    I remember that.

There was also that time he ended up in the danger room fighting Sentinels. Might have been the same episode, but I can't quite recall.

Reminded me a lot of the X-men and their behavior during the Secret wars. "If you aren't a mutant, fuck off!"

Like, I remember Xavier whining about how the other super powered people couldn't understand them, so they had to leave. Spidy ended up mopping the floor with the X-men until Xavier mind wiped him.

Mind you, there had been ZERO evidence that the rest of Team Good were anti-mutant. Fuck, the HULK was there. As was Thor.

Something people seem to be forgetting about 90s TV Rogue.

She's touch starved by choice, the X-Men in that setting have access to power nullifying collars that they can just slip on any time they want their powers turned off.

Assuming that Paul Reubens did the voice of the AI in Flight of the Navigator, it still sounds like that.
    I assume so.
This one with this one mixed in.

    Huh, must have forgotten that.

Which means that both She Hulk (who is even Sexier than Rouge) and Doctor Strange should be very much a part of this universe.

Will admit, that particular version of She-Hulk got some rather....interesting....line readings in the show.

I'm aware, but that's not what Americans say. If the speaker says "specialty" they probably don't use "tuition" to mean "instruction."

I'm American, and I've only ever heard "Tuition" used in regards to paying for college. As in "I"m not paying for next years tuition."

It's an abbreviation of 'tuition fees'.

Kon looks at the quietly hyperventilating M'gann with concern.

    "Are..? You okay?"

"Yes! Why wouldn't I be? I'm just about to be the first White Martian to ever join the Manhunters."

Wallace frowns. "I thought you were.. kind of a Manhunter anyway."

M'gann just about gets her breathing under control now that she has something to distract her. "No, I was-. I am an auxiliary trainee. That's not the same thing."

Kon nods. "So if we went back to Mars, those guys wouldn't hassle you when you land the ship?"

"They-." M'gann looks at me for a moment, then returns her attention to him. "Probably not. What Paul.. did… Is going to change everything about the way Martian society works." … "Again."

"If it was fixed, I wouldn't have needed to break it."

Kon glance my way. "You know, Mom says more Amazons are starting to worship Eris because of you?"

"I didn't know that she says that, but it doesn't surprise me that it's happening. Anything I can do to help with the preparation for your investiture?"

M'gann shakes her head. "No, no, it's not complicated. I just stand there, talk to Commander K'arr and Prince J'emm for a few moments and then I'm a Manhunter."

Kaldur nods. "So the significance is in the symbolism."

"Mostly. I don’t-. Talk to Red Martians a lot."

"Hey." Kon walks up to her and lays his hands on her shoulders. "Last year you fought a Martian who was made of fire. You can handle talking to one who's red."

"If it would help, you could turn yourself Red and we could throw things at you."

Her eyes widen in shock. "I can't turn myself Red! That would-!"

"From what Hkronmar said, it sounded like Karmang wouldn't have had a problem with it."

    "Well-. He's-. Not-. Modern."

Kaldur nods. "The closest equivalent in Atlantean society to Karmang the Good is Ahri'ahn, the great sorcerer who designed the spells which allows Atlanteans to live in the ocean. He is generally referred to as the founder of our magic traditions."

M'gann frowns. "Do Purists say he's the reason why Atlanteans with fish body parts should be discriminated against?"

"No. Ahri'ahn's legacy is one of rationalism. Purism in the modern context is more a product of the concentration of 'pure' Atlanteans around centres of power than any ancient teaching."

"Venturia doesn't have a Purist movement. Their eelfolk have never suffered any level of discrimination."

"But citizens of other cities could only visit Venturia with an escort."

M'gann looks from Kaldur to me.

    "Please don't start."

    "Sorry." / "I apologise."

Wallace looks puzzled. "I thought J'emm was the guy who was trying to end racism in his city anyway. Why is meeting him scary?"

"Well… He wasn't so much ending discrimination as he was ending legal acceptance of some demonstrations of it. Like I said, I couldn't be a Manhunter until now. And… Well, how would you feel if the head of the FDA wanted to talk to you about your healing potions?"

"Ah… Relieved that someone was finally listening to us about them?" M'gann flatly stares at him. "Okay, yeah, I'd be kinda nervous, but not this nervous."

"The head of the FDA isn't also a church elder who never meets people from your neighbourhood."

"My church doesn't have elders, but.. okay." Wallace shrugs. "I don't think I have an equivalent. But it's only gunna be a couple of minutes and even if it goes badly, you're still on the team. Not that it will."

"Thanks, Wally." She checks the kitchen clock. "I'm sure that Prelate J'emm is a perfectly nice person, and that I'm worrying for nothing. But I'm worrying anyway."

Wallace frowns. "What exactly does Manhunter do for the Martian government?"

"Well, he mostly keeps an eye on Earth."

    "Sensible."

"He sends reports back to Mars on Earth government, space exploration, anything that could affect Mars really. And he tries to get people on Mars interested in coming here. And that… Hasn't really worked."

Kon smirks. "J'aarkn seemed to like it."

"That wasn't really what he was going for."

"Are the thousands of Martians here now a success?"

"They all come from a city that didn't allow them access to Uncle J'onn's reports, so, no."

    "They'd seen Mister J'aarkn's reports."

She rolls her eyes. "Martians and humans are quite a lot like each other in some ways. Did you..? Talk to him?"

"No, I haven't seen him since he left Earth. Though given how many Martians have viewed his memories I suspect that he's doing fine."

"W-wait." Wallace looks a little concerned. "That.. Martian adult film guy? That's how Martians-? I mean, that's their point of reference for Earth?"

I chuckle. "Yes, the planet of shapeshifting telepaths think that we're the kinky ones."

"Yeah, but… That's all they know about Earth culture. And Manhunter's more of a military attaché than a cultural one."

"I'll ask Mister B'lanx to put something together."

    M'gann checks the clock again.

"Okay. I'm going to go." She stretches up to kiss Kon, then steps away and heads towards the hangar. "Wish me luck."

    "Good luck!"

We watch her go, then Wallace turns to me.

"Hey Oh El, are you sticking around-?" My ring blinks. "I guess not."

"We are in a rather large war. Answer."

    Dox's head appears.

"They're counter attacking. Return at once."

"Alright, I'll-." He vanishes. "I'll be with you shortly."

Is the title of this episode Back Door because Paul will find one in the Reach's systems, or the other way around? Also that should be 'once'.

Heh, it sure it considering how a crazy deathworld Earth is! Honestly, Mars has gotten off easy just being in the same system as Earth in general and being much more boring by comparison.

Heck, it helped them avoid culling by the not-Dark Eldar and their whole world's geopolitical situation being turned on its head... from the violent attack at least. Cultural revolution is much better than spine riders.

    Congrats.

    'she said that'

    maybe 'preparations'

    Such a sweety.

And both he and Karmang are kinda mental.

Karmang with the terrorist attacks and Ahri'ahn with altering the various cities of Atlantis due to some messed up personal belief.

Would Ahri'ahn have really seen purebloods as being superior to other grafts, or would he have viewed them as equal but just different?

Also it's spelled 'Ahri'ahn' not 'Ari'ahn', at least according to all the stuff I could find about him.

It's like meeting the leader of your country.

    'sends'

    Yes, yes it is.

Nice, a chance to see the team. It's been a while since we've had any real screen-time for most of them...

;) You just seem a little... Nervous.

I suspect most Manhunters who might have heard of her think of her as a child playing at copying an elder. It seems totally in character...

Yes, we're all gung-ho about OL's messing with Martian culture to end racism, but what about the people it affects, hmm? What of the average citizen from more moderate communities who don't see that colour discrimination in action...

Oh, boy. How bad are the prank wars? :p I doubt they could match up to anything OL's managed in his displays of worship...

Aw, our little lady, all grown up...

Probably never saw one in person before she left Mars...Turns out becoming a superhero is good for your social life, huh?

Oh, man, that would be an insult and a half...

Heck, you could turn yourself purple with pink polka-dots if you wanted to...

Another old asshole. And also of dubious mortality, in the comics at least...

In other words, they moved into the cities and quietly took charge, and by the time everyone had settled down, they were just too entrenched to do anything about...

Admittedly, the Eelfolk could probably tear your face off if you crossed them... Seriously, some fish have crazy teeth...

Not quite vitriolic best buds, are they? Guess Kaldur's still a little put out over the whole secession thing OL stuck his nose into.

Well, who's someone you'd be worried about meeting, hmm?

Oh, just wait until it actually happens, then you'll see how nervous you'll be.

 Oh, goddammit, Wally, shouldn't you know about not taunting Murphy by now?

Besides the whole 'being a cop' thing?

Damn straight, have you seen how crazy Earth gets?

I suspect he wanted people a bit higher-class to visit...

I wonder how many are getting caught up now, if they can? Compared to the number partying like their first spring break?

Oh god, I was joking about the spring break thing. I hope they don't honestly believe society works on Porn Logic...

I know, right? At least they've got plenty of anatomical references, at least? :D

Well, the Martian planetary council didn't seem to think it necessary to make arrangements for more cultured contact... So that's on them.

I'm a little curious as to how they're getting there, assuming the ceremony is on Mars. Without a Lantern providing express transit, it's quite the trip, even at the planets' closest points...

Ah, Duty (and the main plot) calls.

    It's big, then.

Hey, he got the message to you, no need to stop and chat when he's got tactical command to manage.

And back to the war plot we go. One upside of the Greediport, I guess. OL can take short breaks anywhere in the galaxy, basically, and is never out of range... Still, sometimes it's as bad as living within five minutes of your workplace. You always get to be the first one called when they need help...

Now I'm imagining all the hilarious accidents that are going to happen because they may think pornography is real life.

Though it may help them in some ways.

    It helped Castiel.

No, as he's mirroring what Kon said in the previous sentence.
    I'm reasonably sure that's correct.
Ahri'ahn made the people he already saw as superior into purebloods. Ahri'ahn was Lovecraft-level racist.
    Thank you, corrected.

To be fair, seeing as she's a teenager they may have a point.

In some cases, yeas, in others, like Peter Parkers, not so much.

I'm more familiar with his n52 self, but he was crazy in that, so yeah.

And Zoat confirmed that by comparing his racism with a guy who Red from OSP called 'less a man with issues and more a bunch of issues in the shape of a man'.

Or she just doesn't want to see them argue.

    Apparently he still doesn't.

As shown in my previous post featuring the dark haired Constantine cosplayer, you'll note that it can work out sometimes.

I appreciate Paul taking a break from the interstellar hyperwar to completely upend Martian society. Just nipping out for a bit of protestantism, back in a jiff.

It can be, but it can also be correct as is, much as you could say "I'm not paying for next year's entertainment/education/lessons" or many other mass nouns. The fact that it came to mean the fee instead of the thing the fee was paying for would appear to me to be more of a vocabulary issue than leaving out a word. If you don't know what "tuition" means, but you know all the other words, especially "pay", and have an informal sense of grammar, then I guess that could happen. That said, I'm not an American, have only been there for short visits a handful of times, and haven't made any great study of their linguistic patterns, so I can't claim to understand how that happened.

It's a case by case basis, often seems to be an aspect of the powers themselves.

Cyclops and Havok are more than immune, attacking each other in fact only supercharges them. They are both solar powered, so they absorb each other's energies.

However, Cyclops isn't immune to his other brother Gabriel's powers. Or at least not immune when Gabriel wasn't using solar energy, whereas Gabriel was immune to his brother's attacks, because he can absorb any type of energy.

Captain Britain was shown to be immune to Psylocke's telepathic dagger, since Captain Britain absorbs magic like Superman absorbs solar energy, I conclude from that Psylocke's psychic powers in fact function by manipulating magical energy. Since Brian isn't a mutant it can't be a "mutant siblings can't effect each other" thing. And Psylocke definitely isn't immune to her other brother's powers, since he used his matter manipulation powers to bring her back from the dead.

Emma Frost's sister Adrienne was immune to her telepathy, on the other hand Emma's daughters the stepford cuckoos share a telepathic hive mind, which certainly wouldn't work if they were immune to each other's telepathy.

True, but maybe some of the Martians didn't read the full report and just stopped when they saw the porn, so some hilarity may still happen.

I'm also assuming that Gaudim, that little demon from Lucifer, taught Lumen, his angelic brother, about human sex the way Castiel learned it.
