Been reading a lot of Xianxia and Worm and I've the most horrifying realization.
A Xianxia world was exactly what the entities were aiming for. Where power dictates everything, where conflict happens based on the smallest infraction and where progress is gained through the loss of humanity and morals. Instead striving for more "discoveries" . Xianxia has some of the most reprehensible MCs and Villains, often treating normal people like resources.
The superhero facade that Cauldron cultivated was unironically the most stable societal framework for humans given alien weaponry. Without it, the parahumans would really just devolve into somehing similar to cultivation-at-all-cost obsessed immortals.
