassure the balance of power between dementors and law enforcement. As it would still be under her purview her not doing so is dereliction of duty....IE she's a conniving backstabbing bitch and is too blind to see that fact. I was hesitant on Dumbledores pick of Arthur before but now I'm 100% backing his choice.

Ah, so you're saying Amelia should launch a coup to overthrow the ministry because of this? Or do you think it would be better for Amelia to quit letting the Minister appoint some idiot who won't complain instead of doing her job as best she can despite the Minister's interference?

I expect her to do her goddamm job, she just threw up her hands and decided to let things happen as they may in such a manner that effectively endangers the populace. Her job is to manage all magical law enforcement within Wizarding Britain be that apprehending criminals, to managing the dementors to organizing the search efforts etc....yeah perhaps Fudge has the capability of ordering the dementors around though I would highly doubt it, but if even if that were the case it would still be Bones job to liason with those damn things to more effectively mitigate the drawbacks of utilizing them within the search be that to confining their search area to having someone supervise them so they don't go on a rampage across the magical/muggle world.

The fact that the very first thing she does js just throw up her hands and say 'oh well', Fudge fucked up. How can I benefit from this? As her first thought and primary motivation is what my problem with her is. I have worked for a number of morons over the years and let me tell you, you have to work around their stupidity at times, and sometimes they learn from their mistakes sometimes they don't but the important thing is, is to mitigate the fallout and damages caused by dumb and dumber when you work for a moron...you would be surprised on the number of promotions, raises and other opportunities one accrued from doing that instead of playing politics since people actually notice that fact and appreciate it even if you have to follow the letter of the orders you are given.

The fact that Amelia isn't even attempting to mitigate the damages is damming in my eyes. She is seemingly not going to lift a finger until Fudge has fully ruined his chances....I'm halfway hoping that this bites her in the ass with her niece becoming a victim of the dementors since she refused to coordinate with the things or really do her job in spite of the incompetency above her. That is my problem with her.

I expect her to do her goddamm job,
She is. Her job is to enforce the laws and stop those breaking them, possibly also protect people as best she can within those constraints. Her job is NOT to stop the elected government from engaging in poorly thought out policies that risk people's lives.
Amelia is the head of law enforcement, she is not allowed to make policy, or decide what laws she wants to enforce. The government made a legal (although stupid) decision, and she (like everyone else in the country) will need to live with it. That's her job.

What you're proposing is that she launch a coup.
