Oh, then yeah, no one has actually called her that in-universe from what I can find. Though I suppose Kara wouldn't know unless she outright saw them writing her name.

She does, though. Paul gave her the ability to use holy/blessed attacks and smite demons when she absorbed the essence of the Tree of Knowledge, which is something that other Dryads usually can't do. Thus, she has a unique ability that her sisters don't have, and combined with her immensely buffed natural abilities, that would make her the Dryad equivalent of superhuman. (Superdryad? Superplant?)

No, any dryad who had enough raw power and access to a piece of antediluvian wood could do the same. It's more like someone putting on an inertia belt; pretty nifty but hardly unique.

Okay, then what do you define as a genuinely novel ability, then? Because if novelty is what we're looking for, there's hardly anyone in the story who fits that criteria. Almost every power we've seen so far has at least one other person who also has that ability.

Take the Flashes, for example. By your own logic, wouldn't this mean that none of the Flashes would be true metahumans either, since anyone who has access to the Garrick Formula (or Speed Force, depending on the continuity) could do what they do, provided they get enough practice and experience with the power?

If i remember right, Euanthe was going to harmonize the piece of wood with the Green, thus causing all Earthly plant life to harm demons. Zatara was going to help her to make sure everything worked like she wanted it to. Then the anti life broadcast happened.

I gesture to the blocks of metal and concrete that I had Ian get started on, testing his control and precision with his orally-generated flames. "Ian, are you alright carrying on with that while I get Toni started?"

"Sure, but… Ah. I feel like I… I was kind of a dick to her by using my actual name…"

I sigh. Fine. There's a lot of cultural momentum behind the superhero name idea, and that's a small price to pay in exchange for people with superpowers staying on the straight and narrow.

"Do you prefer 'Face' or 'The Face'?"

"Face. Like, 'I'm The Face, call me Face'."

"Alright, Face, Argent… Kara, what did you decide on?"

Toni frowns. "Isn't she Supergirl?"

Kara glares at me. "Yes!"

"No."

"Oh, come on!"

"Kara, we've been over this. The Kara from this universe gets first dibs. If you ever go home, you can call yourself Supergirl there and demand our Kara call herself something else."

"You let Noriel call herself 'Supergirl'!"

"Our Kara wasn't using it at the time, and no one wants to talk to Noriel about picking something else."

"That's totally unfair! She's not even kryptonian!"

"You can call yourself 'Supergirl' in Kryptonian if you want. What would that be?"

"Alright, Superhumpf then." Her mouth drops open, and she gives me a look of total betrayal. "Ah. Not sure what you should call me. Honestly, I'm fine with you using my name."

Toni frowns. "What about 'Orange Lantern'?"

"The problem with that is that I'm part of an Orange Lantern Corps with over a thousand members, and three of them are currently working on this planet."

"But they're not.. here."

"Alright, well, call me whatever you like. I am an Orange Lantern, my rank is Illustres and my name is a matter of public record. Superhumpf, could you-?"

"But Power Girl is so generic!"

I turn to… Argent and Face. "Do you have any suggestions?"

Face had been heading back to the test targets, but stops and turns around, looking uncertain. Argent frowns. "What other options did she get?"

"Superwoman, Flamebird and Nightwing."

"I'm not old enough for Superwoman! I'd have to be at least thirty!"

"Superman started calling himself Superman in his late teens."

"It's not the same!"

"Kara, I'm happy to call you anything-"

"Then how about-"

"-Supergirl!?" / "-Supergirl."

"Darn it!"

Argent looks a little lost. "Why 'Nightwing'?"

"'Nightwing' is the Anglicisation of the name of a figure from Kryptonian mythology. Same with 'Flamebird'."

Argent nods. "How about 'Mightygirl'?"

She frowns. "Well-! Which of your ideas is cutest?!"

"In those parallel universes where Power Girl exists, she's generally considered to be the most aesthetically appealing."

She thinks for a moment, and then nods again. "Okay! Make me a copy of her costume for later, and I'll try it on!"

"Certainly. Face, as I said, get back to learning melting points. Argent, let's find out how much force you can block."

Argent nods. "Okay. How?"

"I'm going to throw things at your barriers until they break."

"Oh. Ah. Great."
