Story time!

I had 1/8 of a tank of gas and four bucks yesterday but was stopped by anxiety all day from doing anything. Eventually my hungry feeling returned so I decided to take advantage of a Circle K deal to get a fully loaded dog, chips, and drink for 3$

They were out of dogs. The roller grill was empty.

I cried, I ugly cried. Not in the Circle K, not that pathetic yet, but once I got the 0.89$ drink and went back to my parking spot.

So now I got three bucks and change, less than an eighth of a tank of gas, and crippling anxiety about going anywhere because of gas.

Also, I'm undoubtedly really hungry but I don't feel it right now.

The world of instant gratification has ruined me. I keep expecting my beard to be finished growing in every time I look in the mirror.

I've discussed this before but the worst thing isn't the hunger, the total financial insecurity or even the lack of reliable showering.
It's the lack of privacy.
That one night in a motel was the only real privacy I've had since this all started. It now boggles my mind how little attention I paid to the assumption of privacy I used to have.

The ability to close a door and not be in danger of being seen is the greatest luxury.

I still want a steak, a shower, and reliable income, but I want to be able to just relax and not be worried about people looking at me more.

I mean shit, I've not had a good wank since January.

Makes a lot of sense. I heard somewhere that the real thing hotels are renting isn't the bed, it's the locked door. After all, I can still sleep soundly - if uncomfortably - on the floor, but if a hotel room didn't have a door I sure as hell wouldn't stay there.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but have you considered getting a shitty but usable tent and finding a local campsite?

You are not kidding. That locked door is really what counts. Beds are great, showers are wonderful, but that locked door is where it's at.
I just wish even cheap motels weren't so expensive compared to everything else I need to survive.

Other than getting my damn phone turned back on, that is.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but have you considered getting a shitty but usable tent and finding a local campsite?

I have, but honestly I don't have the money for even a shitty tent. I'm living off 3$ Circle K hotdog meals when I can afford 'em.

I can get a bare approximation of privacy by putting a sun shade in my front window and sleeping in the back seat, which isn't enough but my sleep deprivation level is still in the "not hallucinating much" range so it's going to suffice for the time being.

Also, I sorta have an idea of what it's like to be narcoleptic now, so that's an experience.

It's very very odd, but I somehow got really good with proportions in spite of being heavily dependent on using grids

We've been seeing a praying mantis on our front porch since a year or two after we moved into this house about ten years ago. I think I remember posting here about calling it a dumbass one morning when it got its head stuck in the door.

Only I looked it up and mantises only live about a year. So it's probably the greatx8 grandchildren now.

Bizarrely, every time I've ever seen one, they look so identical I thought it was the same one. I'd think I'd see smaller ones sometimes, but no, same size every time. It's weird. And never two at once.

So I was half dozing off just before dawn and saw what looked like a massive furry snake moving in my backseat in the rear view mirror.
Scared me so bad I felt like I was having a heart attack.

It was a hallucination, of course. Fucking sleep deprivation…

I was at a 24 hour CVS last night using their bathroom and when I was going back to my car an employee who was carrying out garbage had a bag burst on him.
I helped him clean it up because it wasn't like I had anything else I needed to do.
He gave me a big bag of Reese's cups they were throwing out.

How much viable food gets thrown away in this country every day?
The thought kinda pisses me off.

Still struggling with everything and dreaming of privacy.

Also wishing McDonald's wasn't the most reliable source of 24/7 free Wi-Fi.

whoops, 4.5 months into the job it was off-handedly mentioned in a conversation with coworkers that the manager I've been asking for pricing stuff for unpriced things on the sales floor is a more back-end manager and the store-side manager is the other one I haven't been going to that much due to his "office" being around an extra corner from the main work area compared to the back-end manager.

I worked in the meat and seafood departments of a grocery store as both a meat clerk and assistant seafood manager for two years (year before I went to university and 1st year of university) and the amount of edible meat (seafood is different because it goes bad quicker but I'm fairly certain much of what was thrown out was 100% edible) thrown out enraged me. I could do nothing about it because of store policy. I did manage to buy some of the expired (but still edible) meat on a steep discount though.

I asked about donating the meat to a food bank but the meat dept. manager (great guy btw) told me it was against store policy due to liability. I did get some of the expired fish (with the seafood manager's permission, again great guy) for free as crawfish trap bait or deadbait for fishing.

For fucks sake…

I scramble every day to be able to afford one or two super cheap "meals" that stave off starvation at an inevitable cost to my long term health while immense amounts of perfectly edible, even healthy, food gets shitcanned.

I am so angry that I am having trouble describing it.

I haven't had but one meal that I've enjoyed or thought was especially healthy in months. I mean, you'd think hospital food would be healthy but there was way too much processed sugar and crap ingredients even there.
All that and meanwhile meat, fish and everything else is just headed to the landfill.

Fuck everything. I want to beat the hell out of someone for this but who the hell would I even blame?

I used to cook man, homemade food, fresh shit. Healthy even.

I've had to take breaks while writing this to compose myself. Maybe the sleep deprivation is making me more emotional but this just hits real hard right now, y'know?

Still stuck waiting. Been ice skating uphill with unemployment. Got more to do today but they've still never given me one red cent.

I'm really over being chained to free Wi-Fi spots, but it's not going to be changing so I guess I better get used to it.

I hate that I'm almost used to how sleep deprivation at this level feels. Especially the effects. I'm just glad I have yet to fall out for a quick and unsatisfactory nap while driving.

Most of all I'm very tired of being scared of tomorrow. I've barely been keeping it together and it's been getting harder to keep even slightly above water.
I've already had to essentially give up on phone service, which is a huge problem. Now I have to look ahead and hope I'll be able to maintain car insurance.

All that while still feeding myself and getting gas.

Funny you mentioned it. There was a composting machine as part of some green initiative but after corporate found it cost more to run than just dumping things into the garbage they shut it off and it gathered dust in the back since then. Its probably still gathering dust in the back.

The root of this and the root of most problems we complain about in other threads regarding entertainment like movies, comics, and video games all stem from this business lawsuit. Shareholder above all became the precedent and it spread across the world like wildfire.
Making a product (in this case food) cheap and available reduces profit, which means shareholders won't get their massive dividend every year or see the share price grow every year.
I won't go further regarding the business lawsuit that started it all, but any intelligent man or woman can come to their own conclusions.

Nah, I got a sample of one of those 'cook your own takeout' packages and the number of individually-wrapped ingredients was way more important to why I'll never buy one than the price tag. It's not just packaging either; we have enough baby clothes for every baby born for years getting thrown into landfills because people buy brand new clothes and toss them into landfills when the kids grow a little instead of just catch-and-releasing them from thrift stores until they fall apart. Toys too. And books.

It just hit me. The entities in worm are what late stage gamers turn into. At some point making supercomputers the size of continents to train one of your skills just make sense. When that starts to hit diminishing returns stage 2 give your powers to lesser forms and make them aggressive. Each one will temporarily host your power and grind that specific skill. After a century or two just blow up said planet since that sometimes gives you a neat achievement and you can really squeeze out the last xp.

Seriously I'm talking about steak so good it'll make your dick hard. Boneless well marbled ribeye cooked to a perfect medium rare with a crispy crust, tender and juicy.

Funny thing is I'm not the only car-living person here. There are two others who spend a fair bit of time staring at the back of this McDonald's.

Does anyone know of a CYOA multicross fic that starts in MHA with a female protag? It was a popular fic here on QQ, but I can't remember its name for the life of me.

The first chapter was about the MC enjoying life as a high schooler (obviously) when a villain attacks and maims her friend. Then she kills him in a manic fit and discovers the "XP" side of her quirk: if she eats anything that proved to challenge her, she can choose between getting physically stronger and stuff, or obtaining a new power.

And then... I don't remember, she lived a double life as a hero and villain, something about frieren, some posts wondering if the CYOA was inspired from the UI and game mechanics of some new MMO.

After that I woke up. So does anyone know the name? Or did I genuinely dream up a QQ slopfic, replies and all?
