Why is site so often unavailable?

Been happening for a few days, try to get here and the site won't load. Or I login and then can't load any other pages with the error saying can't locate the site so it might have been moved or removed.

I also hit up sites like is it down, to double check it wasn't me and they couldn't connect either during those times.

Nope, found the issue. I can't do anything with ProtonVPN turned on. I can go to the home page perfectly fine but all others give me an error message saying it can't reach the URL as it is taken down or moved.

I tried different countries, USA, Canada, Poland, etc and no luck. If I turn it off though zero problems.

Can any mods or admin chime in to help? Cause for this I doubt it is client side as every other site works perfectly fine such as Fanfiction.net, SB or AO3.

Not sure why the home page loads no issue but any thing else is dead.

What country are you from? Cause something seems off if having the VPN on causes issues.

Lots of people use VPNs here (including me), so if it is the VPN, it's the particular VPN you're using, rather than all VPNs.

Huh... I'm sorry y'all I found the issue, tested it multiple times to be sure. Maybe. I went and used Firefox mobile, no issues. Brave browser is reading as the site isn't there. Wtf is wrong with Brave I have zero idea.

Still no clue why it then let me on the site sometimes when I didn't use a VPN? Something funky is going on.

Just for some context I use Proton Free version atm as the yearly sub for premium went off as I didn't renew right now. There was zero issues with premium in any country and these issues only started after I was back on the free tier plan.

But that doesn't explain why I'm good with Firefox on the same VPN server but of Brave.... So I'm thinking Brave update in the last few weeks broke something but I have zero clue what.

Could brave be using a private DNS server that's not available via your VPN? Though that would have likely completely broken your internet access via it.
Or that DNS has some sort of safety filter that blocks QQ.

Hmm, good point. Turned off Secure DNS entirely and then restarted Brave Mobile and it seems to work. One page, Register, was still dead but everything else seems to load fine.

Even with Proton on it is going now.

Secure DNS was set to automatic, which seems to mean it will switch to whichever it thinks is best? The listings are regular ones, Google and even one that has a Family Filter.

I'm wondering if that might have been the cause, Secure DNS was auto defaulting to use the Family Filter as honestly I don't go on porn sites with my tablet. The only adult site is this one for the stories. Don't know for sure as Brave doesn't say which DNS it is using just which it thinks is best.
