Actually, if they captured the alien and used the study of its genetics to make their kids modifications, that means the alien is at least over ten years old. According to last chapter, that's really bad, expert level bad. Worst, this one is smart enough to bargain with, which implies that it's going to modify itself quickly as it figures out what works best.

Depending on how old the alien is, this might be bad enough to win the planet, if the alien gets lucky in how the humans respond.

Edit: Oh, I just realized that all of the videos of the fights between mechs and aliens were implied to be publicly avaliable. What if the idiots have been training the alien? All of the mechs on the planet are very similar, what if there's one strategy that they're weak to?
