General chat thread

Are we allowed to make a thread to ask opinions on what setting i should make a Quest in (Recently started a Worm Quest but want to get practice writing in other settings as well)

If so, where would we do that?

NSFW Q&R Index has an "Interest Check & Idea Thread" and "General Quest Discussion , Recommendations, Requests and QM Advice" thread

The way people I know talk about Mint Sauce, you'd imagine a bottle of Mint Sauce personally killed their families.

I have discovered that balsamic vinegar is, in fact, quite tasty and makes for a great condiment.
It's great! I use it for canned ravioli to improve the flavor, as a component for salat sauces, and you can dip bread in it as @Stormwalker detailed. Made the mistake of eating an undiluted tablespoonfull once, not gonna repeat that.

My preference is to pour it into a shallow dish with olive oil and dip bread into it.
Yeah, sometimes I do that when I'm feeling peckish.

I also got a bottle of balsamic cream, orange flavored. It's thick like a syrup but great to pour on food. Tried it with some leftover chicken and fries, added great flavor and brought a cold and stale dish back to life.

Sounds like interesting stuff. I've personally tried making my own sauces before, not easy and generally something I wouldn't recommend unless you're really willing to practice and get the right stuff down. Plus it's sometimes not worth the effort.

Also apologies if I'm jumping into this conversation randomly, love talking about cooking stuff from time to time.

anyone else having issues with opening their account page and their alerts and stuff? It just shows the loading circle and nothing happens. My alerts page says the page could not be loaded... I have tried everything. resetting the router, clearing my cache, flushing my DNS, disabling any/all adblockers(that have never had an issue before)...

the tabs with the stories I was reading are still open and working, the Thread search and all that still works... but the account page and the Alerts page(on my account page) do not want to open/work...

Just watched "The End of Oak Street." It was a pretty decent movie, although the first 10-15 minutes were rough to sit through due to movie using this to establish the characterization of the cast. Said cast initially comes off as somewhat unlikable, with the movie going out of its way to establish their flaws right off the bat, before walking that back somewhat later on. Once they've been characterized, however, the movie throws the entire neighborhood back in time, and the rest of the movie is them trying not to get eaten alive by dinosaurs (which the main cast are only mostly successful at, but their very unfortunate neighbors are absolutely terrible at). Notably, while not completely absent of gore, especially with people who were already corpses when they appear on screen, the movie makes use of the gory discretion shot, often cutting away as people get killed. The movie also doesn't use many jump scares, preferring instead to show things sneaking up on people on camera while the characters themselves remain oblivious until the last second. Shockingly, the movie has a happy ending, with a cut to two years later and everything being back to normal, at least for everyone who didn't get trapped in the past, and the main cast being portrayed as relatively well off with a new house in a different neighborhood (their old one went back in time and never came back).

Overall, I'd say it's worth a watch.

Wasn't there a whole tv show about this way, way back?

Is this on QQ? If so, are you still having this issue?

It is now almost 4 in the afternoon. I was working on my mom's 62nd birthday meal since roughly 9:30 this morning and we ate between 2 and 2:30 so it's literally all I've done today.

It went essentially without any major hiccup or disaster.

It was delicious as fuck.

I am considering it an unmitigated success.

I made Chicken Eggplant Parmesan where you fry each of them up and then layer and finish in the oven. I also added fresh mozz before I broiled; it still ended up a bit chewy but the taste of fresh mozzarella goes well with it so I'll take it. We had a bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling Rose that went surprisingly well with the chicken. I'm guessing the marinara is the complimentary binder there.

For the dessert I made a fat fucking Hershey's chocolate cake with peanut-butter frosting and raspberry filling with a chocolate ganache drip. Or as I'm calling it the PB&J chocolate cake.

I do not want to move much less do anything for the rest of the day while I sleep off the food coma and that eggplant is doing overtime trying to regulate my blood sugar after that cake.

I am a bit late to the occasion, but congratulations and best regards to your mom!

Would you kindly provide a recipe for the chicken and eggplant dish? I am interested in the ratio and the exact way of frying

I used this one here:

The one hiccup I had was he used two layers of eggplant IIRC. I only had enough for one for mine which I think was because I couldn't cut it thin enough. So if you want to match his exactly either be better at me than at thin slicing or buy an extra egg plant. He also repeats the dredging/egg/batter mixture for both the chicken and eggplant as well, but I only made it once and it was enough for the whole dish, so I would start with that if you're worried about waste as you can always make more if you need it.

Is anyone else having extreme performance issues trying to load SB?

I'm pretty sure I don't have a DNS problem, it's just that servers aren't properly answering. Either the Telekom's (ISP in Germany) peering is shitting the bed again, or Cloudflare is having significant trouble.

(It's not just SB. As of this evening, SV is also affected. Plus assorted others I've noticed like notebookcheck.com. Other sites like QQ and Youtube are completely fine.)

Is there another "QQ" out there or have we hit the big leagues, boys?

OhQ5eo5z.jpg

Right up there with Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and the other major players.

If it does mean this one, I have to wonder if this is related to the AI scraper invasion a bit a go and some AI brained idjit looking at a list of sites the AI hit and deciding QQ hit some arbitrary engagement number without actually looking at what QQ was.

Uh there is a chineese social media site which is tencents qq. I think there was another part of the name though. I actually used qq as an acronym someplace else a couple weeks ago and they thought I was chineese lol. Had tk explain what it was.
