Video Games General

They surprise dropped remasters of Heretic and Hexen at Quakecon. If you already have them in your library, you should already have the remasters. On GOG, it's a separate download but I don't know about Steam. There's support for 16 player deathmatches and online co op and both games have a new episode to play.

How nostalgic. I finished Heretic in Co-op. The final boss was a nightmare to kill...

Other than some Factorio mods(which did it before Space Age which itself is an ascended mod), are there any other games where different planets/environments have "universal critical materials" in different states of matter needing to be processed differently? In addition to late game biome/planet exclusive materials. Mostly factory or supply-line games.

maybe Dyson Sphere Program

I've followed it before but I'm interested in finding other games. Not Satisfactory, or anything else that's mainstream.

I know there's multiple different 3D factory games but I forgot their specific names. I think one of them is a literal Minecraft clone based on an older factory/automation mod. Technic? The one where you can put down a metal 3D grid-thing to mine out an entire chunk along with different ways to automate crafting.

Not planets but try Anno 1800? It's the most complicated entry in that series until 117 comes out.

(I personally prefer 1404 and 2070.)

I've been playing Quasimorph for a few week straight since it's (hopefully) gonna see 1.0 release later this year. I have two saves currently, one on Easy so I could learn the mechanics and the other on Normal for my actual run.

So far so good. A bit behind on ship upgrades, but eh. I'm a RealWare and Coreward MG shill. RealWare for their ballistics, Coreward so I'll get GOD OF FIRE eventually. My current goal is to finally get a Phoenix Brigade Percy up and running, then to bring the GLORY OF FIRE to AnCapistan.

Has anyone made a spiritual successor to Army Men that double-downs on the free-for-all nature of having toys and figurines for units? Think: knockoff transformers, elite action figure commandos, Battlemace 40M miniatures, "Anime" figurines etc.

So to the surprise of no one, Sword of the Sea is pretty darn good (and really darn pretty).

Then suddenly on September 3rd 23:59
"Uh sorry guys, the building caught fire and took the game, it's code and all our backups out the game is no more. Please accept our apologies."
:V
The only copy of the source code will be transported through the mountains of Bhutan and be lost when the rickety plank bridge it tries to cross collapses.

Also, the ancient sage that initially wrote the code, on account of it traveling through the mountains of Bhutan, and enlightened the world with his boundless wisdom, happened to be fucking dead.

I just had the weirdest experience in relation to gaming in a long time.

It's about 8:40 in the morning, and, out of the blue, the leader of the Napoleonic Wars Clan I'm part of sends me a message on Steam, asking me to come onto Teamspeak (because, yes, we use Teamspeak).

So, I do that a few minutes later, and after getting a cup of coffee, thinking it's something serious, but, no, he just wanted to thank me for being a reliable Clanmate. Because apparently I'm always there when we have events, never complained when decisions are made, and even when there were technical problems because of a Mod, I still tried to be present, even if I had to leave because it wouldn't work on my end.

As you can probably understand, my first response was something like "Barlin, are you drunk?". Because it's a bit odd to be contacted for that before 9 in the morning. But, no, he was serious about it. Just expressing gratitude for being reliable.

Is simply being there on a regular basis that big of a deal for Clans? If yes, then it might be that my autistic ass never caught onto that, as I always figured "Well, I'm a member for a reason, I should probably show up. Otherwise, what's the point?" and kept it at that. I've been in a few Clans over the years (though never in a leadership position, and this is the one I've been part of the longest, given the others disbanded), and this has never happened before.

Can anyone else with Clan experience fill me in on that?

Never played that game but as a D&D player and occasional DM I can say YES.

You cannot believe the 'oh I'm coming' 'oh wait no I'm not' 'I don't feel like playing today' 'that was today?' and the like you hear constantly when it comes to scheduling games.

Thanking you for being consistent is pretty unusual, but he was probably either feeling altruistic or maudlin. Either "I should tell this guy I appreciate him." likely after some other idiot bailed for the nth time, or "I've just been reminded of my own mortality and I should say thank you to the people I appreciate just in case I don't get the chance."

Trying to wrangle legion members to show up to fight in Warflow was frustrating. All it would have taken them was clicking one button in as I recall 30 minute window but it could have been even longer.

I took that game way too seriously, though. At least I was able to pass my presidency by appointing a substitute for the weekend I was too busy to administrate our legion and then asked him to keep it after.
