    Have you seen those "weather apocalypse" type stories? The most common is the one that copies that one LN->webcomic where world permawintered and 1/1000 people became x-men, MC got space powers, etc. Another is the world permaburned and MC got space powers, bought a glacier, etc.

    The best is probably the one where the moon stopped and world became half permaday and half permanight

    I just think that this kind of generic setting (sometimes with zombies, maybe) can be a good addition to the game setting + simultaneous isekai story. Maybe if it's a gestalt apocalypse, add stories like highschool of the dead and resident evil into the mixture, that might be nicer too, but I'm not sure which ones can be used.

    Asuna wasn't originally supposed to play but the author "forced" her to find a "sudden interest" in wearing her brother's Nervegear. Without Death's Game, Asuna would have been married to Sugou and it was over for her.

    Sachi was closer to Kirito but the author rewrote their relationship. never forgave Reiki for that, there was a better way.

    Do you have any other settings like that, because right now I can only think of Cyberpunk, Pokemon, and Jin Yong Wuxia out of the bunch that can still hold up the "game settings+simultaneous isekai+chat room" thing. It's more blatantly a "fun" story rather than a story that sets out to do something, of course, but there's nothing wrong with that

    I saw this pretty good gamer type story where it's sort of like danmachi, but only the MC can treat the world as a game, and everyone else is an NPC or a mob, but they all have intelligence, and monsters respawn, so they are considered yaoguai, and dungeons/instances are called secret realms

    The "dungeons" aspect also works like not just with a wuxia+yaoguai setting, but also if it's like a modern Pokemon setting, with secret realms and stuff, and it can also work with a lot of series that have games, such as superhero settings
