Of course, they are also described as having "no souls" but that's because in warhammer a being's "soul" is the same as their "warp presence".

At most Paul might be like the Tau in that his emotions cause a teeny tiny indentation into the warp. But that just means he's an easily accessed snack to any Daemon that might decide to nom him from The Warp.

 

His ring mat absorb any daemon that tries to do that, kinda like how Black Paul's ring absorbed the vampire demon that tried to take over.

Vampires. Not the heraldry of any particular lineage or knight of Mousillon AFAICT, but black fleur on yellow is the symbol of the duchy of Mousillon so it's clearly related.

An aside - I went back to read the earlier scenes in this continuity and found a conjugation error.

Should be "hold".

 

Seeing as daemons have never encountered a power ring before in any Warhammer setting anything Zoat writes about the effects a ring may have on them would not go against canon, since there is none.

He can basically write whatever he likes about daemons and power rings and not be wrong since there isn't anything substantial to contradict it.

Given that Warhammer vampires generally don't follow the usual literary vampire weaknesses (Garlic, sunlight, religious icons, running water, etcetera...) it'd be hard to out him, short of using High Magic to burn him...

For reference: Humans are strength 3 average. Vampires usually start at strength 4 which is peak-human-tier and equivalent to being hit by a crossbow bolt or gun. As for Initiative (reflex and striking speed in combat), Humans are again 3. Vampires? Again, 4 or more usually 5. That's enough for a human to seem as if they're moving in slow-motion...

Annoyingly, depending on which edition this follows, Magic either comes after combat (at the end of a turn) or before shooting attacks (later editions...) But, hey, narrative causality.

To be fair, him ignoring you is probably a good thing. I suspect a railgun shot would be equivalent to strength 10, -6 save, wouldn't it? Unless this Paul hasn't worked that construct out yet, unlikely as that is?

For the unfamiliar: Nagash is effectively the God of the Undead. The First Necromancer. Once a mortal king of Khemri (The Old World's Egypt) who found immortality via Vampirism, then evolved into a full-blown Lich.

And there's this Paul's ultimate goal: Throwing the Gods out.

Which we won't get to see, of course... Though if his next action isn't to behead Aucassin, I would be disappointed...

And so ends this episode. Leaves everything in a worrying place: OL off Earth, investigating the Sheeda presence on Witchworld. Renegade, caught up in the opening salvos of his timeline's Harrowing... Unless, of course, there's a fake-out coming... Can't wait to see, whatever comes next!

 

Both paragon and renegade have shown a bit of contempt for traditional deities, so some alternates also having that isn't too surprising.

I think it's more like "No asshole Gods! No incompetent asshole Kings! Only intelligent Man that doesn't make pacts with insane gods!"

Most versions of OL we've seen don't tear down established systems just for the hell of it, but they do it if the system is deeply flawed, and the one in this setting is very, very flawed.

 

Well if he lacks the mechanical knowledge on how to build a railgun he may just use more traditional constructs.

At least it isn't the masturbatory fantasy of an emotionally damaged teenager that the 40k verse is.

He may not care all that much about them, like he didn't care about OL and the Dark Elf showing up.

The base concepts of a railgun are fairly simple, so given a super-advanced computer like an Orange Lantern Ring I think he could build some if he decides to put in the effort. Since he can maintain it with his ring, he can built it so that it isn't built to be taken apart and maximize efficiency.

 

He gets his ring recharged by absorbing the ambient Warp energies in the world.

 

Then the green knight arrives and tells him.
"Rise Sir Mallobaude. You have passed your trial. Come and drink from the ACTUAL grail"

And history is rewritten and much Chivalry is had for all.

 

I mean, it's not like the vampire posing as a bretonian knight is going to be a necrarch. Blood dragon or Van Carstein, but not a necrach.

This is why before the current vampire craze Undead armies were generally led by Necromancer Lords. Even after Warhammer Armies: Vampire Counts came out, you still needed a Necrarch Lord with some very expensive bloodline powers to get a level 4 with 4 spells.

 

Yeah. The reverse gets believed because in WH Total War 2 vampires are some of the best casters in the game. Wind of Death is well and above the best spell and only avalible to them. They play well into the late game with stacks of literally free skeletons and their FU spells doing all the killing.

 

Yeah. You know, back in the day, vampires couldn't even use shyish? Shyish use requires accepting your own death and vampires -being undead- couldn't perform the necessary mental leaps. They got Dark Magic and Necromancy instead.

 

Mr Zoat what made you decide to give this Paul so much knowledge about the setting this time? And which knowledge has been deleted from his mind? Till now it seems he doesn't know about Mallobaude's canon future specifically, but otherwise?
