I dunno if you mean in game but irl, if anything it was the Empire that hijacked the company lol. They (in particular Pitt) parachuted in someone who wanted to make a legacy for himself in to command the area, provided him political cover and basically told him "any excuse you can find to take land do it" and he promptly did just that while the company board malded because they were now stuck paying for massive expensive wars to take over and administer lands that weren't worth all that much compared to their highly profitable coastal possessions. Dude was also something of a nepotist and put his brother in charge of troops (you might even recognize said brother's title Duke of Wellington) which was unpopular with the other generals. It says a lot that when Pitt was no longer prime minister the board instantly threw him out.
As for when the empire ended up doing away with the company, that was after the sepoy revolt. There's a whole laundry list of reasons for why that one happened, but in the aftermath of it the empire basically used it as an excuse to take over the company's holdings there in full.

Not the first game to do the bodycam trick, but it still looks damn good. The grand total of plot explanation seems to be "Kill your captors. Rescue the others. Record every second of your revenge." Which honestly sounds good enough to me. Best of all, it's apparently out May 12.
 
Started playing Neverness to Everness. Not quite through the intro stuff yet, but I can already see it's got some feature bloat. But it is advertised as 'do anything' so I'm guessing they don't intend for you to do everything. They also tried to duplicate ZZZ's over-animation trick but their animators clearly aren't as good- it looks like just hammy overacting. It's not bad, just reaching and missing. Combat system is pretty basic for anime gacha games so far, though the switching mechanic giving buffs if you swap from/to certain elements in order is new to me.

Climbing and gliding aren't tied to stamina, which is neat for exploration. I haven't gotten to use a car yet, so I dunno about that yet.

...The rolling is an actual board game. You roll dice and wherever you land determines if you get good, okay, or great. Weird but entertaining? It's a little slow if you're rolling a lot, but you don't really roll that often in these games, so it's fine- I didn't look for a skip button, but I assume there is one.

I did get the banner character on my very first 10-roll for her, which is wild. She's the one that can walk on walls if you use her skill, for a bit.

Story's pretty standard for this type of game, lots of mysteries to start out. Your character is an actual amnesiac who appeared randomly with the last big disaster, so.

I will say the Anomalies are actually pretty well done, very horror themed. The first cutscene was really good. Very... Junji Ito almost, I think? Not actually familiar with that stuff, but it's been referenced to me before.
 
I'm going through prototype on pc and it's been immensely fun rven if I had to remember the unfun parts, somehow the story being segmented into hundreds of pieces scattered all over the world works?

It seems Shigeru Miyamoto has come out and said that Princess Peach and Princess Rosalina are indeed sisters in the games. The Switch version of SM Galaxy 2 also got an update adding an epilogue to the storybook bit showing Rosalina reminiscing about a little girl wearing Peach's big ass blue earrings.

I've heard back-and-forth on whether the epilogue is depicting Rosalina with a young Peach, or if it's depicting an adult Rosalina talking to her childhood self.

Reviewing the storybooks, I think Miyamoto's probably being an idiot? Rosalina did have those earrings in the original storybook but only after she'd grown a bit and settled into her role as the Luma's caretaker. Where Rosalina at the age of the girl depicted didn't have them and it seemed she picked up a pair resembling ones her mother used to wear.. Also we know baby Peach didn't have them so either way it's either they just decided to put those on Rosalina at that point or they screwed up and forgot Peach was in the Mushroom Kingdom as a baby and wasn't wearing them. Or they've just decided to pretend that didn't happen because Miyamoto doesn't think video game stories are real.

Friend gifted me Heroes of Might and Magic Olden Era. And after nearly hitting the two hour mark, I finished all the tutorial. A tutorial that should have only taken an hour, but fuck it, I'll admit to being fucked up and slower then I used to be thanks to medical fuckery.

So...It is Heroes 3, with some of the QoLs from 4 and 5 tucked into the corners so you don't have to use or notice them. Or if you do notice them, it shouldn't activate any feelings of rage from those that still hold Heroes 3 as the best Heroes game. So if you want more Heroes 3 with some upgrades and such that runs on modern hardware without any fuckery, yeah, Olden Era will make you happy. If you wanted series improvements and advancements... ehhh, you won't really find it here.

Not quite sure about the price tag... mostly because I've never purchased or gotten a Heroes game over a twenty.

Well I got tempted by Witcher III. Got a Promo for the Bundle at 240% off... that's a Joke. All three pieces were 80% off for the next 40 hours. Haven't Downloaded it yet. Slow computer, gonna do the 60GBs while out doing other things.

Also RuneScape is now doing the final month of DXP that has the DXP Store. So anyone wanting an XP boosting outfit or one of the niche cosmetics without needing to pay Real cash soon should take advantage of that and maximize time.

Blood West's DLC now has an established Price: 5$. Also the date got pushed back by the Beta on it lengthening.
