Mmh, this supplement looks a bit odd. Fishy, I'd even say.

I thought it was an April's Fools, but it was posted on 12th of April, and looks like an illegal fan supplement being sold on DTR.
I mean, text blurb says it's for 3E, but it's the first I hear of it, and it's tagged as being 1st and 2nd edition Exalted and WoD to boot?

IIRC Onyx Oath did set up a shop on DTRPG for Exalted supplements made by fans. So it might be that.

    It's Storyteller's Vault.

The long and short of it, you can sell your homebrew for the various systems and settings and whatnot. Onyx Path or Paradox or whoever the license holder is gets a cut of the proceeds.

    It's all perfectly legal.

Hey guys. I'm looking for a quote. Somewhere in exalted.

Someone, a dev, said in response to a Exalted vs sci fi, that the Exaltation grants excellence to whatever they put their minds to. That they would naturally evolve charms based on whatever they can get their hands on.

So... anyone got a clue where it is from?

    Sorry but no.

    OK that's it.

After 3 years of searching, I'm not going to bother looking for that quote again.

Now onto more important things. I heard that 3e charms made the solars less powerful. How true is this

They made everything less powerful. No Perfect/Absolute effects, some Charms automatically stop working for no in-character reason if you aren't actively fighting one or more "non-trivial enemies" while leaving it up to the Storyteller to decide what that means, and there are no distinct distances for anything.

    Oh my.

    Oh well.

    Question.

I'm writing a campione crossover. I won't bore you with a synopsis, but it's a place where Second and third circle level beings rampage around with no Exalted to stop them.

There's a melee supernal solar Exalted. How long can he last against a second circle level being?

Haa ... depends on build, I'm talking from my 2ed experiences, die horribly or be slaughtering them like pigs. Th Second Circles, I mean. Of course PDs work, both ways.
Separate Campione? If you squint they can count as Solar-equivalents with enough Heretic Gods harvested-for-XP under their belts. Then it goes into completely bugfucking nuts territory.

On the other hand Third Circles, these are Puzzle Box Bosses who are normally invicible to spamming attacks. Their casual, for example Ligier's, attacks are so horrible that Exalt needs PD to survive it reliably and Exalt relying on some top-tier mega-armour to let him survive few strikes? Incurable, Murphy mocking, thrill seeker. Because if Third Circle uses Excellency-equivalent or some +PAIN charm? Only PD helps or really, really obscene artifacts that work like PDs.

As for your question about the Dragon-Blooded 2ed charm. Apologies, I don't have the PDFs anymore so all I could remember is that this charm works "by letting a bunch of DB's cooperate perfectly, like one body" but I don't remember the name of that charm. It is probably one from 2ed Dragon-Blooded splat, or the extra book about Realm that contains Upright Soldier in the name. Since both are Dragon-Blooded-centric and contain no Solar stuff.

If you mean 'move as one' its either 'With One Mind' giving the dragonblooded the equivalent of wireless radio headsets, or 'threshing floor technique', a melee attack that lets you and any of your nearby friends attack as one, as long as one of you is close enough to the opponent.

    Major gods?

Athena turned an entire city into stone via petrification. Melqart was trying to smash apart an entire island using his storms. Artemis transformed several hundred people into animals, irreversibly. John Pluto Smith, with his full power, can annihilate California.

So... powerful enough to be third circle demons?

The most broken thing a Solar can do in a crossover like that is to take Wyld Shaping Technique. See, all those other worlds? They're not Creation. They are perfectly ripe for the large-scale reality warping that is WST. Throw in Sorcery too, and your Solar can outdo any Campione or god in the setting in largescale shittery, before you even get to the rest of their combat charms.

Anyway, heard the infernals now map by ability, not yozi.

Why? It was kinda cool last time.

Really needs an permissive ST, that.

While other worlds aren't Creation, neither is Malfeas, Yu-Shan, Auto-kun, or the Underworld. And unless I completely forget how Wyld Shaping Technique works, it shouldn't work on any stable world.

I doubt it would work, since ... it isn't Wyld. The name of the Charm shows it's obvious limits. So unless said Solar also have "create Tainted Land with a punch" charm, because Tainted lands count as Wyld for that Charm, if barely, then WST isn't as awesome as it sounds. Lastly, it works slowly.
What stops a reality-warping Heretic God to descend and bash said Solar's head in as a "counter" or mages divining it trough Seers and bombarding said Solar's position with artillery fire? Or equivalent.

Major god of Campione! ... can be seen as equivalents of powerful Third Circles. Or Incarna. So yeah, Campione! vs Solar isn't a "I pump Excellency till the shrub dies" but it's PvP without the things like Balance or Fair Rules. On average, Solar that can't blitz Campione will lose once he burns trough the Motes. One Trick Pony Campione will also lose if Solar PDs the Ultimate Gimmick and have enough juice left for strong enough Excellency (because Campione have their Magical Luck that can count as sort-of passive Excellency/Stunting).

Shaping attacks? Sorcery? Campione closes his mouth and wins, hands down. They are immune to magic that isn't applied orallyinternally, remember?

    EDIT: And Sidereal'ed by Nekraa.

Ironically a Solar that specced into martial arts might do better than one that went into a lot of charms.

No mote cost, able to combo really damn well, can be mixed with charms and sorcery. Allows them to focus on perfect defenses and not spend much on offense, giving them more staying power to keep up a constant offense.

You mean in the context of Campione?

... charms cost motes of essence to use. If a Solar was fighting gods in Campione he'd be needing a lot of charms in a very short length of time, something Stunting would likely not help with, and thus minimizing motes used for offense would allow them to work on defense to not die.

Well, there was an early draft of Martial Techniques that were mote-less and could be used by mortals (as enlightened mortals aren't a thing anymore) in addition to the Martial Charms of Essence-users within a given style, but it was removed from the final version.

    A shame, that.

    Headcanon on thaumaturgy:

    Things that can affect it:
    Numbers
    Assistants
    Spiritual help
    Reagents.

    Things that can be affected
    Size
    Power
    Effect

Thaumaturgy has several factors going into it, all which can alter the end result. A priest, praying to his god, can enact several dozen wards in a tenth of the time of immense strength around the temple, using blessings from the god in question, as well as his spiritual connection to the building. The wards would be strong enough to push back ghosts, demons, mundane bandits, and might even slow an exalted. Same goes for reagants. Expending resources allows you to set up wards or enchantments that are stronger than normal, or last longer. Several dozen thaumaturges working together in concert to ward a palace against ghosts and demons and scrying are far more effective than having one single thaumaturge doing everything by himself.

    Alchemy:

Thaumaturges can expend precious resources or spiritual blessings in lieu of willpower or essence dots. One of these is the infamous human sacrifice, letting you create healing balms and life potions by killing someone or something. Thaumaturges working in concert, has their production increase exponentially or make better potions, with their greater numbers letting each thaumaturge concentrate on a single aspect of the product.

A good workshop, one specialising in thaumaturgical alchemy, allows an aspiring alchemist to do far, far more. One can make medicine in the wild, out of crushed roots, stones, and mud bowls.... but you can do far more with pre-powdered reagants, crystal flasks, alchemical talismans, catalystic rods, and flame powder. With a good enough workshop, a single alchemist can do ten or twenty times the work of a single thaumaturge using his bare hands and power. With giant vat-complexes of the shogunate or other nations, an alchemist can do the work of hundreds at a time.

A/N: Sorry, I like thaumaturgy. I think what was done to it is a crime.

Accelerator ... you have to remind me of painful wounds in my heart? Don't you? But yes, Thaumaturgy was a beautiful gimmick that gave Dragon-Blooded AND mortals some edge when charms burned trough all the Essence. Lets not forget the versatility!

Fuck, DBs propped up what was left of Solar Age on Charm improved Alchemy. Pity what we know of Shogunate only shows shitty mirror of what Solars did to earn the "lets kill them fuckers all, everyone!" but on slightly less world-blowing-up scale. Och, well.

3ed did some beautiful things. Like Sorcerous Workings. But also made some really ... disagreeable things. Like their new take on Thaumaturgy. Or crafting. Or not-Exalts reduced to moving props, as if it was 2ed Fair Folk game.
I am not saying that in 2ed mortals mattered much ... because they didn't matter much since random Exalt/Spirit Joe could squash greatest mortal hero whenever rather easily. But, unlike in 3ed ... mortal could TRY. And in one-in-a-million chance, they managed to win.

If unlucky they were instantly possessed by Exaltation.:p

    What happened?
