Favorite writing ambiance and soundtracks

Curious what kind of ambiance or background music fellow writers prefer while working on quests or stories? Do you prefer instrumental soundtracks, game OSTs, or complete silence?

Personally, instrumental ambient tracks or classical music without vocals work best to avoid distractions.

I normally write in silence, but sometimes for particular scenes I will put on a track that suits that scene (as if it were playing in the background in a movie or TV show) and I'll listen to it while I write the scene. Often times I'll then link that same track into the scene itself.

Some of those hour-long ambient tracks are pretty nice when I want to write something suspenseful or whatever. I dug up a bunch of those on youtube when I was writing a story a couple years ago about investigating an abandoned military base covered in snow that was infested with an alien parasite.

White Bat Audio also has a lot of good tracks for writing suspense/horror scenes.

For sex scenes I sometimes dig up the classic raunchy tunes from the 70s.

For fight scenes, the options are plenty. Usually a good long tribal drum rhythm does the trick.

Just recently I wrote a long description of a castle tower where my MC lives, from the perspective of another character seeing it for the first time, and although I linked a different track which was a moody remix of a Castlevania tune (not any of the famous ones like Vampire Killer, it was a more obscure and mellow one), in my head as I was writing it I kept going back to the koopa castle track in Super Mario World. It would have sounded cheesy af if I'd linked it in the post, but it fit perfectly for the act of writing the scene itself.

Silence works best for me too, music's fine when reading but when writing I find pretty much any noise aside from white noise/fans super distracting.
If I had to pick music though I'd say stuff like the CD 'The Heart of Roadrunner Records', not because it's good to write to- it's a really good old metal album so yeah it's not, but because it's one of my favorites I've listened to hundreds of times and it won't disturb me as much as something new.
