Apparently the reason Chinese web novels label America as "Lighthouse Country" (aside from dodging censorship) is to mock America, it's referring to that poem about America, 'You are the light of the world...' and those other references to 'beacons' and 'city on a hill', like '... we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.'

So there's a Pokemon character in Gold/Silver named Earl Dervish (Giovanni in the Japanese lmao), whose Chinese name is "初始", which means "beginning" or "initial", so those MTL Pokemon stories keep saying "Earl Dervish Pokemon" when they're supposed to be trying to say "Starter Pokemon" because no one fixed this error in the MTL's word bank.
