With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

The classic "king pretends to not be the king so as to get a genuine response from someone who doesn't know he's the king" maneuver.

About the only historical King I have ever heard of doing something like that? Is Gustavus Adolphus the Great A.K.A. "the Lion from the North" who used the alter ego of Captain Gars. Peter the Great of Russia did something similar by traveling to Western Europe where he went undercover as a common laborer to learn what he needed to modernize his nation.

I don't know how often it actually happened, but its a common story with numerous classic variations, the usual one being the king pretends to be a peasant to wander around find out how his people really live, often discovering that his 'trustworthy advisors' have been lying through their teeth and ripping him off.

'unusual'
'I'm', unless this is a particuarly English turn of phrase.
Thank you, corrected.
This is probably gramatically correct but the repeated 'culture/s' read weird. Maybe the first should be 'socieities'?
I think it's alright.
Who was Sir Daniel? I don't recall him from prior Fallout snippets.
He's one of the potential leaders of Stoon in the Old World Blues game. Between the cannibal, the monster-worshipping cannibal and the insane super mutant nightkin, he's the most mentally coherant choice.
Dueling scars, perhaps. Probably not with the sort of weapon he's carrying now. That's probably far more destructive.
Nope. That power armour isn't for show. Daniel has been in a lot of fights.
While he recovers? Although he could decide to abdicate and pass the throne to her if she rules well enough, I bet.

Hopefully it's just a case of exhaustion. Worst case, he's suffering ghoul-like manias...
That's the irony of the story. He rebelled against Gunn II partially because he was going mad, and then starts to head into violently angry senility himself. Passing the throne onto his daughter allows him to recover somewhat.

That suggests he's someone highly placed in the government. Bespoke tailored gear is not cheap.

The wheat sheafs definitely imply notable things: Plenty, hospitality and secure harvests. I wonder if the book is open or closed...
They suggest that Saskatchewan kept its classic heraldry in some form, but the book just makes me wonder if his house is also associated with the University of Saskatchewan.

Well, at least they know how to be stylish in their armour. Most power armour in Fallout tends towards the purely functional or 'walking tank' in aesthetics, and centuries of decay haven't helped.
The only power armor that's not stylish is the T-51b, and that's mostly because of the bucket looking helmet.

His smiles fades. "Magic?"

"Ah!" I reach into my robes. "I understand your concern, but don't worry. I got a written opinion from the Archbishop of Canterbury…"

What Krono Thinks: Obviously he's concerned with the theological implications of my usage of supernatural powers.

What Daniel Thinks: Wait, does this guy believe in magic? Is he crazy?
