With This Ring (Young Justice SI) (Thread Fourteen)

He would be a liability against the minions.

No magical defenses means he'd constantly be caught in various AOE mind control and transformation magic's.

To be fair, Paragon Paul was still able to fend off Klarion even before he got a soul or any magic defenses, and Klarion is much stronger than your average Youma. And if he gets affected by magic, Usagi can cleanse his body of dark magic.

Paul would have to find a way to bypass the Sailor Scouts magical defenses to heal them.

Not necessarily. For one thing, this world's Paul has been around for a while, so maybe he's found a way. Plus, don't the Sailor Scouts' magical defenses get turned off when they switch out of their senshi forms?

You're stretching and buffing Sailor Moon too much to make them relevant. Klarion isn't a minor villain like Beryl and Metallia. He'd outright laugh at Usagi's attacks as it tickles him. Metallia is a big fish in a small pond. Klarion is an Ocean creature in this analogy.

Who is this you want to shoehorn into the story?

Edit: found it. Paul offers nothing that the setting doesn't have, the magic allowing a much better equivalent. You're proposing a lot of effort to justify a more colorful background character.

I'm wondering if the Silver Crystal could straight up give SM-Paul a soul when Usagi uses it in fix-everything mode. That seems like the sort of thing that's well within its capabilities.

BERYL: If I wanted a dick measuring contest, I'd whip out a ruler and win.

The joke is that what none of us have realized is that this is the Team Four Star Sailor Moon Abridged universe. (I mean probably not, but it would be hilarious.)

Metalia wiped out a solar system spanning magical kingdom in a matter of hours...

Changing Lanes (part 26) New

I vomit what feels like blood and tar as I frantically try to evade. I guess that in a world saturated with dark energy a being of pure dark energy can manifest just about anywhere she cares to!

I spin, hoping against hope that she's suddenly become vulnerable to x-ionised blades. Suggestions of claws part and reform, slashing at me and I know from painful experience that they pass through both armour and flesh.

At least I'm not throwing up inside my helmet. I-.

I dodge again as an arrow whistles past my face, the tiara still stuck on Nabu and-.

Ah.

The cold bites nearly as hard as the claws! I can't see my body, but ring scans and… Just the lack of feeling from most of my skin paints a-. A nasty picture.

But either we're doomed, or the rest of the plan worked and-.

A wall of flames appears between me and the undead Guardians, and I drop down behind it as I finally-

"Ahk-hk."

-get the opportunity to repair my extremities. Agh, whatever this stuff is, it's coming out of my tear ducts as well! It's not even doing that much damage, it's just disgusting!

"Remarkable!"

Okay, they freed Lushun, good, that was step… Ah, three? He doesn't seem to be affected by the cold or claws made of darkness.

"A being of incarnate dark energy! And with far more initiative than mere darkness elementals. Oh, I would love the opportunity to study you at length. But! Needs must when Urgash drives."

A dark… Shape manifests out of the roaring darkness just above him.

"Those young ladies appear to be a little dead." He taps the but of his staff on the ground. "Let's see if I can do something about that."

Sailor Moon's brutalised flesh… Runs, dust and fragments of bone being pulled back into position, and as her eyes reform there's a-.

Blessed Hades, she's regained her awareness. She knows that she's a walking corpse and-.

And Nabu stops babbling as the tiara flies off his head and into her mangled but outstretched hand.

Resurrection is Light Magic. Level 5. You have to be an expert to cast it. Raise Dead is Summoning Magic, level 2. Anyone can cast it. But it doesn't last. Any living unit raised with it crumbles to nothing at the end of the battle.

The dark apparition brings its claws down, and Lushun lets his Arcane Armour take the hit.

"Moon Tiara Action!"

Her tiara burns cold as it flies up into the dark energy creature-

"GWRAAAAAAAGH!"

-and apparently causes it some measure of distress. And I've stopped puking, which… Suggests that its hold is weakening a little. And Sailor Mercury's body is reforming in much the same way that Sailor Moon's did. Hopefully someone explained to Lushun that he's supposed to be focusing on the dark energy Metalia's been throwing around-. But either way, now that Metalia's ignoring me, what can I do?

Ah yes, a transplant. Because she might not be wearing a ring at the moment, but like this there's even less gap between desire and action.

Metalia, you want to stop.

The claw falling towards Lushun stops, her focus wavering.

Metalia, you want to let go of the dark energy.

Lushun turns towards the fire wall and smiles at me. "Not dead, I see. Well done!" He taps the butt of his staff against the ground twice more, and Mars and Jupiter are zombified and removed from Metalia's control.

"Foc-!" I wheeze more sludge out of my throat. "The plan!"

"I can do more than one thing at once. But there's a slight wrinkle."

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

"You'll be a wrinkle if you don't get on with it! She's resisting!"

Metalia, you want to hear more of my v-.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

Lushun sweeps the head of his staff across the combat arena, the sphere of dark energy collapsing and thank you, Ao is in position with the Pillar of Bones.

"Sailor Guardians! Venus will be up in a moment, and she's got the Silver Crystal. Blast the bitch!"

Sailor Moon nods, catches her tiara as it falls from Metalia, and leads her squad towards… Where Venus is leaving D-Point, Silver Crystal in hand.

They're… Going to die. But they were dead anyway, and-. And I can't think of a better way to do this. I mean, I could try absorbing the power myself, but between what happened to my alter ego and the lack of testing… I don't even know if I'm compatible with the Silver Crystal and I'm not about to risk trying to get the Ophidian's attention from here.

The power ring that was on Beryl's finger rises into the air and flies into D-Point.

Huh-? That takes more control than some random-. They cleared and resurrected the other me.

Then-.

Not me!

Metalia stabs downwards towards Lushun just as the Sailor Guardians start to glow. He raises his staff with his left hand and points towards the Guardians with his right, smiling like it's the most fun he's ever had.

And then-.

The Pillar of Bones crackles and discharges, dark energy flowing into Metalia, then into Lushun, and then towards the Sailors where… The Silver Crystal annihilates it in a sphere of blinding light!

Conflicting energies crackle around Lushun's body, but he's still grinning. "A whole planet's worth of dark energy! I must study-!" He looks down at himself as he begins to disintegrate. "Oh dear. But, at least Asha won't get me."

The white sphere expands, consuming Metalia's form, enveloping… Me, and I can barely see anything else, and then being… Sucked into the Pillar of Bones.

That wasn't the plan. Is that..?

That's amazing.

I try scanning, but I can't get anything useful while an artefact this powerful is discharging. I-.

The light dims slightly, and I can see the Sailors, their bodies fully regenerated and living. There's a pile of.. robes on the floor, and I… Stagger towards them. I don't know if there's anything left of his body, but I should recover it and… If I'm stuck here now… Perhaps I could learn to use the staff? I reach down to touch his sleeve, where it's shrunken down-.

The robe moves.

"Well."

It pushes itself upright, clearly being able to move under its own power. A bony hand pushes his hood back-.

That's not Lushun. That's a skeleton.

"That was invigorating." He looks at me as I stare at him, the light around us fading back to normal levels. "Is there something on my face?"

"Who are you?"

"What do you-?" He blinks, then his right hand reaches up to his face. "Oh. Oh dear."

Yes. Using a death curse cast through the crystal that allowed the Moon Kingdom to build everything. That crystal is the source of their magitech.
No? This is the first time Metalia has even had access to the Silver Crystal. She wiped out the Moon Kingdom thousands of years ago.

Suggestions of claws part and reform, slashing and me
'and' to 'at'
He raises his staff with his left hand anD-Points towards the Guardians with his right, smiling like it's the most fun he's ever had.
Looks like autocorrect got confused or something because a 'd' and a 'point' ended up next to each other so it thinks it should be D-Point when it shouldn't be.

That's not Lushan. That's a skeleton.
'Lushan' to 'Lushun'

And our wizard friend is a immortal lich now? Umm... Good, for him?

If that's what you believe, then tell it to Zoat. He's the one who put a version of himself in that world, I'm just trying to speculate on how he could make himself useful.

Thank you, corrected.

I realised that I hadn't been consistent is calling Beryl's base either D Point or D-Point, so I changed all of them. Unfortunately, D Point and 'an[d point]' are the same.

I think the implication is that he was always an immortal lich, he was just pretending not to be.

If so, combined with the ease with which he undid Serenity's work on the Silver Crystal, I do believe this might actually be Sandro, which would explain a lot.

He didn't undo Serenitys work, that was Maze

I spin, hoping against hope that she's suddenly become vulnerable to x-ionised blades. Suggestions of claws part and reform, slashing and me and I know from painful experience that they pass through both armour and flesh.
And back to OL, I see. Hardly a moment after he forced Metalia to abandon its human host, I take it. Sadly, I suspect it will be less vulnerable to purely physical attacks now that it's not entirely material...

At least I'm not throwing up inside my helmet. I-.

I dodge again as an arrow whistles past my face, the tiara still stuck on Nabu and-.
Funnily, I always picture the tiara in action more like a chakram. Like Xena's throwing ring, you know? It is magically transformed, so...

Ah.

The cold bites nearly as hard as the claws! I can't see my body, but ring scans and… Just the lack of feeling from most of my skin paints a-. A nasty picture.
I would imagine he's now suffering frostbite or worse across most of his body. That sudden and intense a burst of cold, it burns.

But either we're doomed, or the rest of the plan worked and-.

A wall of flames appears between me and the undead Guardians, and I drop down behind it as I finally-
Definite sign an ally has arrived. Lushun, since he was coming first.

"Ahk-hk."

-get the opportunity to repair my extremities. Agh, whatever this stuff is, it's coming out of my tear ducts as well! It's not even doing that much damage, it's just disgusting!
Worrying that it can hit him that effectively. Fortunately, having his physical processes impaired like this isn't going to stop him fighting.

"Remarkable!"

Okay, they freed Lushun, good, that was step… Ah, three? He doesn't seem to be affected by the cold or claws made of darkness.
Given the hints dropped, of course he's not. Plus the powerful items he's carrying would certainly increase his resistance.

"A being of incarnate dark energy! And with far more initiative than mere darkness elementals. Oh, I would love the opportunity to study you at length. But! Needs must when Urgash drives."

A dark… Shape manifests out of the roaring darkness just above him.
Sounds like Metalia is getting really pissed off. I don't think it likes not being taken seriously.

"Those young ladies appear to be a little dead." He taps the but of his staff on the ground. "Let's see if I can do something about that."

Sailor Moon's brutalised flesh… Runs, dust and fragments of bone being pulled back into position, and as her eyes reform there's a-.
Such casual ease of regeneration. You know he's been sandbagging a little before know, hasn't he?

Blessed Hades, she's regained her awareness. She knows that she's a walking corpse and-.

And Nabu stops babbling as the tiara flies off his head and into her mangled but outstretched hand.
I'm sure Lushun has something for that as well.

If I remember the scenes back in the dark elf city right, it implied Lushun was involved in the attempt to resurrect that Paul. It makes sense, then, that he can cast it now.

"Moon Tiara Action!"

Her tiara burns cold as it flies up into the dark energy creature-

"GWRAAAAAAAGH!"
Looks like she still has her light-magic powers, even if she's not technically alive right now.

Patch yourself up and try to stop the Senshi from dying again?

Ah yes, a transplant. Because she might not be wearing a ring at the moment, but like this there's even less gap between desire and action.

Metalia, you want to stop.
Exposed as it is, it's probably a lot more vulnerable to all supernatural effects. Using Beryl as a host was likely an attempt to cover that vulnerability

The claw falling towards Lushun stops, her focus wavering.

Metalia, you want to let go of the dark energy.
A little bit more of a stretch, as it is made of dark energy. Would kind of go against self-preservation instincts... But as long as it loses some of that power...

"The plan!"
OL, you're working with very competent people. 😏 People who can walk and talk at the same time, never mind fighting.

"I can do more than one thing at once. But there's a slight wrinkle."

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!
Oooh. Looks like Metalia's rejecting that 'desire' he tried to implant in it..

"You'll be a wrinkle if you don't get on with it! She's resisting!"

Metalia, you want to hear more of my v-.
Sadly, I don't think it's going to be listening to you anymore, OL. Time to unleash the blessed magic...

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

Lushun sweeps the head of his staff across the combat arena, the sphere of dark energy collapsing and thank you, Ao is in position with the Pillar of Bones.
Which is probably soaking up all the loose energy from that bubble, too.

OL taking a big assumption there, but he's fortunately correct.

Ah, if only he knew more about this setting. Fortunately, with Sailor Moon up and around, she can settle the matter quite easily, especially if they can funnel the energy from the Pillar into her casting.

The power ring that was on Beryl's finger rises into the air and flies into D-Point.

Huh-? That takes more control than some random-. They cleared and resurrected the other me.
Quite correct guess there. Though he's in no shape to be helping even if his Ring still holds enough charge. Perhaps OL can assist on that front somehow...

Then-.

Not me!

Metalia stabs downwards towards Lushun just as the Sailor Guardians start to glow. He raises his staff with his left hand and points towards the Guardians with his right, smiling like it's the most fun he's ever had.
It figures he's drawing aggro, especially if he's actively leeching power away from it. He's got to be coursing with dark energy, enough that Metalia is regarding him as another of its kind... And it evidently does not like them.

And then-.

The Pillar of Bones crackles and discharges, dark energy flowing into Metalia, then into Lushun, and then towards the Sailors where… The Silver Crystal annihilates it in a sphere of blinding light!
More likely purifying and/or inverting it into fuel, since it seems to consume the caster's life-force in the process of rewriting reality. When Usagi cast her spell to end the Dark Kingdom in the 90's anime, rolling time back, she was channelling the spirits of the other Senshi as well as her own and still nearly died.

I suppose Light and Dark are two sides of the same coin, after all. Though I doubt the pillar will survive the process.

That wasn't the plan. Is that..?

That's amazing.

I try scanning, but I can't get anything useful while an artefact this powerful is discharging. I-.
Heh. Not surprised he feels it like something akin to the White Light. To some degree, it is, with the same kind of 'directly modifying reality' level of power.

Oh, he pulled an Obi-Wan? I suppose as a necromancer, he was heavily infused with dark energy...

The robe moves.

"Well."

It pushes itself upright, clearly being able to move under its own power. A bony hand pushes his hood back-.
...Or not. After all, the first thing any wise wizard does is make himself very hard to kill. And in a necromancer's case, they have even more options.

That's not Lushan. That's a skeleton.

"That was invigorating." He looks at me as I stare at him, the light around us fading back to normal levels. "Is there something on my face?"
I think it's rather more a case of what is not there. 😄

"Who are you?"

"What do you-?" He blinks, then his right hand reaches up to his face. "Oh. Oh dear."
Well, then. Time to come clean, Sandro. (As spotted by @Duke Long several days back, in fact.)

I figured the Senshi would get revived by the necromancer, and I was kind of right. At least the Crystal has restored them to fully alive status. The question now is how far did that spell they cast go, and what will the world remember of all this? I'd bet Usagi just made a general 'fix all this' kind of Wish and the Crystal obliged...

I don't know if there's anything left of his body, but I should recover it and… If I'm stuck here now… Perhaps I could learn to use the staff?
I thought Paul could planeshift/dimensional travel/universe hop with his ring? Why would he think he is stuck? Is he just disoriented and not thinking straight after getting a face full of Wish?

I don't think he can do that.

Renegade can travel universes, but only with the help of Mother Box.

I thought Paul could planeshift/dimensional travel/universe hop with his ring? Why would he think he is stuck? Is he just disoriented and not thinking straight after getting a face full of Wish?
Yes, he can. Or he could build one of the devices he has on file. The problem is that (even assuming that they work in accordance with local physics) he doesn't know where he's going to.

In canon, when Usagi did this she edited the timeline.

Everything she didn't like(the Dark Kingdom, her friends and boyfriend dying, most of the population of Earth getting wiped out) just plain never happened. Everything she did like(meeting her friends and boyfriend) did happen.

How does that work when stuff like them becoming the Sailor Guardians and meeting one another only happened because the Dark Kingdom was around, you may ask?

It just worked out.

The Line of Serenity is not overly burdened with a respect for cause and effect, nor the stable progression of time.
