Nope.
Then it was deniable; IIRC Menka did little more than sit at the table.
Have him moving fighting under henge and you blow away any shreds of doubt.
Actually, he either swapped out paper with the test key, or he copied down everything for us. But Furiko seems to have weighed in on my side of the argument so I won't continue forward unless you want to. In any case, I think Menka helping is acceptable, certainly if it secures a quick and decisive victory. It's not ideal, but if the alternative is losing or being forced to reveal even more trumps, it's worth it. I'm not keen on denying options.
Sorato was neither lethally armed, nor looking to kill us.
We had backup sitting in the carriage awaiting our word to jump in, and prelaid traps.
And we were sure we were better than him.
None of those hold true for this exam.
Sorato wasn't lethally armed in the same way a ninja without weapons is not lethally armed, i.e. still perfectly lethal if they want to be and don't suck donkey balls. We had more advantages there, true, but...

Furiko has been saying she favors audacious, elaborate plans for a while now, and recently. Fortune Favors The Bold are words to take to heart here. Not to the point of recklessness, but all this playing it safe is just boring. And apparently OOC for the character we're playing.

Ohho dear me yes. Lupin's not quite dumb, but he is a showoff, a hothead, and an egotistical smartass who has diarrhoea of the mouth in the presence of any attractive sexually-assertive woman and a driving need to protect his honour/pride; if someone throws down a challenge, his first response is usually a sensible one, but the instant the person mocks him for backing out, his rational façade crumples like an autumn leaf and he's in it to win it, regardless of how stupid or beyond him the challenge apparently is.
We are not nearly as rational and prone to playing it safe like you seem to describe us being. Certainly not at heart or when the chips are downIf we did end up revealing a lot in the process, I suspect Lupino will less berate herself for what she did and more shrug it off and decide to either get new tricks or make the same ones work on her next opponents. And if it was a very entertaining victory, would consider it totally worth it.
She certainly doesn't regret showing off Menka in the first exam. I suspect she'd do it again in a heartbeat for the reactions she got on the look on the Kiri-nin's faces.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I think you're filling in your own mentality for the character. Which happens, I've been there, but it's something authors and players need to curb, to keep in check.
Organ damage, just like Jyuuken is supposed to work without the Byakugan.
And you wanted to use what's called Ghetto Jyuuken, an untested technique at best, on an ally?
That's cold.
(?) [X] Go on the offensive the second the proctor says the word.
However we do it, I don't really want to reveal Throne and defensive is not going to suit us, so hopefully Furiko takes our ideas and if she rolls dice they favor us.
EDIT: Although for the record, I'm assuming that going on the offensive translates into being aggressive, not deciding to go fisticuffs without a good reason and thinking we can beat the melee specialist like we thought we could against Sorato. Not necessarily going for raw damage output, but to fight smart and work things to our advantage.
I suppose defense may be better than it sounds though, if it really translates to "wait for an opening" instead of "don't get hit and maybe taunt Tenten." If defense is about wearing her down, maybe. Still think taking initiative to force an opening is better.
....Actually suddenly I'm not sure I want to be aggressive. Defensive, drawing out the match, banter, that does seem much more our style, especially if we're having fun. If we're interested in stronger ties with Dante!Gaara, this is also probably the match he'd prefer to watch.
I'm torn. Subtext makes both options different from what I imagined.
