Beholder Quest

Yeah, I know I should go update Mage Quest, but whatever.

A few things before we start. This quest is based on D&D, but things will be more abstract than the game itself. This means that there will be no rolling of dice, +4 to strength or anything like that. There will still be levels (sort of), though. This is because I'm not very familiar with the system itself, and I found that part the most confusing. The exception to this is spells, because I expect you all to go beholder mage and for some reason, I can understand the spellcasting system.

Nice. Beholder Mages are so broken it's funny. Are you using Lords of Madness? Based on the OP, it's pretty funny harsh for our beholder to be born as one of the few sane members of his kind and then have us inflicted on him!

Sorry for not updating yesterday, but I had a SAC I had to complete.

You decide to head north. Rising from the small clearing among the forest in which your mother made its lair, you push your spiracles to their limit. After all, you don't want to get eaten/petrified/killed horribly when your mother comes out again. You see the other baby beholders that weren't eaten too scatter in all directions as you leave.

During your flight north, you keep just a few meters above the treetop, occasionally descending to drink some water and to eat some grass.

Finally, night comes and you decide you need to rest for a while. You remain above the trees, so that wild animals won't attack you during your sleep. Or at least, any that can do any serious harm.

But just as you're about to go to sleep, you hear strange noises coming from a short distance away. They sound like a small creature is panicking. You...

You decide to investigate before you rest. Whatever animal that's making the noise is obviously different from all the other ones, as the sounds made are more... complex, with more variation.

You silently float down into the trees, small animals scurrying away as they detect you, then you advance towards the source of the noise, taking care to keep yourself hidden. Eventually, you're close enough to see the creature that's making the noise.

It takes a while for you to realise that the long, thin flexible cord is not part of the creature, and is actually something that is holding it suspended over the ground upside down, not allowing the creature to move away. The creature itself is black in color, with some long white fur growing out of its head. It has two eyes, four limbs and seems to be encapsuled in some kind of organic material that seems designed to allow it movement. Unusually, its limbs are very long, at least compared to the animals you've seen. It has two poined ears extruding from its head. It is around 30 eyes* long.
