I would find it funny if it was Kaine who ends up removing Hiral from play and elevates Las to replace him, a highly competent Moff who was far more sensible than the others.

The Kuati Rings had been hit by a Rebel hit-and-run attack. A combination of coordinated mass fighter strikes, alongside GR-75's converted to carry mass torpedo launchers, had done no small amount of damage.

On the screen, the footage zoomed, showing those freighters open the 'cargo' pods on their underbellies and unleash a veritable swarm of torpedoes. Not a single ship got more than two volleys off before being ripped to pieces by Imperial fire, but I suspected they weren't meant to hold more than that. They likely weren't meant to survive. By reversing the footage and zooming in on the freighters, one could see how the underbellies glowed with heat. The volleys were fired too quickly, likely modified to bypass security limits.

Wow that is a costly expenditure of fleet assets and toerpedos. Wonder how much the quartermasters were crying blood at the state of Rebel supply lines. They might have stripped the X-Wings of their torpedo reserves to accomplish this.

One of the most important parts of the ring itself, even more important than the dockyards, were the logistics.

What that seems to have done, however, is galvanize people. Three sectors down in the south-eastern Outer-Rim saw massive rebellions. Admittedly those sectors had always been very rebellious, but this was at an unheard level.

Especially since it wasn't the Alliances doing. From what Darna and Thorne were able to scrounge up on the down-low, these were local cells and units. The kinds that were fighting for the freedom of their sectors over any Republican resurgence.

Oof, that's a mistake. Who wants to bet these worlds were the ones that were going to revolt after Endor? I vaguely remember the South Eastern Outer Rim being an early territory of the future New Republic. By kicking it off early and getting stomped that likely deprives the future New Republic of a critical early support base.

It didn't last, of course. The Empire brought the full weight of its might down onto the sector. Ardus Kaine and his Scourge Squadron soon appeared, and spared no mercy.

The Reaper alone glassed a dozen cities. Some 20 million or so died, per Imperial estimations. Non-Imperial estimations doubled that, at a minimum.

Yeah those Outer Rim worlds are frakked. That level of depopulation and infrastructure damage are going to set those worlds on the path of decline and destitution. Whether by cruelty by the Empire, or apathy and lack of resources by the New Republic, these worlds are unlikely to be rebuilt for this generation at minimum.

Even if the New Republic paints that part of the galaxy their color after Endor, they are unlikely to provide the same amount of Credits, manpower, or resources they did in canon or legends.

Again, they glared. For a second I thought they were going to go again, but they didn't. Instead, they played a round of rock-paper-scissors.

Not really rock-paper-scissors, but some local game of the same kind.

They tied nearly dozens of times in a row, playing so fast that at one point their hands were blurs that my eyes didn't even bother tracking.

At least Thorne and Darna have managed to form a decent working relationship. Maybe not friendship as either would be willing to admit.

"Governor-General Hiral is panicking. From the data it is clear he is not properly spreading the quotas out or fully utilizing the resources available to him. Admittedly, even if he did it would be impossible to meet the quotas. However, it is clear he is not handling the situation well. Complaints from the mid-rim sectors make it clear they are not happy with the increased quotas."

The projection changes to a map, the mid-rim sectors highlighted in red.

"I've analyzed public speeches, events, and other publicly available data. From what I've seen of micromovements, small social cues, and more, support for the Governor-General in these sectors is falling."

That's got to worry Hiral something fierce. He staked his whole political career on the Mid Rim. To the detriment of Outer Rim sectors like Myto. If the Mid Rim turns hostile and the Outer Rim is lukewarm at best, he might not have the support to justify remaining in power.

"Based on publicly available financial records and markets, the money-makers of the sector are pulling away from the Governor-General's sphere of influence. Investment in companies he has stock in or founded is dropping at a steady pace, while core-world corporate influence is rising."

"Through this, we have an avenue. The Myto Sectors main issue is a lack of resources and industrial capacity needed to meet quota. Not pure financial power. Through strategic investments via shell corporations, it is possible for us to further destabilize the Governor-General's base of power. In doing so, we distract him from our sector and create more chaos. This allows us to more easily fake transcripts and shipping logs, alongside targeted bribery to the correct officials, which will therefore allow us to avoid large parts of the quota."

Thorne: "Let's screw over our higher ups to secure our own position and future success!"

Sniff. I am so proud of Thorne and the progress he has made. Mr. Durasteel pole up his butt of the past would never have gone for this.

"So, we embarrass them. Expose them. These aren't the only dirty secrets they have, but they are the easiest to uncover. Combined with the already high tensions the Mid-Rim is going through, and a few other tricks of the trade, we could set off quite a few fireworks in their little parties."

Thorne's face scrunched up at the mention of Darna's 'tricks', but held his tongue. I knew he preferred to do things through data, reports, and more subtle means. Admittedly, it wasn't as though Darna's methods were particularly brazen, simply that he had very high standards.

Then again, tossing extra spices into party food and turning up the heat until it was a little too uncomfortable, was certainly a strange way to go about spy business. Thorne's ISB sensibilities were unused to it.

"Through this we can sow division amongst his followers and backers. By doing so, we create targets for him. Hiral has so far been protecting his backers from the full force of the quota by offloading the work onto other sectors, ours included. Now he will have enemies within his richest sectors, and removing the extra work from us to hoist back onto them will both relieve our strain and create more division among his powerbase."

The fact his screws over any replacement by having the prominent classes of the Bright Jewel Mid Rim at each other's throats is a nice bonus. Any future Governor-General is going to have to get the Mid Rim in order before turning their eyes in Myto's direction.

Within three days the rebels had been pushed back, their stolen ISD's destroyed. Three cities on Ryloth had been glassed. Jumbled guesses and underworld estimates put death tolls at some 200 million. Imperial reports didn't bother to count. I imagine they'd get to it eventually, once they had to start cleaning up the bodies.

Well the price of Twilek slaves just skyrocketed from lack of future supply. Sounds a bit cynical, but that may have an impact on the actions of the galactic slaver community going forward. Myto is a major enclave of free Twileks due to HAVEN's activities. Any slaving ring looking to cash in on the supply shortage might be looking in Myto's direction even more.

As these new units replaced old ones, we'd be stuck with a surplus of thousands of frames just sitting around. So, I decided to sell them off.

Unlike the civilian variants we built and sold, these military variants could only be legally sold to other Imperial Moffs. So, I'd have to arrange a buyer in these trying times.

Which wasn't as hard as it seemed. After all, which Imperial wouldn't want to buy a new weapon?

The Empire was so predictable it physically hurt.

Sounds like a lot of Imperial Moffs just got a new miniboss to throw at the Rebels.

So when the chips are down, Hiral is likely to died under Las's people or Mid Rim is going to kill him first.

And kaine is likely hit list on first for rebels if only Zsinj doesn't do worse than him.

With the number of glassings happening, you'd think Operation Cinder was starting early. But thanks to Darna and Thorne we've gotten some good insight to what's happening to their neighbors in the Oversector.

Hiral, who should've been treating Myto with more care, is choosing his supporters who are more rich but lacking in comparison and has chosen to offload some of their burden on Las.

In these trying times, it would do good if WEB can be used to help Hiral see, that piles of credits mean nothing when the Empire is calling for physical stuff. By discrediting those backers through exposure of their excess and hedonism amidst everyone else, he would have no choice but to publicly put them in their place. The slavery will get swept under the rug but the sheer weight in excess will catch the ISB's eyes.

Wonder how long it will take earth Vader to get a Leca and upgrade it to a LAM
