Me, the person writing this story, is an unreliable person with a really big want to write some fanfictions. I've tried my hands at it a few times, but, never really struck with one long enough to make a comeplete fic. This is another one of my attapets at writing a fanfiction. I'll be upfront, this concept has been in my mind for a while now, but I don't really have an idea of what to write once the first arc concludes. I do have kind of an ending in mind though, that's a plus?! Anyway, as I've already established, I'm an unrealiable person, and most likely won't be updating regularly.

Right, our fic. It's litterally a modern person with not too much knowledge of marvel getting reincarnated into marvel universe with ten shadows technique and saitama's powers. That's it, that's pretty much it.

[He knew the whole time his buddy killed Tony's parents. Not once did he mention it. Just wondering what others thoughts are on the matter.]

{I'm a Cap fan and feel you on this. Cap even admits to the fault later on. He thought he was making the right choice, but was wrong. Sometimes you have information that is going to hurt people regardless of what you do with it - just gotta decide how to proceed. Cap knew Bucky didn't willingly or maliciously do it, but people don't judge on that. He also knew Tony deserved to know. The cat just came out of the bag while he internally debated things. He was gonna lose either way.}

{Considering how Tony reacted when he found out,

{I don't care [that Bucky was also a victim due to HYDRA mind control] he killed my mom

{Steve had fair reason to keep it from him. Tony was always headstrong and impulsive and he could very well have suited up and flown to wherever Bucky was being held and try to kill him. (It wouldn't be the first time he's done something like that).

{Ultimately Steve was in a bad situation where no matter what it was going to hurt one of his friends. Either he makes Bucky a target or he shatters Tony with the revelation.}

{This seems unfair. Tony finding out what happened by watching it play out on screen in an already high stress situation while standing 10 ft from the guy who did it followed immediately by the fact that Steve tried to panic his way out of things is arguably the worst possible way he could have found out.

{If Tony had been given a heads up in an isolated, lower stress situation he probably still would have reacted badly but at least it would have given him a chance to burn through the worst of his feelings without the added burden of Steve's betrayal. While I have a lot of sympathy for Steve I really don't think he could have handled things worse if he tried.}

Eric was scrolling through the forum discussions on Captain America: Civil war, after having watched it for the second time.

Truth to be told, he hadn't really remembered much of the story after his first watch, which was before the infinity war even released in theaters.

Now with the Avengers encore about to be released in preparation for Avengers Doomsday, Eric thought it would be a good idea to binge watch the Marvel Movies. He'd always been a fan of Marvel and had used to watch every movie that came out, often in theaters, even once rewatching the entirety of the marvel collection before Infinity war.

Yet, somewhere along the way, his passion for marvel had fallen off. He hadn't seen any of the movies that came out after Avengers: Endgame. His life had gotten busy, often not leaving enough time for his passion.

Now, even though life continued to be busy as it always had, he had decided to rekindle his passion again. One movie everyday, till Avengers: Encore released in theaters. That'd give him plenty of time to watch all the movies, from Captain America: The first Avenger to Spider Man: The Brand New Day.

He even found a forum with all the movies listed in order to be watched and even made a checklist to his calendar.

He had just completed watching the Civil Wars movie.

And as a Tony fanboy, he'd rushed to forum discussion about who was right and who was wrong.

While Erik did indeed lean toward the idea that Cap was in the wrong, he couldn't really fault the man. The movie did such an excellent job at portraying the character motivations of both sides, making him unsure about picking a side.

Still, he thought it would've been better if it was a separate movie instead of a Captain America one. The Story had enough elements to make it work. At least an Avengers 2.5?

"Eric! Take your laundry upstairs!" a voice called out to him from downstairs.

Just when he was about to contribute to the forum by making a comment about Moms and Loyalty.

He stood up, walking as he put on his T.

"Ashley, you're not my mom! Stop acting like you are!" He yelled as he hopped down the stairs, cracking his sore neck.

Erik's pc in his room flicked as he walked out, the forums page changing naturally as if someone was operating it. He did not notice.

"Says the adult who let his laundry rot in the dryer!" Came the snarky reply from the kitchen.

"Wha–?" Erik was exasperated, "It's only been an hour!"

"And?"

"..." Erik let out a breath as he shook his head. It wasn't worth it.

"Ashley, how many times have I asked you not to work out in the kitchen? It's not safe." Erik commented as he walked past her ridiculous handstand, holding back the urge to kick at her hands. It really wasn't worth it.

"What am I supposed to do while my dinner is cooking? Doomscroll like the rest of you?"

"...Not work-out in the kitchen?"

A thud came as Ashley landed on the floor from her handstand.

"You know Erik? You can be such a controlling misogynic piece of shit sometimes!"

Erik didn't even pause as he closed the dryer, scoffing at her, "Literally what do you mean?! I was making a healthy suggestion!"

Ashley could be such a drama bitch sometimes.

"That is not how you make suggestions, young man!"

He scoffed once again, standing up as his left hand wrapped around the laundry.

"You know what? Never mind! But don't you dare call me for help when you mess up someday and pour the pot full of soup on your face. I will not be coming down to drive you to the hospital!"

Erik walked away.

"Do you want coffee?"

Ashley called out from behind him.

"…" he paused at the kitchen door, "Is it decaf?"

"Who drinks decaf nowadays?" It was Ashley's turn to scoff.

The distinct sound of boiling coffee pouring onto the mug and the tantalizing aroma of it drifted through the air, tickling his brain.

"It's 9 in the evenin– Never mind, let me have some," He really wasn't someone to say no to a coffee.

"Have you watched Captain America: Civil war?" He asked while he waited.

Ashley looked at him as she took out a mug from the cupboard, "Yeah, like a decade ago."

"A decade- How old are you?!" Erik gasped.

"That's rude," Ashley didn't even seem bothered.

"Calling me misogynistic for no reason isn't?"

"..." Ashley pursed her lips as she rinsed the mug.

"Who do you think was right in the movie?" Erik asked again.

Ashley turned the mug handle to his side and placed it on the counter, pouring the coffee.

"It was that–" She tried, "I don't even remember what the movie was about man, don't test me."

"...Right." Erik chuckled, "Forgive me for asking then."

Erik took the coffee mug with him as he turned around, the pile of clothes still tucked under his arm.

"You sure you can take it all upstairs without spilling?" Ashley asked him from behind.

"Yeah I'm sure."

"Really?" The word was a bit drawn out as she spoke.

"Absolutely, my hands are steady."

"Your sock fell off."

"..."

"..Y-your sock." Ashley spoke between a chuckle.

"I heard you."

…

The pile of clothes now lay scattered on the floor, and the new coffee stain on the carpet looked like scrub daddy's face.

Erik sat down in front of his pc after wiping the coffee off the mug's surface and bottom.

He would get to cleaning the rug and folding the laundry in a minute, but first, he had to check what was displayed on his monitor.

{Would you like to become One punch man?}

Asked the bold text now displayed in the centre of his monitor, with manga depictions of Murata's one punch man in various poses plastered around in the page.

The page offered him two options to choose from, yes or no, and the interface covered his entire monitor as even the taskbar couldn't be seen.

He tried moving his mouse, yet the cursor didn't appear.

Erik brought his hands to the edge of his keyboard, pressing the esc key. It didn't work. The window remained the same.

He tried spamming it, yet, the window remained the same.

"Ashley?" he called out, his right hand reaching out to take a sip of his coffee.

"Hmmm?"

"Did you mess with my pc while I was gone?"

"Depends. Which timeframe are we talking about here?"

"...Just now?"

"What the hell do you mean? I was with you downstairs just now, wasn't I?"

"That's what I've been thinking."

Erik tried moving the mouse once more. The cursor was nowhere to be seen, but the Yes option remained highlighted.

He tried the arrow key, and this time, it worked. The highlight shifted from Yes to No.

He pressed it again, and the highlight moved back to Yes.

"Hmmm," He hummed to himself as he clicked enter.

The interface changed.

Now, the window showed the avengers end game poster with saitama replacing tony, and wearing his infinity gauntlet.

The poster was, to his disbelief, quite well made, with the artwork and the characters blending in quite well.

The bold text in the center of the window now asked;

{Would you like to become one punch man in the Marvel universe?}

"Fuck no," Erik's answer was immediate, "The hell is saitama going to do about Thanos' snap?"

"What?" Ashley called out from downstairs.

"Nothing, just talking to myself."

"...Right?"

Erik was quite optimistic of Saitama's chances in any other universe, but in marvel where most of the bosses possessed reality bending powers, he wasn't as confident.

He used the arrow key once again, and clicked enter on no.

"Huh."

It was weird. The page went black, and a second later, it showed a buffering icon, not even the animated one.

Erik used this time to take out his phone to search for viruses of this kind. He didn't find a satisfying match, even after he added reddit at the end of the search.

Erik tried changing the keyword, but before he could check the results, the Window changed again.

It now showed the potential man himself commanding his summons to fight against Thanos. Even Mahoraga was there, sprinting or flying toward Thanos.

But the details of the image were a bit messy. Mahoraga's toes were merged together. His wheel thingy only had 6 handles, Megumi's visage was morphed into one of those generic ai made anime style boy, and the background looked too artificial. Thanos didn't even have much facial features.

It was leagues behind the earlier Artwork of Saitama in Avengers poster.

The image was, quite obviously, Ai generated. One of the earlier versions of Generative Ai models.

The bold text in the centre now read;

{Would you like to become Megumi Fushigiro in Marvel?}

Again 'yes' was highlighted.

But Erik once again decisively clicked enter on no.

Sure, having Ten Shadows Technique in Marvel would be far more versatile.

And with Mahoraga, he could adapt to anything, becoming a God-like figure. Everyone familiar with jjk knew the 'potential' of the Ten Shadows technique.

But how was he supposed to conquer Mahoraga? Even Sakuna had to pull technique out of his underwear to defeat the thing.

How was he supposed to ever grow powerful enough to conquer Mahoraga? Sure, one could argue that there were numerous opportunities for one to become strong in Marvel. But who could guarantee one could survive till then? Being a glorified suicide bomber wasn't all that nice.

Erik decisively clicked enter on No. The window once again started buffering.

Erik looked back at his phone where it showed the results to his search.

The ai summary talked about some Screen-Locking Ransomware, but before he could get into more details, the buffering on the window ended, replaced with a window of Saitama punching at Thanos with Mahoraga's wheel, now with all eight handles, floating on top of his head.

Thanos was making a surprised pikachu face, while Saitama's cape curled in such an unnatural way.

It too was, quite obviously, AI generated.

The text in the centre of the window now read;

{What about One Punch Man with Ten Shadows Technique in Marvel?}

'Yes' was still highlighted, almost as if begging him to select the option.

Erik thought about the proposition hard.

If one had One Punch Man's power on top of the versatility of Ten Shadows Technique, all of the worries would be solved.

In the manga or anime, Saitama did random calisthenics workouts for an unknown amount of time and fought monsters for an unknown amount of time, before he became as strong as he was depicted. And he continued to grow stronger with his adversary in the manga even.

Basically, his power was the threshold of his limiter being way below average, to the point where even simple workouts allowed him to get stronger without a limit.

It was quite simple actually, if one could train in calisthenics like Saitama, with the protection of Ten Shadows Techniques summons, one should have saitama's power in no time.

Which meant, he should be able to one punch even Mahoraga.

That meant… all one had to do was lie low and build up power for a while and bam. They'd have conquered Mahoraga. Basically becoming God in easy mode.

Man!! That character would be the wet dream of any overpowered protag. That would be a really interesting synopsis for a fanfiction.

He took another sip of his coffee as he reached a conclusion, and pressed enter.

At that time, his phone, sitting on the edge of the table, rang. Erik looked at it instinctively.

'Nicky?'

Erik only had the time to read the name of the caller ID, the next second, Erik disappeared from where he sat.

The Mug splashed the coffee on the cheap ergonomic chair as it fell, the ceramic mug shattering as it hit the floor.

The shorts and t-shirt Erik was wearing now rested on the chair, soaked through by the coffee.

The phone rang continuously, and outside the house, the alarm of a car rang following a loud thud.

Despite the sound of the mug shattering being loud enough to be heard from downstairs, Ashley's annoyed voice didn't come.

Just don't, brother.
Why you need Ten shadows when you already got Saitama's power?
Like what possess you to think 'I think the protagonist needs some extra puffs even with an ungodly physical capabilities.'
Saitama with Raga's adaptation? also they get stronger with the user but I don't know if he's going that route or if him getting stronger physically will make a difference in the shikigami idk

Gang I am going to honest do one or the other. There is zero synergie between the two not just on a power level but genre wise.

If you want your character to have more physical stats maybe upscale curse energy reinforcement by a bit.

Outside very specific situations, Mahoraga is just not needed.

Saitama would have the wheel on himself and bear the burden but by the time the wheel finishes analysing and Maho can come out, Saitama would have just beat them.

Basically, his power was the threshold of his limiter being way below average, to the point where even simple workouts allowed him to get stronger without a limit.
If the above was true, Saitama would have been a disabled person if his limiter was that low. People in OPM dont just start at their maximum strength point before limiter restricts them.

Most dont even reach their limit and very few reach it and an even smaller number manage to break through it.

Would recommend that you just give him that ability.

I disagree you need the adaptation to defend against all the hax in marvel. Brute force is simply not enough when your enemies can mess with your soul, mind, trap you in a space loop, destroy your universe, touch you with a tech stick and delete you out of your timestream etc etc.

Also Saitama has no limiter not simply a lower limiter.

Chapter 2 New
A/n: So yeah! I forgot I started uploading here! Well, to be frank, It crossed my mind a few times after I uploaded the first chapter, but....week got busy... here we are. Also, I changed the ending of the first chapter a little, if anyone's interested? it's kind of a foreshadowing [proud smile].
...

"Huh?"

Erik involuntarily let out an exclamation as his bare ass impacted the muddy ground.

One moment, he was sitting in his ergonomic chair, comfortable and cushy, the next, his butt impacted the ground with such power that his tailbone ached.

It was such a surreal experience, like those times when you sit down expecting a chair to be there, only to find nothing beneath you, or take a step, misjudge it, and faceplant into the ground.

The surreal sense of his mind telling him one thing and the senses other fired his flight or fight response.

He jumped up, his butt clenched, his eyes scanning the surroundings as he felt around his bare body.

'Where are my clothes?' he thought to himself, looking down at the dangling little Erik.

He looked around, taking in the surroundings, breathing in the refreshing air with the muddy scent.

All around him, towering trees stood straight, filtering out the sunlight with their massive forms. The ground was wet and muddy. All around, the hum of cicadas created an everpresent vibration, making it hard to gather any other sound.

He was… in a jungle?

"No way!" witnessing all this, Erik had only one conjunction to make.

"Have I been… Isekaied?!" he asked himself, staring into the distance between the trees.

That page filling his monitor wasn't some elaborate prank, or even some bullshit ransomware! It was a setup for transmigration?

He clasped his head in his hands, trying to gather his messy thoughts into a coherent picture.

That meant, according to what he had agreed to on the interface, he was in the marvel universe now?

Considering it was all real.

Well, he didn't have much reason to doubt it all at the moment, as he was, undeniably, not in his apartment, and it for sure wasn't nighttime.

…Or was it?

"Wait, isn't normal marvel stuff supposed to start around in New York? Why am I in a damned forest!"

'No no no, I'm jumping the gun here! What if this is all really a dream?' Erik asked himself. Afterall, he had indeed experienced very elaborate dreams of his car stalling on the freeway and himself desperately trying to push it onto the side before he became another statistic number. Those were such vivid dreams that he'd thought his car was in the shop even after he woke up.

'But the pain,' he rubbed his tailbone. Indeed, the pain in his asscheeks were as real as he understood pain to be.

"Does that mean," Erik unconsciously clenched his fist, "I now have the powers of One punch man?"

Erik looked down at his hand.

His hand was still as he remembered, even the scar from trying to cut an apple with a razor blade was there. Even the hair on his hand was as thick as he'd remembered it to be.

He subconsciously touched his head.

Fortunately enough, he wasn't bald. His succulent hair was still there!

"Does that mean I only inherited the power of one punch man?! Not baldness?!"

Erik looked at the towering tree in front of him, and to his clenched fist.

'Should I?' Erik thought to himself as a drop of sweat rolled down his temple, down his nose.

…

"aaaaaaaaa," Erik screamed in lowercase with a constipated face as he shook his hand vigorously.

There was a noticeable chip in the tree's bark at the moment, however, Erik's own knuckles were red and oozing some blood.

'Sure enough, Saitama wasn't powerful from day 1. I have to train hard.'

Erik wasn't yet ready to abandon the future he had envisioned.

It was understandable that Saitama's power needed training to unlock, but what about the supposed Ten Shadows technique? Weren't the users of the technique supposed to be given the two divine dogs as a beginner pack?

Erik sure wasn't feeling any warm or chilly aura flowing through his veins or anything. And he sure as hell didn't know how to manipulate cursed energy, if he even had the thing.

"How did Megumi Summon the thing again?" Erik thought without losing his optimism.

In jjk, Megumi used some form of hand seal to summon the divine dogs, who was supposed to be a default shikigami every ten shadows users were supposed to get.

He hadn't read Modulo, but from the few panels he'd seen on social media, even Yuta's granddaughter had them.

'Let's see, how was the handsign?'

Erik fiddled with his hand. He wasn't successful in recreating it as he'd hoped. He never dabbled in such things before, and as such, he was having a hard time.

Now, a naked man, whose butt was covered in mud, standing around, fiddling with his hands wasn't the most normal thing one would see in the forest.

The sight was comical, yet even as Erik's frustration mounted, his mind grew focused.

He continuously moved his hand, using the shadow cast by the sun as a reference, changing his hands to project the shadow of a Dog onto the ground.

He failed and failed again, yet he kept on, even as he walked away from the spot he'd spawned in. His mind wandered.

'If I really got Isekaied, what about my family? Friends? Ashley?...Nicky?...'

"Huh!" his thoughts pause and Erik let out a slight exclamation as he felt something. And his mind desperately tried to grasp at the vague feeling.

It was a slight feeling from deep within his chest, as if small ants were crawling beneath his skin. Erik involuntarily touched his chest, his handseal breaking, only for the feeling to vanish just as fast as it had appeared.

'Was that it?' Erik thought to himself, his hands scrambling to imitate the gesture it had produced earlier as he stopped in his tracks.

"Dammmit," not to his surprise, he'd actually forgotten how he'd done it earlier. He continued to fiddle with his hand, his eyes focused on the shadow in the ground.

His thoughts once again wandered. Whether he'd see the people he cared about ever again, whether there existed another version of his family in this world, whether there existed infinite versions of his loved ones, whether he'd find another version of himself in this world, whether his loved ones were killed in some villain activity, whether he was just going mad, whether he'd just start seeing Dr. Scully PsyD once this nightmare was over.

Again, that vague feeling.

Erik felt it and he grasped at it.

At last, he succeeded.

The shadow projected on the ground vaguely resembled a dog. Well, it looked more like a rabbit, but the energy rising up from his chest seemed satisfied enough as it once again rose, moving thorugh his body like a heavy sludge rolling down the drain pipe.

It felt like thousands of ants crawling over themselves as they formed a tide, threatening to engulf everything on their way.

'Right! Cursed energy is born from negative thoughts. Sooo? No more happy thoughts?'

Erik once again focused his mind, going through all the negative feelings he could muster, throwing away all his training to keep happy thoughts at the forefront. Thoughts of the rising grocery price, gas price, his student loan, the thought of losing his job, the thought of still keeping his job, his ex…

At last, he felt it, the feeling like the energy was responding to his call. He willed it around, and it felt as if the energy responded, changing direction as Erik's mind willed it.

'Is this it?' Erik thought.

*Thud*

His concentration was interrupted as something landed on the ground not too far from him. His gaze shifted, his eyes widening as he took on the black furred creature which lay on its back on the ground.

His hands unknowingly broke off the seal, yet the sludge of energy in his body didn't seem to dissipate. If anything, it seemed to pick up pace, flowing faster and thicker as it responded to his growing dread.

The black mass on the ground wreathed as it stood up on its hind legs, its hands clutching a massive piece of honeycomb dipping glistening dark golden honey on the ground.

Above the tree a mass of bees circled their broken nest, for some reason, not coming down to attack the bear.

The black bear seemed to stumble as it fell on its rear with a snort, its big back leaned against the tree. Its free hand plunged deep into the piece of honey comp as it scooped out a chunk covered in larva and thick honey.

The bear popped it into its mouth, chomping down on it as it stared down Erik only a few meters away.

'Should I play dead?'

Erik gulped down his saliva, fighting the urge to just lay flat on the ground. He didn't know for sure if it would work or if that was just a story. He remembered reading somewhere it didn't work on some kind of bear. Which kind of bear was it again?

The bear licked its paws clean, only to plunge it back onto the honeycomb, scooping out another chunk of larva and thick honey, its eyes still fixated on him.

Erik tried moving his feet. Slowly.

Yet, just as his leg moved, the bear leaned forward, looking just about ready to abandon its lunch and sprint forward at him.

Inside him, the energy seemed to grow even more restless, flowing throughout his body as its viscosity decreased.

At the moment, his mind was devoid of much of the incessant thoughts that kept pestering him. The existential crisis, the thought of his family and friends, his ex, his job, none of it came back to him.

The only thing clouding his mind at the moment was the dread of the monster he'd only seen locked up behind a cage looking at him square in the eye with only some meters separating them, and the absolute certainty that he had to do something to survive this ordeal.

The bees buzzed above the canopy, seemingly wanting to tear at everything in the vicinity, yet, holding their ground.

Erik's hands once again moved, slowly, ever so slowly as the bear licked its paws once again clean.

His hand once again recreated the handsign for before, the energy inside him shooting in fluidity once again, rolling around in his body.

He willed it to his hands in a desperate measure, yet, the energy didn't obey him.

Beads of sweat rolled down Erik's back.

His hands, at the moment, as if being guided by instincts long forgotten, rearranged itself, emitting the shadow of a dog's head onto the ground. Erik felt the sludge of grating energy moving throughout his body, down his legs onto the soles of his bare feet, trickling in small currents into the earth, more precisely, onto his shadow.

At that moment, the non-stop chirping of the cicadas stopped abruptly. The bees stopped buzzing, a major part of them falling to the ground with a pitter patter as if it was raining.

His shadow expanded, feeding on the chilling sludge of energy trickling from him, writhing as it spread across the ground.

At that moment, the bear slammed the piece of honeycomb onto the ground as it let out a roar, its clawed paws scraping against the forest floor as it pushed up the dirt and dead leaves onto the air, lunging at the puny monkey which gave it such intense sense of unease.

At the same time, the writhing shadow coalesced, as two black masses began to form within it, the dark, liquid-like shadow parting around them as they took shape.

The Divine Dogs emerged before him, facing toward the charging bear as Erik stood rooted to the spot, partly in fear and partly by the overwhelming rush of energy he felt draining from him.

The towering bodies of the Dogs reached past his chest.

No, with no manner of understanding could one call them Dogs. Their size alone warranted them being called wolves.

They were big and menacing, exuding an aura that chilled the surroundings.

Erik didn't give any commands, he never had the opportunity. As soon as the Dogs were fully formed, the force that rooted him onto the floor vanished, and he backpedaled.

At the same time, the White Dog with the dots on its head lunged to the side of the massive black bear.

The bear didn't seem to notice, its eyes aimed only at Erik.

The Black Dog seemed nonchalant, just calmly standing there, its tail wagging softly.

The White Dog slammed the bear from its left side, the dog's own massive maw clamped against the Bear's neck, its razor sharp teeth cutting through the bear's thick fur and hide with ease.

The massive bear was thrown off the ground, its front paws trailing through the air as its back was slammed against one of the trees. The trees canopy shook, dead leaves floating down onto the ground, dirt and debris flying.

At that time, the White Dog shook its head violently, yanking its head back with a ferocious crunch.

Half of the bear's throat was gone, and the White Dog simply chomped down on the piece in its mouth, swallowing it in one gulp. The Bear flailed, swatting with its massive claws at the air, at the invisible adversary.

Yet, the White Dog simply turned its head, its maws chomping down on the bear's paw as it yanked the entire hand off the Bear's torso.

What followed was a massacre, where the White dog simply tore into the bear without an ounce of mercy.

'Holy!'

Erik had to turn his head away so as to not look at the carnage any longer.

At the same time, seeing as the prey had been neutralised, the Black Dog turned to look at him, its eyes glinting with innocence, its tail wagging as if looking for praise.

Erik gulped down his saliva.

…

'Are they bigger than Megumi's?'

Erik couldn't help but ask himself. He now stood on a clearing to the side where the bear had been mercilessly massacred. In front of him sat the two obedient big puppies, looking for all the world like the most innocent things in the world.

At least they would've looked innocent had it not been for the blood and gore covering the body of the white dog. Only a few feet apart, Erik could smell the stench. The Black Dog stood there, its mane pristine, its big eyes shining.

Erik didn't know what he was expecting, but two murder mittens, both by the looks of things, capable of taking care of such a massive bear with such frightening ease… he'll take it without question.

More importantly, this cemented a fact. Indeed, what he was experiencing was real.

If this was all still some sort of elaborate illusion his brian was conjuring for some reason, he definitely needed to see a Doctor when he woke up.

Erik shook off his distracting thoughts as he looked at the Divine Dog's once again.

The Dogs stood in their position, their eyes unblinking, their tails stiff and straight, staring right at him.

Erik gulped hard as he walked forward, his hands outstretched.

The Dogs were menacing, yes. Yet, he had this instinctive understanding that indeed, that they wouldn't harm him, indeed they would act with him, as his eyes and ears, and indeed that they were cute.

His hands grazed past their foreheads, where the contrasting dots were, ruffling both their mane at the same time, his right hand absolutely getting slick with sticky blood.

They leaned into it, their tails losing its stiffness as they whirled into a dance.

The black one was nonchalant as it leaned into his hand, while the White one's tongue hung loose, its throat rumbling quietly as it pushed its head more into his hand, onto his body.

"Hahaha!" Erik let out the breath he was holding, it coming out as laughter.

It was as if someone had slapped a filter on his senses. The overwhelming stench and graphics of the blood and gore didn't affect him in the slightest.

They were so cute.

Even he, a cat person, had to agree on that fact.

…

"Hmm, so what can you guys do?" Erik asked enthusiastically, standing proud, hands on his hips.

The dogs sat there, looking at him.

"Right. You already demonstrated that."

He looked at the white one, and said, "I'll call you whitie."

That earned him a disapproving look from the enthusiastic dog. Its wagging tail slowed down, and its perky ears flattened as it let out a whimper.

"What? You didn't like that?" Erik grimaced, "It's a fine, functional name though."

The black dog shook its head.

"Gasp," Erik looked at the Black Dog, "Are you judging me?"

"Alright, I admit that was uninspired." He shook his head.

Erik thought for a moment.

"Are you a girl? Do you guys even have gender?" He asked the white dog.

The White Dog looked at the Black Dog. The Black Dog shook its head at the white one, and the black one, in turn, shook its head at Erik.

"Right. Wait, which question were you guys answering? Cause I didn–" The White Dog gave him a blank look, while the black one looked on seemingly in amusement.

"Alright, let's take this slow," Erik sighed to himself.

"Do you guys have gender?" he asked, again, his hands clasped.

The Black Dog nodded, followed by the white one.

"Do you both know your gender?"

Both of them nodded at the same time.

"Alright, you, white one. Are you a boy?"

The White Dog again looked at the Black Dog, who nodded.

But before the White Dog could in turn nod his head at Erik, Erik waved his hand.

"Alright I get it. From henceforth, you," He pointed at the White furred creature, "shall be called Bucky!"

Bucky's tail started wagging strongly at that. His ears sat straight up, his tongue handing loose as he panted.

He looked as though he wanted to run up to Erik at that moment, yet, he held himself back.

"And you?"

Erik looked at the black one.

"Are you a boy?" he asked.

The dog shook its head calmly.

"Alright, are you a girl?"

The dog nodded her head.

"Alright, you shall be called Cat from now on," Erik continued after a pause, "I had a cat back at home named Cat, her mane was the same sheen as yours. And she was so nonchalant. You remind me of her."

Erik looked proud of himself.

And Cat accepted her name calmly, her tail wagging at the constant pace it always had.

"You like the name?" Erik was unsure from what he was seeing.

Cat calmly nodded her head, and in Erik's mind, he felt the strong emotion of approval.

"Ohh! Did you do that?" Erik asked, surprise evident in his voice. And this time, he felt it in his mind clearly. It wasn't a distinct yes, but a strong sense of agreement. He didn't know Shikigami could do that!

"I knew you'd like it, come gimme a hug!"

The shikigami lunged forward.

"Man! It's so fucking cold out here."

Now, a naked man, his butt covered in caked mud hugging and rubbing at the air wasn't the most sane thing one could see out in the woods.

Yet, there was a smile on Erik's face.

One movie everyday, till Avengers: Encore released in theaters. That'd give him plenty of time to watch all the movies, from Captain America: The first Avenger to Spider Man: The Brand New Day.
That's a fair thing to do.
"Fuck no," Erik's answer was immediate, "The hell is saitama going to do about Thanos' snap?"
Easy enough he shrugs it off. Saitama has a Broken Limiter and amazing Adaptation. Guy learned how to travel back in time after seeing the technique necessary to do it only once. The key to Saitama becoming stronger is Emotions and Strong Opponents.

Also did you see the Goku vs Saitama Death Battle? I don't know about you, but I liked the way the result was done. Goku needed Ultra Instinct combined with a X100 Kaioken after noticing how Saitama was catching up to him.

Chapter 3 New
Good day people! Here I am, yet again. i really wanted to say something important, but... I forgot. Well, see y'all.
...
Erik jogged through the woods, his bare feet crunching against the occasional dry leaves and twigs. The soft soles of his feet weren't used to operating outside the comfort of soft socks and padded sneakers, catching scratches from even dry leaves. Fortunately, blood had yet to be drawn.

He didn't know for sure where he was. The overall atmosphere and the vegetation gave him the idea that he was somewhere in North America. Now, he was no expert in these kinds of things, but given that he grew up on a farm, he knew something.

Earlier he had sent Bucky and Cat to search his surroundings for any signs of settlement.

And he wasn't disappointed. Cat in particular had found a shack which looked to be a trekking shelter of some kind.

It was good news.

That meant there was some form of human movement down here.

At least it wasn't some godforsaken nowhere.

Maybe he'd be able to find some information on the trail from the shelter? He could trek pretty comfortably with both Bucky and Cat by his side. They were absolutely reliable after all.

He knew he was in good hands, just from the example of the bear alone! Not to mention Shikigami couldn't be seen by beings without cursed energy.

He jogged following the trail leading up to the shelter, following his intuition on the path Cat had taken to reach there.

He'd deliberately made Cat wait in the shack to get himself familiar with the function of this facet of the ability.

It was an instinctual understanding, as if he'd already passed this place on his own two legs. Yet he'd never. Cat had, and somehow, parts of her memories or senses, whatever it was, were influencing him.

This ability to communicate, for some reason, worked better on Cat. And he was determined to find the limits of it.

He would send Cat later down the trail to scout for any clues, but for now, he had to get to the shelter.

On another note, he had already started the saitama routine of 100 pushups, 100 squats, 100 sit-ups, and 10 kilometre run.

He had already completed about 30 pushups, pushing himself with everything he got. Don't get him wrong. Erik wasn't an unathletic person. Ever since he started college, he'd been going to the gym regularly.

But, he wasn't much of a calisthenics or even a cardio guy. He was the guy in a Gym who would just smash weights, and would never do a single round of cardio. Put him on a treadmill, and he'd be down before a Gym girl even warms up.

For him, 30 consecutive pushups was… quite the challenge. Especially with an aching hand which had unfortunately shed blood against the resilient bark of an ancient tree.

All he now had to do was 70 more pushups, 100 squats, and 100 situps, and a 10 km run minus however long he'd already jogged.

'Right. Be optimistic Erik, you can do it.'

Erik spat out the thick saliva pooling in his mouth.

He jogged up the hill, panting and wheezing as Bucky followed worriedly behind him.

He'd called the murder mitten back from the reconnaissance duty once he'd understood he stood no chance against one of those bears if he, with his luck, encountered one. And for this particular mission, Cat seemed better suited. After all, swatting idle Cicadas off trees for no reason hardly counted as reconnaissance.

The white furball was still covered in blood, now dried a little. He wondered if other people could see the blood. The silhouette of Bucky outlined in blood jogging through the woods seemed… positively terrifying to Erik's imagination.

At that moment, Erik spotted a signage by the trail, pointing up the mountain.

[10 miles Saint Lawrence County Monument]

[Five Ponds of Wilderness]

"..."

He looked down at Bucky who was looking up at him.

"I have no idea where we're at Bud, we're screwed."

Bucky just barked at him, rubbing on his legs with his head.

"Right! We're not screwed! I have you! And your sister…or friend…whatever."

He jogged along, and after a few minutes spotted the shelter built into the side of the hill, and the absolute unit of a Doggie sitting in front of it.

"Cat!" He called out between wheezes, "There you are! You're a lifesaver!"

He walked toward the shelter, where Cat was crouched, looking at them. She came forward, letting Erik lean on her as he took deep breaths to ease the burning in his lungs.

Erik took in the second man made structure he'd seen since his apparent transmigration.

The Shelter looked to be made of stone, built into the side of a hill, with a wooden door and frame. Moss covered its stone walls, and shed leaves covered its slanted roof.

The sun cast flickering shadows inside the cabin as Erik opened the door.

Inside there was one single bench, and a stone stove.

There was nothing else, not so much as a single piece of rag.

Erik wasn't expecting much though.

He stepped outside, and looked at the visible sun hovering above the canopy of the towering trees.

It was past noon for one thing and now he understood where the west was. He now just had to make up his mind on where north and south was. Not that it would matter much. Even if he knew the cardinal directions, which way was he supposed to go? Maybe he could find some map on that big billboard thing parks have?

Could he even make it out of this place by sun down?

Erik looked around at the monotonous forest terrain when he heard a movement to his right. He turned around, and a hare whizzed past behind him, onto a burrow on the side of the hill. Both Bucky and Cat had their eyes glued to the thing, but they didn't try to catch it.

That helped Erik remember something.

He had to find something to eat.

The last thing he'd eaten was a single sandwich and a smoothie, serving both as lunch and dinner. He was planning to sneak some of Ashley's soup out of the fridge once she'd gone to bed. But, now, he was here.

He didn't know how long it'd been, but his stomach was starting to complain.

Should he somehow find a way to catch the rabbit? Erik thought for a while. Erik figured he'd be able to put together some fire with enough time, but.

How was he supposed to prepare it without so much as a single piece of equipment?

On the other hand, there was a pond near the muddy place he'd been transported. Maybe there'd be some fish there? In any case, it'd be easier to prepare fish rather than a rabbit.

Catching it was the issue.

He looked at Cat who sat there quietly, and Bucky who was crouching about to jump a squirrel looking thing who had run on top of the shelter.

"You guys know how to fish?"

….

Erik sat by the pond, ruffling Cat's hair as he pondered, watching Bucky batting down the fishes who had come up to the surface to breathe.

It was a comical sight, and it had taken him seeing this inefficient method to realise one thing.

Ten shadows technique was a shadow technique! Megumi always used to jump people from his shadows.

"Bucky!"

Bucky looked up from his swatting session at Erik.

"You're a shikigami for God's sake! Jump the fish from its shadow or something!"

Bucky looked at him for a second, barked, and dived.

Erik pursed his lips, and leaned back onto Cat's fur. Whatever. He'd figure things out with time.

Now that he'd mentioned it, he too should be able to move through his shadow!

Erik sat up straight, Cat turning to look at Erik, her wagging tail now silent.

Megumi always used to jump around through shadows. Even going through literal walls with his power.

He too should be able to do it.

Erik focused on the sensation he'd felt when he'd summoned Bucky and Cat. He'd never tried to unsummon them, in fear that he wouldn't be able to summon them back when it mattered. But he'd remembered the sensation vividly enough. It was as if it was etched onto his soul.

The feeling, the sensation of his shadow being a tangible thing that moulded them out of it.

He focused on that sensation, that of sinking into it. He imagined the feeling of himself sinking into water, like the time he'd nearly drowned himself in their pond back at their farm.

Then he felt it, he himself being submerged in something foreign yet familiar. Something tangible yet intangible. Something.

Erik opened his eyes.

All around him was pitch black, and he could see absolutely nothing. Yet, he could perceive his surroundings. He felt Cat looking at him, more precisely at the ground with curiosity. He could feel Bucky swimming back onto the shore with a carp between his jaws. He could feel the rustle of the leaves, the warmth of the sun, slowly creeping toward the horizon.

More importantly, he could feel the shadows that were adjacent to him, the shadows of the trees that stretched toward the horizon. Of the shadows between the grains of sand on the shore, of the minute shadows cast on the pond's bank, of the shadows cast by the fish as they swam past.

Cat didn't cast a shadow, nor did Bucky.

He felt all of it, the tangible shadow pressing against him from all angles, the darkness all around.

And finally, the sense of suffocation as the breath he was holding in ran out of oxygen.

Erik's pupils dilated. His hands flailed in a frantic paddle as he tried to swim out of the dark dimension he was in. He didn't know how to swim.

But knowing swimming wasn't going to help him in any way. The shadow didn't have any physical sense to paddle against. Yet, it had a weight that pressed against him from all sides. And a pull that came from the depths of the abyss which felt like a snare on his ankles.

His heart started beating faster and faster, his mind sending out signals to both Bucky and Cat subconsciously.

Cat, who had sensed something wrong, dived into the pool of shadow in the ground. While Bucky dived to the depths of the water, the carp falling out of his jaws.

Erik nearly drowned in his own technique, before both Cat and Bucky saved him and pushed him onto the shore.

Erik took huge mouthfuls of breath as both Cat and Bucky stood over him. Their concerns was… quite evident in their faces.

'That'd been the dumbest way for me to die!'

Erik thought to himself. At least a bit of thought, and he wouldn't've done something so stupid.

He looked at Bucky.

"D-did you catch the fish?"

Bucky froze, and dived again, but this time, into the shadow of the tree.

…

It took a whole lot of rubbing a dry piece of twig against a dry piece of log before he made some ember. And it took a furious amount of blowing on his part before he figured out he needed something easily flammable for the fire to catch on. And it took dismantling an abandoned bird nest before any usable fire was made.

In hindsight, gutting the fish was easy. Both Cat and Bucky had razor-like claws after all.

Carp skewered on sticks roasted over smoky fire.

Hmmm. Delicious.

Erik didn't find it delicious. The muddy, earthy flavor of the fish stood out a tad too much, and with no seasoning in sight, it was a chore to push it down after the first four bites.

Bucky and Cat had, for some reason, refused to partake in the delicacy. Bucky was far more interested in swimming, while Cat seemed to like looking into the flickering fire. Barring the fire spreading over the dry patch of grass, which was, by his own oversight, quite close to the makeshift bonfire, it was a peaceful dinner.

Spitting out the needle-like small fish bone, Erik remembered something.

The Bear! Why didn't he think of that before?!!

No, he wasn't thinking about eating the bear. He'd seen the stringy, writhing spaghetti like parasites Bucky had pulled out of the bear's guts. No way in hell he was going to eat that thing.

No, he was thinking about the honeycomb. The honey! Why didn't he think of it before! Did fish go well with honey? He couldn't help but think!
