"Of course they need to be recharged. Service fees are where the real money is." She sighs. "Of course, it's kinda pointless now. How long 'til the economy gets fixed?"
…wait, why does she need money? She earned a massive bounty alongside other team members when the Kriegers were taken down, and she has the ability to transmute gold on a whim. Even with the economy on fire and the medallion as the main currency, she should be able to make arbitrary amounts of money at will, allowing her to focus purely on the jobs that she enjoys (being a magician, psychologically beneficial, or a superhero/investigating magic stuff) or that give nonmaterial benefits, like reputation or contacts. I can see her running a magic business because it interests her, or because she's making something mainstream… but service charges?

Spreadarmsreinforceenvironmentalshieldbrace!

SNAP!
Oh, damn, Yap's got him like a stick. Let's hope he's not a shaker. It is impressive that the giant crystal doggo can do anything to him, but given the currently flexible state of reality, it's understandable.

The field shoots past my field of vision as Crystal Yap worries me, because I can't-! I can't really get a grip on anything! My legs are bent against the base of his mouth and-

"Ugh."
And of course Yap is shaking him like a wet rag.

-his tongue's stopping me see anything while my hands blindly grip-. I think that's him gums? The ring's still stabilising my inner ear and suppressing any stomach upset that I might feel-

"RRRRRRRRRRRRRR!"
Yeah, puking into his mouth isn't going to make this situation any more pleasant.

-but there's no obvious way out-. Inertia shield isn't working either, marvellous. At least the environmental shield is keeping the saliva off.

Right, keep bracing. If Yap is behaving like a normal dog, a sharp pain should make him let go. I've got an x-ionised knife in my belt but I can't let go-.
This might need something tricker to escape...

"Tel mih og!"

Yap tosses his head back, sending me shooting out of his mouth and into the air! Flight aura, no, inertia belt, no, armour thruster-.
...Or Zatanna can do something. Well, out of the mouth and into the air.

I jerk in the air as my gravity impeller kicks in, because apparently whatever cockamamie rules this places uses-.

Yaps teeth crunch down on my left leg and yank-!
Oh, come on!

"Gah!"

Draw knife, ignore scenery, reach up to nose and STAB!

"Ruugh!"
Sometimes you just gotta boop the snoot, especially if doggo is being bad.

Okay, that's a tree. Helmet on, raise my arms to shield me head, because a purple healing ray can-.

Oof!
Assuming the ray works properly under these conditions.

The tree's bending-. Oh, not Loony Toon ru-

The tree unbends, sending me flying back towards my team mates and the irate and orange-glowing Crystal Yap.
...Wait, orange-glowing? That sounds bad.

-les! Twist in the air and activate thrusters again to try and lose momentum… Working a bit, legs are the most expendable body part so try and land legs first-.

Gah!
True, but it's still gonna hurt like hell.

Blah!

OOF!

Uh. Hit legs first but flipped over. Legs ache and back aches, but I don't think anything's critical. Uh. I could get out my healing ray, or I could just soldier through and keep fighting Yap.
Or apply a round of Wholeness Rightly Assumed? Unless he stole your Rings' charge?

I-. I don't know what-.

I should-.
...Huh, been a while since he was ever this indecisive at any moment.

Zatanna looks down at me. "Are you okay?"

"I don't know. I don't-." Something's wrong, my thoughts aren't-. "Something doesn't feel right."
...Oh no, Yap stole his orange quotation marks?! ...Er, I mean his Enlightenment.

"Your environmental shield looks weaker. Concussion?" She reaches down to help pull me up, which, realistically, she wouldn't be able to do while I'm wearing armour, but it gives me a direction of travel to focus on. "S'tahw gnorw htiw Luap?"

I get my feet under me and watch… Toyman fire some sort of sonic weapon at Orange Crystal Yap and cause it to flee. Don't need to worry about that, so I-. Heal myself? Keep an eye out for any other attackers? Healing myself is probably most sensible-.
I mean, yes, he's probably dazed. Getting tossed around like that is definitely going to shake up a brain for a bit.

Zatanna gasps quietly.

Um. Yes, healing ray, shoot myself, and… Hopefully someone else can work out why my thoughts feel so woolly, and why I don't seem… To be able to focus. That does sound like concussion, but I remember being concussed and it didn't feel like this.
Oh, Zee's already spotted the problem, it seems.

Yap's… Gone, and…

What am I doing here?
Oh, this really ups the difficulty of this mission considerably.

I don't know why I'm still here.

I don't know what I want.
...And that moment is where he realises what's wrong.

"HUNTER!"

He turns towards me as I stomp towards him. "Ah, yes?"
Oh, that's a lot of anger. And directed at the most obvious target, of course.

"What did Yap take from me, and can I get it back?"

His eyes run all over me. "I thought it was your ring power."
It's scary that he could even do that. What if he'd grabbed Zatanna or Tim?

"No. It appears to have taken my enlightenment, which I didn't think was possible."

"Huh." He blinks, one normal eye and one slime eye. "I didn't know you were enlightened."
Eh, some would say 'productively insane.'

"Yes, I merged with the Ophidian and had to fully integrate all of my desires with my conscious mind. It wasn't much fun and I don't want to have to do it again."

"Then… Don't?"
On the upside, you know how to do it and can probably speedrun it.

"The Orange Lantern Corps rather relies on having a super-Lantern like me in their back pocket in case the Reach tries something clever. As of right now, I'm no stronger than an average Lantern. Plus, I'm going to have to start meditating again to organise my thoughts."

"You should be able to get it back. It should be the same process as the one I'm going to use to put this oil back in its owners; it's still part of you, it's just not in you right now."
Why do i get the feeling putting it back will somehow be gross?

Zatanna lays a hand on my shoulder-. Yeah. Yeah. Flying off the handle at a teenager who didn't mean to do this…

I nod to her.
And it's going to be a lot harder for him to maintain his focus without Enlightenment.

Knife. Gun.

"Zatanna, are the protective spells on your costume still working?"
She's probably tankier than he is right now, power armour aside.

She smiles confidently. "Sure are. I guess I'm taking the lead, then."

I nod. "I'm afraid so. I suspect that we need to head after Yap, but my thoughts are somewhat disordered at the moment."
Yeah, until they get out of this loopy space, he can't even meditate to recenter and reacquire Enlightenment.

Toyman looks over towards… The tree I hit, which is still swaying from the impact. "Should we check the grove first? There might be someone or something there."

Zatanna raises her eyebrows at me, and I shrug. "My judgements are suspect right now. I'd like my enlightenment back, but-." I want it! Need it! "But… I want to go after it right now. A lot."
So him remaining in command is out of the question.

"But that's not the best decision."

I shrug helplessly.

"Did you used to be like this? I think you said something about it in your book, but I only really got to know you after you got enlightened."
Huh, that's a good point. She wasn't around much before the mental training mission that caused his Joining.

"No. I mean… Yes, more like this. But I've gotten used to not having to worry about certain things, whereas before I obsessed about them. It's not quite the same."

"Alright." She thinks for a moment. "We'll go to the grove first, then we'll go after Yap. Everyone ready?"

We all nod, and she leads the way across the grassland.
Let's hope the 'stolen' aspects don't disappear if they end the loopy space effect.

That's one way to make things harder for OL, I guess. Taking away one of his most long-time enhancements is really going to interfere with his mission-effectiveness. Hopefully he can maintain his composure when things get heated rather than going full larfleeze. Or gets angry enough to choke an Illuminati 'Homer Simpson'-style...

I now expect Yap to give Anarky Paul's enlightenment, which could lead to interesting times.

Yap is a dog.

A particuarly intelligent dog, but still a dog.

...this means we have a non-zero chance of finding out what happens when a dog is mainlining the Ophidian, with the Ophidian pissed off at having been seperated from Her Agent.

This is not going to end well for anybody involved.

Yeah, the last time someone stole anything orange from Paragon resulted in Ophidian demanding they rip the flesh from their still living bones (or something along those lines) iirc... and there was also that Saremite that tried to steal Paragon's power battery and got assimilated for that dumb move.

Huh, does losing his enlightenment really weaken him that much. I knew it was important and made using the Orange light easier, but losing it almost seems like a handicap for him.

I miss the days when Paul listing the things that don't work wasn't the majority of about two thirds of his fights.

Welcome to comics, where after a certain point if you aren't going to have every challenge faced be solved by 'X came in and gave it to them, The End', you have to either have (a) the challengers be a serial train of continual and unending escalation (this ends with Galactus vs Unicron); (b) the challengers have a way to neutralize a good chunk of the hero's powers/equipment/advantages in order to level the playing field (this indicates an intelligent challenger); or (c) have something hit the hero in the head and knock them out at the start of every fight (this is very stupid and was used reguarly against Green Lantern in Superfriends and again, possibly as a Superfriends reference, in Apokalyps War (although at least there the thing doing the hitting was Darkseid's fist)).

Once more this is getting ridiculous. The firepower and level of strength Paul has should stop all of these thing. Him losing the enlightenment is a blow that the orange corps (as far as the war is concerned) and the dc universe in general can t really afford without great loss. And all these to appease question, anarchy and the rest of the nutty people cabal. All this while having along for the ride the magic equilevant of a supercomputer in the form of a kid who doesn't listen to anyone "cause it's the right thing to do". And it's not. It s really not.
This is one of those places he should call the obsidian and steamroll everyone and everything before everything turns (more) sideways

Come to think of it, Hinon established that the main reason OL didn't go full Richard-with-ring/Larfleeeze immediately was because he didn't have enough of a soul-presence initially to absorb that much orange light. As he is now, without enlightenment and with a hell of a lot of power, he's probably more at risk of going crazy than a neophyte orange lantern?

On the other hand, the corps still has Illustres Xor. Heh, and Ragnar might have some amusing commentary if/when he finds out about this.

"cause it's the right thing to do". And it's not. It s really not.
Unfortunately, it kinda is.
If OL deleted the Illuminati, OL would lose his sense of self restraint. The illuminati are his personal morality effigy.

…is it wrong that I now want to kinda kill Hunter?
Yes. Not because it is morally wrong, but because Hunter is a living Macguffin.

You need him alive and cooperative to solve the problems he creates: Like Mktlpxzl and his challenge scenarios. Break the rules too much, and you are permanently stuck with the consequences of the generated scenario. Play along, and you can have all damage and death reversed at the end of the challenge.

Then, you can (and should) kill him.

Tim Hunter? The kid who's destined to save the universe, is Young Merlin, and a student of Constantine and the Justice League, for whom Paul is currently tutoring him? You think he should be slain out of hand?

Most people would call that murder. The Justice League would be quite peeved, and rightfully so, if Paul ended his stint as a teacher by murdering one of their students.

Zatanna raises her eyebrows at me, and I shrug. "My judgements are suspect right now. I'd like my enlightenment back, but-." I want it! Need it! "But… I want to go after it right now. A lot."
You know, Orange Lantern might be the only character I've ever read who, after getting unmindfucked, wants to rush to re-mindfuck himself.

It'd feel weird to read his internal monologue for too long and I'm probably a minority here but I'd like really to see an OL arc with no enlightenment. Everyone he knows would be really, really weirded out by normal him hahaha

It's almost as if we're mid-story-arc and there's more in the future that will develop the plot.

7th January 2257
253 Yard Time

The paint scheme is so last century. / Needs a lot of work. / Lacks armour. / Slow and primitive.

I wince as the elderly narn yard master takes me around the ship…

"I'm sorry, does this ship have a name?"

"Mm?" He stops and turns around, and… I get a good look at his facial scars and prosthetic eye. "What?"

"Does this ship have a name?"

"Of course! This proud ship…" He smiles. "Is the Hectocotylus!"

No.

"I think that quite unlikely. Though… Knowing the centauri, not entirely impossible."

"No, no, I see why-" He makes a pushing motion with his right hand. "-you'd think that, but its literal name is a metaphor which translates that way. More or less."

"And what is it literally?"

He widens his eyes slightly. "The Six-Fold Delver."

I squeeze my eyes shut. "Oh, good grief. Why?"

"I learned-" He reaches up and pats the scars covering his left eye crevice. "-not to ask that sort of question. You can change it officially. We can handle that once we've finished the refit."

I snort. "I don't know. I doubt that the name would mean anything to anyone who wasn't centauri or narn. Is that something narns would find funny?"

He shrugs. "We're usually happy to hear about the centauri losing things. But unless they knew the story, I doubt that anyone would laugh. And they might shoot you; from a distance, humans and centauri look the same. Especially when they're in custom-made centauri pleasure ships."

"How about painting it in black and red, just to make it really obvious that it was taken by narns?"

"If you do that, narns won't shoot you. The centauri might, but that's not my problem." I nod. "What do you want done with the other systems?"

"How far can you upgrade them?"

"That depends on… Time, money, how you want to specialise, what our government prioritises and whether we can source the parts, ease of maintenance..."

"Break it down for me."

"Time… The more you want changed, the longer it will take. If you just want it restored and don't mind us using narn-built parts… Four weeks, if no one calls the yard-workers away."

"I thought it would be longer."

"Someone in the Kha'Ri likes you. You've got priority… For the moment."

"For the moment? Am I getting on someone's bad side?"

"No, but this is a military mothball yard. If relations with the centauri deteriorate further, my workers get transferred to military projects and you'll have to wait. The quicker we finish, the less chance there is of that happening."

"I'm not really in a rush."

"Fine. Then there is the matter of money. Some problems go away if you have money to burn. Pay more, you get priority on parts. Better parts. We could even hire alien engineers to complete the work faster."

"Oh?"

"We've had brakiri working here before." He gives me a small smile. "Not centauri, through."

"That's a shame. I imagine they're the only ones more familiar with centauri systems than narns are."

He sneers. "As long as the others didn't want them back."

"Well, money's not really a problem. The deal I made says I can have it refitted any way I want, so…"

"Any way?"

"Yes, it-."

He holds up his right hand. "I don't want to know. I don't want to know. Now, specialising. That's where you'll have to start making decisions. The reactor only has so much power. The more we route to the main drive, the higher your peak acceleration. The more we route to directional thrusters, the more agile you are. A bigger reactor means less interior space and more trouble with cooling. A small reactor means that you can hide better, because there isn't much I can do to make a ship like this more survivable."

"I'm really just planning to use it as a caravan, so it doesn't need to be all that fast or agile."

"A caravan?"

"Yeah, you know… Park in a system, take a shuttle down, look around…"

He looks nonplussed. "Have you budgeted for shuttle fuel?"

"Yes."

"Ah. You're rich?"

"I do alright."

"If you plan to fly from orbit to the ground and back again every day, you're doing better than 'alright'. But what about the reactor?"

"I don't want it to look like I'm a Q-ship, so make sure it's proportionate. Comfort in the habitation section is my highest priority, and since I'm not sneaking around, active sensors?" He nods. "Acceleration is more important than manoeuvring, but I don't want it to be a complete hog. Ah. I don't need to fly in atmosphere-."

"Good. Because it can't. The shuttle can, as long as all you want is up and down, but the ship would come apart."

"That's fine."

"Centauri technology is common enough that most shipyards will be able to work on it. The main issue would be the artificial gravity. That would limit you to narn or centauri shipyards, and the centauri don't like other species getting access to their more advanced technology. You might have an 'accident'."

"And I don't really want to fly back to the narn homeworld without gravity." I frown. "Do you know why Earthforce didn't reverse engineer artificial gravity from minbari wrecks?"

He looks dismissive. "Your people didn't wreck enough minbari ships. And when they did wreck them, the minbari fleet pushed them back before they could salvage anything. The only other people your species has fought in significant numbers are the dilgar, and they didn't have the technology."

"Would working on the gravity system need a shipyard, or could a trained engineer or two handle it?"

"If they were skilled, and it was only routine maintenance, then an engineer could handle it. But it's not really efficient to keep engineers with all the skills you'd need sitting around on a ship like this. And I thought that you wanted to fly it on your own?"

"I'm not wedded to the idea. Know any highly skilled maintenance engineers with experience with working on starships who might be interested in a new job?"

"I… Might. Depends on the pay and conditions."

I shrug. "You're in charge of renovations. Make sure that accommodations are liveable-." I frown. "Can humans and narn eat the same food?"

He looks blank. "You're the first human I've met."

"Alright, make sure that the kitchen's easy to sterilise, just in case. Can you draw up a work schedule?"

He nods. "Give me a few hours. I can put something together."

Of course you got the yacht that belonged to the sort of Centauri that would name it as a dick joke.

"Someone in the Kha'Ri likes you. You've got priority… For the moment."
G'Kar isn't in full prophet status yet, but he still has a good bit of pull already. And it's clear he finds you interesting.
This is a blessing, and a curse.

"Fine. Then there is the matter of money. Some problems go away if you have money to burn.
You can have it done fast, done well, or done cheap. Pick two.

"Any way?"

"Yes, it-."

He holds up his right hand. "I don't want to know. I don't want to know.

"Do you know why Earthforce didn't reverse engineer artificial gravity from minbari wrecks?"

He looks dismissive. "Your people didn't wreck enough minbari ships.
There may have been a handful, at most, of others that happened off-screen, but (as mentioned) the only Minbari capital ship that we know Earthforce destroyed in the entire war was the Drala Fi, 'Black Star', in the incident that gave John Sheridan his "nuke 'em" reputation. He had a wreck in an asteroid field, rigged it with all the nukes he had, and planted an automated distress beacon on it. Smelling fresh meat, the Minbari waded into the asteroid field, and didn't have the room to maneuver to escape the blast when they realised it was a trap.

(Technically it could be considered a war crime, even if the Minbari had never heard of Geneva; faking distress calls is one of the few things that everybody, everywhere, always have considered taboo, for the obvious reason that it might be you next needing aid and not getting it because everybody knows it might be a trap. But impending genocide does tend to make morals...flexible.)

The only other people your species has fought in significant numbers are the dilgar, and they didn't have the technology.
And knowing Jha'dur, if they had, they'd likely have been under orders to destroy their ships instead of letting the technology be captured.

(And the sad thing is the entirety of the Dilgar War could perhaps have been avoided if someone had been willing to swallow their pride and explain that Omelos was on a timer to go boom...)

"Can humans and narn eat the same food?"
Everybody in the galaxy has Swedish meatballs. And everyone can probably eat spoo, even if by looking at it you'd really rather not.

The Minbari were the ones that started commiting war crimes when they started destroying civilian settlements and colonies.

Once one side commits a war crime, the other side can do it without fearing legal repercussions, because they can't trust the side that started the first war crime.

The paint scheme is so last century. / Needs a lot of work. / Lacks armour. / Slow and primitive.

I wince as the elderly narn yard master takes me around the ship…
It seems Speaker Paul's passengers have opinions about his new ship. Some don't like the looks, other hate the mechanicals. Still, if any of those in his Ring have the skills, all those things can be corrected.

"I'm sorry, does this ship have a name?"

"Mm?" He stops and turns around, and… I get a good look at his facial scars and prosthetic eye. "What?"
Ah, yes. The important part of a ship: What to call it. You don't want to be flying about in something that's offensive to someone you might be visiting.

"Does this ship have a name?"

"Of course! This proud ship…" He smiles. "Is the Hectocotylus!"
...The back end is a botanical Latin term. The root of which, 'cotyl', means a 'cup, hollow or vessel'. Is this a six-pack joke?

No.

"I think that quite unlikely. Though… Knowing the centauri, not entirely impossible."
I see one of his passengers translated the joke for him, or at least understands it.

"No, no, I see why-" He makes a pushing motion with his right hand. "-you'd think that, but its literal name is a metaphor which translates that way. More or less."

"And what is it literally?"
It's something he's reluctant to say out loud, isn't it? Is this going to be something like the name of Lovecraft's cat?

He widens his eyes slightly. "The Six-Fold Delver."

I squeeze my eyes shut. "Oh, good grief. Why?"
...It's not a beer joke, it's a sex joke. Because Centauri don't have one prick, they have six abdominal tentacles and their female six slots to match...

Ah, I can guess just how that lesson was imparted.

He shrugs. "We're usually happy to hear about the centauri losing things. But unless they knew the story, I doubt that anyone would laugh. And they might shoot you; from a distance, humans and centauri look the same. Especially when they're in custom-made centauri pleasure ships."
I'm sure a few tweaks to the hull shape can be worked in.

"How about painting it in black and red, just to make it really obvious that it was taken by narns?"

"If you do that, narns won't shoot you. The centauri might, but that's not my problem." I nod. "What do you want done with the other systems?"
...Maybe paint it bright orange?

"How far can you upgrade them?"

"That depends on… Time, money, how you want to specialise, what our government prioritises and whether we can source the parts, ease of maintenance..."
Naturally. Money and power makes the world go round.

"Break it down for me."

"Time… The more you want changed, the longer it will take. If you just want it restored and don't mind us using narn-built parts… Four weeks, if no one calls the yard-workers away."
No bad, given how complex even a simple starship would be.

"I thought it would be longer."

"Someone in the Kha'Ri likes you. You've got priority… For the moment."
Looks like his little meeting with G'Kar paid off.

"For the moment? Am I getting on someone's bad side?"

"No, but this is a military mothball yard. If relations with the centauri deteriorate further, my workers get transferred to military projects and you'll have to wait. The quicker we finish, the less chance there is of that happening."
Makes sense. 'Private' jobs naturally lower priority than national defence work. No matter what a politician might demand.

"I'm not really in a rush."

"Fine. Then there is the matter of money. Some problems go away if you have money to burn. Pay more, you get priority on parts. Better parts. We could even hire alien engineers to complete the work faster."
Of course. I would expect Speaker Paul has a stockpile of resources he can exchange for currency if needed.

"Oh?"

"We've had brakiri working here before." He gives me a small smile. "Not centauri, through."
A respectable-looking species.

"That's a shame. I imagine they're the only ones more familiar with centauri systems than narns are."

He sneers. "As long as the others didn't want them back."
Heh. I imagine that's an image they try to discourage. No matter how true it might or might not be.

"Well, money's not really a problem. The deal I made says I can have it refitted any way I want, so…"

"Any way?"

"Yes, it-."
That sound you heard was the cash drawer opening in his head at the possibility of two of an engineer's most favourite words: Unlimited. Budget.

Ah, whether to make use of the Ring in any of those areas. My suggestion of an orange paintjob might even disguise it's distinct glow if used as shielding.

"I'm really just planning to use it as a caravan, so it doesn't need to be all that fast or agile."

"A caravan?"
I mean, the Ring translated the concept, clearly. I bet he's just confused at the context.

"Yeah, you know… Park in a system, take a shuttle down, look around…"

He looks nonplussed. "Have you budgeted for shuttle fuel?"
...Yeah, that isn't gong to be an issue.

"Yes."

"Ah. You're rich?"
I mean, Unlimited Budget. Though I wonder how well the usual asteroid mining trick would work in a 'verse with spacefaring cultures.

"I do alright."

"If you plan to fly from orbit to the ground and back again every day, you're doing better than 'alright'. But what about the reactor?"
He's not joking. Ground-to-orbit and vice-versa is quite the feat. Earth barely manages it, especially since we sit at the high end of the Rocket equation. Of course, Ring flight makes it irrelevant, really.

I would not be surprised if that's a thing used in-universe. Freighters that look fat and vulnerable, paraded through a system believed to harbour pirates, only to pop open banks of missile and/or laser ports when challenged...

"Good. Because it can't. The shuttle can, as long as all you want is up and down, but the ship would come apart."

"That's fine."
Ah, the classic 'built in space, lives in space' hull. Too big to support it's own weight under planetary gravity.

"Centauri technology is common enough that most shipyards will be able to work on it. The main issue would be the artificial gravity. That would limit you to narn or centauri shipyards, and the centauri don't like other species getting access to their more advanced technology. You might have an 'accident'."
I'm sure he can find a way around that issue. At minimum, live inside the RIng's field except when sleeping and applying a Wholeness Rightly Assumed when re-equipping.

"And I don't really want to fly back to the narn homeworld without gravity." I frown. "Do you know why Earthforce didn't reverse engineer artificial gravity from minbari wrecks?"
Lack of opportunity, I would expect. Minbari vessels were quite a step above human vessels, I understand, so using anything less than lethal force against them would be challenging.

He looks dismissive. "Your people didn't wreck enough minbari ships. And when they did wreck them, the minbari fleet pushed them back before they could salvage anything. The only other people your species has fought in significant numbers are the dilgar, and they didn't have the technology."
Drawbacks of being low on the tech-level totem pole...

On the other hand, a couple of passengers with the skills and his Ring's ability to fabricate the parts...

"I'm not wedded to the idea. Know any highly skilled maintenance engineers with experience with working on starships who might be interested in a new job?"

"I… Might. Depends on the pay and conditions."
...Or that. Probably best to not travel alone, even if you do have plenty of passengers to talk to.

I shrug. "You're in charge of renovations. Make sure that accommodations are liveable-." I frown. "Can humans and narn eat the same food?"

He looks blank. "You're the first human I've met."
Troublesome, but the Ring can compensate until he can sort it out.

"Alright, make sure that the kitchen's easy to sterilise, just in case. Can you draw up a work schedule?"

He nods. "Give me a few hours. I can put something together."
Ah, hurry up and wait. Not surprising, this has probably been sprung on them on short notice.

So Speaker Paul is stuck on Babylon 5 for a while longer, I suppose. And all the while, the ticking clock ticks on... I doubt he'll willingly get involved in the big drama coming up, but who knows what fate will throw his way while he waits for his ride to be put together? Even if he keeps his head down, someone will notice the glow in the corner...

Imagine if the Dog then decided to give the Orange Enlightenment that it stole to a character who really shouldn't have it, like Superman.

(What the hell would a Superman who suddenly had Orange Enlightenment forced upon him be like, anywyay?)

Huh.

The main thing for Superman would be resolving his 'I want to good things for people' versus 'I don't want to do these sorts of thing' dilemma. Kal-El isn't someone who'd be comfortable just executing people in the way that the SI would be, but it's possible that someone like Luthor might find himself holidaying in the Phantom Zone.
