Chapter 1

Being a baby again sucks. Why couldn't I have gained the standard infantile amnesia and skipped this phase of being a toddler. Or better yet, why couldn't I remember my past life when I was five or eight!!

Instead I'm stuck in a baby crib being absolutely bored out of my mind and I hate it.

"XXX" My new dad speaks in what I assume to be Japanese or Chinese

"^^^^" With my new mom replying back.

Urrgh I was stuck inside a baby's body and I couldn't understand what was being said. Though that gave me a thought.

Normally in the isekai genre Japanese people die and are reborn in Western-European worlds or countries. So maybe I was in the reserves situation of being reborn in an ancient Japan or China situation.

….I really hope I was reborn in an ancient Japanese country because if I was in a China expy I would most likely have to deal with xiaxia levels of bullshit.

"XXX" My father cued me as he pushed his right index finger on my right cheek. I glared at him but he just smiled at me.

"^^^" My mother said something as she pointed towards the door. My father complained but one quick glare from my mother was enough to shut him up. As my father handed me to my mother and left, my mother started taking off her shirt.

…I was about to breastfeed, weren't I?

…Well shit.

After my mother was done feeding me, she placed me back into my crib. I stared at the darkened room with nothing but boredom and hope.

Hope that I wasn't reborn into ancient China or Japan on regular old Earth but instead a fantasy setting. Hope that I could start an early training arc to get as strong as possible like what Rudy from Jobless Reincarnation did.

So I focused all my concentration into my hand, squirting my baby eyes so hard that it hurt. For nearly five seconds nothing happened and my hope that I could live every anime fan 's was almost shattered but once I opened my eyes I saw it.

It wasn't anything special, at least in terms of design. It was a simple spear with its only thing noteworthy was the metal tip was white. Yet even with my eyes and true idea of what was happening I knew the name of the spear in my hands.

Then everything clicked into place.

I was reborn into the world of Highschool DxD as the Leader of the Hero Faction and wielder of the strongest Sacred Gear made.

The battlefield still burned.

Smoke drifted across the plains of Guandu, carrying with it the scent of ash, blood, and broken dreams. The banners of Yuan Shao, once so numerous they had hidden the horizon itself, now lay trampled into the mud beneath the boots of weary soldiers. Cries of victory echoed through the camp, yet they reached me only as distant murmurs.

So this is what victory looks like.

It was not glorious. It was not clean. It was simply survival.

When the campaign began, every man beneath Heaven believed Yuan Shao would crush me beneath the weight of his army. He possessed greater numbers, richer lands, and noble blood that countless scholars praised without end. Even my own officers had worn concern upon their faces, though none dared speak it aloud.

They looked upon our enemy and saw inevitability.

I looked upon him and saw weakness.

Strength is not measured by the number of swords one commands. It is measured by the will to use them before hesitation dulls their edge. Yuan Shao possessed everything a ruler could desire, yet he spent his days listening to voices that feared action more than defeat. Every council became another debate. Every opportunity became another question.

While he searched for certainty, I chose.

History belongs to those willing to act before history chooses for them.

The wind stirred the torn banners at my feet. Somewhere nearby, Xiahou Dun laughed with the men, his booming voice carrying over the camp. Dian Wei would have laughed just as loudly.

For a moment, my eyes closed.

Dian Wei.

Guo Jia.

Those who should have stood beside me today.

Victory has never returned the dead.

The world remembers the triumphant general riding through cheering ranks. It does not remember the empty places in those ranks, or the names that no longer answer the roll. Every triumph I claim is purchased with lives entrusted to my command.

That is the true burden of ambition.

I opened my eyes and looked north.

This victory changes everything, and nothing.

Yuan Shao is broken, but the realm remains divided. Warlords still carve apart provinces as though the people are livestock to be traded. Children still wake to the sound of marching armies instead of birds. Farmers still abandon fields to become refugees.

Peace remains as distant as ever.

A soldier approached and knelt.

"My lord, the men celebrate your victory."

Our victory.

I almost smiled.

"They have earned their celebration."

The soldier hesitated before speaking again.

"My lord... everyone said we could not win."

"No," I replied quietly. "They said I could not win."

There is a difference.

They judged armies.

I judged men.

A kingdom is not won by possessing the greatest strength. It is won by understanding the hearts of those who oppose you. Every fear. Every desire. Every flaw.

Yuan Shao wished to appear wise.

I wished to end this war.

Only one of those desires demanded action.

I walked through the ruined camp, passing abandoned armor and shattered siege engines. Every step carried me farther from the battle and closer to the future.

Some call me ruthless.

Others call me a tyrant.

Perhaps they are right.

Compassion without resolve prolongs suffering. Mercy shown to those who would plunge the land back into chaos is cruelty visited upon the innocent. There are choices a ruler must make that no virtuous scholar would ever accept.

Yet those scholars sleep safely because someone else bore the weight of making them.

If history remembers me as a monster, so be it.

If the people inherit a land where children no longer fear the coming of armies, then let every curse fall upon my name.

Reputation is the luxury of lesser men.

Results are all that matter.

I stopped atop a ridge overlooking the battlefield one final time. Fires still smoldered beneath the darkening sky, each one marking the end of another man's ambition.

How many more fields would burn before the realm knew peace?

Too many.

But fewer than yesterday.

Behind me, my officers gathered.

"Cao Cao!" Xiahou Yuan called. "The men await your orders!"

I rested my hand upon the hilt of Heaven's sword and looked toward the distant horizon.

One victory does not unite the realm.

One battle does not end an age.

There would be more campaigns. More sacrifices. More impossible choices that only I could make.

The burden remained mine alone.

Good.

Better that my shoulders carry it than the people of this fractured land.

I turned to face my generals.

"This battle is over."

They stood silent.

"But our purpose is not."

I looked beyond them, toward a China still divided by pride and endless ambition.

"The realm has taken its first step toward unity."

I drew a slow breath.

"And until every corner of this land knows peace..."

My voice carried across the ranks of Wei.

"...we march."

I awoke from my dream…or was it a memory, with startling clarity. I took a simple but strong breath that helped calm me down.

I grasped my hands only to see my spear materialized into my hand. I look at it with awe and contemplation. In the anime and from what I remember from the DxD wiki the True Longinus wasn't all that impressive.

But that can be chopped up to Ishibumi being a hack writer and just wanted Issei to have the coolest Sacred Gear. So instead of focusing on what I know from my past life I should figure out what my spear can do myself.

I took a breath before trying to manipulate the Holy Light of my spear. I small orb of light separated itself from my spear. I moved my left hand and the orb followed.

I breathed and smiled at my accomplishment. Good I have something to train and keep myself busy as a child. Though I do wonder if I could use magic.

The only thing I remember about the magic in DxD is that humans have to use some sort of calculations to use magic while every other species can use magic naturally. Simply because most Supernatural races have innate magical reserves.

Which was fucking unfair but if there is a will there is a way. I tried focusing on me when I first tried to use magic and accidentally released my spear. So instead I focus on the world around me and shaping it to my will.

….Minutes have passed and nothing happened. It seems like magic was going to have to wait a couple of years.

I breathed before I opened my mouth to cry.

[Six Years Later]

I took a breath as I planted the rice seed
The mud squished between my toes as I carefully pushed another seedling into the flooded field. I straightened my back and looked across the paddies.

Green.

Everywhere I looked there was green.

I took a breath as I looked around the farmland. Rows upon rows of rice stretched across the countryside, broken only by narrow paths of packed earth and the occasional irrigation ditch. Beyond the fields stood a cluster of houses, their tiled roofs shining beneath the afternoon sun.

I wiped the sweat from my forehead.

Six years.

Six years since I had awakened as Cao Cao.

While most of my time I was focusing on experimenting with my Sacred Gear and training my body as best I can, the rest of my time was spent helping my parents farm.

I took a breath as I looked at the work I did on the farm. I planted every rice seed given to me by my father and finished it before noon. Meaning I can go train by myself in the mountains.
I picked up the small wooden bucket beside me and carried it toward the edge of the field. My father was already working on the other side, his back bent as he planted another row.

"Father," I called.

He looked up to see my side of the field was already done. My father smiled at that before he ruffled my hair.

"Just be back before sunset." Father said

"Of course." I said as I ran towards the mountains.

As I was running towards the mountains I took a breath before speeding up. At first it was hard to notice as I wasn't exactly the most athletic person before but I realized I somehow acquired super human abilities.

Which was a good thing mind you but the problem I didn't know how. Sure I had some suspicions as I know Ki was mentioned in Highschool DxD but it was more of a vague term and power then anything else.

Which is something I found frustrating. I got into DxD because of hot anime girls. I was young, but as I grew older my love for the series turned into contempt. The series became a professional glaze fest for the perverted Issei to show off to his shallow harem and to show the world Devils aren't that bad.

The world building suck as it was just made to make the Devils look good and most importantly the power system was vague as fucked!!

Meaning I had to stumble upon the rules by myself. Since I know Ki is a thing I decided to use Dragon Ball and Hunter x Hunter method. Training my body and meditating to focus my energy throughout my body.
I took a breath before focusing on my body. I remember punching down a tree. I remember making a dent in a giant rock. I took a breath as I felt my Ki rising from my skin. The color of my Ki was a whitish grey, when my Ki surrounded my body I took a breath before practicing with it.

Ten would be my foundation: maintaining energy around my body instead of letting it leak away. I closed my eyes, slowed my breathing, and focused on the strange sensation I'd felt during training. Eventually, I felt a faint warmth spreading through my body and surrounding me. It was weak, but it was there. After hours of practice, I could maintain it without constantly concentrating on every part of my body.

I remember during the Chimera Ant arc where Gon and Killua had to keep their Nen up for at least three hours before Biscuit considered them strong enough to help with the extermination mission. So my goal is to keep my Ki up for four hours.

I took a breath to recenter myself. I was laying on my back feeling the exhaustion that using up all my Ki left me. It wasn't as bad as it was when I first tried it as after the first time I couldn't move my body for at least an hour. Now it just left me feeling exhausted.

I took a breath before getting back up and summoned my spear into my hand. The True Longinus had a simple design as it was just a simple roman spear. There were no ornaments or anything that make it stand out in an anime full of cool looking weapons and powers.
I stand with one foot slightly ahead of the other, my knees relaxed and my body balanced as I grip the spear with both hands. I draw the shaft back toward my body before extending it in a straight thrust, using my legs and hips to drive the movement rather than relying only on my arms. After each thrust, I pull the spear back into guard and repeat the motion, practicing strikes toward different heights and angles until the movement becomes smooth and natural.

As I improve, I begin incorporating footwork and manipulation of the shaft. I step forward as I thrust, retreat while pulling the spear back, and pivot from side to side while keeping its point directed toward my target. I practice rotating the spear through my hands in controlled circles, sweeping it across my body before bringing the point back into position. Eventually, I practice with a partner, guiding his slow thrust aside with a small deflection before stepping forward with a counter-thrust, repeating the movements until my hands, feet, and body begin to move together almost instinctively.

I don't know if this was all me or Cao Cao but I'll take what I can get. Each thrust was natural if a bit clumsy as it turns out I had talent in spearmanship. Each time I finished a set I took a breath before continuing on.

Nearly an hour or two of training with my spear I stopped and sat down in the criss cross position. I took a breath before Holy Light enveloped me.

The Holy Light was warm there was no denying that. I felt safe as if there was someone who I trust looking after me. It was both very thoughtful and a bit concerning but my spear did have the Will of God in it so not that unusual.

I had the Holy Light shaped into a sphere and had it float a bit higher to my head. Then I changed the shape from a sphere to a cube. A cube to a pyramid. A pyramid to a car. A car to a ship. A ship to a plane. With every shape I took a breath.

An hour passed and I was done making complex shapes from my Holy Light. I got up and breathed once more.

I did my usual workout routine last so I have enough energy to push my body to its limit. I got on my arms and began doing push-ups.

"1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9…10"

[ 1 year later]

I stare at the yakuza…no Triad members who I killed a mile or two away from the village.

Turns out my parents were having financial troubles and decided to sell me off to the Triads to save their own asses. Something that should have pissed me off but strangely I didn't care. Sure they took care of me and there were fond feelings for them but…

I honestly don't know. Hell I kill these triad guys like it was no problem. No hesitation, disgust, or even guilt was I always like this? Or is it because I know that I'm in a death world that change made me harden my resolve to kill my opponents?

I took a breath before choosing the direction to where the mountains were. I don't know the specific location of where I was going but anywhere is better to corpses.

I'm seven years old. Given the anime version of Cao Cao he was around his early twenties meaning I have at least thirteen years before Issei becomes a Devil. I don't think that's a lot of time given all the threats out there and my own plans.

But I'll make it work. Afterall I'm going to be the Hero who will change the world.

Core Elements
Ki: Life energy that resides in all living beings that grants them increased physical attributes. By training your body or practicing the Anapanasati (mindfulness of breathing) can one increase the amount of Ki ones have along with increasing their physical strength.

Senjutsu: The ability to use Ki to directly wield the natural world such as controlling the elements, befriending animals, and manipulate another Ki flow

Mana: is the greater source of magical energy found in the atmosphere of the Earth.[1]​[2]​ The meaning of mana is approximately the same as that of Polynesian cultureWP​.[2]​

Western Magic: Solomon created the foundations of Human Magic, at least in terms of the Western side, in order to compete with the Supernatural Creatures. Western Magic focuses on the direct control of magic through Spells that follow the principle "Mind over Matter." Merlin further the magic by providing humans with a formula that dramatically increases the understanding of how mana interacts with the world.

Eastern Magic: Focuses more on the indirect use of mana through talisman, movement, and prayers.

Demonic/Cursed Energy: A fundamental power source, born and fueled by negative human emotions like fear, anger, grief, and regret. Every conscious being generates it, but only Devils and a few humans can use such energy.

Blessing/Miracles: Blessing is power granted by Angels or Gods to mortals.While Miracles are holy power generated by a person's faith in a given Angel or God.

Slayers: Slayers are full blooded humans who achieve a state of being that allows them to surpass their biological limitations allowing them to reach Ultimate or even Deity status. This state of being comes from intense personal hatred towards a Supernatural race and when a human becomes a Slayer they are the natural predators to the Supernatural Race that grows stronger for each one they kill.

Soul Inheritors: Humans who achieve great things in life receive a Karmaric Balance which allows a part of their souls to reincarnate into another human being. It is not a perfect reincarnation but a chance for their ambitions or ideals to be reached by a human with a similar soul like theirs.

Hero Descendants: Humans that descend from Great Heroes and who have families that train them to reach the heights of their ancestors.


Weapons
Demonic/Cursed Weapons: Weapons that hold a significant amount of Demonic/Cursed Energy that grants them tremendous power but they also have some level of sentience depending on their strength. Demonic/Cursed Weapons, such as Balmug, Gram, and Caladbolg prefer people who understand that their lives won't get a happy ending as the Fate of all the wielders of strong Demonic/Cursed Weapons with a mountain of regrets.

Holy/Blessed Weapons: Weapons that hold a significant amount of Blessings/Miracles that grant the users tremendous power in exchange for living to a strict deal or ideal. For example Caliburn was a sword forge from the Heavens and held the authority of the King. Which allowed Arthur Pendragon to unite Britain under his reign however when he broke the chivalric code in order to gain an advantage over his uncle Vortigern it broke.



Sacred Gears-The 13 Longinus
True Longinus-The Spear of Destiny: In its base form it is a simple Roman spear lacking in any ornaments. The bladed part was created by using the nails that crucify Jesus to the cross while the shaft was made from the wooden cross. In its base form the True Longinus has three abilities, passive Holy Light creation, Anti-Evil Properties, and God-Slaying capabilities.

Zenith Tempest: Is a basic necklace that allows the user to control the weather or create natural phenomena at will.

Annihilation Maker: Can create matter at will along with adding unique properties to it if they are able to as adding properties is dependent on the user instead of the sacred gear.

Dimension Lost: Allows the user to view alternate realities, travel through the dimensional rift, and create their own pocket space that is able to block Gods from entering if the user wishes.

Boosted Gear: A green jewel that appears as ornament to the users view as their ultimate weapon. It can me a gauntlet, sword, shield, or a spear but the ability remains the same. It doubles the wielder's physical and magic abilities every ten seconds. Along with giving the user a fraction of the Welsh Dagon Y Ddraig Goch Touki.

Divine Dividing: A blue jewel that appears as ornament to the users view as their ultimate weapon. It can me a gauntlet, sword, shield, or a spear but the ability remains the same. When the users touch their opponents they can divide their enemies attribute in half and add it to their own. Along with giving the user a fraction of the White Dragon Albion.

Regulus Nemea: A living sacred gear that roams the Earth. God of the Bible planned to contain the soul of the Nemean Lion into a jewel but the Nemean Lion did not allow this as he took the chance to control the metal of the sacred gear to create its new body. The Nemean Lion is able to cow those weaker than him into submission, split the sky, ocean, and ground with his roar. His claws and fangs can pierce through anything. Finally he is invulnerable to any outside attacks.

Canis Lykaon: A semi-sentient sacred gear in the form of a wolf with the soul of King Lycaon of Arcadia within it. The sacred gear is bound to its user along with having a strong compulsion to obey and protect said user. Canis Lykaon can control any wolves or werewolves nearby, manipulate shadows at will, create slashes of silver white and phase through reality.

Sephiroth Graal: Manipulates the core principles of life and death, granting its user the power to control and summon souls, mass-resurrect powerful entities, and locate any living or sealed being globally via a form of conceptual clairvoyance. Beyond basic healing, it offers true bodily regeneration, empowering living things with immense durability and even allowing the user to alter biological structures, such as reversing aging

Incinerate Anthem: A Holy Fire that is capable of burning anything so long as the user has the will to do so. The user is always able to freely manipulate any fire within a ten miles radius.

Absolute Demise: Using the corpse of the Jötnar King that controls ice able to freeze anything including time.

Innovate Clear: Allows the user to enter the Garden of Eden and create life but said life dies if it leave the Garden of Eden

Devils: They hold the same potential as Dragons with their long lifespans and inherent advantages of being able to use Demonic/Curse Energy since birth. However two things that stop them are their sense of time and the sin they embody. Since Devils are biologically immortal most don't see the point to religiously training as within a millennium they will naturally become an Ultimate class being. The second is the sin they embody, Devils that are embodied by Pride will see no use in training because they believe they are already the strongest. Devils that are embodied by Sloth will be too lazy to train seriously. Devils that are embodied by Envy will spend most of their time ruining their target. Devils that are embodied by Lust will spend time sleeping with anything that moves. Devils that are embodied by Gluttony will spend time gorging themselves. Devils that are embodied by Greed will spend time collecting what interests them. Devils that are embodied by Wrath will focus all their intentions on the person they want to kill and after the success will feel empty for a century or two before they find something to hate again.

Super Devils: Is not an actual rank within the power system in fact the term Super Devil is a propaganda piece used by the New Devil Government to prop up Sirzechs, Ajuka, Serafall, and Falbium as stronger than the Old Satans to keep the hardliners/traditionalist in check. While in reality despite the four of them having more Demonic/Curse Energy they are weaker then the original Satans. Despite Sirzechs embodying the concept of Destruction and Ajuka embodying the concept of Hacking. As Lucifer embodies the concept of Adversary, Leviathan embodies the concept of Chaos, Beelzebub embodies the concept of Corruption, and Asmodeus embodies the concept of Procreation.

Angels: Angels were born strong (Mid to High class) along with the ability to gain strength through following the path that the God of the Bible assigned to them. Which might limit them in terms of power progression in exchange that they have a steady and fast growth so long as they follow the path assigned to them.

Fallen Angels: Angels who abandon their path assigned to them will lose the ability to follow said path. While they may keep their current strength they are no longer guaranteed a steady and fast growth in exchange for more options to grow in power. Half Human and Fallen Angel are more like Devil in terms of potential without their procrastination.

Youkai/Fae/Nature Spirits: Beings that are naturally in tune with the world, able to wield Senjutsu and Youjutsu with ease.

Cao Cao/me do not like Issei or some of the main cast at all so that will bleed into Cao Cao's PoV. I will of course write them as they are protrayed in the source material without making them the worst versions of themselves but everytime Cao Cao interacts with them he gets super annoyed by them fast.

Issei: He is nothing more then a Perverted idiot who is has shallow as a man can get. He claims to fighting on the side of good but not once does he actively try to make the world a better place. Hell he put down a Reincarnated Devil rebellion despite knowing Devils like Didoria exists!!! Take away the Boosted Gear and he's nothing!

Rias: ...You had years. You know how strong Riser was. Yet you did nothing to prepare yourself to fight for your freedom. You did not train like you life depended on it. When you were about to face Kokabiel you refuse to even consider to call your brother. You put your pride over the lives of your friends and the peace between the Three Bibical Factions!!
