Oh, the Return of the Slaughterhouse Nine arc could be closed off in a chapter, sure. It was basically resolved and only needed an aftermath anyway. But the fic as a whole... well, it just doesn't seem like it's done. The S9 didn't feel like a concluding arc, but a middle one. It's a great fic, and it deserves a final arc that was written as a finale; ending it now would make it feel like a TV show that got cancelled abruptly at the end of a season, after they'd finished the current plot but without time to tie everything together into a satisfying narrative conclusion.

Um. One last arc, comparable in length to the previous ones, but written with the express purpose of being a climax to the entire story, rather than just resolving it's own arc-bound conflicts. Callbacks to earlier arcs, in particular Chekhov's guns going off. Resolve outstanding character arcs, potentially including resolutions being ones that break the status quo ('I'm resigning to be with my family', 'I've learned to stand on my own now, so I'm moving away', that type of stuff). Your initial post on the indicates you don't have a pre-plotted overarching storyline the way you did for, say, Security!, but you've proven the ability to adapt anyway to the point where no one would no you didn't have it all planned out from the get-go. And that is, essentially, what I'm asking you to do: give us something that makes the reader go 'This. This is what the whole story was working up to. This is where the story has been going, all along. I am sorry that it is done, but I can see that it is done.'.

I might be able to supply a bit more detail in what I'd like to see - particular questions unanswered, arcs unfinished - but first I'd have to reread the story to date with that specifically in mind and take notes. Do you want me to do that? If you're willing to do a proper job of giving the story a satisfying conclusion, I'm certainly willing to put in the effort to help; it's been a couple years, but I've done editing and assistant writing for fics before. But even then, I can only point out what I feel needs to be resolved and, if you wish, critique whatever plans you come up with. I can't tell you how to make a satisfying capstone to the story; there's a reason you're an accomplished author and I am not.

You might want to strike out your previous post, for the benefit of latecomers. I'll start a reread of OMT as soon as I finish the fic I'm reading now, and I'll keep notes on anything I see that calls out for resolution.

Are there any old baddies that can return for one last go-around after the grand climax? Bonus points if it was the first baddie. "Oh, shit, we forgot about..." is a perfectly valid way to do a final arc. Tolkien even did it.

Only ones I can think of off the top of my head are the remains of the ABB, since Coil is gone, and I think they took out Lung already, just leaves Oni Lee and Bakuda.

Maybe take out the E88 in the process.

One More Trigger is up. I, Panacea is on the block. Next story in line is probably going to be All Alone, followed by Trump Card, then maybe Meet the Heberts.

Also, I've finished off the Slaughterhouse Nine arc in It Gets Worse, and I'm working on Price of Blood. For August, my commissions will be One Bad Day and It Gets Worse, because it can always get worse. For the bad guys of course.
